Totally UNFAIR!

I joined Weight Watchers last week in my continuing struggle to lose weight. I was browsing through their dining out guide and came across Coldstone Creamery products. Wistfully, drooling maybe?, I said outloud, "man, I've never been there, I'd love to go" to which my daughter gave me a very quizzical look, "mom, we DID go there. Grandma took us last summer when she was here helping you after a chemo treatment".
Well, bugger, I have NO recollection of that at all. I think that's totally unfair that I can't remember eating ice cream. I think by rights I should be able to go and have a calorie free experience. What do you think, ladies? :-)
Anyone else have total blank periods of time while undergoing treatment? I feel like I lost all of last summer.

That's too cute! What a horrible thing--your taste buds had a party, and you weren't invited!
I didn't do chemo, but I had cognitive loss while on Tamoxifen. It was scary.

I had some of those days when I went through treatment. But, it seems that I have more of them now that I am on Femara. I always have a camera with me so that I can remember things when I look at the pictures again on the computer. I wish I had kept a journal as I went throughout treatment and recovery.

Oh me! I still have those days! I think worse now than while I was on chemo.

I think you need to revisit the scene of the "crime" and see if that jogs your memory. YUM!
-
AnneW, my taste buds had a party with the Easter candy yesterday and they remembered to invite me this time! :-)
Sherry, I tried journaling during treatment and I just couldn't do it, seemed like one-more-thing on the 'do list' at a time when all I wanted was to sleep. I think I have about ten pages written at several week intervals, then I would have to write catch-up snippets.
gsg, your siggie says it all!

does your daughter remember what you had?
-
Rose, I didn't ask my daughter if she remembered what I ordered. I did, however, ask my mom if she remembered us going and she replied, 'no'.....so does that mean I'm more aligned with my 71 y/o mom re: brain acuity or that my daughter is worse off than the both of us. LOL
-
It is unfair that you went to a great ice cream shop and don't remember going. I'm with GSG - go back to the scene of the crime and try to bring back the taste bud memories. . . Or your daughter could be imagining that you went when you actually didn't go - that icould be a whole 'nother thread.

Hi Terry,
That's sad. I am trying WW for the weight loss as well. Just 3 weeks out of Taxotere and my weight is still bouncing from fluid retention. Loose 4 lbs one day and gain 3 the next. Crazy!!! I am with you on the calorie free experience. I think if I can't taste my DQ Blizzard, it should not have to be counted as my points.
You know, I cannot remember my last chemo. I guess I was so happy it was a blur. I remember announcing it was my last chemo and getting a Taxotere blanket (whoopie!) but other than that, nothing.
I now have to write everything I promise to do down or I forget. I promised my mom I would make a banana pudding for Easter. I forgot! I vaguely remember promising to do that. I can remember calling someone but not remember talking to them. It's called chemo brain and MD Anderson said this is a true dx and not just "stress induced". Chemo, the gift that keeps on giving.
