My name is what my dh used to say to me when we finally met at the end of the day - never failed to make me smile. He died suddenly during the night of 12/05/07. he was my best friend for 45 years.
-
Oh, beergirl......
I smiled as I read your response, then my heart ached for you.
I'm sorry your lost your dh. It's never easy to lose someone.
Love and prayers, Deb
-
Thanks Deb. I do have great kids. My daughter and only grandchild live with me- she is a surg tech and works with my surgeon. My middle child (son) is moving back home - he works at night and wants to be there for me during the day. My oldest (deaf/schizophrenia/bi-polar) will be part of the time. He is very sweet and tenderhearted. He is having surgery on his ankle in April. I really do have good kids.

Beergirl...
Oh, that is just so sad! I am so sorry for your loss!!
Bonnie,
Oops! I forgot... we USED to have A GOLDWING... BEFORE we got the Harley!! I liked the Gold wing just fine, too, because it was very comfortable, but my dh wanted to 'try out' the Harley lifestyle, so we did that for awhile.

Hi,
My screen name is my two cats names put together and then shortened. Tigger and Winnie...Tigwin. Yes, as in Winnie The Pooh. I am a big fan of the bear. Something about that bear always makes me smile.
-
Tigwin, As obvious as that is now that you've explained it, I never would have guessed that one! Isn't that funny?
-
My original screen name was CRC which was my initials now its joykeeperorg cause my mother an I have started a non profit organization called JOY KEEPER hate to sound like a commercial!
-
That was fantastic! I totally looked at your organization, and I think it is fantastic.
Do you need volunteers that aren't necessarily in your state? I'd be thrilled to help.
-
Thank you Thank you Thank you it means a lot from a fellow sis who knows what we are all going thru! Makes me feel like I made the right decision to start something like this!
We are lookin for Joy Keeper Angels its kinda like for a lack of better words big brother big sister program in a way somebody for newly dx women to talk to if they have any question somebody to vent to kinda like here!
Once we get this off the ground more we want to go global so hopefully in the coming years you could get more things to volunteer for
! Or even be a director for a chapter in your state!

Hey, I guess I should clarify my own new name.
I got "Googled" not too long ago, and someone found something I wrote about them (not meant for their eyes). This happened right around the time some other sisters were having some bigger issues with getting "found" here on bc.org, so I decided it's time to change my name.
Everything I could think of had to do with some obviously identifying info about me, so I tried to come up with the most generic name possible, and still a little fun.Whoops! Changed my name!
-
Smith is my maiden name, L for Linda, M for my middle name, E for ME! I've used it for years...
Linda...AKA smithlme!
-
Is that your tatoo? I have a teensy one on my ankle of a music note. Nothing as cool as that one!
-
Yes, I got it three years ago. It's for my sister, who is an 18 year survivor, our other sister and I. Her and I walked in the San Diego Susan G Komen 3 day that year. I now want the T-Shirt that says, "I walked 60 miles and I STILL got Breast Cancer!"
Linda
-
Love it!
I made a t-shirt that says, "I had breast cancer and all I got was this lousy t-shirt." -

Wow. I just read all the posts. Quite interesting.
Candie is actually my nickname. I have had it since birth and always use it, except legally. In 1971, some of my friends and I rented a place down the shore for the summer. It was so great, always special to me...had so much fun. Hence, my name. Most here think I am in my 30's...nope. I am 55.
Great thread,Deb
-
Harley - so do you and your DH ride often? We do a lot of long distance riding. Can't beat the comfort of the Goldwing for long trips. We have actually rode the bike from MI to NC. We visited DEI and Race City a couple of times DH is a big Earnhart/nascar fan.
Beergirl - your name was touching. I am sorry for your loss.
hugs

Bump!
-
Mine is pretty simple...my three daughters are my pride and joy's..they are 24, 20 and 16! I am a proud mom!
-
Mine is both the style name of the wig I wore for much of last year and the name my mother gave to a short story character that was all too obviously me- grrrr. My husband and I use Allyson as a nickname for me- my alter ego. I like having a little privacy here since I have a lot of professional contact with people as a psychologist in my little part of the world. I wouldn't feel as free to talk about various issues that have been part of my bc experience - an episode of depression, sexual issues-if I thought my clients or other people I deal with were reading my posts and recognizing me.
-
I am debbie hettish and hence dhettish. It has been my business e-mail, personal e-mal, yahoo account and everything. I cannot remember anything so i use dhettish for EVERYTHING. If I could change my name, it would SPERO the latin word for hope.
Dum Spiro, Spero....while I breathe I hope. that is the SC state motto where I am from and where I majored in Latin.
Debbie
PS This is fun...I wonder about all the names as well. especially iodine. Ah Hah....now it makes sense. Thanks whoops for starting this thread.
-
winggirl,
Yes, we do ride alot. We went to Sturgis for the rally three times, riding from Maryland to Sturgis!
Now that we have the BMW, and it isn't as comfortable IMO, because there are no armrests, I will have to see how it goes.

I always wondered about these names...What a great way to learn a little about each of you.
I think I picked mine on a very stressed out day that I had NO creative juices flowing. I also wanted to connect to others in my area. I think I would like to change it to something like...EnergizerBunny...It keeps going and going and going. Or "nonpracticingMD" sometime I feel like we have to be one.
I have to say "abadboob" is one of my favorites.
Living in hope,
Flalady
-
Flalady-I think your name is quite creative! You amaze me every time I read a post from you, btw. 7 recurrences?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! You, my dear sister, are a MIRACLE. I'm honored to call you a sister!
-
Thank you Whoops for your kind words.
I wanted to bump your thread again...
Flalady
