Looking forward to it. Hope they have a big room!

Are we going to do the exchange? It'll have to be a regift, I think. I don't have time to get anything before!

    Hello everyone... we are back.

Just want to THANK everyone who could make it, for showing up.  The pleasure was all mine.  Thank you.

I also want to Thank Tami and Kily from BC.Org for providing us with some goodies... everyone took home something.

The lunch went super!  We got together at 1PM and left the building at 4:30!

Pazzo Restaurant has the most delicious food, they accommodated all my requests to a T and I would definitely recommend this restaurant... OH... Adam too, the waiter... LOL, tall, dark, handsome, shaves his head, nice manners...

The gift exchange went very well and all girls really behaved themselves... no stealing went on even thou Sylvia was thinking about it!

Here is a picture of the group that participated on the

First NE Get Together in Springfield, MA on 4/5/08:

Back row: Pegk, NbN, Pat (Emelee's mom), Jean (sweetmelissa's mom) JiLilliput, Lynne, LorenaB, drw, sweetmelissa and Lynn12.

Front row: Emelee26 (and Brett), Jorf, Leahrc, florencedonna and Sylvia (drw's mom).

If I got someone's name switched... I am so sorry, as I am really famous for doing that...

Pegk: my sweet, sweet friend.  It's so nice to see you again.  We have been together for a while and met twice... when you walk in is like the sun is shining on us.

Emelee26: what else can I say about my VERY VERY GOOD FRIEND.  You know I hope my daughter turns out just like you.  You are looking more beautiful and more like your mom every time I see you.  We will continue to do our daily thing as usual...

Patricia (or is it Barbara!?!?!?!): What else can I say about you besides never getting your name right?!?!?!  You look wonderful and we should do lunch one of these days since we only work a couple of blocks away from each other.

Jorf: I did not have much time to speak to you, sorry, but can see and feel by the way you smile that you are a beautiful person.  Keep on smiling.

Jean: Again, congrats on the LV wedding... maybe one day I w/ go there...LOL it was very nice talking to you and hang in there for our sweetmelissa....

Leahrc: one more girl that I did not have time to talk much... SORRY.  But your smile is still with me...

JiLilliput: we have been talking... I hope the best for you on Monday.  My thoughts are with you.  May be a group of us can get together again to go and see one of your theater productions.

florencedonna: how old are you again????!!!!  Holy molee!!!!!!!  I would never have guessed it....  So... I will keep your 15 year old in mind for Jade (LOL).  Oh... and the IPod phone... really cool!!!!!!

Lynne: I know our "hubbies" had a great time together.  Did you have a good time w/ us as well?  Keep smiling.

LorenaB: so so glad you made it to the lunch.  You have these incredible blue eyes... I was so happy to meet you in person.  Hang in there, only three more to go!

drw: my beautiful red hair girl... I sent you a PM... hope to talk to you much more... so glad you and mom made it all the way to Springfield.

Sylvia: 14/15 year breast cancer survivor.  Kudos to you and so glad you came and joined us.

sweetmelissa: I think Jade belongs to your mom and you belong to me (LOL); you have these beautiful brown eyes... you are so strong and I hope to give you all I can.

Lynn12: How old are you again????  You have been hanging out with florencedonna, haven't you?!?!  We will be seeing each other again b/c you know I like to go to Northampton... it was very nice talking to you and I think Playboy will be giving you a call very soon too (LOL).

More pictures w/ come later... now I have to take a rest before I have to go out and pick up Jade from her school dance...

    deborye,

You'd be surprised, especially if your a survivor, how easy it is to raise the money...

but FYI Crew members don't need to raise any money, they just commit to help out on a team for the weekend. It's grueling-I have to go to a meeting on Friday evening and go to set up on Saturday at 4:00am, stay in a tent Saturday night and get up at the crack of dawn for Sunday.

If you are interested and have only a couple of hours to spare you could help out as a volunteer that weekend. (May 16-18 in Boston). There are many volunteer jobs, such as checking in walkers on Event Eve, helping to serve food at the Wellness Village and handing out t-shirts for the Closing Ceremonies.

For me, the whole process is helping me to continue my battle against breast cancer since my treatments have finished. I just got the sad news that a childhood friend, the daughter of my mother's best friend from HS, died from breast cancer.

    Be well everyone

    Peggy

    JiLillput: how were the results?

sweetmelissa and LorenaB: how are you feeling?

Hi Deborye and Leah, I'd love to meet up with you both!  After work can be a bit tricky, though, because I work in Newton.  I usually get back to Acton and pick my son up at around 6pm.  However, I'm home more than usual these days b/c I'm in the middle of chemo. Yell And I could always get a sitter....  Please send me a pm if you'd like to figure this out.

    Lilia (and all)

The results were mixed bag, in my opinion. I am healing well, but a re-excision has been scheduled.

    The pathology report says

    DCIS grade 2 (90%) and grade 3 (10%)

    Type Cribiform and solid

    Extent: 1.6 x 1.6 cm

    Necrosis: Present

    Nuclear grade: two and three

    Microcalcifications: absent

Margins: focally positivie at superior margin

Dr. O'Brien called the margin fully involved when I asked how close that margin was. The re-excision has been scheduled for April 30, with post-op appointment and results on May 8th. This time the consent form read quadrantectomy, rather than lumpectomy. He did explain that if there are no clean margins on this second surgery, cosmetically, they can not just do another lumpectomy, but mastectomy was pretty much be required.

In the meantime, they have referred me to a Radiation Oncologist, sent them my files, and her office will call and schedule my consultation appointment.  Dr. O'Brien's assistant said they are aware I require more surgery, but the willing to start the consultation.

Not the outcome I was really hoping for, but I prepared myself as much as possible for even the worst outcome. But as I learned earlier this year, you can never totally prepare yourself.

So while i have another month of waiting for final (hopefully!) results, I am keeping myself busy researching the radiation phase of treatment so I can have my questions ready for the radiation consultation.

    Jill
