Well, away for a day and I've missed a lot!

Beth, I think the first, white dress is absolutely lovely and I dont find it too sheer but think it shows too much t!t for a wedding or engagement party dress.  Maybe for later.

My favorite is the green print dress.  Just great.  I love it.  Love the birds of paradis theme, too.  Sounds much more "you" than the black and white theme, nice as that sounds.

Those platform shoes.  Ah, Raye.  I'm behind when it comes to shoes.  Beth called them gladiator.  I call them dominatrix. Tongue out  However, my free opinion is worth just what you pay for it. LOL

You mean three of you are in my area?  We could shop at Westfarms and the Farmington area?  It's only about and hour, 15 minutes for me.  Maybe we could talk PM and set up a date!  What fun!  Is April Cornell still there?  Anything interesting?

Marisa, maternity clothes are all the rage in non-preggy stores.  All those flow-y tops.

Seems dressing is one extreme or the other.  If it's not slutty, it's Talbot's, which is fine but a little matronly for me.

Whoops, my tummy tuck (part of my recent recon) was totally painless but I think I'm in the minority.  Here's something interesting I learned from a student nurse who comes from Brazil.

I was complaining about the abd. binder my surgeon had me wearing because although it stretched around my big butt, it kept popping up to my waist (a much smaller area lol)  This girl said her mother had had a tummy tuck for cosmetic reasons (I have read that Brazil has the highest rate of cosmetic surgeries in the world with tummy tucks and breast jobs leading the way.) and she had been given something that sounds like a Spanx to hold her in.  The version she had also had a snap crotch so she didn't have to pull the whole thing off every time she peed.  It sounds like those folks have tt's down to a science!  I went out and bought a few pair of control panties and immediately tossed the binder.  It kind of confused me, anyway, that my ps had me wearing a binder to support the area as I've heard that many women can't even bear anything touching that region for weeks after surgery.

Beth - I used to be totally anti plastic surgery myself before bc, but now I feel the same - open except to the most invasive procedures. A friend of mine had lipo a few years ago - she was not big by any means (had been dieting and working out), but used the lipo to get rid of the excess that she could not lose with diet and exercise. She looked fabulous after.

Tina - I had to go back and look at the pic of the shoes to see the eh S&M aspect of them. Is is all of the buckles? LOL. I love em.

Yes, the flowy top is very popular - I have some from last year and love them. My brother (in his early 30's) made the comment "what's up with the maternity shirt look"? Guess he doesn't like it. I think the tops look great with form fitting pants.

So I sent my best friend a picture of the green and white dress, and her reply...

    I hate it.

Yup, that's my BFF ladies.  I was so shocked that she wrote that, with no other comment.  I didn't even respond to the email.  I ordered the dress.  It's no a guarentee I'll wear it to the party, but if it looks hot on me, and I love it, then heck yeah I'm gonna wear it, and then won't she feel like a fool for saying that?

Maybe I'm just over reacting... which is why I didn't even respond to her email.

With the original black and white theme, I was thinking of this cute white dress with black trim and pink flowers/polka dots-- very girlie girl.  But if this dress works, and we go with the tropical floral theme, I think it'll be great.

It's just a dress, and I'm totally NOT stressing at all at this point.  I have plenty of time to work it all out, and I'm confident that between everyone on this thread I will find the right dress.  I can always take a pic and post it for comments...

Ummm...maybe she's worried you'll look so great in it...I have some "friends" like that - they have been making me miserable about my pregnancy..saying mean things and telling me I'm going to start looking awful..blah blah...

I got really upset and then realized they were jealous I look great.

And that dress is awesome and you will look great..so I'm guessing that the reason ;)

OK, I seem to be the only one who preferred the second of two dresses that Beth had links to in one post.

But that was before the green floral dress. I love the green floral dress for your engagement party ... I think that it prefaces your Jamaica wedding beautifully.

(I still prefer the second of the two dresses as a "wedding dress"!)

Well, about the lipo, I was only considering doing it if and when I would get all that deadened tissue removed from my belly.

I hesitated for a moment while considering it, because you, Beth, have really made me want to switch out my implants for my own tissue.  However, I pretty much have nothing since my whole belly is riddled with scar tissue.

And, the fat in my legs is truly fat that likes me a whole lot and doesn't want to leave me.  I'm not so fond......

Whoops, you can have a tummy tuck if you want but still have recon with you own tissue.  How about that fanny fat?  Most of us have a good bit of it.  (Well, I do, for one.)  Thigh fat can also be used but I hear it is a bit trickier to do it right.  Maybe Beth and the recon.org site can give you more information about that.

