My sweet, beautiful cat is gone...

Marin, I didn't even want to read this thread.
I'm so very sorry. My heart goes out to you. Finding our babies very sick is horrible. I had a dog many years ago who's back legs gave out. Like you, I felt her feet and they were cold. She had been having some problems, but I didn't expect that to happen to her. Of course we had to euthanize her. I ran out of the vet's office bawling my eyes out. I couldn't even stay to say good-bye. My dh and dd did. So, here I'm crying for you. We've lost several pets. I say I'm not getting anymore. I now have four cats! Just spent $900 on one to have two small kidney stones removed. They are our babies.
I love the idea about the paw print. That's so sweet.
Take care. You'll have days that you'll cry.

Marin,
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved pet. How thoughtful of your vet to make paw prints for you to keep. A week before I started my chemo last year, our cat, Tiger, had to be put down. He was one of 5 kittens born on my daughter's 5th Birthday. He had a tumor on his lower lip and had lost weight rapidly. I brought him into the vet, sobbing like a child. I told the vet that I hope that no one thinks I'm not worth saving if my Cancer got that bad. She gave me a hug and assured me that he was in a much better place.
This past weekend, a young, scrawny, orange striped male cat showed up in my yard. I have fought the urge to feed him, "knowing" I don't want another cat. Needless to say, "Franklin" has been well fed ever since!

I'm so sorry for your loss marin. Such a terrible decision you had to make. I feel certain you made the right choice. Losing our furbabies is the worst of all things.

Marin, so sorry to read about your kitty. Sending you Hugs...

Marin, I am crying here. I am so very sorry about your loss. This really touched my heart. Of course, I am an animal lover. But, the fact, that she was a very special cat. She was with you through a difficult time in your life. Just know she is very happy now in Heaven and she is looking over you. Take Care Marin.
God Bless You,

Marin, I am so sorry for your loss. I am a cat lover and have had quite a few in my lifetime. In 2006, while going through chemo, I had to put my "Pumpkin" to sleep. I begged her to hang on and help me through chemo but she couldn't. I had to let her go. Then one month later, my other cat "Patches" was hit by a car and killed. The next month we got a kitten...she is so special and precious. Now she is nearly 2 yrs old. "Sweetie-Lizzie" is her name and she is just that...so sweet. My heart goes out to you. Losing a pet is horrible...she will meet you on the Rainbow bridge as someone above has said. Hugs!!!

Thank you so much, my wonderful friends. It's been an awful day, especially coming home and seeing the empty window where Laci's sweet little face always was watching for my coming home to her. And sitting here this evening without her on my lap...well, you know. I still have my Sasha, who is roaming around looking for some friendly play with her sister. I know she'll adjust, but I may consider getting her a kitten to boss around and to keep her company all day and evening when I'm working.
It's just so hard knowing she's gone, but I'm so very comforted by the words of each & every one of you. I just KNEW that you'd understand.

Marin, i am so sorry to hear this about your Laci. The pain from the loss of a beloved pet is so unbearable. I think you did the right thing to not let her continue to suffer. This is absolutely the hardest subject for me. She will be with you in your heart.

Oh, Marin, it's hard enough to lose a beloved pet under any circumstances, but to lose one so suddenly ... it leaves a hole in your heart that can't be patched for a long time. It puts us in emotional shock, I think. And, to have to make a decision on euthanasia so quickly ....
But you know you did the right thing by Laci, right? It's one of the blessings (and I don't use that word very often) that our animal friends have, when we can help them by easing their pain and suffering. People often ask their vets, "Doc, what would you do?"; and vets really aren't supposed to tell animal owners to euthanize their pets. But, often, everybody knows it is the only humane thing that can be done.
As others here have said, I am so glad you were at home when this happened. To be able to respond to Laci's cries for help and rush her to the vet meant she did not suffer alone. You got to cradle her in your arms one last time and say goodbye. That must have been very hard for you, but I'm sure it helped Laci. The memory of this difficult, sad day will eventually soften, and you'll be left with a memory of all the fun times you had with her.

I can hardly bear to think about how heartbroken you must be feeling. Pets are such loving, loyal creatures. And to lose a chemo-pet even more painful. I'm sorry.
-
Awwww Marin, I am so sorry to hear this. I always hate to hear about sick and suffering animals. We just love our furbabies so much, they are such a big part of the family. I cannot imagine my life without cats.
My condolences. I truly know how you feel because I lost a couple of beloved cats over the years.
-
Marin,
I am so sorry about Laci and wish you lots of comfort in happy memories.
My mom had a huge white male kitty she named Sugar, and he passed away from the same sudden illness about four years ago.
Pets are our best friends. They never judge us and always love us no matter what.
Thinking of you and sending lots of hugs your way.

So sad to read this news Marin.
These bundles of fur and hair in our life are surely a gift to (wo)man.
Time and time again, they are our often our best friend.
They have especially honed the skill of listening, even when no one else will or is around to.

