Chit....dis is de zombie Kat checkin into de lounge....well stumbling in would be more like it. Took 17 hrs from when we left the condo in HI till we got to our house, and I didn't sleep on the plane. I hate that....but I watched 3 recent movies each way, going over and coming back. Just got home a couple of hours ago. SO tired. Becks, you hosting a PJ partay? I might show up but I will jest wanna sleep so I wud be a partay pooper. And whats this you said about "tender's wood"???? LOL, youse so silly.
Bernie, OMG how awful!!! Cracked knee cap AND broken toe. Girlfriend, I *think* it was 4sew that said why don't you just drink on the floor? Sounds like a plan, to me! Hope you will heal totally and not need anything done to your knee. And broken toes are SO sore...been there, done that, but not my knee. Ouch!
Dorkie, Sure hope your situation is improving!!!!! I don't know how you are coping with all that is going on right now. (((Dork)))
4sew, I laffed at you writing "I could start a male order"! LOL. You fit right in here purrrrrrfectly!
Lara, where in HI does your cuz live? I had more fun telling the locals we met about my g'g'gpa inventing the ukulele around 1865. Then I (and I may have said this the other day?) bought another book that mentions him several times and says the King (King Kalakaua) gave my g'g'gpa permission to use the Hawaiian Seal on his ukuleles, and ONLY HE could use it, as 2 others invented it with him, but he did the most elaborate ukes with inlays, and also played for the King, and was his favorite entertainer. Too bad a big fire (Chinatown in HI I think) burned down his shop, and he stopped making them. King Kalakaua also was heavily promoting the ukulele as he thought it had a prominent place in Hawaiian music. But OMG getting to go onto the Hokulea was awesome.
Sue, the round-the-world trip the Hokulea is going to make (will take 3 yrs) starts in May of next year, I think, then after going to all the islands close by, it then goes to Tahiti in June or so, so prolly won't be in the Cook Islands till later in the summer.
Cami, Your DD is sick? I haven't gotten to read the posts yet, but hope she is improving!!!!!
NM, Yes the green flash really exists (much to my DH's chagrin)....I see it mostly in HI, as my dad's condo is right on the beach and the sun sets directly in front, over the water, so a perfect view. Only seen it a handful of times though....and once on a cruise in the middle of the ocean. You only see it if there are no clouds on the horizon, and you have to watch for the exact second the sun disappears below the horizon. Here is what wikipedia says about it (but I think it looks more like a dash than a dot)...also going to add a picture...
Green flashes and green rays are optical phenomena that occur shortly after sunset or before sunrise, when a green spot is visible, usually for no more than a second or two, above the sun, or it may resemble a green ray shooting up from the sunset point. Green flashes are a group of phenomena stemming from different causes, and some are more common than others.[1] Green flashes may be observed from any altitude (even from an aircraft). They usually are seen at an unobstructed horizon, such as over the ocean, but are possible over cloud tops and mountain tops as well.
Hugs to ALL!!!!!!!

Hi all---
Well Kat's home everything sounded wonderful and I saw that little green flash, which I never heard of--Now go to sleep.
Dork what's going on my sweety.
Lara I'm sure u feel bad about the job, but u have alot going for u--u'll see something wil com along even better for you.
BTW super choice of BEVERAGES and the hat has to be in England right? Or her head really attracts butterflies.
-
OUCH Bernie! I remember you talking about that other spill you took when you fell asleep. Do you have crutches?
Thanks NM....I didnt think that the bleeding the nurse mentioned was dire. She has pre cancer cells wich is what she is running rampant with right now. The thing is that she was sick before she came here. She is leaving tomorrow morning. I will miss her companionship but I look forward to getting all of me back.
Glad you are safely home Zombi Katwinka and that you had such a relaxing time on vaca. I find it so amazing that you have so much history there in HI. You should really catalog everything. Jodi mentioned this past summer that she wanted a uke and wanted to take lessons. Kind of random for a New England girl. She was on the news yesterday btw...her school was in lockdown due to a stabbing. Scary world we live in ..eh?
AND speaking of schools...Lara..I will pray hard that something comes your way.
AWESOME to see Mema Sue in da house..whooop whooop! Now lets dragg Ms. Vino's butt in here !
Safe Travels Juls

