Oh, one question? Is there a reason I can't see the pics on that site?
There's all with those little red X's
-
Wishi....Oh...to have your problem
How about upping your beer intake every evening? Or, how about some of my wonderful raspberry custard cake (I'll post the receipe). Or even better, Tres Leches Cake....it's divine, it's wonderful. I guarantee a two pound weight gain every time you make it.
Of course you're welcome here. We haven't been tracking our vitals as we should but I like to start to again. I am exactly your same height and I weigh 132.5 and I wish I weighed 122...you can have my extra avoirdupois anytime!!!
Tina, Raye, so nice to see you. I'd like to see you with one of my pinned up hair style...too bad we can't get together and play. Yes, Tina, I'm the Fair Lady type. I love lace & ruffles...I wish ladies would come back in style...you know, the type that look elegant but not vulgar...pretty hats & such.
Just got back from the docs. Am on orders to take narcotic pain killers for at least another five days because NOT taking them could result in not breathing well and building up fluid in the lungs and pneumonia. So here I go......................wheeeeeeeee........................
Now I really will be a house potato...can't run outside because of stalkers, can't drive because of drugs!!!!
Miz
-
Oh my! Be careful on those painkillers Miz! Goodness no, don't go jogging outside. I would suppose that they would lower your inhibitions as 'drinking' would hey? Whooooeeee is right. Enjoy the pain free though! Haven't read why you have pain, but it's controlled and goes away soon! I had to write down when I took stuff after surgery, or I'd forget when I took it last. I'd imagine it's why so many 'elder' people overdoze on meds like sleeping pills, as my 93 y/o granny did one night! OH MY!
-
Wishi...I'm very careful with the meds and tend to underdo rather than overdo. The Ativans and Valium are more addictive.
Anywho, just took a Darvon and I don't feel much different than I did an hour ago...a little speedier maybe. No pain!!
Just updated the Weight Tracking spreadsheet. Click here...it's a little slow to load. My goal is to get town to 127 by the end of July, I'd like to be 123 by the end of August. I plan to do this by decreasing carbs....avoiding starches as much as possible, and limiting drinking to two nights per week. Also, exercise every day...and this is a problem now that I have to worry about that darn stalker!!!
Wishiwere...welcome! You're on the tracking page. Maybe we can trade pounds this month! Sounds like you are running a farm. What do you grow?
Miz
-
So? How do we put out amounts in there? Will we be able to track the exercise too, or just the weight?
Most definitely I'll trade the poundage!
Sounds like a great plan if you figure out how, let me know!
And what's this about a stalker? Is he for real you mean?
-
Wishiwere...the document is a Google shared document and if you PM me your email address I can add you to the list of editors...
AS for the stalker...I had an incident a couple weeks ago and it was pretty scary, and now I definitely have a house and a neighbor I need to avoid. Spooky & unpleasant. I've never felt threatened at all before in my neighborhood, I've even gone for walks in the middle of the night by myself when I couldn't sleep.
Tina...I'm gonna go find your artists thread...sounds like fun!
Linora
-
Linora? My address as in home addy? Email or what dear?
Oh my @ the stalker! Have you notified the police Linora? At the very least they can step up your neighborhood patrol or do a background to see if he has a history or such! Please do so if you haven't! Have You checked your states Sexual offender list online? Does your state have one?
-
If you check the link, I've already put in all your data..., but I can add give you access if you send me an email address.
Yes, our homeowner's assoc. has a liaison in the police dept and I talked to her. She documented the incident and offered to go over and talk to the guy, but I didn't want her to. He knows my name and which house I live in and I was concerned there might be some kind of retribution. In any case, the homeowner who rented out his house didn't do it legally (he was supposed to submit an application to the board), so we are going to start enforcing that rule.. So the advice we are getting from the police and our lawyer is getting some letters going..

