I have to run..gotta take Casey for her shots and so on..but...
Michele..that is fine! I will arrive on Friday and not Thurs. But..if there is a block of rooms..oh I see...Laura said we don't have enough rooms..okay..it still comes out okay. never mind that!
I am guessing now that Lincolnshire was decided upon and not downtown Chicago?
oh..but it can be changed I guess...
I'm fine with that. Paula..you can stay in our room. That would be 3 in a room and that's good. I have no problem sleeping on a cot, sofa or sharing a bed...really! I'm not picky for a couple of nights. I'm with you..I need to save my bucks.
Gotta run..will catch you all later.
oh..yes, Michele..RoseMarie not only SOUNDS sweet..she IS sweet! A true southern belle :-) -
Deb,
Laura posted both the rates for the Marriott Lincolnshire and the Hyatt Downtown. The Hyatt's rate was $187.00 per night versus $127.00 for the Lincolnshire. So it made sense for me to book the Lincolnshire. I also had to think about the CDN versus U.S. dollar so at $187.00U.S. that would be at least $200 CDN per night.
The Marriott's reservations policy is also very flexible in that you can cancel with no fee up until 6:00 p.m. of arrival date. I am a planner and didnt want to have the trip up in the air. Deb has booked her flight portion of the trip arriving in Clevland on Aug 16 and leaving the U.S. on September 1 so I knew that I wouldnt be alone in Chicago with the exception of Laura.
Hope Casey is okay.
Have a great Monday.
Michele -
Oh wow...big difference. If by chance we DO get 10 rooms there, then I'm sure we could still get the block room price, but I guess it won't be happening.
I also don't like it up in the air and so..I have no problem with this. I'll be your roomie but just Fri and Sat nights. I think Paula will be bunking with us, so...and if Jill comes..we will have a full house!
Casey is okay. What a line over there! It's socialized medicine for the dogs, too!!! Cheaper when we go to the village hall but it's only twice a year and if you miss it you have to do it private. And it's only for an hour and a half. So, dog owners were all over the place pushing in line. And one guy had a growling Rothwieler who wouldn't keep his thingy on his mouth (whatever that is called)and so they took him first so that he would go home! And they marked him "dangerous" and the owner said.."he's not dangerous" and we just all gaped at him!
Casey was tamer than in her earlier years. She just wanted to go home but she wasn't as upset as usual. In fact, all the smaller dogs were well behaved and since most of the dogs were big and barking and not well behaved, that says a lot for our little ones!!!!
I called about my bone scan and she told me that it was already in the mail to me! OMG! That is way too fast. I hope everything was okay on it! -
V... estate sale...selling your things..wow. I see it as a new era..yes..you are entering a new era. hmmmmm...I think Debbie in England may have said that already. Us Debbies think alike :-)
-
Hello ladies!!
Love the photo Mary-Anne!! You and dd are beautiful, you can see where she gets her beauty!
Mary, great job working out. For me, I am lucky I go to the gym once a week, very hard with my schedule and daughter.
Paula, good luck with reconstruction. I couldn't read how much your visit to dr was? I am nearing the surgery date as well.
Debbie, tell your daughter, her hair is beautiful....so is her parrott.
Ravdeb, good luck with your scans and Casey!!
Victoria, I am happy and sad for you about your estate sale .... new beginnings are not easy.
-----------
I am having a hard time with this page because of the picture size ... even if I scroll over, I cannot see the right hand margins, many words are cut off. So, it's kinda hard to totally catch up on you all!!! On a Mac, if the pictures are too large, it just disjoints the whole page. Resizing them to fit the normal post is fine, I know Brenda has the same problem. -
For some reason I cannot edit my post ..
On the longer sentences, it's right off the right
hand side of the page and I was going to edit
it so at least I could read my own post.
But I cannot press the edit button or the reply
button. -
ok, it was only that disjointed page I could not edit on ... this page is fine
Just wanted Laura to know that it was way over 80º the other day in
Santa Barbara County (we were in Santa Inez) but today, it is raining.
Are ya happy now?? LOL Oh and it's 51º cold. I have to turn on the
heater!!!! -
This is Solvang .... it's 3 miles away from Santa Inez. This is where we
went on Saturday.Quote:
In Solvang (which means sunny field in Danish), the
Danish Capital of America, quaint, time-honored architectural
styles create a walkable village nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley
Wine Country. Tile roofs are topped with replicas of
nesting storksconsidered good luck tokens by the
traditional Danish immigrants who settled
here in 1911. -
Just spoke with my sister over the phone (It's about 1 am over there). I told her I promised Ma I'd call her around this time, but there was no answer. My sister said it was probably because a great weight has been lifted off her shoulders. Apparently my sister was with her when the GI doctor interpreted the radiologist's report: There's nothing wrong with her GI tract! The doctor said that because of her age (87) she is just needing extra help in the bathroom dept., and prescribed something for her to take during meals.