Hey, it would be one way of getting rid of that fat that loves you so much!

My opinion is that you should consult with a PS that isn't just a cosmetic doc-- see someone who does free tram or diep... just for a consult to see what you're a candidate for.

as far as the green and white dress, it's going to be for the rehearsal dinner in Jamaica.  After talking it over with my mom, we're staying with the white, black, and pink theme.

The tropical theme just feels like over doing it, and I have to remember that I don't want a big production, and I want the brunch to have a simple elegance.

Back to the drawing board for a dress.

Okay girls.  Saw my surgeon today.  Surgery is booked for June 9th.  I'm having my nipples redone, and scar revision to my ab scar, and then my flanks sucked out. WAHOO.

I'll be intubated which sucks cause they have to flip me over, and I'll wake up in a binder and support bra, and probably be hopped up on drugs for a few days.  I AM SO EXCITED!

    tina, you're too funny girl.

Beth - getting you flanks sucked out, eh? You're gonna be a whole new woman! I am excited for you (although I think you are beautiful just how you are).

Have a good weekend ladies. Maybe I'll have some time for shopping for some new summer clothes. Will let you know. My mom is coming over with shovels and landscaping ideas, so probably not!

So the dresses that I ordered arrived.  The green and white one is adorable.  I'm definitely going to wear it when we go to Jamaica this November.  I got two other dresses from victorias secret that I love!  Got a few things from Boston proper, although not as excited as I usually am.  Now the search is on for a pair of white shoes.

What is scar revision?  Just curious.....is it only for the reconstruction type you had, Beth?

The white shoes are just for the summer-- I can't seem to find any that I'm head over heels for.

The scar revision has to do with my reconstruction.  My drains were on the end of each hip.  One hip had a pretty big dog ear that was removed during my stage two surgery.  Over the years it just never really matched the other side.  It's really only noticeable if  point it out.

I'm happy to get it fixed though.

Do you ever worry, after dancing up a sweat with that hottie at the club, about how you smell? Wouldn't it be great to have a little something on your person that could spruce up your scent? Of course, there's no WAY you want to carry a whole bottle (even travel-sized) around in your purse all the time -- what if it spills?

Gallery: Why aren't you wearing this?

Makowsky 'Eden' Convertible SatchelSolve all your scent-related problems with this Marc Jacobs 'Daisy' Solid Perfume Ring, available for $30 at Nordstrom. It's a mod, gold, daisy ring that twists open to reveal the Marc Jacobs Daisy solid perfume within, making it a cinch for you to take a moment to powder your nose in the ladies room and add a dash of fabulous fragrance.

Of course, you've got to have an outfit that works with a large daisy ring, but it's almost summer -- shouldn't be too hard to do!

Beth - what type of white sandles are you looking for? I will help you search (one of my favorite things - searching online, not at the stores)

Beth, are you looking for flat sandals or with heels and/or wedge and/or platform?  Do you plan on walking on the beach with these sandals?

www.Zappos.com lets you search for shoes by sandals, etc., then narrow the search by color.  That way, you don't have to go through a gazillion pairs to find the white ones.  Free shipping and returns/exchanges.

I'm looking for a white open toe heel.  (flats, ha ha you girls crack me up) the only time I wear flats, is flip flops on the beach, or to run errands.

I found a pair from boston proper and they were $130, which for me is just ridiculous for a pair of shoes that I'll wear for the next 3 months.

I'll try to find a pic to show what I'm looking for.

I've been shopping for Beth, trying to "Bethalize" my eye and have been having a hard time at finding anything except these, which are just perfect except not for the green and white dress.

I have, however, found a pair that I like for myself, only I have nowhere to wear them.

Hey, these are nice, too! In teal.

Oh, and aren't these just GORJ....  http://tiny.cc/qUnPA

Okay, this is getting dangerous.  No more shoe shopping!

As you can tell, I am technologically challenged..............

Trying to use Photobucket.  Hell will freeze over before I get it right.

I've been shopping for shoes, trying to "Bethalize" my eye.  These are perfect for our Diva but not with the green and white dress.  Only $430 at Nordie's.

    These are mine, mine, mine.

Oh, I'm having so much fun.  Bettye Muller Casino Sandal.

How the hell do you guys walk in heels?!?!?!?!

I guess my MS is part of the issue, but what was my excuse for being unable to walk in them before I had MS?

I wish I could walk in heels.  Heels are always adorable, sexy, and will go with every outfit.  Flats are dowdy and so school-teacher.  That's all I have!!!
