I stopped by the gym to weigh myself on my way home today -- 160.2, eegads. My short-term goal is to get down to 152 before my surgery on June 26th. Then I'd like to get down to around 140 by the time of my DIEP six months later. I'm starting on an easy walking program and will add some abs and arms, and maybe a couple of short bike rides over the weekend.
I second what Darlene said - best wishes for a healthy long weekend to all!

Hey there lovely losers!
Go ladies go!
I have no idea how to make smilie faces. You know, we Mac users just have different toys sometimes.
So I tried not to lose, but I don't care. I just need to feel good - and I do. Feeling strong & healthy as
surgery approaches Wed early am. I'm planning to eat very lightly starting tomorrow. Lots of juicing and zinc drops in lemon water for tissue rebuilding after surgery.
A friend who lives near the hospital will be bringing me my romaine/celery juice to hospital. How lucky can I get! I started plitaes with my oldest daughter & have been biking the trails with my youngest.
Rain next two days will find me tying up lose ends.
Thank you all for all your support and urging forward
and for listening to my trepidations with such kindness & knowledge.
You ladies are the greatest and helped me get to this "ready point".
I'll be happy to share my DIEP experiences DATO & Lorena B.
May we all become losers we want to be!
in light and essence,
Cally -
Hi to all. I want to be a loser too! A friend just asked me to come with her to WW mtgs -- I'm a lifetime member from 20 yrs ago but only went off and on. I've got 20 extra lbs packed on me from these past chemo months and have to start losing and working out. Our mtgs are Mon nights -- when do you all weigh in?
-
Welcome to the losers club Mary !
We have different weigh in days but we do the smiley stats on Fridays. So in essence report your weight- loss on Friday.
Cally girl, hope everything went well today and you are enjoying your new foobs !! ( wait a sec DIEP is not foob.. it is as real as a recon could get.. argghhh.. I am
with envy.. NOT lol.. )
-
Welcome! I think it had been Wednesday but got changed to Thursday. Yipes! That's tomorrow and I can't do it because our scale battery died (REALLY!) -gotta replace it ASAP and I don't think we have an extra in the house.
-
trigeek--I lost 2.6 lbs this week for a total now of 6 lbs! (and that was with 3 parties over the weekend, so I'm pretty proud of myself. Now, if I can just keep it up...)

I weigh in on Tuesdays. I lost 0.8 lbs last week for a total of 4 lbs now. I was actually suprised that I lost since I was not good about staying on track over the long weekend and the gym was closed on Sunday and Monday. Weekends are hard for me. It's so easy to just graze on things I shouldn't. During the week I'm at work and busy so it's much easier to stay on track. I went to the gym yesterday and I'm going again tonight. Have a good and healthy weekend everyone.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I weighed in tonite - HOPING to drop more weight ..................... I STAYED THE SAME ..
guess in a way that is good bc of the Holdiay weekend - and graduation party we attended....... but u know we went biking 14 miles on Saturday -- went to Curves sat - tues - wed and TODAY -- and even mowed my mother in laws lawn yesterday -- that took 30 mins at a steady pace with a frontwheel drive mower ..........
the only thing I can think of that I'm not doing lately like I did when I started WW is --- drinking WATER ------ could that be the key for me ?????????? other then working out too much -- and putting on more muscle -- and muscle does weigh more then fat - and I do feel my clothes looser on me .................. I SOOOOOOOOOO WANT ANOTHER SMILEY FACE lol --- ok back to the grind --- hugs to all
-
UGH, I'm with you, Unlimited, I am SO frustrated. I just weighed myself and I only lost half a pound (and that was after I went to the bathroom to empty myself of any extra ounces of water weight!). I ate so much better all week, and have been walking every day. Granted, I can't really do any serious cardio exercise yet -- I'm 3 weeks out from chemo and just don't have the energy -- but I thought that the improvement in my eating habits and activity levels would have made more of a difference. Plus I've finally got over my chronic constipation...sorry if this is TMI, but maybe only 2 days of good pooping isn't enough to clean me out?
Oh well, I seem to remember that one of the other times I did WW, I barely lost anything the first week and then dropped like 3-4 lbs in week two. I'm going to lower my daily points goal this week to what it used to be when I weighed less and stick to the walking program. I do FEEL better than I did a week ago -- I just have to remember that whatever the scale may say doesn't change that fact.
I have an appointment with an acupuncturist on Monday, for the very first time. I'm not specifically going for weight loss, but perhaps it will help my digestive system to function better and that will help me in this department, too.
Anyone else?

