I think Hillary made a good move last night lowering her minimum donation.  I contributed as soon as the results started coming in last night

and at that time the minimal donation was $10.  This morning it had been lowered to $5.00.  I'm glad she gave the web site in the speech.

With the media assault that occurred in PA. she will certainly need every penny for the rest of the battle states.

I can't believe this:  "Following comments insisting that information on contraception be included alongside abstinence education, Obama stated, "I've got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old.  I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby.  I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16."

I certainly agree that morals and values be taught, as well as contraception. I also think that since my dd and I have a close relationship and hope that it doesn't change when she is 16 (LOL! fingers crossed) that if she does get pg, that she'd tell me and we'd raise the baby or put the sweet child up for adoption.  I would never see it that my daughter was "punished" because she got pg.  I do understand there are those that would choose not to have a baby and that's THEIR choice, not mine, but I can't go into the bedrooms or dr's offices of others and force them to use my values/morals/religious views/conscience.  Just like I would not want them to tell me what I can and can't wear ...

Howard Fineman is reporting on MSNBC that Clinton will soldier on to North Carolina and to not be surprised if Elizabeth Edwards makes several appearances with Hillary and let her feelings be known who she stands with.  He says that this could have a real impact there as they love Mrs. Edwards.

He did say that while this was likely to happen, John Edwards would remain "neutral" on the sidelines.

It would take alot of courage for Edwards to endorse Hillary since Obama is overwhelmingly popular in his state.

Barack Obama does not, as we are repeatedly told, run negative ads or speak negatively of his opposition.  The following have been said by Obama himself or by his chief strategist or campaign manager.  Even worse, unlike Hillary, who in general is willing to do her own dirty work, he gets others to do it for him.  It’s about equal to him not showing up to vote on the Iran resolution and then hitting Hillary for voting for it, or for refusing to call for health care mandates.

Is that why I have cat hanging around my house all the time?  I really thought he was after the birds that play in my bushes, but he knows I support Hillary.  I should have known.

Elizabeth Edwards is our hero.  She is definately a woman of high principles.  She likes Hillary's hc plan, and she's willing to endorse her because of it, and I'm sure for other reasons also.  John is staying neutral.  I've decided he's no longer my choice for Veep. He had his chance.

At this point I think neither of the Democratic candidates is electable. Unfortunately it looks like whoever it is will be ripped apart by the Republicans. that's how Bush beat out McCain for president elect on the Republican ticket. He just stands too close to Bush. I cannot support someone who is unwilling to end the war, will continue tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, and who seems to waffle from one side of an issue to another. When will we see his platform? He better get better support staff to get him some news time, as it's all going to the Democrats.

And don't kid yourself, if Hillary by some chance is able to secure the nomination for President, the Republicans will shred her before the November election--too many skeletons, and too much history that many can't or won't forget. Plus there's the whole issue of Bill. Lots of people think that he is hazardous to her electability and will she be able to "control" the little man?

I really, really wish John Edwards could be the Democratic nominee. He and Elizabeth could have worked wonders. this race is beginning to feel like the last 2 elections--I agree w/Anneshirley--the Democrats are really blowing it by not getting their act together!

Susie, I don't have a problem with the "crazy aunt" example.  In the end, a lot of the crazy aunts end up being right!  Personally, when I look at all the college kids supporting Obama, I think back to '60s and '70s, the time when all those "crazy aunts" (and their male counterparts) were young and idealistic and thought they could change the world.  Obama is selling an old story.  Been there, done that, seen it all before.  And it didn't work.

Funny, isn't it, that the young women from the '60s and '70s grew up to become the crazy aunts?  That's what happens when you get out in the world and face the reality of supporting yourselves and a family.  You finally shake off the idealism and get some common sense.

If Elizabeth Edwards ran for president, I'd give up my life for a year to campaign for her.  She has more integrity (and brains) than any of the candidates. 

Grace--I don't think Bill Clinton is a negative.  He has, at times, done some foolish things during this campaign (and I don't particularly like his centrist positions--I'm not a reach across the isle person, particularly since I don't agree with any of their positions) but he is a brilliant man and I actually will be comforted knowing he's there at 3:00 in the morning (no sleazy jokes, please).  My only concern is that we fix this country and who better than Bill working behind the scenes (or even in front). 