Good to hear they are acting on it, as so often they don't! Michigan just passed a new law on tethers for those who get restraining orders for domestic abuse. Makes me proud they are moving it through so fast. We had a woman here who's ex waited in the newspaper parking lot for her (she worked there). He rammed her car and shot her dead. We have a pretty small town (8-10,000 year round and 26,000 when the university is in sessions), so it was a shocker, but not the first time. I'm not sure stalkers are included, but it's certainly a nice addition to protecton for those in need. The offender wears a tether and the victim is issued a call IF that offender comes within so far from them, so they can go to a safe place. We had one guy shoot and kill his ex and the woman cousin at the courthouse parking lot a few years back so this isn't a new thing, but something that has come up way too often!
I hope they get the guy out of there and you can again feel safe. Although if he were stalking me and was forced to move, I'd still be wary. just be careful as it sounds you are! I'll add a prayer for that to continue...that you be safe!
I'll pm my added in a few...

Tina, – can’t wait to see the buttons – post some pictures. I am so glad you are having fun doing it. It’s just great to find a hobby that we enjoy. Mine is sewing although I don’t have a lot of time for it these days.
Miz, sorry about your chair incident, I hope you are feeling better. The stalker thing is creepy. Be careful, there are a lot of nuts out there.
Casey, I am so sorry to hear about the stress in your relationship. Distance is tough. I used to date a merchant marine and it was hard during those long months when he was gone. I hope you can work it all out. Any time you need to vent, we are here for you.
Ray, you are beautiful. Enough said.
WishIwere – welcome – although we talk a lot it’s not so much about fitness, lol. I should start updating too but I am going to Europe in a couple of weeks and won’t really start trying till after that trip. But we should try to use the spreadsheet – it might motivate us all. Miz, I tried to update my stats from the link you posted and it wouldn’t let me. Any ideas? Mary – my trip to Mexico was great – we went to Playa del Carmen to the Riu Palace. Saw the signs for Tulum but we never went there. Just ate, drank and spent time on the beach and the swim up bar. Not bad. I am off to bed – talk to you ladies soon. P.S. Miz, tell Puppy she is still in my prayers.
-
Carol--great to see you!!!-- and thanx for the motivational idea!! The spreadsheet still works. There are two ways to look at it.
1. The link I published above...this is the published link and it's easy to look at because you can just click on the link without signing in. But you can't edit here.
2. I just sent everybody an invite... Go to google.com, logon to your account OR click on the link in the email I sent and you can log on to the document.
Carol, I didn't know you went to Mexico...tell us all about it..do you have pix?!!! Maybe Mary's still there!!!...does she need to be rescued?!!!
Wishy, I sent you an email too so you can sign into the document. No, we don't track exercise because it would be a lot of data..but if you want to set this up and feel creative, do so. I'd enjoy tracking my exercise.
As far as the stalker/sex offender goes...I was overstating the situation a bit. The guy is clearly weird and was clearly out of line, but he has not broken any laws. He's a perfect stranger, and I really do have to avoid having any more contact with him. I need to find some neighbors to exercise with me during the day...trouble is, most of 'em are walkers & I like to run. I appreciate your concern...it's been a real bummer having to deal with this.
Casey...please check in and let us know what you're upto.
Puppy...I know you don't come on line often but I wish you'd come and look at those hairdos..we need your expertise. Have you gained back any of the weight you lost? FYI Wishy..Puppy just went through a craniotomy...and she's recovering very nicely...we were all so worried about her we got a little "off track" with our fitness goals....the last I heard Puppy had lost 12 pounds since her surgery, and was drinking ensure to try and keep the weight up.
What a georgeous Spring this is turning out to be in Michigan....so nice to have yall to share it with!!!

Mornin Girls!
Wishi - I love that nickname that Miz gave you. And as Carol said, we indeed do a lot of talking, but not always about fitness! I've been keeping a food journal (something that Miz actually suggested in the past if I remember correctly), as I need to count calories to maintain a comfortable weight. It's very helpful, as it is so easy to lose track of those bugger calories. On the exercise front, I can only report that I ran 3.26 grueling miles on the treadmill last night, which was tough (so much pollen in the air which affects my breathing - oh, gave up occasional the smoking BTW) - and then proceeded to collapse on the matt to do my girl pushups.
Miz- sorry that I did not mention this before, but yes, please please be alert. That stalker is totally creepy and would scare me to death. And Miz, I've traded in my black today for a white summer dress (very ladylike I might add) and a delicate faux pearl beaded necklace and some funky brown sandles.
Tina - how did the hair cut go yesterday? I am excited to hear about it.
Puppy - you are in my thoughts and prayers, love. Hope you are comfortable and resting.

