I've begun using a light self tan on my face and chest.  It really helps to make me look more healthy and when I add minerals to smooth out the tones, I feel so much better!

Marin, don't forget you can buy the Smashbox Photofinish in a trial/travel size which is half the contents for half the price.  Sephora online has it; I don't know if their stores carry it.

My favorite concealer for around the eyes is the YSL Touche Eclat.  Very light and smooth.  They have a slightly pinkish color for me but I think from your photo you can use a beigey color.  IMPORTANT:  Use the Photofinish under the concealer, too.

Remember when we were discussing the DHC line from Japan and how so many liked their oil cleanser?  Well, I was looking at the contents and it seems that it's pure olive oil??? WTH?

Oh, and Marin, "aging corpse?"  I don't THINK so.

I'm off, myself, in a few minutes for a little shopping expedition.  Looking for headbands to control the boing-y curls.  Some new makeup and maybe a pot of Clinique Aromatics body lotion.  Mmmmm.

I just found this page on the CVS site regarding when to toss your make-up. I thought that it would be a good reminder how long make-up really lasts. http://www.cvs.com/Assets/images_promo/good_housekeeping_article.pdf

I checked in my make-up bag to check the items that are past and quite a few things are out. I usually just put on a moisturizer, a little blush and some light eye shadow. My mascara was about 2 yrs old and dried to cement. I am looking at replenishing some things, my mother and I were chosen to be models in the 2009 local breast cancer calendar and will be getting portraits done next week and I want to look my best.

Oh, I just read this tip (in Shape magazine) for making your lashes look fuller and I plan to try it this weekend. They suggest using clear lip gloss....apply a bit to the tip of your finger and lightly brush your lashes with it..AFTER applying mascara and letting the mascara dry. Guess it can't hurt?

You should always purge your makeup bag as needed.  Mascara especially!  If you are a serial pumper, meaning you take the wand, and pump it in and out of the tube, you are putting air into the tube, and it will dry out faster!

If you're in doubt about makeup THROW IT OUT.  The bacteria in those things are gross.  A quick tip for washing make up brushes.  Just use warm water and a little rubbing alcohol, and tap the makeup out of the brush and then let them air dry. Personally if you're changing colors of makeup, you should get new brushes.

Eyeliner is fine as long as you keep sharpening it.  And DON'T SHARE MAKEUP.  I know that is so 9th grade, but it's the truth.  Powders last longer then cream based makeup, and if you keep foundation too long, the color may change.

Marin- I've never heard the gloss trick on mascara, let me know how it works.

I love my photofinish by Smashbox!

Marin, I use the photofinish, foundation and then facial highlighter on the lower part of the eye socket bone all the way the side of the face. It's white but blends with the foundation after you blend it a bit.

If I ever need concealer, I just use the kind that comes in a lipstick type tube ... I think it's covergirl.  Like a crayon, I just draw it on! LOL.

don't forget your Rimmel white eyeliner!!  I use MAC eyemakeup!

I clean my natural hair brushes with shampoo and follow with conditioner.  Rinse well and let air dry with the hair part hanging over the edge of the counter.

They remain soft and flexible and apply minerals and blush more evenly, IMO.

A reminder for all of us lazy gals:  Always do your face first thing in the morning whether or not you think you will see anyone or go anywhere.  That way there is no room for forgetting it later and running out for "just a few minutes" and them bumping into 10 people you know who will then think you look like $hit.

I think the Clinique bonus time is right now for you Clinique fans.

Wow...I just got back from the mall where I went to Ulta for the Smashbox Photo Finish (I got it in the travel size, as you suggested Tina) and some concealer. I ended up buying DermaBlend again because I have really liked the coverage and they now have it in little pots which make it easier to control and apply. It was expensive though...$31 for the tiny pot! Anyway, they don't carry Clinique foundation, so I went to a department store for it. Of course, it was "bonus time" and I just looked at my haul....amazing! The bag is very sweet and it has black "high impact" mascara, a healthy-size tube of liquid facial soap, a color pallette compact with blush and 2 eyeshadows, a bottle of "dramatically different" moisturizing lotion, and 2 full-size lipsticks in some pretty shades. Geez....all that AND what I went in for, the foundation, for $25. Now that's a deal!

I also bought some Sally Hansen wax strips since my Poetic is running out and I wanted to try something cheaper. Has anyone used the strips on the bikini area?

Gee, Marin, you know me and waxing the nether regions. Embarassed Yell  So, no, I cannot help.  But, your question reminded me of another delicate question:  Have any of you dyed your fuzzies down there? Uh, I've just noticed a few silvers among the lot.  Oh, geez.  There, I've said it.

Oh Tina....that so reminds me of the Sex and the City episode when Samantha does exactly that- dyes her pubic hair. She uses a red tint and it comes out bizarro-Bozo-hair-RED! It's just hilarious (because it's fiction, of course), but if I recall correctly, she dyes it back..? Or something. Anyway, it all started when she found a few stray grays. Very funny. I think if I were you, I'd just trim the few hairs close with nail scizzors. Once it becomes more than a few....hmmmmm....try one of those natural, temporary dyes maybe? Or do like me....get rid of it ALL Wink!

