Hi Girls!!!

OK....my eyes are open now!  I was so rummy last night I almost couldn't think. 

Thanks for all the B9B9 chants and prayers.  One thing that raised my hopes was the conversation with my Onc about all the things it could be that are NOT cancer.  We talked about sarchoidosis (sp?), a possible inflammatory process like RA, or some type of immune suppression process.  None of that sounds like fun, but hell, none of them are cancer!

Jas - The other docs thought of doing the FNA test, but the node was in such a hard place to get too, they didn't think they could safely reach it.  This Rad doc said if I was willing to try, he was too.  By the time they got me in a position that he could get a needle behind my collar bone without hitting either of the big blood vessels I was laying on a table with my feet higher than my head, one shoulder on a wedge pillow, my head turned as far as it could go in the opposite direction and my chin pointed at the ceiling....Then, after taking almost an hour to get me in position, I had to stay in that position until the used the ultrasound to watch while they stuck 6 different needles in the node to gather cells.  All in all it took over an hour and a half.  I have to take it easy for a day or so in case the nicked one of those veins.  If they did I may bet a really big bruise, but so far, it looks fine. 

SO....now we wait....again....

I'm going to try and stay busy and not think about it.....LOL,,,,at least it sounds good J

Hey Shokk -

I remembered you said you had sarcoidosis (next time I get something funky, I would like a disease that is easy to SPELL....sheesh)  They are not saying I have it yet, but that some of my weird symptoms could be explained by sarcoidosis.  If the biopsy comes back clean (please God!) then we will explore further to see what might be causing all these symptoms.  I am interested that your doc said the cancer and sarchoid are not related.  My Onc said that there is some thought that all of the toxic treatment we get may start the process in people who are already pre-disposed to it.  She also said that it might just be that after cancer we get out lymph system checked more than the general public....

By the way, I seem to hear an echo in here.....everyono OK??

Deb I think that may be true but I have had symptoms of sarcoid for twenty years.......I have had a cough for so long I was talking to the ex about it and when my daughters and I were cleaning up in the summer we came across my oldest daughters (she is 20 now) baby shower tape and I was coughing then........basically sarcoid is arthritis of the lymph nods or inflammation of the lymph nods...and it has caused me some pain.......especially in the neck....and even in the lungs when I am having an "episiode"........I will cough for about a month and then go into "remission" for about 5 months......but I think I remembered you said that they had seen this in November and that it is smaller now and when you said that it made me think at the time it might be sarcoid because that is exactly how it behaves.......the lymph nods are always enlarging and then shrinking........it's scary because of course we as cancer survivors and now as living with sarcoid I always default to cancer first.......keeping you in my prayers and I hate to say this but I am chanting "sarcoid"............Shokk

Thats the weird thing about sarcoid is it can go into remission and know one really knows why........there are different stages of it just like cancer and for some reason mine has always been active and is progressing.......but it progresses very slowly and I am still more concern about cancer then I am about the sarcoid.......mine was discovered at the time of bc dx when I had all my scans.....of course when you were dx with bc and you had not had your cough since moving to Alaska......you could have been in complete remission and the nods in your lungs would not have lite up.........but you know Deb we are both triple neg, both have 2 daughters both had/are married...........umh.......anyway get some rest.........Shokk.....oh and have you been running a low grade fever????........that's another side effect of activated sarcoid........
