I didn't see Corinne but I hoped she saw me. Did see Michele and she saw me too. She looked great. I was located just before the 15K mark. Below is a picture of what I was holding.
It was a bit cold and windy just standing there. Brrrr.
-
Lago, Love the balloons---yea guys go.
-
Congrats to all our marathon runners! That was super supportive of you to be out there cheering them on today Iago!! I can imagine the icy chill you must have felt just standing.
-
Hi Girls....Thank you Lago for being there in the cold waiting for me. lol The weather was cold in some spot and windy in others
But I did it ....I completed my first Chicago Marathon in 6 hr and 30 min with a groin pull too. It was an amazing experience to feel the excitement , cheering, and runners pulling you along the route. It was my goal to complete it and I did...not bad for an old lady who had BC. One more bucket list completed for me. The only sad thing is that they ran out of metals so many of us didn't get one.:((( I really wanted to bring mine to school to show the students that they can do anything if they put their minds to it. Trying to be a role model for them.
Just a remember to tp please RSVP to the holiday party in Nov. It will be here soon and I can't wait to see all of you there.!!
Time to go soak my poor feet in ice again....then off to the couch. So glad I am off tomorrow from school. Day of resr for me.!!!!

Yay Blackjack!! You did it!! You rock!
Sorry about the medals. Please tell me that they are going to send you one. I can't imagine that they won't. That's part of the package for finishers. In the meantime, can you log on to the website and print out your finishing time so you can share that 'til your medal arrives?
And again - you rock!! Looking forward to the party and meeting so many of you! -
Congrats BJ--U'd better get that medal
Agood day for all of --little chilly tho, bt a good day.
-
She'll get a medal on Oct 20th
-
They better send medals to the ones that didn't get theirs.... That would really stink if they don't!!! Great job on the runners that participated.....you are amazing!!!!!
Lago....I got a "survivor" sash in the mail from my local strides event....I'll probably wear that too on the 20th! -
Lago, how did you find out about them sending out the metals on the Oct. 20??? I just an apology email only.
Who did you contact??
-
BJ- She was joking about the walk we are doing on the 20th!
-
BJ -
There is an item in the Trib today about the approx. 1300 runners who did not receive medals. It does not give a date for when they will be sent, but does state in so many words that all who finished will receive one.
The article mentioned about 1300 did not receive medals finishing 7 hours after the start of the race. That's not running individual running time - just event time.
Did you print your certificate?
Hugs!

BJ they are going to mail out metals for the marathon. I just read it on the Chicago Trib online last night but Adey is right that isn't what I meant.
… and Adey we will be getting survivor metals on the 20th. I have the inside scoop
At least that was my understanding. I don't think they'll be mailing them anymore. They are trying to cut costs so the money goes to the cause not to fund the funding of the cause.
BTW Adey has left me in the dust. She's closing in on 3K (current total $2,922 ). I'm lagging behind at $2425. The team collectively has raise… $8,587!!! Hey we might make 10K. 12 days to go.

-
BJ-That's incredible, you must be giddy. Way to go!
-
Any of you down-staters interested in car pooling it up to the Holiday gathering on Nov. 3rd? If so, PM me or post and we'll see where we could meet, etc.
-
Congrats BJ! So proud of you!!! What an accomplishment! You deserve more than a medal sister!
Lago - glad we are still #1 group! Looking forward to seeing you all at the walk.
-
Hi Girls...thank you all for the wonderful congrats...It was hard but I did it. 26.2miles. I will receive my finish metal in the mail soon. Bitter sweet for me. I ran hard for it. Will I do it again maybe.
If you didn't get an evite and want to come, please pm me. Some of the emails are not going threw. I am sorry and will resend them. Everyone is invited to come lunch and party with us girls.
Off to work now....walking super slow today:)

I discovered I always have choices and sometimes it's only a choice of attitude.

Yikes. Good thing I just double-checked, I had the Holiday party on Nov. 10 in my phone calendar! It's November 3rd!
Big Congrats to BJ for her Marathon accomplishment. I was there cheering on my DH who also ran his first marathon. It was coooold out there! LOL, but I'm wimp about standing in the cold.
Really looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone at the Holiday party. It's a really fun time and a great venue. Hope everyone is able to make it!

,I am the unknown author I said this many years ago. Didn't know someone would copy it tho.
When, where, time and $$$---I totally forgot and don't know where to look. OK?

So where am I in this picture?
I'm behind Judy Baar Topinka in the strides shirt right above her back.

Hi ladies,
Can't believe I have not been on the boards in over a week.
Congrats to the marathon runners, you inspire me!
I had check ups this week with my oncologist and breast surgeon, all is moving along good. But reconstruction can't happen until July. I have not decided if I want to go through another surgery. Is it easier than the mastectomy or chemo? Although Lagos results are encouraging. After reconstruction can I wear normal bras again? Oh, so much a BC gal goes through. But so many graces flow to the top of the mound that you gotta keep kicking the crap to the bottom...right!
Enjoy the beautiful fall colors and weather! -
Congrats to all the runners! Lago and Adey: You are doing a great job fundraising! Keep it up. I wish I could come to the walk!
-
kjiberty maybe next year. Invisible and Joan really made some big jumps this week too. I think a few more have too because our current total is linky: $9,897! we still have 10 days to go.
Graceembraced I get to wear really nice bras now. Before very few styles fit my tiny tots. Now that I'm a big girl it comes down to what is the most comfortable. Most of what I try on in my size fits.

Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances.
