I would be surprised if there were an Obama/Edwards ticket...I am sure Edwards was promised a high position but don't think it is the VP slot. I think Obama will choose a woman VP. After the last state of the union address, the Gov. of Kansas (forgot her name) spoke on behalf of the Dems and it was intimated she would be his VP choice.

Edwards didn't win his own State in the 2004 election, so I was hoping he'd be Obama's choice for Veep too.  One can only wish.

Being a Hillary supporter certainly has it's ups and downs.  We're all made of hardy stuff because we could have caved long ago, but here we are waiting for the next round.  What are they going to do in June when they don't have Hillary to kick anymore?  More importantly, what are we going to do in June when they stop kicking Hillary?

Why they're all coming out now in support of Obama, it's to make it impossible for the superdelegates to vote for Hillary.  All these gleeful, happy people endorsing away, saying he's a man of sound judgment, (HUH?) it's not a show for us, it's the superdelegate show of shows.  Get your tickets now, show starts in August.

I'm so disappointed, no angry, I cannot take part in a civilized conversation. So I spend the evening watching Season One of the Vicar of Dibley,l drinking sherry and eating chocolate and shortbread. I come up for air soon and hope the world has come to its' senses.

I get it.  They ALL are JUST Politicians!

I'll have to tell my daughter who is an attorney that she should have voted for Obama instead of Hillary in the primary.  You did say only college folks voted for Obama, right?  And only country hicks voted for Hillary?  That's what Obama was alluding to when he talked about us country folk who prayed and carried around our guns cuz we've lost hope in the government (my interpretation).  I don't care who gets in the White House...I don't expect ANY OF THEM to do one darn thing for me!

I wished I liked to drink.  I did have a Some-kind-of-drink that my dd made on Mother's Day.  It was quite good.  I believe it was some kind of Martinee.  I'll have to ask her.  I'm sure it wasn't a Margarita.  What has salt around the glass?  I think what she made should have had something around the glass, but not salt for this kind of drink.  It had lime in it.  It looked "milky."  Don't forget, I didn't go to college therefore, I know little about sophisticated drinks.

    Ladies,

I must admit that I've been confused by many of the comments made here.  Today I read this comment in the Washington Post.  I realized that living outside of the US, I've been isolated from the onslaught of slim making money hand over fist from the dark side of this campaign.

I'm grateful to have missed it...and heart sick for all here who have been subjected to it.

Reading this article in the Washington Post, I now understand what you've all been saying about the way Mrs. Clinton was treated by the press.   It's disgusting.

    Yes, we need a change...

    Misogyny I Won't Miss

    By Marie Cocco

As the Democratic nomination contest slouches toward a close, it's time to take stock of what I will not miss.

I will not miss seeing advertisements for T-shirts that bear the slogan "Bros before Hos." The shirts depict Barack Obama (the Bro) and Hillary Clinton (the Ho) and are widely sold on the Internet.

I will not miss walking past airport concessions selling the Hillary Nutcracker, a device in which a pantsuit-clad Clinton doll opens her legs to reveal stainless-steel thighs that, well, bust nuts. I won't miss television and newspaper stories that make light of the novelty item.

I won't miss episodes like the one in which liberal radio personality Randi Rhodes called Clinton a "big [expletive] whore" and said the same about former vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro. Rhodes was appearing at an event sponsored by a San Francisco radio station, before an audience of appreciative Obama supporters -- one of whom had promoted the evening on the presumptive Democratic nominee's official campaign Web site.

I won't miss Citizens United Not Timid (no acronym, please), an anti-Clinton group founded by Republican guru Roger Stone.

Political discourse will at last be free of jokes like this one, told last week by magician Penn Jillette on MSNBC: "Obama did great in February, and that's because that was Black History Month. And now Hillary's doing much better 'cause it's White Bitch Month, right?" Co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski rebuked Jillette.

I won't miss political commentators (including National Public Radio political editor Ken Rudin and Andrew Sullivan, the columnist and blogger) who compare Clinton to the Glenn Close character in the movie "Fatal Attraction." In the iconic 1987 film, Close played an independent New York woman who has an affair with a married man played by Michael Douglas. When the liaison ends, the jilted woman becomes a deranged, knife-wielding stalker who terrorizes the man's blissful suburban family. Message: Psychopathic home-wrecker, begone.

