Why did you pick your screen name?

Mine is obvious-I used to be a bandteacher, and that is how everyone in the world referred to me. "This is thebandteacher at the High School....." So, I made it my name. I use that name on everything; ebay, two different emails, here, other lists I belong to.....
But, I am curious about others who have names like vanillacupcake, or Ipeefreely (ok, that isn't one I've seen). Why did you choose that name? Tell me your story!
Love and prayers, DebEDIT TO ADD: I just realized my explanation of my screen name is no longer current! I changed it after all the issues of our privacy were being blurted by no-gooders, and I got googled. Then, I decided I didn't like the sound of it, and went to "Whoopsiedoodles" because that is what my son and I say if we screw something up!

Hi Deb, mine is just my name, and the year I was born==not very imaginative !!
-
That's a good question Deb! I think it gives some insight into the person behind the name. I picked mine because, well I am a very petite person, but after I was dx with BC I felt very, very "little." Like a scared little kid. And so..it all seemed to fit togehter. Oh, and my first name starts with "g".

I had been a regular poster on some politics and music boards before BC, where I used a made-up name. This is the first online place where I've used my real first name. I guess I felt it was the first online place where I didn't feel the need to hide, or didn't want to hide.

Love these threads. Years ago, when I first starting surfing, I didn't want to be in the 'place' I was and chose 'wishiwerent' as my online. It was really a 'wishiwerent' here, or in other words, in this town, job and so on. Longer story, but later on, I lost the email when we changed companies and had to become wishiwere, which in essence was the same, as in wishiwere somewhere else!
I think it's started with me ...16 years ago at least?maybe much longer...

Mine...well..my name is Deb and the "rav" is the Hebrew word for rabbi. I'm not a rabbi but in our congregation, I play a role in the prayers and rituals so the congregants, when a rabbi wasn't around, would ask me all the questions about rules, and so on. I became a wannabe rabbi.

My real name is Joy and my dear Grandma's name was Rebecca. She's my angel. And so, JoyRebecca.

I chose my name because it's easy to remember, my real name and state I reside in...I need all the help I can get post-chemo! :-)
-
There was already a Kari so I tacked on my middle name.
I'm on several other sites too but this is the only one I use my real name and pic!
-
I love to quilt (lvtwoqlt) and it is my email account also. When I first signed up, I was not sure if I wanted my 'real' name out there, so I chose a hobby.

I put my name together years ago when I was setting up my first email account...
J is the initial to my first name, P=last name, Ann=middle name, 39=the age I was when I set up my account...put together ='s jpann39....so WA LA, there is how I got my screen name

This is an interesting and fun thread. Thanks for starting it. I picked my name because my friends alway call me wacky jackie. I like to laugh a lot and try to see the best side of every situation. I guess they think that makes me wacky, but it's how I get through a lot of tough situations!
Hugs, Jackie

Umm...It's on my birth certificate, lol! Wasn't feeling particularly creative the day I signed up...
-
These are great! And, Madalyn, you have a very creative avatar!
It's interesting to see who uses their real names and who doesn't. I also started out with the intent of just being thebandteacher, but when I did my first few posts, and realized I was immediately part of the "family," I had no trouble signing off as Deb
Love and prayers, Deb

It's what my SO calls me. When I first joined here on 03/17/07 I was Angel42 ... my nickname and age. I dropped the number recently as I no longer liked seeing the 42, being the age when I was dx'd. It was too depressing to me.

A very dear friend of mine decided that I was "grace" and not my real name. When I signed up on the board, grace & bygrace was taken so I added the 1. I often feel that grace suits me better but I'll never really change my name because to everyone else close to me I am Cynthia.

My name for this site isn't very imaginative either. Cathy is my real first name and G is the first letter of my last name. I never felt the need to hide my personal data here. But, I do have other account names for other sites.

I was re-reading F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Tender is the Night".
Breast cancer has made me feel more vulnerable, at the same time as making me recognize the need to be strong against it.
So, in the midst of a long night, wondering whether to join this board, I decided yes, and played with the book title modifying it to TenderIsOurMight. We're vulnerable yet strong together.
Thanks for asking. -
Yay, Tender!!! I was hoping you'd be one of the sisters to respond!
Hey Tender, I have a medical ?? to ask you regarding pain-if I have a weird pain in my left leg that hurts if I press on it, or I feel pain/discomfort in that tiny area when I walk, is that a blood clot? I have to press on it or walk a certain way to feel that pain. I have gotten all the tests lately to determine my issues re: pain and nothing has come up regarding my leg.
Feel free to pm me that one so we don't deter from the nature of the thread!
Love and prayers, Deb -
Hazel is my first name and it's had nut added to it over the years by friends so I just went with it here, too.

Sige is an ancient goddess of silence...it has been my computer nick ever since I got a computer many, many years ago.
I thought it was appropriate as we all talk and talk and talk on here and all you hear is silence.
My real name is Peggy though, most know that

These are so cool. It is like a whole new way to get to know everyone.

There was a comic strip called Lil' Iodine, starring a red headed girl who was a female Dennis the Menace, always in trouble.
My dad always called me Iodine, even to the point that his friends had no idea that my real name was Dorothy Ray.
I've used it for a handle starting back in the CB radio days cause you don't find many Iodines.
-
I guess mine is pretty self-explanatory. . .
-
I love this idea!!! This is awesome!
Wish I had a cool story. I don't though obviously. My screen name is my real name without a space in between. lol. This is the first website I've been to for conversations. It never even accured to me to pick a screen name.
I love reading about y'alls though. Too fun. If I had it to do over again I would choose.......
.......CBFan. (Cowboys fan!!) ; - )
Thanks for the fun thread.
Hugs, Traci
ps Maybe I should change it....???
-
LOL! Onebadboob!!! That was funny...."pretty self-explanatory" lmao!!
-
Traci, it's too late, we know who you are and where you live

Ha! Onebadboob!
I just got another idea-I'm starting an avatar thread, too. I love to see those and wonder those stories as well!
