WHAT is bootface?  :-)  I am new here and trying to catch up with some of the posts, but I feel a bit lost.  The support here is really quite special.  JL

Hey Shirl!   It isn't your searches that are saved, it's the things that are the same every time you visit a site, like the background, format, etc. That way the basics are already there and your computer only has to gather what's new on that site. It's for your convenience and is very useful if you have a slow connection. With a broadband connection, you don't really need it.

To keep it under control, go to the same place you did to delete it. Next to the delete button is a settings button. Change the size to 8mb (smallest allowed). Then every few months, delete the cache.

And yes, the Towhee is a bird. It is very shy, looks a lot like a robin, and I just have an affinity for it. We have lots of them around here. My avatar is one.

jennylynn, welcome! This is a special group. Bootface is the name of the ugly thing we have shared...cancer. I can't remember where it started, but it's a great way to gain control over it. Sue often boils it.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a wig today. I'll be in this stage of chemo for nine weeks (3 chemos, once every three weeks), then surgery, then a second round of 3 chemos once every three weeks. Sounds doable with that break. But it will mean about six months or more of no real hair (except the bit that will grow back while I recuperate from the surgery...just in time to be swept away by the second chemo).

It's a great looking wig. I will look like I am finally keeping up with the color, cut, and styling, LOL.  When my hair starts to go in about a week, I'll go down for the final cut (putting in bangs for me) and fit. He'll shave the rest of my hair off, too. A lovely little shop in Westwood, NJ.

Hi everyone!  Sue, I'm so glad to hear that you slept--even if you did arrive late for work.  Have a wonderful evening and get to bed at a decent hour tonight, okay???  Love you, sweetie!

Isn't it a beautiful day today, Judie?  Why can't it stay like this through tomorrow?  I'm not looking forward to hunting eggs in the rain.  Ick!!!

I admire you ladies who can wear your wigs.  I spent over $500 on the two of mine and wore them less than a dozen times.  They were so itchy and hot!  Even with my wig liner, they were very uncomfortable.  I've worn hats and doo rags the whole time.

It sounds like you're tolerating your chemo really well, Nancy.  I forgot what your chemo cocktail is.  Will you be on the same regimen after your surgery?  Hang in there--I can already tell that you'll do great throughout every phase.

Welcome, Jenny!  We're a great group.  I think I speak for everyone when I say, "the more the merrier".  We'd love for you to join us.

Love to you all--Lisa, Mel (even though you won't see this until you get back), Jane, Jule, Shirlann, AE, Lucy, Ulla, Sheila, Wren, Mia, and anyone I may have forgotten.

Hugs and a happy Easter to you all,

    Karen

Hi Karen, I'm on TAC now, and it looks like it will be the same afterwards, unless something comes up in the surgical pathology report that changes things. The only strange se's so far are hiccups whenever I eat a piece of bread, and I'm a bit constipated, but things seem to be moving along, albeit slowly, in that area.  I've even been cooking dinner for the family the last couple of nights after a nice two hour afternoon nap.

Less spacey tonight. Whatever was causing that has seemed to worn off.

I'm looking forward to a nice holiday dinner tomorrow at my brother's. It will be an early dinner (2 PM) so I will not have to stay late, can come home and jump into bed an go to work on Monday.

I like the look of the wig a lot, but you know, I don't know if I will be able to tolerate it for a full day. Maybe I'll just wear it while I commute on my bus, and then switch to something more comfortable while I'm in my office. Everyone in my office knows of my illness, so it not like I need to hide anything there, but I don't think I want to advertise it on the streets and subways of NYC. Too many crazies around that might get personal.

Well, while my head is clear I should get my monthly report done for my boss. It's due Monday and I've put it off because my mind was so distracted before the chemo, and then fuzzy afterwards. I begged off it last month because I was going through all my tests and diagnosis. Thankfully, things are slow and there's not much to say.

    Happy Easter and Happy Spring!

HAPPY EASTER!! To all our dear sisters and friends on this site. WOW, we have such a nice crowd. Everyone is so precious to me.

I wish I could add a lovely Easter Lily or a bunny, but, I am lucky I can WRITE thanks to dear Towhee, lovely bird, lovely lady.

I am seriously packing now. So many books, I read, read, read. It is nice, everytime I look up, it is NOT at something I should be doing. Best reason of all for a vacation.

I can e-mail on the ship, so if I can figure out how to get the pix on, or one or two, I will.

    Love you all, Shirlann

Such sweet pictures from lovely ladies. I adore them! I send Easter greetings to all. May this day see the beginning of a renewed life of health and joy for the deserving sisters who come here.

But, being the evil thing I am, I just can't help myself. It's been around for a long time, but is still my favorite Easter giggle.

Oh Sue, honey, don't feel bad about feeling sad. This is a sad thing we have all been through and are going through. It is, no two ways about it. It is perfectly natural and to be expected, ESPECIALLY on holidays when it seems to be expected that we are all so happy and we aren't. So always tell us, we will boost each other up when we need a kind shoulder. You are loved, sweet Sue, and all this love and prayers are flying through the air, straight to your heart.

Karen, darling girl, thank you so much for the cute Easter bunny, that was so nice!

We will all be here, for all the gals in treatment, to get through this nasty journey.

Hugs, and love and bunny kisses, Shirlann

    Hi everyone,

I'm having constipation problem. I don't want to get into a habit of using the laxitives. Anyone have any suggestions for setting my system right again? Please tell me that this is a just-after-chemo problem and will not last the full three weeks until my next dose, UGH.

Take the laxatives - its a temporary problem.  Try to drink lots of water too.

    It gets better!!!

    Hang in there!!!

    Nancy,

I didnt have chemo so dont know if this works or not but a lady that I went through radiation treatments with said that someone told her to drink a cup of hot water just before bed each evening...said just plain hot water, like you would a cup of tea...sip it until you have drank the cup...my grandmother also did this but I never knew why...Im sorry you are so uncomfortable and will hope with you that this is only a short experience and DOES not last until your next treatment!!!!

Sue-its ok to be sad, we are all sad and we are all here to help chase your saddness away...Im glad you told us how you feel....its important for you to be able to tell someone and not keep it inside....just saying it can help alot.....

    Hugs

    Jule

Nancy, I had TAC for my first two round of chemo, and I would be constipated for about three days and then went to the other extreme for a few days as well.  Miralax is a wonderful product, and helped a lot with the constipation.

Hope all you lovely ladies had a beautiful holiday!

    Love and hugs,

    Karen

Nancy, I drank tons of water.  Didn't help.  Plus none of the over-the-counter laxatives worked for me while on chemo.  An older woman from the "old country" told me to drink 1 to 2 TBS of molasses stirred into a small glass of warm water before bedtime.  It tasted horrible but did the job.

I've read on some websites to use 1/3 cup of molasses.

Sue, I do hope you are feeling happier today.  Please get some rest.  I think your sadness partly comes from you wearing yourself down. You are like the energizer bunny...YOU DON"T STOP!! I hope you had an enjoyable relaxing EASTER with your little men!!

Thanks for all of the beautiful and funny Easter wishes. Jules, I love that one too..with the chocolate bunnies!! haha.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter with their families.  Mine was very nice, very relaxing.

I am off to get some much needed cleaning done at my house.  Now that I am able to do everything again...woohoo!!

Nancy...hope the constipation is getting better.

Where is Ulla?? We have not seen her in quite some time!  How about Lucy?? I do wish they would check in.

I am sure our Melody is having a great visit with her Mother!!  So happy for her!

I will check in with all of you later.
