I can't get my act together and I don't know why

WAs it a movie and/or song: 3 dog night??? meant cold enuf for 3 dogs on the bed.
-
Lefty, it was a musical group in the late sixties, but their name "Three Dog Night" came from the Eskimo practice of sleeping with all their sled dogs piled on them for warmth.

I can't believe there are people who have pets & don't allow them to sleep with them ever. I mean, aside from the admitted inconvenience of having, say, a Newfoundland taking up two thirds of your king-sized bed so that you & yours are squished along one edge hanging on for dear life; or the amazing ability of a certain merely 30-pound dog of my acquaintance who has an unerring ability to position himself in the exact middle of my queen sized bed so that there is no room anywhere for me to fit comfortably; ditto my only-ten-pound cat; so aside from all that, it's quite a cozy & lovely interspecies experience to snuggle with pets for a good sleep. Very spiritual, sharing that kind of intimacy with creatures who are not human & don't speak the same language as us.
'Course, they have the best of the deal, because they don't have to vacuum up their own fur, launder the sheets, or even buy the Advantix to prevent any unwelcome critters from sharing the spiritual experience.
And some people call them 'dumb' animals.....
-
ehehehe...thans for the chuckle again KAK. Puts a new spin on 'communal' living!

-
One of my cats likes to sleep UNDER the covers right between me and my husband.
-
One of my cats likes to sleep on my chest if I happen to be lying on my back. He only weighs 12 lbs but he's built like a small buffalo so he feels like he weighs 100 lbs. So it's really interesting to wake up & feel all this pressure on my chest & think for a second that I must be having a heart attack. You see, he's a black cat, so in the dark, I don't see him right away.......
-
I have a relative with many cats. I stayed with her recently and some of the cats came to sleep with me. Now there are good sleeping cats like the one keeping my feet warm, he and I shifted about during the night and settled down again quite nicely. And the one on my shoulder was pretty good too, she shifted herself as I shifted myself. BUT there was the cat of the little pointy feet. That one stomped about on me every time I moved and stomped until she was ready to sleep again. I never knew a cat could have such pointy feet.
Dogs we have kept off the bed, but a cat will do what a cat pleases. -
Someday my kids are going to start calling me that "crazy cat lady." I'll probably live in a little shack back in the woods with 76 cats taking care of me (ya think?)
I only have 4 now.

I have breaking news that is going to get myself kicked out of my own thread: The reason I haven't posted in a bit is I've been shredding, pitching stuff, fixing and scrubbing.
Before you gather a lynch mob, though, hear me out. My son is coming home for a visit this month. We haven't seen him in almost 2 years! I was worried if I didn't get my act together briefly, he might make us wait even longer for the next visit. Imagine being gone that long and coming home to a pig sty.
I haven't had time to catch up on here this morning and I feel badly about that. To pop in just to post about myself and then leave, is ruuuuuude, but I have to get back to work. This place isn't going to clean itself and I go back to work on Monday, so I only have this weekend and next weekend to rectify 2 years' worth of neglect. Oh, the humanity!
Hope you are all well and thanks for keeping the thread going!
-
g, dahling, I'm just personally glad to hear from you & that you're alive & kicking. Was starting to worry that maybe you got buried alive by some avalanche of detritus that slid off the kitchen table or something & that noone found you until it was too late.
I think we're going to have to give ourselves temporary dispensation on this thread for the holidays, because a lot of us have company for Christmas, etc., so we kinda have to clean the house, against all our instincts & inclinations. Myself included. That's what I have to start doing this morning, as soon as I finish my various avoidance tactics, like reading & posting on as many forum threads as possible.
But look at it this way. After we've all cleaned our houses, we have the fun of allowing them to get cruddy again.
-
Not to worry patrice. You'll probably crash and burn big time after pushing so hard. That's what always happens to me anyway. I finally got my house vacuumed and kitchen mopped in time for thanksgiving. I even scrubbed the shower and got rid of 90% of the grime. And, I wiped down half of the kitchen's drawers and shelves. This week, I can barely crawl out of bed.
Nope, nobody gets kicked off this thread unless you get your house spotless and then manage to keep it that way. lol
-
Misty the Lab is allowed on some beds, but not mine~~~she settles for the ivory carpet, which isn't ideal with her silky black fur. If the heat were go out, believe me, we'd all be cuddled as close as possible!
My house has open boxes of decorations in every room. Hanging things is hard when you are 3 weeks out of implant exchange. I have invited 25 for Christmas Night, so I HAVE to get this done.
Crawling back into bed with my very overdue mystery~~~~
-
Well, Daff, just hang it all low and explain to your company, that the elves who decorated forgot their step ladders, so nothing is hung is over hip height!

GSG, thinking about you with your test
HOpe it's going well! Now, please do NOT overdo with the housework.... remember to get back into slowly, so you don't pull a muscle!
I have one crazy cat who will not touch anywhere there are blankets. A little far sighted and freaks with any pattern on anything! SHE did attempt to sleep on my queen pillow above my head for a couple months, but we came to an agreement when she gouged my eyelid on her run off the pillow one night when frightened
Should've had stitches, but butterflied it closed! UGH!The other is my knee warmer. Just flips with me at night and settles back down. I never know she's there at night

Neither them no the dogs we used to have will sleep near dh, b/c he has the restless leg stuff. Kicks anyone/thing near him!

