Once the nursefromhell's shift was over and a different nurse came on duty (one who obviously went into nursing to help people), things got a whole lot better. They'll be coming home in an hour or so, just in time for the heat wave. Yesterday it was 64 up here; they're calling for temps in the low 90s today. What a leap! They only have two window units and parents' and baby's rooms are up on the third floor, just under the eaves, so I think SIL will be going out to get some more AC units this afternoon. Him and the rest of Boston, I guess.
Anyway, I hope you are all having a good weekend. Lots of love from my little grandmotherly self,
Anna

Anna, it was 96 here today. The heat isn't as bad as the humidity....man it is very close. The grand children were here today and we all just stayed downstairs in the family room.
Michael and Cory watched the races on the wide screen and Sebastian just explored.
Hayden just slept, great age for that. We were thinking of a cookout, but had subs from subway instead. Just to hot for the deck , I couldn't stand it.
Things seem to back to normal......with the children.
How is everyone doing in the weather dept?

We finally got our summer weather yesterday. It has been very cool. We boat, swim and BBQ all summer. The kids are going to one week of "outdoor adventure" day camp. We are also going to the cabin at Tahoe for a week or two. Starting the end of July it is football, football, football as my hubby coaches my son's football team and it is one month of everyday practice. We also have a few art classes for the kids to take with a great art teacher. Our town just got a paint-it-yourself pottery place that is air conditioned! I can really break the bank in there. We go up to the amusement/waterpark in San Jose. I save all the art kits we get for the kid's birthdays for summer. It is nice to come in and work on them in the late afternoon when it is very hot.
That is about it. Today is my last at home alone day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last monster
doesn't go back to school until mid-Sept. But I am really looking forward to the lazy summer days. I just won't get much of "my stuff" done.
I hope everyone has a great week!! Love the grandbaby stories!
-
So, home visiting nurse came today (they've been home since Saturday afternoon) and said the baby is now 6 lbs 18 oz, which is really really good for a nursed baby, so my daughter is beginning to feel like she was really made for this motherhood business. Baby still thinks the daytime is nighttime and vice-versa, but that's so normal for the first few weeks. I am getting such a kick out of how the nurses/midwives/etc. give new moms info. Boy, do I wish they had been that wonderful when I was a new mom! My daughter and I went out for a little walk (very short-93 today) and have decided to make that our routine: early morning walks around the block with that cutie boy in his buggy. What a buggy! I'm having a blast!
Love to all, Anna

Hi Sisters,
So, still no "official" news on my tests, so I am just assuming that "no news is good news." She (onc.) is probably out of the country-she always is!!!!Anna-baby sounds so precious. You sound so delighted! What a blessed mix! I think you must be a fantastic Gramma.
Odalys-no, I am not going to Pinkstock. It sounds lovely, but I just don't know many of those ladies very well. I'd LOVE for us to all meet sometime soon, though!!!!!
ML-sounds like you are in the healing mode! It also sounds like drama is getting better. I'm so glad. It feels like once we deal with cancer, then we deserve NOT to have any of that mess, right?!
Margerie-I have a credit card in my pocket, but I can't remember your blog....I'm going to scroll back to find it.....if I can't find it, I need the address again!!! I promise, I will get a shirt from you!!!!!!!!
We had a busy weekend. We went to my best friend's new house(from freshman year of high school!!). We were supposed to help out, but I feel like she was uncomfortable putting us to work. Just as well....they are the type of people that aren't totally miserable in NO AIR CONDITIONING, so I was sweating like a pig. Any extra movement would have made it worse!!
Then, my adoptive "parents" had a surprise anniversary party planned by their daughter. It was so beautiful. They played a movie they had made to commemorate 25 years of Mom and Dad's marriage, and I cried. I never knew it, but they sang at their wedding a SONG that HE wrote for their wedding day!! BEAUTIFUL!!Then, there were shots of moments from every year of their marriage, and each shot was filled with massive amounts of family. This is why I love this family so much. They are so close-knit. Holidays aren't lukewarm and drab. There are people everywhere!
Anyway, gotta go! Miss you! Let's get together!!!!!!!!!!
Love and prayers, Deb -
Odalys- The healing went fast, and I was up and about in 2 days. Haven't stopped since.
As fro the drama, it is over. I did stand my ground....and Cory came home first. All is back to normal.
Anna, do you have pictures?????? See if your daughter can load them for you. Putting them on a photobucket.com account is best. {It is free} Did she have a natural birth?
Jessie had to have another C section...but was out and about 3 days later, just like last time. Driving and everything. She also came home alone both times. Cory took vacation. I thought her mom was there the whole time. I was at work...
Jessie did talk them into tying her tubes. They usually make you come back, but Cory only gets one week vacation. And they didn't want to take FML if they didn't have to.

