Yeah, Roger left RBS a while ago now ( when we married he worked there and iworked for Halifax!) about 9 years i think. He was sick of having to reach targets etc. His best mate still works there tho - some sort of Hunter role or something.
my son is camping next weekend with cubs!
Debbie -
Laura , Yipee! is right.......I am so Happy for you. Now you can enjoy your weekend.
Tracy , I am glad you mentioned you are tired too.. I needed that today because I am really exhausted. Actually the last couple days I have been like this. I was afraid there was something wrong with me. I kind of think the weather change doesn't help. I used to function on 6 hours sleep and felt great now I need a lot more and wake up tired like you said. That is so nice that you have, should I say "a date." He sound's funny so I hope you have a fun time. Let us know how it goes. Did it hurt having your port out? Now you can feel like you are really moving on.
Mary , Good new's about Tipper.........I am so glad for you......
Victoria , So sorry about you relationship with your sister and Mary you too......I have three sisters and I don't know what I would do without them. They have been there for me every step of the way. Even when my one sister was so sick and we thought we were losing her all she cared about was how I was doing........Oh my, it is bringing tears......Thank God she made it through her ordeal and hopefully she is around for many years.
Ravdeb and Debbie , That chocolate spread sounds terrible.........lol
Debbie , Good luck with your balloon ride tomorrow......I am sure Victoria will be looking out for you as you pass over her house........
Tadah , You may run into my son, he lives in Brooklyn and I am sure he will be out partying too......Don't corrupt him now...........ha.
Amy , I hope your plans don't get washed away. I live near Buffalo and it is calling for a lot of rain here too.....Nice picture of your family and you all have pink on......
Rosemarie , Love the pictures of your kids.......Poor Justin, that had to hurt......
Ok, I better go and eat dinner my husband just picked up a pizza so no cooking for me tonight.......yeah.....
Everyone have a good weekend but I am sure I will be back on before it is over............
Graycie -
LAURA!!!! I am soooo happpyyyy!!!! Good News!!!! Now you can enjoy the weekend, go do something to celebrate!
Rosemarie - what cute kids!!!
Guess What??? I am "Portless in Seattle!!!!" So glad to have it gone. I couldn't feel a thing when they removed it except a lot of pusing and pulling - it was really weird. Now the anesthetic is wearing off and I am getting sore. The surgeon told me to take it easy this weekend and not to do anything strenuous - WELL OK!!! I can do that!!! ;-) -
I am very happy for you, Laura. I will uncross my fingers now.
-
Great News Laura and Tracy concrats on getting your port removed. This has been such a long week at work I am so glad to have 3 days off. PS called this morning and said my reconstructive surgery is scheduled for October 24th, Then this afternoon my onc called and wants me to have a metastatic work up since it has been a year since diagnosis I guess we will discuss it next week at my appt on the 8th. Hopefully mine will go as well as everyone else's have seemed to go. Have a great weekend!!!!

Scottishlass
Welcome to our little nutso corner of the world! I read you are from Edinburgh and I have to tell you, that is one of my favorite cities in the world. I went to Scotland about 10 years ago and it was such fun. We were staying in Glasgow and only got to go to Edinburgh for a day. It was lovely, though. -
Marymelodi: Hip hip hooray!!!!! I am so happy that Tipper has come home. I remember when my cat, Tigger, disappeared for a few days, it was truly panic time. But cats will be cats!
---------
Tadah ----- make sure to take some pictures of the half naked gyrating men for us. That is something we should truly behold. Have a great time. You are so funny, girl. I think you would just love my daughter, she has the same spirit as you do!
-----------
Laura, What can I say???? I am so relieved. This whole thing was like it was happening to all of us. Tell that da** onc off and give him the rest of our minds! We are truly not women to be messed with. And by the way, that's a hot honey man you have there. -
Brenda, did you start school yet?? How are your kids??
--------
sherryhaire, you know we will be holding our breath when your appointments come around. I still have to schedule my reconstruction. I have had this durn expander in for about year now!!!!
---------
Tracy, tell us all about the new guy. Hope you have fun meeting up with him. Glad all went well with the port removal!! Hopefully, the scar isn't too big. Hopefully, you aren't sleepless in Seattle!!
--------
Debbie, you are too funny. I think you should invest in stock in band-aids. I love the new pictures of your children. Did you have laproscopic oopherectomy??? I am having trouble with one of the outer inscissions. It is being stubborn and not healing well at all. Are you still going to get the car? Sounds like what we call "salvage titles" when an insurance company pays off the loss and then someone wants to buy it after that. -
Rosemarie, now how did I miss what happened to Justin? How did that cute little nose get broken??? You have beautiful children, even if Justin's nose is broken!