Up 1.8 pounds this week- no surprise given how I have been eating. WW does work if you actually do it! LOL I have started posting my points expenditure in the food log thread (as of yesterday) as a way to quit fooling myself- yes I really do want to lose another 10 pounds and it is not going to happen by magic.
-
I want to be a loser with you darlings!! I want to earn smilies!! I want to be held accountable.
Quick backstory. DX 3/19/07. Surgery. Rads. Made HUGE committment to better eating/exercise. Rode bike over 800 miles following rads (last summer @ our summer place in WI) which was AMAZING for me -- couch potato type.
Lost 15 pounds!! (Lots of smilies!!)
Kept it off thru returning to real life. Kept it off over holidays.
Then moved in with DD who was pregs w/twins and bedridden, chasing her toddler as her DH is away with Air Force.
CRUD. End of diligence. End of maintenance. Surrounded here w/every forbidden possibility you can think of.
So I've lived here now for over 3 months and have gained back about half of my 15 lost over such a long haul.
Well...... this is all more than you needed to know.........
My DH and I are headed to Aruba in 2 weeks time, for a week. Too late for any dramatic impact there -- but I want to use these 2 weeks to grab my attention.
BTW: the twins are now almost 6 weeks old. They're healthy & beautiful and may one day sleep. Between their middle of the night scream fests & my hotflashes I haven't slept thru the night in these past 6 weeks.
I'm a complete emotional eater.... rewarding myself with nonsense of chocolate etc for 'hanging in' another day.
Enough already. My SIL will return here in about 7 weeks -- so my life hovers on the horizon.... and I want to return to it fitting into my 'thinner' pants.
congrats to all who've bonded already. Unlimited & AWB nice to see you here (we're old "chatline" buddies.)
faith
****and I just can't seem to get a grip on water consumption?????
-
Faith- sorry for your troubles but I totally enjoyed your post. Made me feel like I was there with you. Yikes! Congratulations on the 2 new grandchildren (screaming and all).
It would be so great for you to go on your trip feeling like you've started back on the path to being reunited with your "thinner pants."
This thread has been great for me. Also, if you REALLY want to go for it and hold yourself accountable, come on over to the "food log-let's get specific thread, where you can do your food and exercise diary for the day (and get some additional support).
A trip is a great motivator to get started. I have lost a fair amount over the year but having been slacking in the last few months. We are going to Las Vegas for a few days next week and that is definitely motivating me to be more focused this week. It's not Aruba but it should be fun. I plan to swim a lot in the giant pool at the resort where my husband's conference is.