I thank you for your concern, prayers and thoughts. And thanks, Tadah, for wondering where I was.
I also want to comment about Mary-Anne's and Debbie's photos: You have such lovely daughters!!! I have two lovely boys, you know. One's 21 (will be 22 soon) and the other one is 11. Hehehe. I have been known to match-make in my heyday. Hehehe.
Anyway, feeling giddy for a moment. I would like to thank someone for the stunning little heart that came in the mail on V-day. Your gift is proof that big things come in small packages! And, I would like to thank another someone for her awesome Happy New Year card...better late than never!! -
Brenda..that is terrific news!!! So happy to hear that.
http://book.illinois-hotels.org/hotel/10011773-10205160O.html
Okay..for those who want to be totally confused..after I saw the price of the hotel in Lincolnshire, I decided to look up the hotels in Oak Park once again. The reason is that there are two of them and they are walking distance to the train and they are the same price as in Lincolnshire. The train or the elevated train known as the EL takes you to downtown Chicago in 15 minutes, letting you out right in the middle of the city. It's cheaper than staying smack in the city, is closer to the O'Hare airport where most of you will be flying into so the cab cost might be cheaper and well..Oak Park, as Laura can attest to..is a fascinating place in itself with lots of history and all walking distance from either of two hotels.
Check it out...
Kelly...looks like a great place. sounds like you had a good time. YOu sound like you are in a good mood.
Nice.
Michele..love the pictures!
Paula..just saw the picture of you with your beautiful curls on the other thread.
G'nite. -
Brenda - that is so good to hear. I have just got back from settling Dad in a t home - he was allowed out of hospital today - hope its for longer tHAN 2 hrs this time!! Thats all of the oldies accounted for!!
Kelly - that looks lovely. Is it a real village or a restored attraction? It looks like my sisters holiday photos from Holland.
Sam is sat on my knee making it hard to reach some keys so sorry in advance.
Ravdeb - are we not all stopping in th esame place? I looked at the link and i dont think i can get 4 in a room. Think i will go ahead and book with Michelle And Rosemarie - then at least there will be th e3 of us, 2 husbands and 5 kids!!
Debbie -
Kelly -
Better get out those mittens! Ha-Ha! LOL Do you know how to do a poll here? Please let me know.
Brenda -
So glad Mom's okay! Whew...
ravdeb -
I really don't know that section of Oak Park. The only section I know of is the North end - which is where our wedding was held. Keep in mind that alot of the smaller hotels only offer 1 double bed in a room - it's important you verify that and also make sure there's parking available for those that are traveling by car (cindy, rosemarie, cathy, debbie). And also...is there a meeting room available for us for Friday night? Please let us know. Thanks!
-------------------------------------------------
Hope EVERYONE is doing well!
Where's Tracy Seattle? Is she still at the LOVE FEST! LOL
Laura -
How 'bout this poll
-
Brenda - wonderful news about your mom!
Kelly - beautiful! One of these years I will make it to the west coast!
Victoria - good luck - thinking of you as you make your decisions! Thanks for the prayers, btw!
Deb - wow, glad you'll be getting the results back quickly. Do you have to read and interpret it all yourself or do you have a follow up appt. to discuss the results with a dr.? (You are too sweet, btw!)
Michele - forgot to mention that I love all the dog pics!
Laura - how are you feeling?? I know you were busy with Valentine's day - have things slowed down a bit for you? Hey, aren't you heading to MX soon??
We're going to Florida in July - I can't wait to go to the BEACH!!
oops - forgot John Michael's oragami class - actually thought it would be cancelled - his teacher just called - gotta run! -
hi girls,
ok, here are the pics as promised:
this is me with one of my best friends and her hubby (she is pregnant as you can see!):
with other friends: -
Paula, you are so lovely! Did you have a bilateral?
You also look so healthy, I love love you hair!! -
RoseMarie -
Thanks for asking. Things have slowed down a bit, but now I'm working on St. Pat's and Easter products. Yes, we are leaving for MX in 9 days - Feb 28th. Your trip to FL in July sounds like fun too! The sea, the sun, the sand!
Paula -
You look FAB! OMG - your hair is adorable. I am so envious of your curls! -
Hi ladies,
I've been lurking and have caught up on all your posts.
Brenda...I'm so glad your mom is okay!
Deb...I'm thinking good, good thoughts for your scan to be okay and for the doctors to give you more information about how to feel better. hang in there!