Thanks for asking about me. I am doing ok. You know me, single mom, no support from her dad .... no choice but to return to work 2 weeks before I was supposed to. I only took a week off when the doc said 3 weeks off. Needless to say, I am quite exhausted.
Not to mention, Teryn got a case of pink eye already at school. I forgot my cell phone at home and was not working at my store but had to go to a senior management meeting at our corporate office. After the meeting I went off to lunch and school was calling my normal office and only the GSM and I were not there and he was the only one who knew I had no phone so all the other managers were wondering why I was not calling in to find out about my daughter!! It was not considered an emergency so the school didn't contact those on her emergency card .... but I got the message when I went home to pick up my phone! -
Cathy,
Welcome to the Roctober girls. You seem to be as chatty as we are. I got your birthday booked. Glad you made it safe to Iowa. -
Wildflowers ...... welcome. I am so glad you decided to be part of a group and I am glad that you picked ours. I am so happy your scans are clear. How scary to have been stage 3 and not do chemo. I wish we had been there for you. I saw your house on one of the picture threads. I hope you show us more of it along with your artwork. I love how you bring in your Spanish language as you post. I live in California and we speak alot of "spanglish" here. At work, the hispanics call me "huera" ..... They give all of us gringos a spanish nickname!
-
Laura - been lurking to check on your results - what great news!!!
-
Well i got to the launch site - then they called it off ! They said it was ok about the moent but the weather was coming in fast and what with the way the wind was going we would have drifted into Sheffield airspace. One balloon did go up, and it went past so fast it was like a white knuckle ride!
Kelly - i went back to work a week after my ooph and was fine. They took my stitches out rather than let them dissolve because the nurse said the pain i was having was from then being in too tight. It felt a lot better then.
I am not having that car, but i think i have bought another. I am not getting excited till it is on my drive this time!
Debbie -
Jill - is it a resemblance?
-
Victoria..that sounds very good indeed with NO meat. We don't eat pork and really very little beef anyway.
But, tell me...when you saute the chiles...is it like REALLY spicy? My girlfriend's boyfriend loves the hot stuff. The rest of my family is not too keen on it. Though I do like it..so tell me..how hot is it?
I wanna make it. Sounds delicious! -
YES, YES and YES!!!!
I can see you doing the happy dance and I'm doing it here, too!!!
So, so happy and relieved!!! WHEW indeed! -
Rosemarie..what beautiful pictures of your cute kids! And Justin looks so cute..even with the broken nose.
Debbie..DARN! I so wanted you to go on that balloon ride so we could hear about it!!!!
Sorry about the car....
Sherry.. I wish you well. Try not to worry about your upcoming medical events.. Just try to enjoy the days before it. That's what I'm trying to do!!!
Wow..so we have TWO more card makers here! Wow..you ladies have fancy making cards. Sounds really neat. Would love to see what you make. Debbie..sounds like you and your dh have a competition going for the most complicated design!!!! Very cool! -
Hey there Portless in Seattle!!!!
So happy to hear you got it out with little problems!!! Love the Portless in Seattle!!! -
Oh MY! I googled "teabagging", which is actually the form of art that scottishlass uses for her Christmas cards. Well...you will have to google this yourself cuz she's right..it is anything but Christmas card designing!
-
Hi Thought I better give you a site about Tea Bag folding so you do not get the wrong idea about me so early into my foray into these discussion boards
http://www.cardinspirations.co.uk/tech/teabag_folding.htm
Definitely not as embasassing as the other
However I am glad to see that I am not the only one not to know this term. Jill -
I am impressed that two of you have photos of Edinburgh Castle when I do not have any - that what happens when you live in a place. I will try and take some photos on Sunday at the fireworks - if they come out it is at its most spectacular. Gosh I sound somewhat like the tourist board now. Jill
-
Oh how could I forget??? Laura thank you so much got my Roctober Chemo Girl T-Shirt yesterday!!! Changed in the middle of the day, Was so proud to wear it, It is really hard to put into words to others about our group here, unless you are a part of it you cannot imagine the love and support.
-
Hey Jill,
Thanks for the REAL link. What a beautiful way to work with paper. I love it. You gave me a great idea. I have this thing of looking for new ideas and then I just keep piling my brain with tons of new things on top of the other ideas, combining them, thinking out how I can do it..man..I can spend hours on this!!! Love it!
I didn't mean to make your tea bag folding out to something else..just wondered what you meant!