Hi you losers!
I'm so happy to be writing this - home from hospital yesterday 9 hr surgery Wed. Wed. was my easy day. I'm doing very well relative to the extent of surgery. And they weighed me before I left hospital.
I was just where I was when I came in! I tried to hold steady weight at 147 - and I did! We'll see what happens now. I think I owe some of weight control to juicing my greens, Amazingly, a friend who lives near University Hospitals in Cleveland, and was recently diagnosed with BC, and who got turned on to juicing from me, brought my juices to the hospital each day I was there!
So, it may be a while until I jump back on to lose - but my job is to at least hold steady if not lose from here! Until you hear loss from me, I will be witness to you! Weigh away losers.
I cannot say enough about the angels, the xepertise, the facility and docs at University hospitals.'Truly amazingly awesome. I'm lucky I was there.
Thank you for being here still!
I can't wait to get past this, lose, buff up (again?) during & after rads.
Go ladies go!
Losers are way cool,
Cally -
Cally,
Congrats on your surgery. I am scheduled to have diep recon in August. I still have three more rounds of chemo to finish before the surgery. Did you start ww during chemo or after. I have gained 10lbs durning the first three rounds. Very frustrating but the steriod have been too much for the appitite. I am sure I could be making better choices for what I eat but the will power and the energy have been zip during this time. Should I start now or wait till chemo is over.
-
Cally- it is so great to hear that your surgery went well. Wishing you speedy healing and all uphill from here!
Tigwin. Welcome. I did chemo last year June- October. I was doing WW when I was diagnosed. After diagnosis I stuck with it and lost a few pounds during chemo. I did walk every day and I think that helped with the energy. Although it might seem counterintuitive staying active during chemo for a lot of women helps with the fatigue. I now weigh 10-12 pounds less than I did at the start of chemo. You may find you do well with a modified approach to WW- maybe not trying to lose fast but to maintain and maybe lose a few pounds over the months of treatment. I found the focus on healthy eating really beneficial.
-
Thanks Allyson, I appreciate your input. I think I will start on Wednesday. I can mentally prepare tomorrow and then get to a meeting. I think you may be right about the energy level. I need some so maybe it will help. Thanks I will be back to admit my weight UGGG
-
Hello all, I am officially in. Went and got weighed in at a ww meeting and started today !!!! First step to a better life. Thanks for the support.
-
Hey Losers. I've "started" my REdedication to better living thru better eating & exercise!!
I've had more water to drink in the last 2 days -- than in the previous 2 weeks..... so you're all a good influence already!!
I weighed in on a genuine scale this morning and saw the damage of these months as super-grannie.... living in the land of the free carbohydrates and candy bars. YIKES!! Must have been crazy to un-do all that I had worked so hard for last summer. When does the psychiatrist couch open?
Drumroll please........................ 146.8 (Crud.)
My goal is get back to the weight I had stabalized on previously & decided to put on my driver's license: 139
One step at a time, right?
Let's get MOVING!!
-
This wasn't a good week. I gained 0.7 lbs. I thought I was following the program, but I wasn't writing eveything down. I think that's was messed me up.
I'm leaving Saturday for a 1 week vacation. I'm going to try to be good.

Ok, I weighed in tonite --- and I am DOWN 1 pound --- Give me another SMILEY LOL ............ just wishing this would go down faster - like 2 pounds a week at least... esp since Im not doing 2 cans a day of MT DEW since Easter - and not doing the fast food drive thru of Taco Bell ............ OK this week WATER WATER WATER and WALK WALK WALK ---
-
I was up 0.2 this week--basically an increase of less than a quarter pound, but it's discouraging--- I thought I had lost about 2 or 3 pounds, I am really following the program very closely and exercising too. Hopefully, I will lose next week, otherwise I can see myself getting really discouraged.

Today, June 6- 126.2, back on the loser track! This is the way my whole weight loss experience over the last year plus has been- very slow with steps forward and back, but always forward again. Looking back at my old diet and weight logs, my starting weight (and top weight back in late 2006 was 149.2. It's great to keep these logs and be able to look back and see how far you've come! I have my own logs plus official WW weigh in books going back to 2001 and they really put things in perspective. I am determined this time to reach my goal weight of 116. I believe that I can do it because I've stayed this couse for almost a year and a half now.
It is so great to have more women joining us losers here! Don't let a setback of .2 or 20 make you give up (been there, done that, done with that!). I finally have gotten that it really is a lifelong process and that I can learn from my mistakes and move on. This week I was able to lose because I (finally) started planning my eating for the day and calculating the points ahead of time. I kept myself honest and made myself get out that food scale and points calculator slide even when I didn't feel like it. I didn't listen to that little voice in my head that says "It won't count if you don't know" because that is exactly the opposite of the truth and I know it. Okay that's enough of me on my 2 pound loss from last week positive rant/soapbox.
What have you other losers learned that you want to share?
-
Ugh, another weigh-in today, another 0.2 lbs down. I feel good after eating well all week, why is my body taking so long to shed the extra weight??? Does chemo slow the metabolism down? I'm going to increase the walking next week and see if that helps. I'm really frustrated. I think part of the problem is my sluggish digestive system -- how can I lose weight if the waste just sits in there???
-
Hi all...ok, I am leaving for my WW meetin in a few min. What has worked for you all....points or core? Do you go to thhe meetings or just follow the program on your own?
Thanks,
Tubby