I've loved all the pictures of children, houses, dogs, and of course, you ladies....Paula...you look so sassy with your curly hair. Sometimes I wish mine had come back curly, but it's nice and thick and dark, so I'll take it
I'm still trying to figure out if I can come to Chicago. If I do come, I already have a place to stay because I have close friends in the city. We're a bit tight on money right now because we have a lot of trips planned and we're going to Montreal the weekend after the Rocktober meeting, so we'll do our best
Other than that, things are good. I'm enjoying my breast cancer break although my husband caught my yesterday looking at all the reports from my scans. I just wanted to see...to reassure myself that they didn't find anything then, so why would anything just pop up? I'm working out a lot more than usual at the gym with weights and my lower back has been really uncomfortable, but I'm reassuring myself and reminding myself that things are okay, I feel healthy, live my life...
I'm going this weekend to the young survivor's breast cancer conference here in DC. (it's annual and this year, they picked DC as the site, so I had to sign up). It's lots of speakers, workshops, etc. I have mixed feelings about going because I don't want a weekend dedicated soley to breast cancer, but my close friend, Beth (she's BethNY here on these boards) is coming to stay with me, so I'll go with her and take it day by day this weekend. We'll see. My husband finally told me to stop denying that I had breast cancer, stop taking breaks from everything that is related to breast cancer, and just try to accept it, mainly to help other people, to give my support and understanding to others who may need it, and talk about my feelings and try to keep integrating it into my life, so that my fears of cancer don't have control over me. That boy is smart. So, I'm trying.
Here's a recent pic...my college basketball team, Georgetown, played my husband's college basketball team, Villanova. Our dads went to those schools and the schools are huge rivals. Georgetown won
Love,
Amy

Amy -
I'm so glad you popped in! Great photo...try to keep the conference in perspective...I'm sure it will be an empowering experience and a great reason to have some fun with Beth. -
Paula, I second that, you look great....and I love your hair. GREAT pictures.
Deb, It sounds like everything must be OK with your scan if they sent out the results. That should be a relief for you.
Debbie, Glad to hear your Dad is doing better and he is home.
Brenda, Wonderful new's that your Mom is OK.
Kelly, What a pretty picture. I have never been anywhere but the east coast of the US and Canada. I guess it is time to widen my horizen's.
Rosemarie, I am trying to talk my husband into going to Florida next month. We have friends near Sarasota.
Victoria, Good luck with your sale.
Just so you know, I am totally confused on what is going on in August. I think I will wait until the plans are finalized but the Marriott sound's OK with me. I still have to get my husband to commit as he keep's telling me we still have time. Oh Well, everyone else make your plans and I will meet up with you somehow. I know one thing, I won't miss it so don't count me out. -
Amy and Laura, Hi..I was posting at the same time. Amy good to see you again and have fun with your friend. I recognize her name because I always think of my niece Beth who lives in NY. Your right your husband is smart so take his advice. Your hair is amazing, it is so long.....
-
I still havent got my results of any of my tests on Feb 7. I called my oncologist office today and the receptionist said that the hospital that I had the tests at had faxed my oncologist them on Friday. He never called me with them but told me that if I didnt hear from him, he hadnt got them. I know that he was coming off working a 24 hour shift when I saw him on Friday so maybe he forgot, dont know. The receptionist said that my chart was updated with the results but she couldnt give me the results over the phone, standard protocol which I understand. So I call the oncology clinic that he works out of and the girl there says yes they were faxed to him on Friday but she cant give me the results that I will have to wait until next Monday when he comes back from holidays. Like argh......I am so frustrated with the lack of compassion here. Come on people..wake up how would you like to be in my shoes???
I then called my GP's office to see if she had the results as the clinic said she would by now. Guess what she is not in the office until tomorrow afternoon!! I know that I am just venting but the waiting her is nutso. Thanks for letting me vent, I have said my peace.
Not feeling too great today, feeling pretty spacy. I had a really crappy sleep last night and just had my Zoladex injection on Friday, so I hoping that when I wake up tomorrow I'll feel better. I have removed my pictures for now, will put them back up tomorrow smaller. Sorry ladies, I thought that I had made them smaller than last time.
Brenda - great news about your mom.
Paula - I love your curls, your hair looks alot like mine only yours is a couple months ahead of mine. You are gorgeous! I like your comment, there is light at the end of the tunnel and its not a train.LOL. You go girl!!!
Amy - happy to see your smiling face again. Your hubby is a smart man, we sometimes dont think that husband's pick up on our feelings, but they do!! Enjoy your time with Beth NY and take away the knowledge that you will gain from the YS Conference, you are a survivor.
Laura - you mexican vacation sounds wonderful, are you packed yet?