Remember that CVS wrinkle filler cream I mentioned a couple of months ago?  Similar to the L'Oreal product?  Well, I've been using it over my whole face since I ran out of my regular moisturizer and I love it!  My face looks smoother, if it's not my imagination.  Or wishful thinking?  I also have been using my Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvantor, along with my Vit A and C serum stuff, so it could be a combination, but I really do think the CVS wrinkle cream is a good part of it.  I think the tube was about $16.00 or so.

Marin, I bought some Clinique, too, the other day and got the freebies.  It's a good haul this time.  Cute flower bag, too.  Unfortunately, both lipsticks are too dark for me but the blush/eye shadows work and will be good for an overnight kit.

Isn't it nice to get somethting "free?"  LOL

Now, henna for the hiney.  That's a thought. Laughing

Oh Tina...I LOVE the idea of henna down there! And to make it even better, I suggest getting it shaped....a heart or a lightning bolt? Hmmmmmmm...? Wouldn't you feel awesome walking around with your "little secret"?

OK, back to practical matters....what's the CVS cream called exactly? And....has anyone tried anything from the "Boots" collection? My Director says she's really trippin' on the stuff!

And I do have a report on the Dermablend cream in the little pot....it's fabulous! My undereye cirles are completely covered up and it stays on all day! It was totally worth the $31!

Final topic....I'm getting depressed being so white as the weather turns warm and this will be the first year in 3 that I'm not doing the tanning bed. Ugh! I'm considering getting an occasional overall spray and supplementing times in between with self-tanner lotion. Is the spray really worth it though? How long does each application last? Anyone?

Try a search on the http://www.cvs.com/ website for CVS Collagen Treatment Wrinkle Reducer.  I cannot copy/paste the URL as it's too long.  My tube is silver color but it's the same product.  $15.99.

    Haven't tried the Boots yet.

I had my new shorts on the other day and my legs looked tooooo pale, too.  I just hate the smell of tanners, though.  Maybe I will sit outside every now and then for a little tan.  Probably won't be enough, though.  Isn't there another new gradual tanner out there this year?  Jergens Natural Glow Express?  I'll have to hit cvs for that one.

I don't like the spray booths - they don't last long...I use St. Tropez..but I ran out and am waiting for a new one to be shipped so I've been slathering on jergens in the dark for body and face - and it's working!!!!

    I'm quite impressed with it...

How's the uhm, fragrance, on the Jergen's? Do you exfoliate each time before applying or just use it any time?

My arms and lower legs are tan because I eat lunch outside every day and I garden - but my upper thighs are like milk. Embarassed

The spray tan booth is great if you have an event.  It lasts a week- week and a half.  However, if you need a quick base, and then you want to apply a moisturizer with a bronzer in it, then that would be a good combo.

I'm about ready to give in to the UV booth myself.  I told Matt last night I can't take it anymore.

I'm thinking of getting a bandeau top or a strapless one piece bathing suit, b/c the last thing I want to do is aggrivate my ab scar, or my breast scars which are totally white and faded.

I really want my chest/arms/legs/face/upper back tan, so I think the bathing suit may actually be my answer.

Plus, when it comes time for my wedding next year at this time, I just can't roll to Jamaica for a week (prior to the wedding) as white as I am now.  I'll burn, and then look awful for the wedding pictures.

I had my top down in my car the last few days, and got a slight hint of color in my face, and I'm loving it... except for the few brown freckles I have on my nose.

G-d I miss the tanning booth.

I don't notice the smell....because the tanner I use is much more smelly...I don't exfoliate - just put it on at night...it's worked well so far...

I use spray for my back since Jeremy doesn't like to touch the "toxic" tanner as he calls it - he says it makes my skin leak brown juice..ewwww

I think the spray tanner booth works well if you moisturize everyday which I never did..I loved it but I thought it faded fast..although this GREAT place in Long Island airbrushed me - by hand - naked for only $35!!!! Wish we had that here...funny thing is the girl who owns it lived in CT

the airbrushing is a treat.  Usually it costs $100, and a lot of high end salon/spas do it here but unless I have a special event I won't spend the money.

I feel like I'm in the school yard, thinking- that if you guys start tanning, then I'm gonna do it too.  ha ha ha   the peer pressure.

I heard Fake Bake was also good - but I'm addicted to my St. Tropez

I think the Jergens smells simply terrible - just my opinion, but I have the bottle from last year and from what I hear, they've since improved the essence.

Beth - No, don't give in...  I tanned in the tanning bed prior to vacation, tanned in Florida with 36 SPF and then tanned just one more time when I got back.  Tongue out

Ooooooh, Rocktober, you do look great!  What a pretty color your hair is.  Love the cut.

Thanks, too, for the tiny url info.  Isn't it wonderful SOME of us are computer savvy?   My own computer skills similar to my swimming skills; I can stay alive in the water. Wink

Marin, how do you like the PhotoFinish?  You must have tried it by now.

Raye, my hair is very unruly, too.  I'm a bit afraid to cut it because if curls are cut at the wrong point they can be even worse.  I'm waiting until enough can be cut off so that it looks better, not worse.  My next hair appt. is next Tuesday so I may do something then.  It's a pip, isn't it?

Rocktober - Your hair is just gorgeous! And I just love the white eyeliner on you - beautiful!!

tina - yes, very unruly - I had a slight trim mid March. This morning, I discovered a small clip in my hair and I thought I had taken them all out last night. Better a clip than something else I suppose!  What are you having done next Tuesday to your hair? A trim?
