I don't want to smell like any of those!! Not even food would appeal to me ..... well, maybe cinnamon buns or a vanilla scent.

Okay y'all - I've been otherwise occupied for toooo long. Can't possibly catch up. However, I must say - Raye, love the ponytail! How did you attach it? How did you then hide said attachment? I am so tired of this 'between' stage of my hair - no longer looking like just-outta-chemo, but not yet anything I can do something decent with. Constantly looks like hat-head or bed-head, cow-licks galore. Unless it is just freshly washed, then it is loose-ish curls.
Marin, I like the sound of your eye-droop fix - glad it worked! What color is it under the lashline? Do you still use a darker contour color? Do you use the white Rimmel only towards the center inner line? Does yours last all day like Roctober's? Mine doesn't.

Well, I am bummed. Yesterday I went into Target and discovered that I bought the wrong L'Oreal tanning product; I bought the Sublime Glow, which is a gradual tanner/moisturizer and I now see that there is a Sublime Bronze tanner line also. Including the one with tint that you recommended, Raye. Rats. No wonder my legs are not getting very tanned. Guess I'll have to buy the other stuff, too.
I guess that also explains why my Glow doesn't stink too much. Not much tanner in it. Well, at least I'm all sparkly!

Next week I get to explore the cosmetics counter at Nordie's. That should be some fun. And, there is also a Sephora at the Providence Place mall. Let me loose!!!

Lisa...I have a few of those Cool Effects crayons, so depending upon my outfit and the other makeup I'm wearing, I use one of them. They're all light colors though and I've completely given up contouring with any dark stuff because, inevitably, it gets smushed around and I look like I'm back in chemo. My eyes, I'm finding, look best in light pastels with a bit of shimmer. And I only use the Rimmel white on the outer half of the bottom lids. I apply it inside the rims and then add the crayon right under the lashes.
Do you guys ever use false eyelashes? How about the individual ones or the small strips? Are some brands better than others? I really don't want to go there, but my lashes just haven't come back to "normal" and I'm starting to lose hope. Ugh.
Also, what do you use to keep your brows in line? I don't have much to speak of (just the inners really...the outers are mainly tattoo), but they "droop" and I'd like to keep them in place.

I use the mac 20's lashes for big occasions. It's half of a row of lashes, and you put them from the outer corner to the halfway point on your eye. I love them, and with a little practice it gets easier and easier to apply them.
I would not recommend using lashes if your lashes are delicate or they are still growing in. You'll rip them out when you pull the fake lashes off.
-
Tina - yes, with the Sublime you will see results right away, as it is tinted.
Lisa - that ponytail! Thanks. Got it at Sally Beauty for like $25, it has a type of almost, dare I say, banana clip on the back which secures it to your hair very nicely. I clipped the remaining hair back and then used a wide stretchy headband to cover some of the clips. Beth talks about the different stages of hair growth (i.e., getting the hair in a little pony tail, and then a higher one, etc. - little breakthroughs in hair growth). When I can get my hair into the higher one, I want to buy a long straight ponytail - kind of like Madonna wore in the Blonde Ambition Tour - think it would be cool. I agree, the hair stage now is frustrating, but it's growing.
Marin - I used false eyelashes twice - liked the look, but very difficult for me to apply - I wore them to work so I felt a little drag queenish. I bought cheapies, though - not the nice MAC ones like Beth. I think mine were Revlon?
-
I also use fake lashes ... from Sephora - sephora brand - they are $7 I think..reusable and come with glue in a little circle disc - I actually cut them in half and do the same as Beth - apply them from halfway in the lid to the end...looks great!

Laura and I were cheaters this weekend ..... we were in Vegas, poolside! We put lots of sunscreen on the kids but we needed our tans ... no burns!!
-
Ooooh, I am so jealous that I was not in Las Vegas poolside. I bet you had a great time. Glad you used sunscreen!
Can you ladies help me with cracked heels? (Gross topic, I know, sorry). The chemo I am on is drying out my skin all over but I have one heel that has a couple of cracks in it. Hurts like heck when I put pressure on it. Any special creams/lotions you can recommend to heal it up quickly?
Thanks in advance,
Lauralynne