I love all this talk about grandkids. I can't help but say that I hope to see mine someday.
ML-I am so happy for you and your family.
How do you like your surgery results?
I can just picture you and that baby buggy on your walks Anna.
Hoping Deb and Odalys get good news on the things giving trouble.
LOL-
here is my blog
and here is my cancer survivor store
Too funny Deb! But please don't feel obligated to buy anything. I am honored just knowing you all take a look now and then!
I am kind of excited- my "no hair day" has been selling and I made the design from a picture of my old hanky hat- pink bandana.
And if any of you are cat fanatics- I made a cute desperate housecats design in the pets section at the bottom
Anyway, both the designing and the blogging have been lots of fun. If anyone is interested in starting either- shoot me a pm.

Here is Miss Hayden
And Mr Sebastian, after lunch on Sunday.
We are a little dirty, but that is the life of a "True" boy LOL
-
Marg- I 'm starting to like the outcome of my surgery. Just takes time for the swelling to go down.
-
What an absolutely beautiful little boy Sebastian is! Looks like his sister is following suit. What did she weigh at birth?
-
She was 7lbs 4 oz and 21 inches long.
Sebastian was 8 lbs 2 0z 20 inches long.
Hayden will be one month tomorrow, she is up to 8 lbs 2 0z and is 22 inches long.
Yes, Sebastian is a cutie, and Hayden looks like her brother so far. I see the terrible "Two's " in him just a little. Deb, remember those days. He has hit 18 months...OH DEAR
-
FYI- I went to the Doctor this morning, I'm down 15 pounds. I'm sooooooo happy!!!
Please lets try to set a date for the trip....I need motivation
, my emotional eating gets to me at times...so if I have an event to look forward to, I will more likely to stick to it .
This is so cute, I have to share
-
Ha ha! Cute one, ML!
I need help losing this stress weight. I gained weight ONLY in my belly in these past 6 months. Crazy.I'm so sleepy, and stressed over Daniel's birthday party! Ack!
Love and prayers, Deb
-
LOL!! ML that is a classic.
Thinking of you Anna. Hope you get good news soon.
Dates? Well, I will probably have to wait until the kids are back in school- so mid Sept. Are we planning here or middle or Florida?
-
Sept. sounds great. Marg- I would love to come see you. We just want to sit and chat, or what ever. Nothing fancy for me....just a girls weekend would be so nice.
Only it doesn't seem fair to you, you would have to be the host. If we can get you to not fuss over all of us being there, then that would be good.
-
OK I am so going to fuss if you come all the way out here. But I love to be hostess- so no worries. Anyway, it is easy living out at the cabin ( a house really) We could just sit out back in the woods and talk or by the fireplace.
-
I'm in! Count me in for the visit!
Just don't be disappointed when I don't do outdoorsy stuff. I'm not "a little bit country," but I am "a little bit rock and roll." -
LOL, Deb....I'm both. Grew up a tom boy and was rough and tough ....I still love the boy things. I'm so blessed to have had boys as a mom.
My "32" year old is on his way here. My granddaughter is going to spend some of her summer break with me. We are going swimming and camping today.
So that means shower for me and off the computer....
((((HUGS))) To all my dear sisters.
-
Hi everyone! We are just in from a long week end . Michael is at work and Ashley is in bed. I'm beat, but very happy. I feel like a gram again....Spent the afternoon with Jessie , the 3 grand children and Jessies dad. Cory and Michael had to go to work early .
Ashley is just to cool . She is all grown up , going onto high school this year. Hard for me to get used to her being older....Makes me face the years behind me....OH DEAR! LOL
I'm really glad that we were busy, gave me less time to think about not having daddy . It is always such a hard day for me. Seems this year was a little easier than the last few.
Sorry I have no pictures, can't find the camera. I know I packed it to go camping, got there and it was MIA.... Oh well, I will find it I'm sure.
Good night my sisters. Hope all is well with you.
-
I checked my calendar. One of my kids doesn't start school until Sept. 9th.
How about the weekend Fri Sept 12-Sun Sept 14th?
Check the airfares to Reno, NV and I can pick you up. It is about 45 minutes from the house.
There is plenty to do http://www.truckee.com/
and we don't have to do anything more rigorous than windowshopping
Who is in??
(And Anna I am glad to hear you got good news on your scan- now be a good girl and tell everyone here about it...)
-
Yes, well I didn't tell you guys that I saw my PCP before leaving VA for Boston because I was getting tired of a persistent cough. He looked at the lung xray I happened to have brought him (we applied for residence status in France and that was part of the deal) and said there was something iffy and that I should have a CTscan, which I did, believe it or not, the morning after little grandson's birth (how convenient, he was born at 2 a.m. and I stayed in the hospital room and let SIL go home and take a shower/sleep so we could change places in the morning; I think I must have known somthing when I made that appointment at the same hospital where I knew my daughter was going to give birth).
So I had the CTscan and waited over the LOOOOONG weekend and my dr. told me it showed a mass on the right kidney and that I needed a pelvic CT. I scheduled that for two days later and went in and they couldn't do it bec. I am allergic to contrast and wasn't premedicated. Went back the next day and got the CT and waited another LOOOOONG weekend for the results. (That's when I posted on the recurrence site; boy, was I nervous.) I got the results and that mass is a cyst and I have to have it checked again in 6 months but that's okay with me cause I am sooooooo relieved.
Meanwhile, that persistent cough is gone and I am just so happy I get to enjoy my daughter and grandson for another 10 days and then get to go back to France to be with my hubs and little dog.
Having a grandchild so very far away will be a challenge. He changes every day! Now he looks a little rounder and makes funny delighted sounds whenever he's awake. I'm going to have to come up here an awful lot, I think.
I don't know how to post pictures on this site, so I will email his picture to each of you if you don't mind.
Lots of love,
Anna

