I have Arthur, my almost 10 year old dog, and two baby aquatic turtles.  I have to post pictures of them later.

Arthur still thinks he is a puppy...

... and the baby turtles (Freak and Freck, Ping and Pong, Flip and Flop, we have not decided on the names yet and there are some more like these to be decided from)... well the bigger one yesterday ate 6 pieces of her food!!!!!!!!!!  I thought she was going to blow up!  Off course, I don't know if I have two boys or two girls or a couple... how "da" heck do I find that out, lift up their little tails?! (LOL)

So, who do you have as a pet?  What is her/his name... any tricks up their paws?...

We have 2 dogs. Blue is 14 yrs old and still raring to go although he is quite deaf....so hand signals are in order when he is looking at you. Molly our golden is 5. She is the dumb blond in the family, a real clutz, she put her knee out when she was still a pup and now has a permanent pin in there, always has been clutzy on stairs! Both of our dogs love to go to the cottage. On the way we usually pick up a coffee at Tims and they know that they will get their Tim Bits as a treat for the drive. Molly spends all day at the cottage looking for the little red squirrel that chatters at her non stop, teasing her. At the end of the day she just crashes. Blue still loves his walks and tries to convince you it's cookie time every time he goes out to dribble. He is also a bed hog and won't move for anyone. We can't let him run free anymore because of his hearing loss but to look at him you would never guess he's that old. Love my dogs!

We have a small managerie at our house.    We have 2 birds, a cockatiel named Taco and a parakeet named Chese.  We have 3 cats, Mandy, Brandy and Kisa, 2 rats named Ebony and Ava, and a hampster named Judo.  They all live in relative harmony.  The cats know not to touch the other  "family" memebers (lol).  And the birds have the run of the house and share a cage at night.   i don't know what I would do without all of our furry little family members.   They bring a sort of peace to our lives here.

We have one dog Deja (My Avatar) She turned 8 the day I was diagnosed.  We also have a Lovebird- Lucy.  Its my 2 daughters bird.

She is often flying all over the house & The Retriever doesnt care.

My Youngest daughter has some fish & a New Guinea Pig-She has many names- I havent had time to get to know her well.  Its hard getting used to a new kind of animal that you have never had before.  (she went to the store to get a Hamster to replace the one she had had) She told me she got an Extra large Hamster when she showed the Pig  to me!  Ha Ha, very cute.

I have two dogs (they are outside dogs) who guard my house and bark at anything that moves ... they warn me when a car turns off of the road into the driveway (it's about 100 yards long with curves) so you can't see anyone coming until they are at the house ... they are wonderful dogs ...  the squirrels tease them ....   Cody and Sissy are their names. I've had Cody longer than Sissy  - they are both wonderful mutts.

I've also got a cat named Gizmo (male) who is an indoors cat -  his front claws were removed before I got him  - and there's no way he could protect himself if he were outside ...   he does get to go outside  (under supervision)  - he begs to go outside sometimes...

    I love my pets...

There's no way I can beat Amy's list...and I don't think I want to :-)  We have 4 dogs, 2 german shepards who are also sisters, they're 3 years old and think 5 acres is not enough for them to roam on, they always end up on the neighbors 100 acres!  Another mixed dog, she is very sweet and is now 13 years old, she still enjoys the warm days when we get them and I hope she'll be around for along time.  One little 5lb Chihuahua/Pekingese who bosses all of them around.  2 cats who think they own us (maybe they do) and one horse, that my daughter does gaming with.  He is a sweetie!  But we are thinking of getting some chickens and pigs...so maybe I can beat out Amy's list

    :-)

PS  Lucy..I cringed when I read the "rats",  that is my biggest phobia!!

They are ALL so cute!!!!  Including the little girl!  :-)  The turtles are very cool!  I use to feed my water turtles and my snappers little tadpoles and fish that I would catch in the pond.  Not an easy chore growing up in Queens!  They loved that stuff.  And otherwise some hamburger meat would work too.  Thanks for sharing the pix!!!!!

Hi...right now I have a young kitty..will be 2 yrs old in June. Her name is "Sweetie-Lizzie". And so sweet she is!! Has never brought her claws out yet. I also have a Conure Parrot named "Kiwi" as she is black and green. She can be very fresh. She doesn't like anyone but me :). She is about 12 years old. I have had up to 3 cats at a time in the past. While I was on chemo in 2006 I had 2--Patches and Pumpkin. I had to put Pumpkin to sleep as she was 18 years old and just couldn't take life anymore than a month later Patches was hit by a car and died. How devasting for me at that time..well it would have been at any time. I pleaded with Pumpkin to see me through the chemo first since I had had her for so long, but she just couldn't. I had to let her go. I probably will get another cat eventually but for now I will let Sweetie just deal with the bird. They are very cute together. I let Kiwi out of her cage alot and they chase one another around the house. Sweetie wants to swat Kiwi so bad with her paw...but I constantly remind her that she is family too...and family  takes care of one another...lol. Great thread NBN. Amy, you are the winner. Good to see you.

    Hugs and prayers,

    Candie

Amy: how are my 2 "children"?  And love those pictures... they pose all so nice!

Girls: how did you come up w/ the names for your pets?

Lilia-your two girls are just wonderful.  They are very sweet and when you go in the kidding pen, they put their feet up on you and want to be picked up and loved on.