The airwaves will at last be free of comments that liken Clinton to a "she-devil" (Chris Matthews on MSNBC, who helpfully supplied an on-screen mock-up of Clinton sprouting horns). Or those who offer that she's "looking like everyone's first wife standing outside a probate court" (Mike Barnicle, also on MSNBC).

But perhaps it is not wives who are so very problematic. Maybe it's mothers. Because, after all, Clinton is more like "a scolding mother, talking down to a child" (Jack Cafferty on CNN).

When all other images fail, there is one other I will not miss. That is, the down-to-the-basics, simplest one: "White women are a problem, that's -- you know, we all live with that" (William Kristol of Fox News).

I won't miss reading another treatise by a man or woman, of the left or right, who says that sexism has had not even a teeny-weeny bit of influence on the course of the Democratic campaign. To hint that sexism might possibly have had a minimal role is to play that risible "gender card."

Most of all, I will not miss the silence.

I will not miss the deafening, depressing silence of Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean or other leading Democrats, who to my knowledge (with the exception of Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland) haven't publicly uttered a word of outrage at the unrelenting, sex-based hate that has been hurled at a former first lady and two-term senator from New York. Among those holding their tongues are hundreds of Democrats for whom Clinton has campaigned and raised millions of dollars. Don Imus endured more public ire from the political class when he insulted the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

Would the silence prevail if Obama's likeness were put on a tap-dancing doll that was sold at airports? Would the media figures who dole out precious face time to these politicians be such pals if they'd compared Obama with a character in a blaxploitation film? And how would crude references to Obama's sex organs play?

There are many reasons Clinton is losing the nomination contest, some having to do with her strategic mistakes, others with the groundswell for "change." But for all Clinton's political blemishes, the darker stain that has been exposed is the hatred of women that is accepted as a part of our culture.

I just don't know what to say. I hate that women are still treated as second class citizens, and how strong, smart, independent women accused of being ballbusters. Yell

Cherryl, it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world. I KNOW there is intelligent life out there - but where? Are they hiding out in the hills, waiting for all the craziness to end?

I just can't take this anymore. The past 8 years under dubya have been awful and I cannot imaging what the next 4/8 years will be under another republican. If obama wins I can only hope that he has good advisors because I truly don't believe he knows how to run/lead this country.

    Marilyn,

I'm happy to read that at least some of the press is seeing the light of day about what is really going on here.  It's really a race about gender...in the media.    The strange thing about it, it's not a gender race for the voters.  She attracting both men and women.

Paulette, I'm beginning to believe in the conspiracy theory also because it really makes no sense for them to be piling on a candidate that has such far left ideals and supporters.   Whenever Kennedy comes out to endorse a candidate, then slaps Hillary with an uncalled for remark about Obama being the NOBLER candidate, that was it for me.  This is getting so far left that's it's beyond scary.

Anytime we see a far-left candidate it usually means a trouncing in the general election.  I don't know what they're thinking is, and I'm glad I don't know.

This is interesting, I wondered about Elizabeth Edwards...and the endorsement, EVEN IF TARDY? Come on, I guess now the dems will punish Edwards because he was tardy...good grief, what are these people thinking?

Obama welcomes Edwards endorsement, even if tardy

By CHARLES BABINGTON, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 32 minutes ago

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - It would have meant more in February or March, but John Edwards' endorsement of Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination was welcomed nonetheless by a politician eager to turn the page.

Edwards' surprise appearance at a rally Wednesday steered some of the attention away from Hillary Rodham Clinton's landslide win over Obama in Tuesday's West Virginia primary. Despite the victory, the former first lady faces long odds in trying to deny Obama the presidential nomination.

Edwards had been their chief rival from 2007 through last January. But after finishing second to Obama in Iowa, the former North Carolina senator and 2004 vice presidential nominee placed third in the next three contests, then left the race.

Obama and Clinton immediately sought his support, but Edwards stayed mum until Wednesday. The endorsement would have carried more clout had Edwards made it months ago, when the outcome of the Democratic contest was very much in doubt.

"We are here tonight because the Democratic voters have made their choice, and so have I," Edwards said to thunderous applause. He said Obama "stands with me" in a fight to cut poverty in half within 10 years, a claim Obama confirmed moments later.

Edwards told the rally that "we must come together as Democrats" to defeat Republican John McCain in November.

