I noticed that about where Amanda was placed on the stage last night too.
I thought, hmmm how strange.
She just has a one dimensional voice range.
Screaming.
It helps if a singer has range.
I really like little David A. but the poor guy looks like he is scared out of his wits each week.
He is so talented.
The sunshine girl was too mouthy this week.
David Cook does seem full of himself.
In my humble opinion Carly is taking a spot away from someone who is a beautiful singer with no stage experience.
I really like Michael and all the rest.
Even though Simon can be rude at least he has the guts to tell them like he sees it.
He sure needs some wardrobe help.
White tees and gray sweaters week after week just don't cut it.
He even wore a gray sweater on Oprah the other day.
I'm glad the bickering seems to have stopped between Ryan Seacrest and Simon.
It was getting obnoxious.
Has Kelli Picklers voice changed and gone up a million octives?
She sounded so high pitched.
On to "Lost" tonight ..... my personal favorite.
-
I know Sunshine girl came across mouthy this week, but I interpreted her as saying that it was ok that the judges were hard on her, and that the audience didn't need to boo what the judges were saying.
I thought she was trying to be gracious and show that she knew she had a bad performance.I still haven't watched the results show-dh refuses to watch it with me, so I have to squeeze it in when I can (hasn't happened yet today!).
LOST TONIGHT!!!! My favorite show!!!!
-
I knowww. I was just disappointed with almost everything - the way some of them talked back to the judges especially Brooke (of all people, the sweetest one of all), Amanda leaving, Jason staying (he's so charming but...), Aussie's so-so performance -- Aargh.
The only saving grace were Chikezie (he can go slow then fast, and still keep his range), and Syesha (what a beautiful girl). I definitely voted at least 5x for Chikezie!
This week didn't go too well - they should have switched to a non-Beatles theme. But maybe, next week will be better.
Can't wait!

paxton18064 .. I could have written your post, I agree with everything you said!
Sahalie .. I left when Kelli Pickler came on to sing. They had her come on last year. Isn't AI big enough that they can get some better entertainment? There is enough former AI talent as well that they don't need to keep going back to the same ones.
I do wish Amanda could have gone on tour. She's a nice change from the typical, boring, kareoke like sounds of Kristy and Ramielle at least.
-
Aurora, (awww, sleeping beauty!) I agree, they shouldn't have had Beatles music two weeks in a row.
Deb, I hear what you're saying about sunshine girl but she could have waited and listened to Simon's critique before she did that. She just came across as very full of herself talking over him IMHO!
-
Angel,
Same thoughts here with Kelly Pickler, I also left the room and totally forgot about her being on. You're right about the fact that they have so much other talent you'd think they would have someone else on for a change.....
Hey did anyone else hear when they said that one of the mentors was Dolly Parton??? She a great song writer, BUT she definately has a certain sound. Didn't Simon tell Kristy she sounded like "Dolly Parton on Helium " two weeks ago. Maybe she has been working with her too much!!!!!
Take care Klynn
-
OMG, I watched the show, and Amanda was totally lip synching the group song! You could tell, because when the girls were sitting on the benches singing, she had her smile pasted on her face, and her mouth was hardly moving!!!
-
I love David A. He's 17 and looks 12, and I bet that a lot of his fear is about his dad. Supposedly, his dad was so verbally abusive to him and other contestants on the little kid version of Am Idol 5 years ago, that Dad was barred from the set. Then at the reheasal before the performance that David forgot the words to his song, his dad screamed at him and made him cry. Sounds like Macaulay Culkin and his dad.
Kelli Pickler has an OK voice, it's the "Dumb Blonde" stuff that gags me.
And I wish Simon would NOT criticize the songs! It's embarassed me in the past seasons when they have a guest judge, and the kids all do one of their songs....and then Simon calls the songs bad or boring! He did it to Barry Manilow, Kenny Loggins, and now Paul McCartney (he said Chikezie's song was bad--I love that song!)

I was talking to my bf during part of brooke so I wish I could really go back and see it again. I thought Simon was criticizing her and she cut him off all snappy because she couldn't handle it. I didn't realize the crowd was booing simon. Now I'm all confused. She is super nice, but sometimes those are the one's that when challenged or threatened can turn nuts. But like I said, I didn't really see the whole thing clearly so I'll just write it off for now.