Awww {{{Hanna}}} so sorry you didn't get the pair
We raised 'the twins') 2 cocker sp sisters till they were nearly 15. Still can't consider getting another one or two
I miss them so much. They were such a big part of every aspect of our lives and have only been gone since 05, but man....it still hurts to see their pics
I hope you find that special one again, I really know you will. Maybe next time you walk in there will be another who chooses you yet again and you'll fit like a hand in a glove

Unconditional love is something anyone without pets will NEVER understand, NEVER know and NEVER appreciate from an animal
Sad for them. keep on trying to find another, there are so many waiting for homes, I'm sure you'll find one

I feel the same way. I feel like I am always tired, sad and hurting. My oncologist says that tomoxofin should not cause aches and pains but I have them. Maybe its from the chemo but that stopped 7 months ago. My house is a mess and I just want to go to bed when I get home from work! One piece of advice if the budget can handle it is a cleaning service. I have one once or twice a month. I try to do it on Fridays so I have a clean home for the weekends. It helps me think clearer. I am going to look into the anti-depressents!
-
Looking, I don't know how old you are, but tamoxifen can make you feel like you're going through menopause, which can & often does include aches & pains. Also, you probably haven't been very peppy for a while now, so you probably haven't stretched very much, so your joints & muscles are probably a little stiff. Sometimes, I don't think these docs know what the @#$%*& they're talking about & don't have any bleeping common sense (I'm a PT so I deal with this in my job a lot -- e.g., some surgeon tells a patient she has no restrictions after arthroscopic knee surgery, but it didn't occur to him that she might have to schlepp laundry up & down the basement stairs, so she blows her knee out again.) Effexor in particular is very effective for the side effects of hormone therapy. But some gentle exercise would probably be helpful -- emphasis on gentle, at least to start.
Hanna, I was so sad reading your post. Nearly all of my pets have always picked me, too, so I would be heart-broken about not being able to take home those two little sweeties. I have to tell you a story tho', along the lines of "you never know." When I first met my cat Chloe, someone else was supposed to adopt her & in fact signed the papers & so forth. Chloe was 8 years old then, & her mommy had died, so she needed a new home. So this nimnuts goes to pick her up & they go over Chloe's health history & the nimnuts hears that, once & only once, Chloe had a urinary infection which was treated & cleared up. So, the nimnuts decides that Chloe is therefore not perfect enough for her & decides not to adopt her after all. Her loss!! So, I got to take Chloe home after all & it's been LOVE ever since.
Chloe asked me to convey to you her love & fuzzyness & to tell you not to lose heart, because all this might mean that another fuzzy-wuzzy that you haven't met yet needs you even more.

-
Aw Kathi! She's precious! What a fuzzball!
Have to love those paws! -
Wish, sometimes she lets me smooch those fuzzy paws with their adorable pink pads. She soooo soft, a person could die of pleasure snuggling with her! She's sitting on my lap purring as I type this.
-
Kathi - she's a purry precious!! What a sweet patootie!! Kiss her lil' pink piggies for me!
-
Oh yes, I've always been a kitty toe person myself! Never liked people toes, but love kitty toes!
Mine are used to my massaging them
-
-
Funny how our animals more than family/friends just seem to know when we really need that touch, even if ever so simple. Your furry friend knows you needed that loving, even being hard for him/her to do, they shared it

-
I haven't read any of these yet...but just got back from my biopsy. I posted what happened in my thread about it. Here's a link:

Appreciate your prayers.

Just commented on your thread Patrice, but am extending a hand to hold till you get that call!
Was at the court house dealings about this scumbag, and missed the call from gyno on that TV/ US last week! @#($#@&(# and why he couldn't have just said, everythings fine, but I'd like you to call me anyway? NO! Just says he's gotten the results and would like me to contact him! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH, and I didn't mention the numbscull most likely has been sitting on this report since last Tuesday. B/c when I saw my pcp on tuesday of last week, HE had the test resultf already, but b/c gyno ordered the test, he couldn't let me have a copy! GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! IDIOTS!
-
Patrice,
I was out of town when you started the thread about your bx, and I've posted on that thread also. I'll be thinking about you and praying for you.
Wish,
Oh, that is just awful!! You poor dear, having to deal with that scumbag, and then to miss your gyn dr's call! And, yes, that is what they always say... please contact your dr. about your test results. I was SO mad when I finally got called, and I was not at home when they called... typical! They said the same thing.... that I should contact them. My dh said that NO NEWS was GOOD NEWS, but I knew that wasn't true, since I have those fibroid tumors, but they didn't even mention them.
Sending HUGS your way! Please let us know when you get the TV u/s results. I am thinking good thoughts, that your results will be all good!!!
love,Harley
-
Well, the gyn said he'd be in the office till 3 today and if not tomorrow
I knew he wouldn't call back today darn it! I will tell him my pcp had the results last tuesday but wouldn't share them, hopefully he'll be shamed for not calling last week when he got the results! The last 2 times he called at 8 am, so I figured he would this time too ( Hope that doesn't mean he calls the good reports in the morning and teh poor ones in the afternoon
SHOOT! GREAT! Now I'm worried! The only thing I could get out of the techy that day they did it,was that my endo stipe had increased by double. While that's not good, it was still under 5, so who knows what he'll say to do now! HATE THIS DANGED WAITING! Specially when I know he the results LAST WEEK!
Waiting with you Patrice! Hopefully we'll both get our tomorrow!

-
I'll be waiting to hear from you BOTH, Patrice and Wish!!
Sending lots of HUGS your way!!
Harley

Rats, Patrice. Just posted on your other thread. B9 thoughts go out to you & to Wish. And by the way, could you have your doc, who seems to understand the virtue of speeding things up, call Wish's doc & tell him to get his thumb outta his butt?
Hope you both get B9 results tomorrow.
