Sorry, if I didn't make myself clear. Of course, this isn't a Democratic thread--it's an Obama4president thread. I suppose what I should have said is that it would be nice if the nasty stuff were saved for the Republican thread, where it may have a more appreciative audience. I don't read it, so I wouldn't know. But, of course, post the nasties wherever you wish! No doubt, it will toughened us up for the Willy Horton and Swift Boat ads that are soon to follow--or have they already begun!
Slamming Obama for his record is a very legitimate exercise (a very thin one, at that), and the same is true for Hillary and John McCain. Using the type of sleaze authored by Ann Coulter is just ugly.
Correction: I read my last post and in no way do I state it's a Democratic threat; rather I just stated my disgust with that posting (and now we know why--from Ann Coulter) and wondered why, since Ann Coulter supports Republican candidates, it was not posted on the Republican thread, where I suspect such stuff finds a more willing audience. And I still ask, how boring is it over there since so many declared Republicans continue to post here.
-
The last time I put a post on here I said I was for Obama, but you know after watching alot of speeches I became concerned because as mentioned earlier I hear alot of "It's time for a change" over and over, but I'm not hearing what those changes will be. So I'm starting to swing over to Hilary. I'm not American and can't vote but as I said before the US election concerns all of us in the world, it really sort of is a world election. Who ever ends up President affects Canadians, Mexicans, heck everyone. I just wish Obama would stop with the change retorhic and state what changes he will make. I know he will pull out of Irag as quickly as possible but what other changes will he make. Hilary is for Universal health care and has faught for it for years until she was shut up while Bill was president. But when I think of basic living I hear more plans that Hilary has and it makes me feel good. Oh confusion, confusion, I'm so glad I don't have to vote.

Besides Hillary saying yesterday she wants to open up our reserves, Pelosi just came out asking for Bush to stop stockpiling oil:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Speaker of the House of Representatives on Thursday called on the White House to temporarily stop sending crude oil into the nation's emergency stockpile.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters she was calling on President George W. Bush to work with Democrats to find a way to "temporarily suspend" oil deliveries to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
The White House immediately rejected the plea. "We don't believe the fill rates have a meaningful impact on oil supplies," White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said.
"We continue to fill the reserve to provide an added layer of protection to the American people in cases of severe supply disruption."
Pelosi said suspending deliveries would save drivers 5 cents to 24 cents per gallon at the pump.
As U.S. benchmark crude oil prices hit a record near $120 a barrel this week, the Bush administration insists that filling the reserve accounts for less than one-tenth of 1 percent of daily supply, and has no meaningful effect on prices.
The nearly 701 million barrels of crude oil stored in underground salt caverns in Louisiana and Texas are meant as a supply buffer in case of major supply disruptions like the 2005 hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast oil patch. It was created by Congress in 1975 after the Arab oil embargo.
Current shipments come to about 70,000 barrels per day, while the United States uses about 21 million bpd.
Democrats in the Senate are also pursuing legislation that would require the Energy Department to suspend shipments to the reserve if prices are too high.
Democratic Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota said he would seek to attach an amendment to an upcoming supplemental appropriations bill that would forbid the government from sending oil to the SPR if oil prices are above $75 a barrel.
"I believe I have the votes," Dorgan told reporters. "I think I'm going to be able to get this dome."

McCain called for that a few weeks ago.
From NPR on April 10th
McCain Says Stop Adding to Strategic Oil Reserves
Republican presidential hopeful John McCain called on the federal government to stop adding to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, in an effort to curb record high oil and gas prices.
McCain spoke at a small business roundtable in Brooklyn and said with oil selling for over 100-dollars a barrel, the federal government should stop buying oil for its emergency stockpile. He said if the classic laws of supply and demand hold, that should lower the price of oil. The government has been adding to the reserve at a rate of about 300-thousand barrels a week. That's about 3-tenths of one percent of total US consumption.