Hi Idolholics!
Are you ready to rock?! Last week I voted 10 times for David A, and 10 times for Michael Johns. I thought that was a significant amount. Then on Fox News a teenage girl said she had set her phone to auto dial and voted 1000 times!
Leave it to a teenager to figure that out!!
sally
-
Sally ... hahaha wow! I wonder how much my one vote counts?!?!?
Klynn ... I didn't hear that about Dolly ... I like her though but definitely a distinct sound.
I totally missed Amanda lip synching.
I hate the dumb blond act by Kelli Pickler and the I'm so sweet act by Brooke is starting to get to me ... I'm not sure I believe it any longer
Let's hope for a good show tonight! tmz lists the songs being performed tonight .. interesting!
-
I haven't contributed lately here but do watch Idol every week. It's the only show we all watch as a family!
Anyway, I wanted to mention a lady who posts Idol recaps online, her name is Linda Sharp and her 'column' is titled, "Don't Get me Started"...she's hysterical. I highly recommend her for a good laugh.
I like Jason, David C, Michael J, and Brooke.
-
Wow wow wow David Cook just blew me away....He could record that version of "Billie Jean" tomorrow and it would be number one in a week....Thank God he didn't try to sound like Michael Jackson, that would have been ugly. I love that song and it was always one of my favorite MJ songs. He absolutely in my opinion, ROCKED tonight. That really made the whole show worth watching . The rest of the show was okay , but nothing very special this week. Not sure who's going home this week but I know its not David Cook that's for sure. I thought Michael did a great job tonight too, nice mix.
Terry I'm with you , I like the same singers as you, I think the guys are better this year . So who do you guys think is going home tomorrow????
Until tomorrow Idol friends.... Hugs KLynn
-
David C was great tonight! I really liked his rendition.
The other's were so-so, I kept waiting for them to rachet up the tempo...what was the theme anyway, birth year songs? I had a houseful of teens and then our local station went on the blink for several minutes so was hard to keep up. Missed Carly and David A altogether due to the station tech difficulties.
I liked Brooke and Michael too.
I thought Jason was weak, unfortunately, and he might be in the bottom tomorrow. Also, Ramiele and Chekezie.
-
Terry, I think you have the bottom three there.
David Cook BLEW me AWAY!!! I've cheered for him from the start ... he's definitely a unique talent! I Loved that rendition of "Billie Jean!" When I heard before the show that he was going to do it, I just knew he'd change it up, just like he changed up "Hello" by Lionel Richie.
I also liked Michael, Kyesha and Brooke but I really forgot them all after David Cook's performance!
-
David Cook rocked tonight!!! I enjoyed Kristy Lee's "God Bless the USA".
I love Chikezie, but he might be leaving, or Jason...I don't know. Recorded the show tonight, and it was too late to vote :-<
We'll find out tomorrow!
Aurora
-
Michael and David C. WOW ! ! ! !
-
There are sooooooo many talented singers this year. But David Cook was outstanding! I still like David A, Michael and Syesha. It's really hard to pick one to go. I hope it's not Jason or Chikezie yet.
Randy was unusually negative tonight.
-
Okay girls... I am running late w/ my comments;
Last week Amanda went... oh well... I would have not picked her to go, but she had to come up w/ a different side to her style, may be a ballad...
Yesterday??? What a disaster for me... VENT TIME... my daughter had her first Spelling B, 3 schools competing against each other, my day started at 6:15 AM and did not end until 9:10 PM when I got home (Tom-Tom -GPS- took me away from home, into the middle of G. knows where...) by then I wasn't hungry any longer, I was angry...!
I missed my show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the other hand, Jade went through the 2nd roundand off I go tonight... it starts at 7PM and G. knows when it w/ end... GRRRRRRRRRR! Let's not forget that she might go through to tomorrow and than she has a basketball game on Friday night too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! And I did not sleep good at all last night! Okay, end of vent!
So, I only saw David Cook for 30 seconds singing, which OMG, he blew my socks off.
The recap...
David Archuleta did good,
Jason Castro did his thing,
Kristy Lee Cook, hasn't she done something like that before?!
Eze, I like him as a rocker,
Johns, oh come on dude, start pouring your heart out and connecting w/ the songs G. darn it, you have it in you... or you don't?!?!?!
Ramiele... she still does not do anything for me.
Mercado, same.
Carly, next Ann Wilson, she can sing anything.
Brooke, next Carly Simon, may be she will do good, may be she w/ be forgotten...
Now remember, these are my opinions from just 10 seconds for each person I saw at the very end of the show.
So, who is going home? Because I have no idea...
-
Okay ....just a stab at it.. Not really sure who is going home tonight after last nights performances, BUT from previous weeks I would say it has to be either Ramielle or Kristy, both will be going home soon anyway. Kristy has a nice voice but doesn't seem to know how to use it. Her performances have been very corny. Ramielle on the other hand doesn't seem to have as nice of a voice , but hangs in there with the others....
Jason better pick it up a bit he is becoming too predictable with his songs, they all sound the same. I love his little face but thats only going to get him so far..He might be in the bottom 3 tonight... Or maybe Chikezee..
Seems like we all saw it the same way this week...
Talk to you all tonight after the show,
Hugs KLynn

Back in the days of VHS recorders I could tape shows to watch later. But now with DVD we don't have a playback or taping system. So I'm with you Lilia.
As I said last night, What was with Randy? He mentioned he was "under the weather" like Ramielle, so maybe that was why he was so negative.
I also didn't agree with Simon criticizing David A's song. I liked it, although it wasn't a top performance for him.
Doesn't Jason seem like he belongs to the late 1960's? He has such an easy-going, pleasant attitude and a very happy face. Very pretty smiling eyes. I can just imagine him hanging with Arlo Guthrie!
Brooke has Carly Simon's singing style, but Carly is a phenomenal song writer. Time will tell for Brooke. She's still young.
Carly Smithson is a wonderful singer, but I'm betting she goes home earlier than she should. There's something aloof about her. I don't think she's gathering a big fan club like some of the others.