WOW I have soooo many pages to ketchup on. Cyn, I didn't realize your roomie had health issues....sounds like you had some good times with her, but will be nice to have your "space" and "downtime". I sure need that! Sure hope your son gets that EMT training (I think I read that was the direction he wanted to go). Cool that Jodi wants to play the uke. I bought one a long time ago and the other day bought a beginners uke book. Maybe I will try it too. Also my DH bought me a KIT to make your own ukulele....but that was a few years ago and I haven't started it yet....lol. There is a ukulele group of older people that meets at a church here, I thought it would be fun to drop in one day and tell them the history. My grandma, Nana, (it was her grandpa that invented the uke) used to play and I would do the hula for her....good memories. Of course it was a VERY simple hula, I am not talented that way. Met a local on the beach on this trip that was a cousin to "IZ" who really changed the way the ukulele got into the mainstream. I still love his original rendition of Over the Rainbow. Too bad he died so young, but he was quite large. That same local guy had another cousin that moved HERE last year...and apparently still trying to adjust...lol. EECCCKKK there was a stabbing at Jodi's school? How awful...I have not seen the national news yet. Did see a bit about the UA pilot that had a heart attack during last nights flight...and he later died...so sad...but weird since we were flying all night too. So glad there are always at least 2 pilots.
And Lara, you didn't get the job you wanted? I really am behind on everything, and I feel the right job will come along. Hang in there, and keep healing, and when its the right time (as long as the bills will wait too), the purrfect job will come along. YOU have such talent, and experience, that they will be lucky to !have you.
Cami, how is your DD? I still don't know what she has, but hope she is ok.
Julie OMG your eye candy pics....when I opened my computer in MickeyD's I had to cover the screen! LOL. When is YOUR trip? I think its soon.
Nice to be home in air conditioning....miss the sunsets, but I like where I live. Just nice to visit HI every so often. We did a few things I wanted to do...and of course next trip can do some other things...too many to try to fit into every trip. I did miss the Shave Ice with ice cream, as well as laulaus...but had most everything else! One of my bco friends will be in HI on Sunday....just missed each other.
P.S. If anyone wants to give me a synopsis of what has been going on with everyone the past 10 or 11 days, I sure would appreciate it! Sorta like Cliff Notes....
Hugsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, (I took this from Junie, she always wrote "hugs" this way),

Good evening, Loungettes! TGIF!!!! Bring on the dwinkies!!!!!!!!!!
Goldie--I am planning to have a very nice weekend. It's going to be really nice this weekend so I'm going to get the outside stuff done to put the property to bed for the winter, and get some apples, maybe do a little cooking.
Cammy--Yes, Dr. Cammy, I will take your prescription and follow it faithfully!
Mema--You see that rut that leads to the Fukitol fountain? That's my trail! That stuff is GOOD!!!!!
Wahine--Welcome home! I bet you are going to enjoy your own bed a LOT tonight! Great pic of the Green Flash. Can't wait to see pics of the vacay. Now go get some lovely sleep.
ORLA--{{{{Hugs}}} to you!
OK, is that hat going to take off and carry the hair with it?????
CynCyn--sounds like you have been stretched pretty thin recently. Hope you get some down time to recharge really soon.
-
NM...that sounds like a lovely way to spend the weekend.
-
Wahine. I have been here and need the cliff notes too. Doesn't help that I came late to the party and don't have back stories..oh,except that one about Bernie fallen asleep and fallen on her nose. Then she did it again, but on her knee and toe. For Christmas I'm goannas get her one of those beach chairs that yur butt basically rests on the ground and it has arms to hold you in!
Thinking to have DH make me a spread sheet and start readin old pages to figure out who is where and has what chaos going on.
Wahine is in BAMA! She close to me. Florida ladies not to far either. SC either.
Ok. I in my Jammie's and have the weenies. Did you alls want cocktale size or foot longs? Did you want them dressed up? Oh wait, they only know about that past time on that other thread. Cami, shhhhhh. Oh, but should I bring some of that soup?. You know the one.....
Goldie. Is that sauce ready for the weenies?
NM I see the rut. Be right there. -
Oh, I forgot....gotta add this to the STUPID COMMENTS people make to you when you say you had/have cancer. Was talking to a couple of ladies from Filthadelphia at the Honolulu airport yesterday at our gate, and somehow the conversation ended up about cancer. When I said I had breast cancer, one lady said....and I swear this is true..."Then why do you have all your hair?"!!! LOL. I swear, some people have no clue.
Yes NM, that sure does sound nice!!! I like how you put your property "to bed for the winter". I really need to do a lot outside too, but not sure what I will get done. You are SO organized, and I admire that, among other things, about you!
Is Becks still having the PJ partay tonight???????????????
-
Did you tell her you didn't have hair cancer, some peeps just ignant
The weenies is warmin up so there better be a PJ party. I even got out my pjs without holes. The pants ones so my butt doesn't hang out -
OOPS, did I bump into ya, Lynne???? Didn't mean to bump ya into da pewl. BUT ya see, wid all dese tenders, one of dem caught you....looks like Chile Boy...he is a cutiepie I met in China. You would like him, good looking guy from Chile. And as far as SIZE of weiners we prefer, I mean, come on....size DOES matter!!! LOL.....but puleez excuse me I still have not gotten any sleep yet....so I have an excuse as to why I am rambling.
Kath
-
OMG thats a riot...why didn't I think of that....telling her I didn't have "hair cancer"!!!!! ROFLMAO Instead, stupid me goes into the whole song-and-dance about my bilat mast and recon. Then she says she has a relative who chose not to have recon because of her AGE. Then when she said her age, I said that is the same age I am and they were shocked. At least they said one thing nice, they said I looked much younger. SO then they turned into nice ladies...lol. And I did refrain from calling their city "Filthadelphia" as Dorkie has named it!
