(((((Adey))))
They are not dead,
Who leave us this great heritage of remembering joy.
They still live in our hearts,
In the happiness we knew, in the dreams we shared.
They still breathe,
In the lingering fragrance, windblown, from their favourite flowers.
They still smile in the moonlight's silver,
And laugh in the sunlight's sparking gold.
They still speak in the echoes of the words we've heard them say again and again.
They still move,
In the rhythm of waving grasses, in the dance of the tossing branches.
They are not dead;
Their memory is warm in our hearts, comfort in our sorrow.
They are not apart from us, but part of us,
For love is eternal,
And those we love shall be with us throughout all eternity.
AnonSending peace and serenity to you.

I am so sorry for your loss, Adey. You have an angel on your shoulder.
-
ADEY: Sending hugs and warm thoughts your way!
-
Adey- May she go in peace, knowing she loved and was loved back.

Oh Adey! My thoughts are with you and your family!
As usual, y'all were right. Not nearly as traumatic as it was in my head... The Adriamycin was a bit horrifying with the color and the nurse dressed like she was preparing biological warfare (which I guess she was). But the Cytoxin was anticlimactic. DH let me take his laptop out of the house to watch a DVD while I was being poisoned (he came with and we watched Minority Report, pretty Tom Cruise and cars & fight scenes!).
We have discussed having DH drive me, but me going in alone. Not sure if he's ready for that, bit over-protective and I'm not sure if he's ready to leave me alone with Nurse Mengele.
No SE's yet, but I've filled my prescriptions so I'm ready. I am eating everything that isn't nailed down, that may be the steroids, so even if I do start to hurl I've gotten some nutrition in this weekend.
1 down, 15 to go! (Cannot wait until that is reversed!!!)

Also we still need walkers for the Illinois Ladies team: Strides Against Breast Cancer|American Cancer Society even in Chicago at Montrose Harbor on October 20th. Our team is the #2 team in raising funds but closing in quickly on #1. So far we have 14 on our team. For more info PM me or just go to the site and look for the Illinois Ladies team.
I will be planning a brunch/lunch at Sun Wah afterwards if there is enough interest (best roast duck and hot & sour soup in the city). Those of you who aren't walking are more than welcome to join us. Just contact me. I need to know how many so I can make reservations.

In all circumstances I acknowledge this,
IN ALL THINGS AND ALL WAYS, I HAVE CHOICE.
My choice resides in my perspective.
While I certainly do not control climate and markets
and roadways and others, I do control myself
and my response to all those circumstances. I do indeed.

BJ.....I'm so sorry to hear this. I'll be thinking of you and sending silent comfort. Hugs and love to you.

And if I go, while you're still here.....
Know that I live on,
Vibrating to a different measure
Behind a thin veil you cannot
See through.
You will not see me,
So you must have faith.
I wait for the time when
We can soar together again,
Both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
.......I will be there.

I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain,
not to shrink to a grain of sand.

I have been staying healthy and washing hands frequently, minding my good health habits and my DH is now sick. He has a fever and sore throat. He is so worried that he will get me sick. He has been staying away from me for two days and we wear masks when we are in the same room. This morning my throat feels scratchy and I don't want to get sick. I'm drinking orange juice and lots of fluids...any other suggestions? Has anyone gotten the flu while on chemo and what did you do?
I would usually take NyQuil or DayQuil to fight it, but I don't think the alcohol contents would be good for me now. Should I air out the house or just Lysol every room...
Looking for your words of wisdom ladies! -
Graceembraced -- golly, I do hope you can ward off anything that could settle in. As far as the Lysol, I'm not always fond of the "aerosol" part of it. Perhaps you could use it mainly for the 'air' in the house......but to easily kill germs otherwise.......I keep a spray bottle of water with a tsp. of bleach in it. I put it on any and all surfaces. It is especialy good in the kitchen as well when you want good clean surfaces before and as you are preparing food --- but I have used it fairly exclusively for a long time since we are a multiple pet household.
I wish you well.
Hugs, Jackie
-
Adey and BJ .... So sorry that your loss. Jackie always comes up with the right words to soothe the soul and warm the memories?
Graceembraced... Count me in the sick bay with your DH. I haven't had a cold or flu in many years, but I woke up with a sore throat yesterday and that was always a precursor to a cold for me. Really feeling yucky today, but no fever. When I was going thru chemo, my DH was still flying and bringing colds home. I kept things wiped down with those Lysol sanitizing wipes and never caught his colds. Not sure where I picked up this cold. Our daughter and granddaughter have been visiting from Seattle this weekend and are on their way home today. Just hope they don't carry it back with them. I am going to take advantage of some much needed peace and quiet around here and catch a nap. Hopefully, that will help. Hate sore throats!