David Cook was awesome last night ... there was no comparison to any of the other performances in my mind ....
I thought Syeash did a very nice job ... her voice is very powerful
David Archuleta did good, it was a bit boring though ... agreed with Simon that someone else must have picked the song for him
Jason Castro needs to step it up ... he even agreed that he'd probably do better if he practiced a bit more .. he's darling so I don't think he'll be voted off yet
Kristy Lee Cook - this was a much better peformance for her ... the judges said it was a brilliant song choice ... I don't think she's going home yet...
Eze, I like him voice and personality, but didn't love his performance last night
Michael Johns - the judges LOVED his performance but I didn't get it ... I was not thrilled with his rendition ... it was good ... but wasn't anything special to me
Ramiele... ok - she's been sick ... and was surprised she was able to sing - it wasn't a great performance - sick or not sick .. I think she'll be going home
Carly - she's wonderful ... could have picked a better song ... I hope she's not in the bottom again this week ...
Brooke - I really didn't like the performance much - agreed with the judges - it would have been better for her to keep going with the performance of just her and the piano - vs the band joining in.
I think Ramiele will be going home tonight .. unless people gave her the sympathy vote because she'd been sick

David Cook rocked!!! I love the sound of his voice....amazing!!!
-
I am totally willing to admit that David Cook is really doing a good job. I take back the snotty rocker guy comment 100%. He did a great job last night.
He reminds me a lot of Daughtry. Now, as for Ramiele, Ezie, and Kristy....no idea why they made it to the top 10. They are just not "WOW" on the stage. Ezie was adorable with his Beatles performance two weeks ago, but he was boooooring last night. The other two as well.
I thought Carly looked INtense last night, not tense like Simon said. I think she REALLY wants this and has her eyes set on the "prize," but is starting to fall into the shadows a bit.I just freakin' love David A. and Jason Castro. OMG, they are too cute for words. I don't care if they squeak and howl on stage like dogs. Like Simon said last week about Jason, if he heard that performance on the radio, he would've not cared, but Jason sold it with his cuteness. I want them to do well....if not in the competition, then in their own careers. I was like that about Diana DeGarmo a few years ago. I LOVED her. She was too cute for words, too, and really grew into a performer.
I LOVED hottie Aussie's performance. I even re-wound it (blush) and watched it over. That was HIS song!
Totally curious to see who goes home!
Oh-Syesha was good, but she isn't one of my favorites. I agree that she is beautiful and should be on America's Next Top Model next. -
I think Doreen summed it up pretty well. NBN, I have Comcast's version of TIVO so can tape whatever I want but I rarely miss AI. I love David A - he is just too cute but I wasn't wowed by his choice of song last night. David Cook was awesome last night. I think Ramiele will be going home.
Whoops, I loved Daughtry. I'm seeing Bon Jovi in concert next week and Daughtry is the opener for the show....should be a good one.
-
My favorites were Michael Johns and David Cook last night--David A. was always my favorite, but now I think these other 2 guys are surpassing him. (David A. is so sweet, but his songs are so serious all the time). I think it will be either Kristy or Ramiele going home tonight.
-
Forgot to mention---Kimberley Locke (came in 3rd behind Ruben and Clay in Season 3) is performing tonight. I always liked her and can't wait to see how she does tonight.
-
Margo, that should be a Great concert! I like Daughtry but I seriously believe that David Cook is Better than him already!
I also have the Comcast version of TIVO thank goodness or I would miss most of the shows myself! NBN, you should be able to find the performances soon on YouTube if you want to see any of them. You ought to check out David Cook's!
I checked out dialidol.com and was surprised to see their predictions for the bottom five tonight...we shall see! I'd post it but don't want to spoil it for those who don't want to know before the show.
-
The clouds are rolling in so thought I'd come on and see what's happening.
I read an on-line article that Simon's critique of David A.'s song choice was a slam straight to David's father who was sitting in the audience.
Apparently the father is the worst stage dad ever and a pain in the wazoo.
The article also said the father was kicked out of the studio when David was on Star Search.
The father better cool it or he will ruin it for his beautifully talented son.
Simon knew David didn't pick his song. I hadn't even heard of it.
Did anyone else know it from the past?
-
Sahalie, we're getting your clouds now, they weren't there when I went in the gym tonight and they were when I came out later. I was not at all familiar with the song David A. sang last night.