I am so sick of Bush and his loyalty to the nations of OPEC and the Texan/Oklahoman, whereever, oilers!
-
Madalyn--aside from her ability to work with Republicans, Hillary Clinton has been an excellent senator in her representation of New York. She has worked very diligently to bring more industry and jobs to upstate New York, which is a depressed area. I had a summer home in the Catskills for a while and I am very much aware of how hard she worked for upstate New York.
Also, she worked very hard for New York after 9/11. A Canadian emergency room physician that I know can't stop singing her praises after Hillary helped her get compensation for the damage to her lungs after 9/11. Also, she ran into Hillary a day or so after 9/11 when Hillary was walking around Ground Zero encouraging the workers to keep going. She was alone, with only one secret service agent tagging along. There were no cameras following her and it wasn't a publicity stunt. And this same physician hates George Bush, mainly because their triage group was closed down while they were still trying to help the workers when George Bush came along to make his speech. His was very definitely a publicity stunt since the people who were actually working to help had to close up shop so his security could be secured.
Go Hillary!

I have not finished reading this thread so, I may be bringing up something that's already posted.
Did anyone hear about the 32 people shootings in Chicago...I think it was last weekend? It was on the news. I can't remember details, but I thought WTH! Of course it was gang related.
Shirley

What I heard today on television is that the reserve would only last us 58 days. And it's not going to cut the price at the pumps that much.
I believe Pelosi promised to get the price of oil down TWO YEARS AGO! Hmmmm...more promises no one can keep. So, the lesson, don't believe EVERYTHING good you hear.
I haven't had the chance to read Coulter's article. It should be interesting.

Anne:

You're joking right about this being an Obama4president thread? Thought so. LOL
We need to report ALL the news on ALL presidential sites because the readers who are interested in these politicians need to be informed of the good, bad and ugly.
Now, I'll have to read the Coulter article and see if I agree with ANYTHING she wrote.

Shokk,
Little GOP sweetheart, I'm back. Gee, this ole Demo, trying to hold on to almost middle class standing, with gas at 3.75/gallon, needs to work more than post online to Repubs who won't listen to reason anyway! Besides, I'm not going to expose my already delicate eyesight to the vile spewings of Anne Coulter. Now, with the exception of The First Occupant and Big Dick, I try not to call people names, it's not nice. But Coulter is a nut case any way you look at it.
I wonder why people go to any level to find something negative about a candidate, any candidate. Is is that the person fears the candidate may win and actually change the status quo? Is it done out of a genuine desire to show how absolutely evil anyone who thinks differently is? Just curious??
OK Shokk, now that I've recovered from the Coulter rant, I have to make dinner.