Ok so by that time, we had been poolside and see my makeup is smeared. Also, from other pics, you can see how I kept my hat on, sunsreen on my face ... so I had a white face with color on the rest of the body! I have to learn to self tan. Laura had me put self tanner on the last night so my face matched my body!
-
Oh and can you see our matching necklaces? Laura got all the Rocktober girls matching elephant necklaces. It''s our mascot since elephants hold each other up during sickness/problems. Elephants will surround the sick elephant and make sure it doesn't fall ... falling is death to the elephant. Anyway, that's been our mascot and Mother Brenda got us into that and Sister Laura is the generous benefactor to all the sisters.
-
The other sister pictured there is CurlyLocks ... from Canada, another Rocktober girl
-
Rocktober- I can't believe the coincidence. I haven't visited this thread so much lately (let alone posted) but happened to stop by tonight just in time to see your great pics. My husband and I are going to Vegas mid-June, just booked the flight yesterday! I've never been. Now I have a mission for my shopping trip with another bc.org member tomorrow. Need shirts suitable for 100 degree temps.
-
Also love your elephant metaphor.
-
Roctober-
Love your pictures. It looks like you had a great time in Las Vegas. Like the necklaces too.
Lauralynne-Mary Kay makes a very rich pink cream in a jar. I cannot remember the name, something like super emoillent cream. It works great on extra-extra dry skin and I used it on my heels several years ago. Find a Mary Kay rep and ask about it. I think that may help you.

Lauralynne, Bag Balm is sold in farmers' co-op and also on the net and I believe in Cracker Barrel. It comes is a squar green metal can.
In the winter when my dh's heels crack, he uses it for 3 days and it's cured.
I like to put it on after a bath, wrap my feet in saran wrap and put on tennis socks and go to bed. Your feet will feel amazing in the morning.
My dh won't use the saran warp, but we keep his socks in a baggie, and won't wash them too often, the balm is absorbed into the cotton and this helps more to your skin.
Give it a shot, the stuff works absolute wonders! (no, I have no stock in the company!)---maybe that's a good idea!
-
Yup, Bag Balm is a good thing but use cotton socks.
If the above products do not work, try using some 1% cortisone cream on the heels for a few days/nights in a row. (No more than a few.) That helps badly cracked fingers for me in the wintertime.
You Vegas chicks! What a life. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall.

-
I was just catching up on this conversation. I use a product on my DH's cracked feet similar to Dottie. It is "Udder Balm" that I get at the local farm supply store (Tractor Supply). It is heavy lanolin with aloe vera and various vitamins. It comes in a 1 lb jar and costs about $9. It was formulated for chapped milk cow udders but does wonders on cracked feet and various other chapped skin areas. I actually put plastic grocery bags on my DH's feet after applying the cream and then cover it up with a fleece throw (he has LARGE feet and I cannot get his socks over the bags). He is diabetic and we have to watch his feet carefully.

You girls look so darned cute and I love the necklaces and what they represent. Gorgeous photo and nice color girls!
Lauralynne - I cannot add anything to these knowledgeable ladies' recommenations but Vasoline with Saran Wrap.
Tonight I am going to see STP in concert - can't wait. Am thinking of going and getting the long straight dark brown ponytail to wear to the concert!! My current hair is not very rockin.
Raye
-
Thank you ladies. Your suggestions are good ones. I will see what "balm" I can find locally and give it a try to beautify my sore heels and feet. Thank you so much.
Raye, your ponytail looks awesome. I would wear that to the concert. Have fun!
Lauralynne
-
Thanks Lauralynne - that ponytail is really huge! It might get caught on fire. Here is the straight on I bought today. Ok girls, no more pics for awhile - you're probably all sick of looking at my mug!!

-
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the straight ponytail! Looks fabulous!
-
OMG, Raye, you are so freaking stunning! Every damn one of your pics look like Glamour Shots! Do you take these of yourself or is your photographer Annie Leibovitz? What kind of camera do you use?
How was the concert?
~Marin
-
Raye is a potential pin-up girl. Remember those glamour shots of stars in the shorts and halter top, with one leg dangling over the edge of the diving board or such thing, back in the 40's? That's what she reminds me of. Just, of course, a modern day version.
I make-up shopped yesterday and bought some Bobbi Brown eye shadow in Cement and lipstick in Rose Petal. Very nice. Of course, I really needed more stuff but I get so excited when confronted with a make-up display that I forget everything. You'd think I would sit down and make a list.......
-
Almost forgot! The Surgery Free Makeover www.surgeryfreemakeover.com just came in a couple of days ago and it's really, really, good. Marin, you may be very interested in something called Thermage (third generation) which is explained in it. Amazon has the book for about $18. Maybe your local library would buy it. It's well worth the reading.
-
You guys are too good to me. Thank you girls!
Marin, I use the very exclusive LG camera phone - I am sure Annie uses it as well *WINK*. (icon button is not working well today at all.) The concert was good - stayed up too late, but worth it.
Tina - A good makeup display can do that do us. Glad you found a nice darker shade you like. I've been wearing light lately, but today I have on Savory Rose by Lancome - very nice, reddish mauve brown color. I'm gonna check out the surgery free makeover site in a bit here - but for now, back to work.