Oh gosh, Marin - I just read this. I am so sorry for your loss.
Laci was there for you when you needed her all through chemo - and you were there for her, when she needed you this morning.
I know this is going to be a tender spot for a long time.

Oh, I do so know how you are feeling right now. I lost my ChinChin due to a car and we couldn't keep him alive. He was with me every step of the way thru dx and treatment, slept in my lap after each and every surgery. He would curl up into my cricled arms at night, sigh deeply and go to sleep.
I miss him more than I can begin to tell you and I don't know when I will ever feel better. I have not yet been able to bury his ashes.

Marin:

Oh, Marin~
I'm soo sorry to hear of your loss. We, also had to put our sweet cat Oreo, down due to cancer just 3 days after loosing my MIL to colon cancer. This little cat sat with me daily as we cared for our dear mom through hospice care at home. It was a double blow, and I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking of it.
My heart goes out to you. Laci has left a permanent pawprint on your heart and it will take awhile to heal. Warm and healing thoughts coming your way.
Affectionately,
Michelle

Marin, I've got tears in my eyes. I am so very sorry about your sweet kitty, Laci. She will have lots of friends at Rainbow Bridge and will be running and playing and healthy!! Our Bailey (choc lab) is there (had a tumor on his spinal cord - had to have him put down 4 years ago). May your memories of Laci bring you peace and comfort, Marin.

Marin I'm sorry that Laci passed, I know what you mean about a chemo cat, Blackie is mine. I feel so bad for you it's exactly like losing family and so hard. My Blackie is really old and wheezy and I know I should take him in but I keep waiting I just can't do it yet, he's still eating and plays a bit, so I fiquire until he stops those activities he's staying with me. I am so sad for you Marin, I'm sorry. Big Hugs.
-
Marin, I am so sorry about Laci. I have a friend that just lost one of her pets. She said after the small herd she has currently she was never going to get another since they are so hard to lose. I totally agree that losses are very painful but I for one would miss the absolute joy they bring in their lifetime. Remembering Laci for the joy!
-
Marin, I just saw this. I am SO SORRY. That is such a sad story. I know you love your furbabies and it is so hard when we see them sick and they can't tell us what is wrong.
Taking them to the vet for that last visit is just about the hardest thing to do in this life.
My heart goes out to you.
love to you,

(((((((((Marin)))))))))) So sorry to hear of your loss. Pets are so important to us.
-
Marin,
I am so sorry for the loss of your lovely cat. It is a very difficult thing to do. The pawprint is a lovely idea. I have one of my chocolate lab that was part of the family. We get soooo close to these little critters that it is heartbreaking when these things happen.
Take Care,
Kerry

Hi Sweetie, Just checking on you today. Yes, this is so hard to go through. But, you remember she is in Cat Heaven, and loving it. She is also looking over you. And, I think that would be wonderful for you to get a kitten for Sasha. Things will get back to normal again. And, Sasha will be chasing her little one all around. Take Care. Bye.
God Bless You,
Kaloni

Oh Marin I'm so sorry about your beautiful Laci! We are a cat family too - our Skippy is 13 years old and going strong (although he has a weak stomach) and my daughter's cat Bucky is going on 2 years old......so you have my deepest sympathies.
Just know you did the right thing for your sweet cat - she's no longer suffering, but in "Cat Heaven" (have you ever seen that book, it's so sweet.) Here's the poem:Cat Heaven
by Cynthia Rylant
The way to Cat Heaven is a field of sweet grass,
Where crickets and butterflies play.
A cat may be late getting to Heaven...
There is so much fun on the way!
But an angel will wait at the yellow front door,
And wait till a kitty comes home.
And when she arrives, he'll give her a kiss
And some milk in a bowl of her own.
There are trees in Cat Heaven, trees made just for cats,
Trees growing so green and so high.
But, no one gets stuck in a tree anymore-
If a kitty wants down, she will fly!
And, oh all the toys, kitty toys everywhere,
Thousands and thousands go by.
There are buttons and baubles and small catnip leaves
All afloat in the sky.
There are angels, of course, with soft angel laps,
Where kitties can purr loud and strong.
The angels will rub kitties' noses and ears,
And sing them a Cat Heaven song.
And when cats are hungry, there is God's kitchen counter
All covered with white kitty dishes,
Full of tuna and salmon and mounds of sardines
And wonderful little pink fishes.
The cats in Cat Heaven are so loved and spoiled,
God lets them all lie on his bed.
He walks in his garden with his wonderful Book
And a kitty asleep on his head.
Then when a cat needs to, she may simply ponder and watch
The blue world deep and wide.
She will watch the old house where she once lived and wandered,
And the people who loved her inside.
All cats love Heaven, they know the way there,
They know where the angel cats fly.
They will turn past the stars and the moon and the sun
To curl up with God in the sky.