    He also praised Clinton.

"We are a stronger party" because of her involvement and "we're going to have a stronger nominee in the fall because of her work," he said.

Then as Edwards sat on stage and watched, Obama gave one of his most animated addresses in days, much of it devoted to fighting poverty. In America, he said, "you should never be homeless, you should never be hungry."

Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe said in a statement: "We respect John Edwards, but as the voters of West Virginia showed last night, this thing is far from over."

Political strategist and Clinton ally James Carville said Edwards' endorse was a psychological boost for Obama, but unlikely to sway many voters.

"I think it certainly helps in terms of the psychology of the superdelegates," Carville told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Thursday, referring to the elected officials and party leaders who will ultimately determine the Democratic nominee.

A person close to Edwards, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he wanted to get involved now to begin unifying the party. Edwards and Obama spoke by phone Tuesday night, and Edwards agreed to fly to Grand Rapids the next day.

Edwards didn't even tell many of his former top advisers of his decision because he wanted to inform Clinton personally, said the person close to him. His wife, Elizabeth, who has said she thinks Clinton has the superior health care plan, did not accompany him and is not part of the endorsement.

Ok, I'll probably get my head bitten off here, but here goes.....

As a woman, I too would love to see the first "woman president"...that said, I also want what's best for this election.  In my humble opinion, I believe that Obama is the STRONGER candidate to beat McCain.  I think that having another Clinton in the WH will send the "business as usual" message. BTW I voted for Bill Clinton twice, but to me successful in November,  I think we need a "fresh face" with new ideas.

I don't think that Obama will offer Edwards the VP slot, probably a cabinet position....maybe Attorney General.

As far as Elizabeth Edwards endorsing anyone, it is not customary for the spouse of a former candidate to "Publicly" endorse anyone.

Good morning political junkies.........Blue don't worry no one is going to bite your head off........we will let you get comfortable then we will bite your head off.......Innocent.....actually we really do need someone from the Obama camp......you guys seem to be laying low...........ok Hillaryites...........as a fence straddling conservative and an observer.........I don't know about how you guys feel but the way I see Hillary literally being robbed of even being able to finish the primary season is not the contest between Hillary and Obama its between Hillary and George Soros.........unbelievable............I cannot believe that the democrats are letting one man decide on whom your party is going to nominate.  Like I said yesterday I don't know what went down with Soros and Bill Clinton.......maybe it was Clinton losing control of the congress in 1994.......maybe it was Clinton not being able to control his personal life and making the democrat party the butt end of late night talk show jokes.........maybe it was Clinton moving more toward the middle so that he could get some legislation passed like welfare reform which was Republican policy..........what ever it was Soros is pissed and he is going to make sure that Hillary is not in the White House either as President or Vice President or ever will be...........like I posted a couple of weeks before......the Democrat Party has been hijacked by the far, far left and George Soros is at the helm.........jmo.....Shokk

His name is Ted Kennedy.  Daschle and Edwards are both out of the Senate and if they want in again they need to vie for spots on the cabinet.

Paulette when Obama is elected George Soros is going to be in charge........we better start doing our research so we will know what's coming........and let me say this (Anneshirley I am wound up today) did anyone see what Sean Penn had to say about Obama yesterday.........(Penn disclaimer......I despise Sean Penn)he said Obama's voting record is inhumane.......where did I see this this morning......was it on CNN or MSNBC......no it was on FoxNews.......to even get accurate and positive information on Hillary Clinton I have to watch FoxNews......as a conservative I have always watch FoxNews but I find it a bit unnerving that I can't get a "fair" report about Hillary from CNN and the worse journalism I have every witness from MSNBC..........Shokk

Madalyn as a matter of fact they did........and listen I do believe that in November that the majority of Democrats even the Hillary supporters will vote for Obama.......let's face it the war is going to get in the way for most Democrats.....there may be a some Conservative Democrats that won't have a problem with McCain.....it's just like for me being a Conservative the whole pro choice pro life gets in the way for me ever being able to support a pro choice nominee...........I just found it amazing that Penn thinks Obama's voting record which I am sure it's his position on the late term abortions legislation is too inhumane even for a far left liberal like himself (Penn).....Shokk

Madalyn let's not forget that the mud slinging is going to work both ways........this morning the age thing is already being played and McCain not wanting to release his medical records and as a cancer survivor I wouldn't want my medical records released either........and let's not forget that Clinton never did release his medical records which we don't know why but it could have been due to his lifestyle.........PMSNBC was going on about what are the changes that McCain's cancer could return.....they are saying 40%..........if you ask me that is pretty damn low to be making predictions on whether someone is going to have recurrence........Shokk

    Madalyn,

I'd like to take credit for that, if I may.