Hi Gals!
I've been back a while from Mexico, but then I left for a week in Orlando. (That one was for work, but the hubby and kids came along). I'll post pictures someday. The trip was just about perfect. The highlights were diving this amazing cavern (cenote) and taking a zipline tour of the jungle. At one point I was hanging upside down by my knees in the harness 30 feet above the jungle floor zipping along with a hottie/guide from Costa Rica right behind me assuring me that I wasn't about to die.
It's kind of overwhelming trying to get caught up- I have missed a lot of posts. But here goes:
Linora- have you taken a self-defense class? Don't let some creep keep you housebound. Take a class, carry mace, and kick his a$$ if he tries to lure you into his house again.
Casey- I hope things are better with your guy. Long distance relationships are very hard to sustain. I only saw my husband on weekends for about two years, and if he had not changed jobs when he did, it would have been the end of us, I'm sure. And that was about 12 years ago, and we are doing quite well these days. I hope you both can ride this out and get back that loving feeling.
Raye- Darn, I missed the pictures. My hair still sucks. It is very short and very thin. Sigh.
Wishi- welcome! We are all so funny about weight. I'm almost 5'8', and I like to weigh 125 which makes me about five pounds too heavy at the moment.
Carol- how are you feeling? My pre-hyst consult is July 30. I am dreading being a patient again.
Cathy- how is summer in Florida? I love your state. I'm going back this weekend for three days and two dives (Pensacola Beach) and then back to Key Largo to dive during Labor Day. Florida rocks!
As far as working out goes, I've been pretty on and off. I am doing a good job this week, but I didn't do a thing during the week in Orlando, although chasing after my kids in the Magic Kingdom for 12 hours shoulda burned some calories!
I'll try to post more often. Hope you all have a great 4th.
Mary

Well Mary Hallelulah!!!!....I thought we were going to have to send out a search party for you...wondering if you'd gotten eaten by some wild animal in the jungle or bitten by a giant scorpion!! Nice to know you're safe and sound back in the US and that you had so much fun.
Don't have much time to post right now because Erik will soon be home...for the weekend..and that means Paarty Time!!!
Thanx for all the concern about my safety ladies...I'm gonna have to figure something out soon because I do not plan to be a house potato much longer!!!
Everybody, have a wonderful weekend, don't over do, & report back on Monday with your *vital statistics*!!!!!

Hi everyone...haven't been on in awhile. I have been trying to catch up on everyone's posts. Hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend. I will check back with the dreaded "vitals" after the weekend...I plan to eat like a little piggy and then have my jaws wired shut. (well, not really).
-
Thanks for the welcome ladies. I started a program in quatro to keep check of my diet as I'm sure that's mostly to blame to for not gaining back the weight. I know it's hard for some to understand, but I actually don't like to take the time to eat, and many times forget till it's shake time. Not good for my health any more than having extra weight on, so it's the same health problem at the opposite end. Hopefully together we can keep each motivated to do the toning as well as eating smarter!
My goal anyway. Funny I was reading that walking and biking are similar in calorie use without the pains to the hips and knees. My hips are my problem and SOB with walking fast, so hopefully I can build my muscle loss up and gain that strength to get through exercise without the sob problem.
Would love to see the pics on the tracker site, if anyone can tell me why I can't, it would be appreciated, thanks!

Good morning gals...I hope everybody had a nice weekend!!!
Things were nice until I got some very bad news about a friend whose daughter died suddenly. Some of you may know Mena who was very active on the boards until last year. She is now Stage IV mets. Mena and I had been friends for quite some time, and I posted a message for her about this over in the Prayers & Inspiration section.
Sorry to have to start out the week on such a sombre note...but life goes on. We are all one family, what affects one affects us all is some way or another.
I changed my name back temporarily so as not to confuse people with the message.