Anna - Glad your tests were ok and it's not mets. OMG, you were going through so much stress and didn't tell us??? Well, listen Missy, I appreciate you not wanting to worry but please no need to go through it alone. We are here to help each other out. We've been through so much already. I'd like to think we will continue to help each other out no matter what the future holds. Ok, I feel better now that I got that off my chest. Sending lots of love and a big cyber hug your way!
Margerie - Thanks for offering to host our weekend. I'll have to look at our schedules and will let you know. My work situation has not been resolved yet. So I can't make any plans that far out yet. I will let you know as soon as possible. Thanks again!
Deb and Mary Lou sending hugs your way.
-
Anna- please don't hold back, it helps to come here and vent. I understand how you feel about the little ones changing so fast. I was just over to see Hayden a few days ago and she looks different than last Sunday.
And Sebastian is running around and around in the yard....to cute , and dragging every toy he can get his hands on.
And then there is Ashley , she is here tonight with her step sisters.....teens. LOL , I have had fun....but am so tired....
Marg- The dates sound good for me. I just have to make a plan and do it. I don't let stuff get in my way anymore. I don't work on the week-end and I can always be sick on a Friday....
-
Oh my~
~ they have changed the boards again.....I just wanted to share a new picture of my granddaughter that I took this past week-end.
-
Wow! Your granddaughter takes after you in the beauty department, that's for sure.
My visit up to Boston is winding down and I don't know how I'll be able to leave these three.
Love to my sisters, Anna
-
Thanks Anna.....
Where are all the sisters???????????
-
HERE I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, ladies!
ML-your grandaughter has such pretty eyes! She is a beautiful girl!
Anna-I probably missed it ages ago, but are you officially no longer living in the US now? I want to see pictures of your place in France. Can you post some?
Margerie-Yay! Let's definitely put something on the calendar! There is nothing I like better than visiting a friend who likes to go overboard!
. Thank you so much for offering your place!