"You Republicans seem to be working hard over here trying to turn the disappointment some of us feel over Hillary into anger and a McCain 'protest' vote ... yes, it is pretty obvious Kiss"

Yes, I do believe that voting for McCain will send a message to the DNC to do their job.  And I'm not a Republican.  I'm a card carrying democrat.  If it's a landslide for McCain, I know they'd love to blame that on Hillary, but it will be hard to do.  I hope they would shift the real blame where it belongs.

Shokk, I agree  Predicting  someone's risk of reccurrence is  a low blow.

Anyone can be diagnosed with anything at any time.

To be fair, however, I also recall this came up when John Edwards was still in the running...All of the so-called conservative talking heads jumped on the fact that Elizabeth Edwards was diagnosed with a reccurrence and "how could John Edwards POSSIBLY be a good president with his wife terminally ill"?.  It was wrong then and it's wrong now. I think John McCain is a good man with many good ideas, however I believe that he is hell-bent on seeing this war go on.  CNN just reported that McCain stated today that he sees the war going on until 2013.  This country will be bankrupt by then if that's the case.  I don't even want to think about how many more lives will be lost (on BOTH sides)

Personality and charisma, awesome combo, too bad that is about all he has going for him. Mud slinging works both ways, you Dems are just as good at it as the Repubs and frankly I hope like H*** they find some serious mud to sling because personally I think Obama will be a disaster...OK let me restate that, whomever is behind him running the country will be a disaster because it is clear (present) that Obama is not going to be running Jack!

No matter who is elected, THE WAR IS NOT GOING TO COME TO AN ABRUBT END...that is a given, it's a moot point. And anyone that thinks it is, is a fool!

Being a Repub, I still have a lot of empathy for Hillary, it's a "good ole' boy" circle in both parties, possibly all we will ever get is a "token" woman in some positions, maybe even a veep, but I believe in most of our lifetimes that is all we will see.

    Hi Shokk and all,

Grace here........checking in..........been busy with family stuff and water problems.........not going to be fixed too soon...........I really don't care who the Dem nominee is, and I will vote for whoever that is..........I don't want another 4 years of the Republican policies and Bush regime..........the surge is not working.........news reports from Iraq say that more Americans have been killed in the last month than a year ago..........McCain is strong on war..........McCain isn't concerned about Healthcare........those are two strong issues for me..........I'm voting Democrat........oh, and by the way, I hope Hillary stays in the race and pushes it to the convention..........because I'd like to have an exciting convention for once.........the Republican one will be a bore to watch LOL

I don't think Edwards will be VP..........I think he will be vying for a cabinet position.......wonder if Hillary manages to convince the Dem superdelegates to her side and wins the next primaries what will she do to unify the party.....offer Edwards and Obama cabinet positions?? Mmmmm.......the jury's out on that one.......we will have to wait and see.

I know plenty of people without college education voting for Obama........I don't believe even half of the exit polls or the media........let the media pundits talk all they can.......I'll make my own decisions based on my own research.......not what some talking head tries to convince me is true........it's time to stop letting the media tell us what is right or wrong.......we are adults...........we can ignore them..........like turn off the idiot box.........I'm getting to that point!!

Off to wrestle with the editing of my book.........so won't be around much.........also have to go to pool to shower and do laundry at my mother's......that's the price we pay for living up in the woods.......far from the luxuries of the city!! Don't worry.......I'm still happy when I can look at the Redwoods every day and know that they will be here even after I'm gone because of the wonderful environmentalists! Go Green, Get Rich......anyone see that book? My daughter gave it to me for Mother's Day along with an organic hemp grocery bag........think I can smoke it if times get bad??

Hang in there, the ride isn't over yet!

Now Shokk.........are you sorry asked me to check in?

In my book it counts as prayer, the dogma of organized religion is a tad too...well for lack of a better word, too dogmatic for my taste! One of my favorite books is the metaphysical dictionary that explains the bible metaphysically! See, I am not totally conservative!