Ok guys the Bill Moyer interview does not look good concerning Wright........is everyone going to watch it tomorrow night at 9 eastern time on PBS?..........they just had a couple of excerpts on HardBall...........Matthews was saying there seems to be a bit of "buyers remorse" going on with Obama......Hillary just may end up pulling this out which will be amazing......not a fan but holy moly got to give credit due were credit is due..........Shokk
-
Can someone tell me does Carl Bernstein have an agenda? I heard something on 360 yesterday that just sounded peculiar.
He said something to the effect that one of Hillary's advisers admitted that it was next to impossible for her to get the nomination and that she was staying in so that there would be pressure on Obama to make her VP so that in 8 years when she is about the same age as McCain she will have a clear shot. ---
Does this sound plausible or is this CNN's fantasy.
-
CHERRYL.......my favorite left leaning real honest to goodness black woman friend you're back.........yea................ha.............missed you kiddo.........hope the fund raiser was huge success...............I go too far right when you're not around............
............hey Shirley asked this question earlier..........what's go on in South Chicago with all the violence? You have any take on it and I assume that you and Nickster are safe............Shokk
-
Of course, Anne Coulter--no more need be said.
Carl Bernstein--an agenda--of course, don't all the pundits have their own agenda? But he's fantasizing here--no way Hillary would settle for second fiddle.
Instead of getting Gore to accept the nomination, how about Edwards? Now that would be my fantasy come to life!!
Don't think ANWAR will ever happen--oh wait a minute--perhaps if there's a Bush 3rd term via McCain. On second thought we Californians will have to stay in the Union to keep the environment safe. LOL
-
Shokk,
Yep, I'm safe out here in my suburban, ungated community. The police big wig said he's going to crack down on these kilings by going after assault weapons. However, only one shooting death this year has been by an assault weapon. While some of the media is saying it isn't gang related, I have not seen anything to support their theory. It is also interesting to note that so far 24 students in the Chicago Public Schools have been killed this year. Somebody needs to do something concrete and soon.
Cherryl, the suburban anti gun girl
-
I agree with Grace re Carl Bernstein; he does have an agenda. If you've ever listened to him on Hillary, you'll realize that he most definitely does not have her interests at heart.
Nancy Pelosi also dislikes her; in her case, I wonder if she's hoping she'll be the first woman president!
Just heard that the government deliberately gave out incorrect statistics regarding attempted suicides by returning vets. Government said it was in the range of 790, when in fact it was over 12,000, or 1,000+ a month. Government actually issued a memo to the effect that these numbers should be hidden from CBS that apparently was doing a story on it. This administration is a tragedy for this country.
-
It is a tragedy--when will people wake up? That's a bit of a stretch to say in the range of 790, when it has been over 12,000. I also believe the government knows exactly how many innocent Iraqi women, children, and men have been killed and/or maimed by Bush's Folly of War--but they sure don't want to tell us. And to think that this country is responsible for bringing war to Iraq--an unfounded war--brought on by the lack of honesty, truth and ethics of a Republican regime. It's time to put the Democrats back in the White House AND as replace as many Republican members of Congress that come up for re-election in the next 4 years (to start with).
Go Democrats!!
-
I think it will be next to impossible for her to get elected if she doesn't have the popular vote. She has 3 ways to get the superdelegates to vote for her. Popular vote, having all the large states in her pocket which equal electorial votes, and analyzing the voting in the primaries. They've already begun doing that. Obama is not capturing the white vote as well as he should be. He could turn that around, but if it holds, Hillary will have a good case to make on her own behalf.
The talking heads were using polls to say McCain can beat both of them, but we can't go by polls this far out from an election. They're just filling up dead air on TV if they believe that. Or they just like listening to themselves talk.
-
Just a guess, but I think the talking heads just like listening to themselves talk. I could be wrong though....
-
Well I could be wrong but if the main stream hard working gun owning country loving God fearing democrat doesn't step up and take back ya'lls party from the far left wing country hating moveon.org group of wac jobs you got going on you guys will see a third term Bush (John McCain is no Bush by the way)......I was watching Harold Ford today and I sure do like him...........he told ya'lls party four years ago if you guys didn't move to the right a little bit you are never going to win office and Juan Williams has said the same thing........you democrats and your party have been hijacked........and Hillary knows it and she is stepping to the right as fast as she can two steps to the right and one step back to the left...............but at least she is inching her way more to the middle........of course like I said I could be wrong..........and believe me I am well aware that we have our right wing nut jobs but we don't let them control our party..........well we at least don't make it so in your face about it..........at least we "act" embarrass when some far right wing Evangelist says that New Orleans was flooded because God was angry about all the sin going on..........it seems like if God was angry about a sinning city he would take out Las Vegas..........so I am going to finish my cold Sprite Zero and take my nightly medication and go to bed...........may not agree with all you political junk heads but I do enjoy the debate.........by the way has anyone heard from Amy......she must be heartbroken.........see you guys tomorrow...........Shokk
-
Darn, Shokk. You made me LMAO!! You think Hannity would have you on as a guest? You might get HIRED! LOL
Shirley
-
Gee, Shokk. How do you really feel?
I was wondering about Amy too.
-
Yeah Shokk,
How do you really feel?
So enjoy your run-on sentences. Give us more, please!!
I just think the country needs to move a little more to the left--re-balance the planet before we tip over on the right--maybe the right should move a few steps more to the middle--then Hillary wouldn't have to step sideways at all. LOL
-
well we at least don't make it so in your face about it..........at least we "act" embarrass[ed]
You'll have to let us know next time when you're acting embarrassed. I guess I missed it.
