It stands for "no evidence of disease". Meaning that no cancer shows up on any of the scans or blood tests the doctors run on you. They can not see any cancer anywhere in you. If it is there it is too small to detect. At least this is what I understand about NED.

I am officially 3 years NED this July 2008!! Whoo-hoo no more tests until April 2008! Also, both my kids just graduated - son from 8th grade and daughter from high school. We are having a big party this weekend to celebrate!! GOD I am so happy!!!

Hi lovey, usually, at least in an HMO, just a mammogram.  Some docs/oncs do tumor markers, but they have a fairly high rate of false positives, so some docs/oncs don't like them.  An MRI, would be nice, but no hope of that for me.

    Hugs, Shirlann

Hi Shirlann...i love this new format...what do you think?  So much better than the last time they changed it...glad to see you are still active here.  I have been not checkign the boards as much lately...what a difference from a year ago!

Sending love to you...and to all on this TN board.

Hi Holly, so good to hear from you.  I love the new boards, I think they are great.  And I am so happy you are moving on, as you should.

I keep telling these guys, this is a doable, recoverable disease, and it makes me feel so good to hear from the wonderful women like you with success stories!

    Hugs, and kisses, Shirlann