As far as the names,,we pick a category for the goats and stick with it for all of that moms kids so we know who belongs to who.  Fuschia's kids are named after constellations, Ara and Atria.  Our dog names,,who knows.  Just whatever comes to mind.  Bubba was named because I was there for the birthing process and the mom had 2 little tiny pups and then out pops bubba who was twice the size so he became bubba immediately.  Monty was named after our neice that loves monkeys but cant say monkey and she says Monty so we started calling him runty since he was the runt and runty turned into Monty.  Bean,,the boston,,well boston baked beans of course.  Olivia is named after the Law and Order lady, Jake, well you just got to have a lab named Jake.  Bandie is named after the Nintendo game Crash Bandicoot because she is like a bull in a china shop.  Shad, no idea it just happened.  Chance was already named from the golden retreiver rescue sight so we kept it.  jessie-not sure it just happened.

We do have one baby boy goat that we have to name.  His mom is Mossrose and we are going with birds we think on her kids.

Oh my gosh I loved those pictures!!!  I don't know what I would do without my boys.  I have 2 male shih tzu's who are like kids to me.  Last year at this time I was also frequenting a message board; one for pet loss.  I lost my beloved black and white shih tzu Nicky 3 days after Christmas 2006, he died the day before his 13th birthday. He had been on heart medicine for 20 months and the last few months were so hard.  Less than 4 weeks later we lost Nicky's brother who had been my parents dog.  He had lived with us for over a year.  I don't know how I got through it.

Now I have my parents other 8 year old shih tzu Benji and we got a red and white shih tzu a year ago.  Casey is such a lover.  On my worse day, when I could hardly get out of bed.  Where ever I was laying, bed, recliner or couch, he would jump on me, give me tons of kisses, lay there for a while, then run off and see what he missed.  I do have 2 married children and 3 grandkids, but these boys are very, very special to me as well and help to get me through just about anything.  I also have a cat, Kaddie, and when she not sitting in from of the computer monitor, her favorite spot, she's pretty special too.

Pets make everyday more special and I really appreciate and love my boys.  Mary

Ahh, pets , a subject so close to my heart. I just cannot get enough of them.

I breed dogs, so I seem to have so many around me. Before bc I had a very busy dog kennels business, open all year round, and almost always full. I had 5 teens working with me, as it was a seven day week job.

At the moment I have, adult dogs.

    10 mini smooth sausage dogs.

    5 wire haired sausage dogs.

    5 Yorkies.

    26 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

    2 King Charles Spaniels.

    8 Pekingese.

    7 Pugs.

    2 Rottweillers.

17 cats, who all live on our farm.

    1 donkey.

5 Jersey cows, ( my pets) We sold our milking herd, and I just couldn't let these 5 go, so they live the life of Riley now, and are very tame.

    2 goats.

assorted canaries, love birds and cockatiels.

    8 pet sheep.

On our farm we have about 150 beef cattle, and round about 3,000 hens.

I was supposed to retire last year, but ....no way!!

It takes me about 5 hours a day to get round all my animals (about 2 hours would do it if I wasn't taking Arimidex.)

In my house I have 21 dogs, all my old favorites, the rest live in custom built heated luxury kennels just outside my back door. I can see them all from my kitchen window as they come out to play.

The ones that live in with me are only allowed in the kitchen and a sun room, built specifically for them. They all curl up on two big settees, or get under the kitchen table, and are no trouble at all really.

Before bc I would keep myself 5 or 6 puppies a year, but now its only 1 or 2, I didn't keep any for the first 2 years after dx.I am just in the process of deciding which 2 puppies to keep from the 3 litters I have for sale at the moment.

So, these are all I have at the moment, most of the dogs have names, but I never remember the correct name anyway.

I also have 11  rescue  dogs, ones people have dumped on me over the last few years, I will never turn anything away, just get DH to extend my kennels for me.

The feed bills are a headache, I get 2 great big tubs of horrible things , like pigs heads, lambs lungs, and tons of bones from my local butcher, that helps me a great deal, the dogs and cats tuck into this lot , it feeds them for half the week, the rest of the time they get complete food.

So as this topic is Pets....who lives with you , I think thats all I can think of at the moment, no doubt I will have missed out someone along the line, or yet another litter of kittens will come crawling out of the woodwork!!

Oh, they are so cute!!!! Those dogs, turtles and goats are precious. I love them all.

Naughty - sex of turtles. Good question! I don't know how to tell the sex. Growing up, we had Wilbur, a box turtle - apparently he was a boy, cause we got him a girl and they had an egg together! Laid in their water dish (big frying pan). Maybe Wilbur was a girl and we got a boy...?

We have one dog, a chocolate Lab, Riley. Here he is wrapped around the umbrella pole on the picnic table.

My pile of fluff, Tobby, died last week.  He was 10, but he was a perpetual kitten.  So much energy...just a few weeks ago I saw him streaking across the yard in a white blur and "fly" half-way up a tree!

(I tried to post a pic, but I can't get it to work.)

My dog's name is Peaches.  She is mixed with jack russell and rat terrier.  I love her very much, she is spoiled and very, very smart. She has given me and my husband so much enjoyment!! She is a real character.  I tried downloading her as my avatar but it didn't take so I'm gonna try again.

    Rayee99, Riley is beautiful.