Maybe neither will get the nomination at the convention and they'll push Gore into accepting. 

Yes, I have two cats and would have 20 if my husband would agree, so I too fall into the aunts with cats category.

The key problem for Hillary's campaign is that normal people reel back in horror at her association with the Clinton administration. (Which is why, as her supporter, I refer to her as simply "Hillary.")

If Hillary could run exclusively on her record since becoming a senator from New York, she'd be a relatively moderate Democrat who hates the loony left -- as we found out this week when a tape of Hillary denouncing Moveon.org surfaced. Think Joe Biden in a pantsuit.

But because of her unfortunate marriage, Hillary comes with a cast of undesirables like James Carville, Paul Begala, Terry McAuliffe, Joe Conason -- and of course Bill Clinton, along with his trusted impeachment manager Larry Flynt. Buy one, get the entire dirt-bag collection free!

No one wants those people back.

Even semi-respectable Democrats look sleazy by their association with the Clintons. No serious Democrat defended Clinton over his "presidential kneepads" incident with Monica Lewinsky. OK, that's not including adult film star Ron Jeremy, if you consider him a serious Democrat. Which I do.

That's why cable TV producers had to call in the O.J. defenders to flack for Clinton during his impeachment. Any Democrats still clinging to Hillary at this point appear to be soulless climbers desperate for jobs in the next administration.

So repellent are Bill Clinton's friends (to the extent that a sociopathic sex offender with a narcissistic disorder can actually experience friendship in the conventional sense) that B. Hussein Obama's association with a raving racist reverend and a former member of the Weather Underground hasn't caused as much damage as it should.

On one hand, Obama pals around with terrorists. On the other hand, Hillary pals around with James Carville. Advantage: Obama.

Asked why he would be friends with the likes of Weatherman Bill Ayers, Obama said: "The notion that ... me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense."

That's a slick answer -- even "Clintonian"! -- but the problem is, Ayers and his Weatherman wife, Bernadine Dohrn, won't stop boasting about their days as Weathermen.

It's not simply that they haven't repented. To the contrary, those were their glory days! And Ayers isn't just someone who lives in the neighborhood: He and Dohrn were there at the inception of Obama's political career, hosting a fundraiser for Obama at their home back in 1995.

Besides wanton violence, including a dozen bombings of buildings such as the Pentagon, the U.S. Capitol, historic statues and various police stations, the Weathermen's "revolutionary" activity consisted primarily of using the word "motherf-----" a lot, dropping LSD, coming up with cutesy phrases -- like "the Weather Underground" -- and competing over who could make the most offensive statements in public. (I also believe Dohrn may have set the North American record for longest stretch without bathing.)

At one rally, Dohrn famously praised the Manson family for murdering Sharon Tate and others, shouting: "Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them. They even shoved a fork into a victim's stomach! Wild!"

In a better country, just saying "Dig it!" in public would get you 20 years in the slammer.

Dohrn has recently tried to clarify her Manson remarks by saying it was some sort of "statement" about violence in society and, furthermore, that she said it while under sniper fire in Bosnia. Also recently, the members of the Manson family have distanced themselves from Ayers and Dohrn.

At other rallies, Dohrn said, "Bring the revolution home, kill your parents -- that's where it's at."

After a Chicago Democratic official, Richard Elrod, became paralyzed while fighting with a privileged looter during the Weathermen's "Days of Rage," Dohrn led the Weathermen in a song sung to the tune of Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay":

You thought you could stop the Weatherman

But up-front people put you on your can,

Only because of a merciful God is the author of that ditty, Ted Gold, not teaching at Northwestern or the University of Illinois now, alongside Dohrn or Ayers. That's because Gold is no longer with us, having accidentally blown himself up with a bomb intended for a dance at Fort Dix for new recruits and their dates.

While trying to assemble the bomb at an elegant Greenwich Village townhouse that belonged to one of the revolutionaries' fathers, the bungling Weathermen blew up the entire townhouse, killing Gold and two other butterfingered revolutionaries. Leave it to these nincompoops to turn their glorious Marxist revolution into an "I Love Lucy" sketch.