Gracyie - I probably created the confusion. Laura had recently posted some good rates that she got for the Marriott Lincolnshire at $127 US per night and then also mentioned that the Hyatt in downtown Chicago is $187.00 per night. We hadnt made a group decision as to where everyone wanted to stay. I booked a room with two double beds at the Marriott Lincolnshire as it was really reasonable and taking into account the exchange rate from CDN to US. dollars it made sense to me. I am a planner by nature and wanted to get everything out of the way. I also have my flight booked for Aug 23-Aug 26 as the flight prices for me are incredible and will go up if I wait. I already knew that Deb (England) had booked her flights as well so I wouldnt be alone in Chicago with the exception of Laura. The reservation at the Marriott Lincolnshire can be cancelled right up to 6:00 p.m. the date of arrival so if there is a drastic change and everyone wants to stay someone else I can still change the reservation.
Have a good evening everyone.
Michele -
Michele -
No I'm not packed yet! I have to start soon though.
Graycie -

Brendaso very happy to hear the good news about your Ma. Debbieglad your Dad is on the recovery trail too.

Love the new faces girls, Gail, Kelly.
Paula, you and your friends are the happiest best looking bunch of celebrators Ive ever seen. Love your curls.
To all you reconstruction folksIll be joining you June 4. Will finally loose my port then. RoseMarieglad the nips are shaping up. I still dont know if Ill do them. Kelly, cant remember, are you doing just a single too?
Michelewhat happened to your pictures? I know I saw them. Didnt realize your new name was your dogs name. Really cute. (Just read your latest post so my question is answered. I don't think your picture caused a problem this time.)
Amyglad to see your post. I think you have one smart husband. Love the picture. Have a good time with your friend, Beth.
DebI hope all is well with you and your scans show nothing more than what you expect them too. I really relate to pain. Some days Im feeling great and then some days I wonder where all the aches and pains are coming from. Knee, ankle, fingers, toes, hip. Almost everywhere except my back. I know what you mean about not wanting the side effects of the pain medication. Aleve allows me to walk but I have to take Prilosec in order to prevent stomach ulcers. A new knee is what I need but dont have time for it. I also need to schedule cataract surgery for my right eye. (Had the left one done about five years ago) The right one was really affected by the chemo. Do I sound like an old woman?
I dont often talk about all these things because frankly I dont often think about them but lately Ive felt just a little overwhelmed and thats when I just get tired of not feeling good.
Actually, I took 10 years off this past week in NY. Had hair colored and cut. The tips were more than I pay to have my hair done in ND! I justified it with all Ive saved the last two years. LOL So now Im a 50 something blonde!
The best news is that I think Spring is on its way to North Dakota. Snow is melting. Yahoooooo!
I think Ill quit on that note. -

It's tough, but try to hang in there. And try to get more rest...a hot bath...treat yourself to a massage...you deserve it. Melting snow is a GOOD thing. LOL

Sweet dreams... -
Ok, I've chit chatted on the phone about this funny episode this weekend and decided to post it........
We got to Santa Inez, checked into our lovely room, changed and went to an old Saloon and had more than a few drinks. We walked back to our Inn and it our room had 2 queen beds and I said when I walked in that I was sleeping in my own bed!! So, we went to sleep and apparently, David had to go to the bathroom and made a wrong turn.
His wrong turn led him out the door and into the inn's hallway and the door automatically locked!!! He spent a half an hour knocking on the door (at first tapping then getting louder). Another guest heard him knocking at the beginning of the half hour and finally the lady peeked out to see what was up and saw him out there in his boxers!!!!
She offered him a robe and he took it, of course. Then he found out that the lady was the wife of the consultant his company hired and he was in the room and they called the room and I didn't answer!!!! To be fair, the phone was across the room. I never heard it ring. They said they called for half an hour.
He had to go down and get another key, it didn't work and he had to go down and get another. Finally, he got in and said he shook me to make sure I was alive!! LOL.... So that's what happens when you drink 3 Jaeger bombers!
The next day, everyone was calling David "Mr Sleepyhead" !! It was so funny. And of course, they thought we had gotten into an argument and I'd kicked him out. I was laughing so hard that tears were coming out of my eyes! -
I feeling better this morning yah! I am full of piss and vinegar today as my mom would say.LOL.
Kelly - your story is so funny but I bet David didnt think it was. It will be something to remember down the road and you will laugh your silly heads off. I bet Teryn was one happy little girl to see her mom.
TracySeattle - I dont see your new avtar? Or did you even post one (memory bank low here, haa haa)? I love the pictures you look great with your new hair and very happy. The hotel looks like a quaint like pictureous village, where was that?
Laura - I you enjoyed your long bath. With you though on the menopause, and AI se's.
Deb - how is your back today?
Hello to all my other wonderful sisters. Enjoy your day.
Here are the pictures reposted again, as I guess the size of them are okay. Please dont be afraid to say if I ever post the pictures and they are too big!
Scooby in her new coat.
Some goofy pictures of scooby and I out in the snow on Sunday.
