Your journey has molded you for your greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don't think you've lost time. There is no short-cutting to life. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time.

Catey....I am with Cammi. Too bad the government can't give "snow days" to people who must be out in the cold like mail people. I really don't think the couple here or there would make that much difference. Once again, hats off to all those who work in a field where such extraordinary feats are required. I can't imagine to tell you the truth. The time I was out yesterday was pretty un-pleasant.....and to have to be outside, like it or not sounds so brutal.
We are indeed having something of a heat wave here as well. Going to get up to 32 or 33. Oh my. Went out to feed the dogs this a.m. and didn't button my coat. Knew ( as I'm out for at least 15 mins. ) that it would heat me up to much. It did actually with no wind and higher temps seem very warm. Hoping it soon extends all the way up North.
Blessings,
Jackie

Woo Hoo we just hit double digits above in Chiberia. It's 10 above!
-
I was singing we're having a heat wave a tropical heat wave--well my kids never heard that song so they said I should rest. Of course I will follow their advice--tricky me.
-
Thanks! I have an appointment with Dr. Madry tomorrow I will feel better to get a 2nd opinion = )
-
Logging to say a big Hello from Arizona. I have not been posting, but try to keep up every once in a while. I have really been thinking of you going through that bitter cold winter. Looks like that cold wave is finally going to break. Yikes! I do not ever remember temperatures that low before. We still have an empty house for sale in Crystal Lake and fortunately, our realtor is a good friend and he has been a real trooper keeping a close eye on the water pipes, etc.
Amy, I would definitely get a second and third opinion. Your situation sounds a lot like my experience. My skin had thinned so much on the side where I had radiation. The incision just could not heal. I ended up with an infection. Ultimately, my PS insisted on doing a Lat Flap surgery to bring in some fresh tissue with a good blood supply. That certainly fixed it. My PS specializes in breast reconstruction and is at NW Memorial downtown.
I am still in pursuit of new doctors here. For some unknown reason (probably our address change), our insurance was changed from UHC to BCBS of Texas. I have gotten several recommendations and am waiting to hear back from the Mayo Clinic here. Hopefully, things will get set up soon.
I have ben working with a personal trainer at the fitness center. She has really taken an interest in LE and has been wonderful to work with. She does keep me in check as far as limiting weight training, etc. This week she is killing me on core exercises though.
Take care, ladies. Stay safe and warm. If you make down to the Phoenix area, please give me a call and stop by.

joan we are coming to visit you! All of us!
myers good luck tomorrow...dont tire him out- he needs to be fresh as a daisy for my exchange Friday
I went out for my tests and it felt absolutely balmy!
-
Aviva - I am his last appointment tomorrow night so I will make sure he goes straight home to get his rest!! Good luck Friday & happy tortoise shell removal.
Myers - Good luck & let us know how it goes.
-
Thanks! I just posted a few pics on the picture board. Wish I had some pre everything and post bmx. Will add after the exchange and after the drop and fluff!
-
Lago great advice
Don't go with what you want to hear, go with what really makes sense.
I will take that with me tomorrow.
Sincerely appreciate all of you
Amy

Thanks everyone for allowing me to rant! Today was much better, glad the excessive cold is gone!
Amy- I certainly think going for a second opinion is a good idea. It is my understanding that Dr Madry is not a fan of dermal matrix because of an assortment of complications. If you are interested PM me for his number and you can talk to Andrea his secretary she is really a sweetheart. Im sure they would try and fit you into his schedule under the circumstances
-
Katie - I spoke with Andrea today I got that impression, she was really sweet. I have an appt. at 9:30 with Madry tomorrow I am really hoping he has a better option. I will let 'ya all know the outcome.
-
Amy...so glad you're getting a second opinion. We'll be anxious to hear what he says.
Joan...good to see a post from sunny Arizona. This winter has been brutal and we are heading out Saturday for the south and warmer temps. It sounds like you're getting settled in now. Enjoy your lovely home and view.

Well ladies I have decided this morning not to go to my appt. I am going to call my ps, I feel now it needs to come out it is now swollen and it just doesn't feel right (thank you Lago).
Much Love,
Amy
-
OK Myers I'm confused--u r going to u'r first Dr, right? it got swollen overnite> You gals have all the same Dr. and u don't see one another?
-
Yes I am going to my 1st Dr. It was swollen when I went to bed and is still that way not dramatically but enough to notice that something is not right.
-
Oh Myers I just hope they find out why--there are so many stupid things that happen along the way. It's never cut and dry. Tell us what happens.
-
I thought it was too easy to be over with ; ).
-
Myers sorry to hear about the swelling. I hope you do ask your PS more questions so you understand why s/he is doing certain procedures. They get so busy sometimes they forget to explain to the patient.
-
Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your
appreciation,
sincerely and without the expectation of
anything in return. Truly
appreciate those around you,
and you'll soon find many others around you.
Truly
appreciate life, and you'll find that you have more of
it.

My two cents worth...don't wait. whatever the problem is, it's easier to take care of it sooner rather than later. This from the great procrastinator! But I've learned through experience!
-
Well... After a not so pleasant phone call with my ps who basically said I told you so we should have taken it out when I wanted to (on Tues) and he couldn't cancel 3 surgeries that he has scheduled today to take care of me. I decided to go to Dr. Madry (my 2nd opinion) Conclusion... It is not infected he thinks he can save the process of starting over by switching out the implant with a smaller size, so surgery for me tomorrow 5pm. Now... I have to find the courage to call my original ps and tell him......
-
Good luck Myers. this too shall pass and you will be well! Hang in there.
-
myers421 No courage needed. He provides a service. Part of that service is not to be a jack ass especially to a woman dealing with cancer treatment. Just call up and cancel with who ever answers the phone. Explain you found a surgeon that has time (and less attitude). Last part if you really want to stick it to him.
You have every right to get a 2nd opinion. He didn't like it so you are moving one. If it was so urgent that it was done last week he obviously didn't explain that to you. His fault not yours.
-
Here, here Lago - I second that!! Amy - glad you followed through and saw him - good luck tomorrow.
-
Myers421 - I'd have a few choice words for him if it were me! Best of luck!!!
-
Good luck tomorrow, Amy! Hugs!
-
Myers I'm glad this is getting done and over with, don't worry about the Dr. who didn't have time for u. Keep us posted.
-
Start each day with a heartfelt prayer that reaffirms
your intention to
always act with compassion and love.