So in addition to being stupid and violent, the Weathermen were also incompetent terrorists. Would that Timothy McVeigh had been so inept!

If he had only said he bombed the building in Oklahoma City to protest American "imperialism," McVeigh, too, could be teaching at Northwestern University, sitting on a board with and holding fundraisers for presidential candidate B. Hussein Obama.

Where was the article published?  Enjoyed reading it.

I am now, and have been since the beginning a Hillary supporter.  I have watched numerous debates between Hillary and Obama and I am always left with an uneasy feeling that Obama has actually said NOTHING.  His continual refrain is "it's time for change."  Duh, we know this.  His double-speak is far more dangerous than Bill Clinton's ever was. 

If Obama ends up in the general election, it will be the first time in my life that either I will have to write in a candidate or vote Republican.

You're right Shokk ... Hillary would no doubt be under fire for the decisions Bill Clinton made eight years ago.  Too bad, though.  Would Laura Bush be blamed for the Iraq War of her husband eight years from now if she were running for President?

Barak is being held accountable for his current actions.  Why is Hillary being held accountable for the decision her husband made eight years ago?  Barak continues to affliate with these people.  What has he done for the state of IL? What has Hillary been doing for the state of NY and in the senate? 

Since I'm one of those gun-toting, bitter, poor people, crippled into believing my faith might save me, I'll stick with Hillary.

Unfortunately, I opened this thread before eating my breakfast, read that disgusting piece, and wonder now if I'll ever eat again. 

James Carville, absolutely love the man!  And did he ever have it right about Bill Richardson.  How he could have married that rabid right-wing wife of his is beyond me.  Almost as bad as marrying Ann Coulter. Paul Begala, not so great as Carville, but still delightful. 

Guilt by association, one of our great constutional guarantees, or at least it would appear to be when I read some of the stuff published here.  But I suppose it works to an extent. We are all susceptible even when we try our best not to be.  When I read articles like that, with the author claiming to support Hillary Clinton, I almost become an Obama supporter so as not to be associated with people like that--almost, of course is the operative word 

And may we assume that McCain suffers from a similar guilt of association in accepting the endorsement of a minister who hates Catholics, Gays, and everyone else that's different from himself.  I suppose those of us here who are actually Democrats and not wanderers from the "respectful" Republican thread, which I can only assume must be more boring than this one, should be grateful for that since I hear, from all the pundits, that no one can win without the Catholic vote. Can only hope it's true.

Hmmmm...I'm a conservative independent, leaning toward republican with a sense of humor.....where should I be posting?  LOL

I am still not wild about the 3 main choices for president.  The only thing I DO know is there is no way I am voting for Hillary.  Other than that I guess I am still not 100% sure what I am doing. 

I wish there was a candidate who whole-heartily supports the opening of ANWAR.  I would vote for that in a heartbeat.  We are sitting on a huge oil reserve that would help free us from opec and no one wants to drill for it.  Since I live in Alaska, and support responsible use of our natural resources, I wish I could find a candidate that supports that....

Anneshirley with all do respect I had no idea this was a "Democrat" thread............there is no Democrat in the title of this thread.........I thought this was a Presidential thread concerning the upcoming elections and there is a "Republican" running for office even if you don't like it.....I think a Republican thread was started mainly because there is so few of us and we have a tendency to get "beat up" for it.......and some Republicans don't post here because of it.........I personally would have no problem with you posting in the "Republican" thread if you had something to say to us..........these boards are open and you can post were ever you want.............you know for Democrats to be so understanding and accepting of everyone's lifestyles and beliefs is so refreshing of course it is as long as you believe as they do.......Shokk

I happen to love James Carville but then I love Mary Matalin too --obviously James does too. LOL

I used to like Paul Begala but since he has joined George Soros (whom I loathe) in a massive smear campaign against McCain, --I have lost all respect for him.

Bren and let me say this if Hillary is going to say she is more experienced than Obama because she was first lady for eight years (and by the way I think she has a point) then she can't pick and choose what part of her husband's presidency she chooses to embrace........she has to accept all of it or none of it............IMO...........Shokk