Well...where is EVERYBODY?!! I'm waiting for yall to check in. I've got my scales tuned up and my pencil sharpened.
I'll have you know that I am down to 130.5, that's 2.5 pounds in two weeks. DH & I are both dieting together and he's down 3 pounds. We are cutting down drinking to two nights a week and eating two vegetables and a grilled meat or fish at dinner with no starch.
More later,
Linora

ok, I'm here and it's not pretty. Do I give you the stats here in front of the world Linora?
-
You can PM 'em to me & I'll post them or post them yourself on the spa sheet. Don't worry, it will get prettier & prettier!!! Promise!!!
-
Blue, it's okay really. I have never yet heard of someone losing weight on ANY program without the occasion plateau or gaining at some point. I think it's okay to fall off the wagon as long as we get are arse's back up and riding to the line!
Good luck!

Did everyone see the news yesterday that said the most effective method of weight control/loss was to journal every bite you eat every single day? People who did that lost on average of twice as much weight as people who didn't.
I was kind of participating on a thread to that effect on another of these boards, but it seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. In the meantime, I am seriously considering starting a lovely little log here at home, jotting down every morsel I eat. The log book has to be pretty, though, for motivation. I'm funny like that.
In this heat, who can eat, anyway?
-
Agreed, agreed!!! But the first step is to define the problem, state it out, and state your goals. It's painful but part of the process. And we are all here to help.
Blue, Puppy (who's recovering from major surgery now) quit smoking in January here and we all helped her and we are all here to help you as we help each other.
There is a convenient little log you can buy at Borders.., it's by Connie Metzger (sp?), a small orange spiral notebook, where you can keep a record of all your calories and your progress. I'm officially back on my regieme today!!
Hello everybody...went for my first run alone in a week yesterday. I took a different route through a different sub...wow, has my fitness level gone down with the chest injury! Coughed up a lot of junk and had to quit after about 7 minutes, but I'll get back. Then my neighbor told me that the guy we're worried about had stopped at her house yesterday evening, she thought he was mistaking her house for mine. She was in her garage, and he said hello but she ignored him.
The president of our home owner's assoc. has let us know he won't be sending any letters, so it's back to our lawyer and back to drawing boards!!!
Hope everyone had a terrific July 4!!!
Linora
-
While I'm not surprised the homeowners assoc isn't getting involved..... I thought it was a rule (not renting out) the homes in your assoc? I suppose your next step would be to go to one of the meetings and bring it up about that and see what is said by other homeowners? If this is allowed, then I suppose none of the other rules are enforceable either? So sorry you have this worry!
Take it easy getting back into your workout routine! Sounds like you are overdoing it too early if you are coughing stuff up lady! Be careful and start out small and work your up, just like if you'd never run before and are starting anew!
-
Hey Gals...
Wondering where everybody is,...I'm still here, not doing anything too exciting this summer since Erik and I decided that the best way to spend the summer was to enjoy it right here at home...no trips to plan, no baggage to pack, no expenses....I do love it here.
Well I am very seriously bummed. The news last week about my friends daughter death is about the saddest thing I've ever known and I just can't seem to get beyond the feelings of frustration and despair at seeing such a wonderful little child lose her life....so much potential wasted, so much sweetness gone. Even though I never met her, somehow it just stabs at me and won't let go. I wanted to avoid talking about it, but I can't seem to think about anything else.
Here she is...
I always wanted a little girl and I never got one..
All the troubles and woes that we women have here seem so trivial by comparison to seeing such a sweet little girl lose her life before it was lived....I am sooo sad, so sad.
Miz
-
Miz: What a pretty little girl...so sorry for your loss....may I ask what happened?
-
This little girl belonged to one of my BCO friends who has mets. It's quite a long story. Part of it has been posted already under Inspiration & Prayers (Please Pray for Dawn & Mena)..I'll PM you.
Miz

Miz, what a beautiful girl! I am so sorry.