I Love IT!
thanks for the great new idea!! -
Jill and Victoria:
It's so nice to be getting to know you by your posts. I loved the link to the tea-bag folding techinque. I make special photo albums using similar folding methods, with larger papers, of course. The papers come from those used in scrapbooking and when the album is done it is folded into a 6 x 6 square. It opens up to three 12 x 12 pages, divided into segments by the folds. You can use several dozen pictures if you do some cropping and creative placement. Because of the vast amount of materials supplied for the scrapbooking craze there is no end to marvelous papers and embellishments. My friend just filled one of these albums with family and friend photos for her daughter who is going off to her first year of college. It turned out to be a very special, very unique gift of love from Mom to Daughter. I was so happy to have helped her get started by making the album.
I also want to make the recipe of Calabacitas. Does it turn out to be like salsa? Or is it eaten as a side dish or salad? I'm not quite understanding the dish, I guess. But, I like all the ingredients so I think I will make it and see what we get.
How happy to have things to chat about that are not all about the big C!
love to you all,
Mary -
Hi Everyone!!!
I am a card maker too, but haven't done much of it since bc. Just really havent had the desire. I am hoping fall brings back my creative juices as I have a whole room full of craft items for my scrapbooking and cardmaking!!! I haven't even unpacked it all since I moved. I need to get going on that too (maybe if I didn't spend so much time at the computer--LOL!!!)
Graycie - the port removal was not bad at all, even this morning I am not that sore and I actually slept on that side last night without any pain. It is amazing to me how I can get a hangnail that hurts like crazy, but they can cut open my chest and dig around in it and it doesn't hurt very much! Go Figure!!! I am taking it easy though (not lifting pushing or pulling--no fair rides for me) as the Dr. cautioned me that they were messing with my vein and that those activities could cause the stitches not to hold.
Have any of you seen the October 1 issue of Family Circle? Yes - it is almost Breast Cancer Awarness month again! Remember last year when we all were pretty sick of hearing about all of the breast cancer awarenss because we were living it??? The magazine has some good articles (all stuff we pretty much already know and/or have been through). They give breastcancer.org some recognition and there is some info from Marisa in the articles. Good info for women who are unfamiliar with it all.
You can bet that I am going to do my part for BC awarness month this year - I want to do what I can to help other women from having to deal with all of this "stuff".
Victoria - no money involved with the CD - my treat! I just have to get busy making it! ;-) Make sure to PM me your address if you haven't already (there are a few there I haven't written in my address book yet).
I am off to the fair today! I want to eat "fair food" and pet all of the animals!!!
It will be fun to meet a new friend on Monday - He sounds fun and kinda crazy, so I hope we have enough in common that we can develop a friendship!
LOVE YOU ALL!!! Have a fun Saturday! -
HI,Tracy!! Have fun today. Last night I went to a baseball game and indulged in cheesecake on a stick dipped in chocolate. I don't even want to think of the calories, but it was a yummy treat! Have good eats today.
Victoria: I wanted to tell you that I was born in New Mexico. My father worked in a little general store in Shiprock in 1952-54. They lived in a little house behind the store. My birth was actually in Farmington. Mom had health problems so eventually they moved back to Utah, nearer to family and grandparents. I grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah. I've been back to New Mexico a few times on vacation, the last time in 1990. Someday I hope to get my Long Island native husband down to the Southwest to see the landscapes that still seem some of the most beautiful to me.
Jill: one of my favorite mystery authors, Anne Perry, lives in Scotland. Her books are set in London, however. I haven't read them all so perhaps she does include Scottish locales in some. We are having a tatoo here in my city later in the month. I've always wanted to attend and now that I read your posts, I just may do it.
bye for now,
Mary -
Jill & Victoria - Do you have a song for the CD? Also, please PM me your addresses! Thanks!
Have I missed anyone? Anymore songs? -
Since I have almost everyone's address, I would not mind creating a Rock-Tober Girls Address list. I can enclose it when I send the CDs so that our addresses are not traveling around in cyber space.
Also - I don't want to compromise anyone's wish for privacy, so if you don't want your info shared WITH THE ROCKTOBER GIRLS ONLY. Please drop me a PM. Again this info is ONLY for us Rocktober Girls--no one else.
I am a little slow getting the CDs going, so they are not coming real soon. I am working on it though!
Thanks all! -
Lots of card making people on this forum!!! How very cool because we each make different kind of cards.
Tracy..have fun eating and petting at the fair. sounds great!
ooooooo mary...cheese cake on a stick dipped in chocolate. YUM! when my daughter was in chicago the week before I arrived there, my girlfriend took her to the Taste of Chicago and we have a picture of my daughter eating cheesecake on a stick dipped in chocolate. I missed that!
