Amy...I think you're right on with that thinking. I know alot of str8 guys who watch The L Word religiously and get off on all of the sex scenes. And guys are all about girls wrestling.

I made an error in my earlier post when I questioned Shane's being hot for who-I-called Nicki, but is really Phyllis' daughter, Molly. I guess I missed when that all started..?

Amy, I am with you about that Turkish oil - but did you see Molly light up like a firefly when she saw the girls going at it.

I did see Molly lighting up at the wrestling. Sunday's episode is opposite the oscars... I might have to do some channel flipping.

I'm not an Oscar fan so I won't have to worry about that. I have a feeling that as the show goes on Molly is going to start to develop feelings for Shane. Little Shane is too wild and hot - I just love her character.

I think Shane is hot-- or rather the actress who plays her is. I don't know many lesbians who try to go after straight women and I don't like the implication-- I probably take the show too seriously-- I just find there are too many people who have stereotypical ideas about gays (we recruit etc.) and hate to see it shown on one of the few shows with lesbian characters.

How great was the trial???? OMG Alice rocks as does Tasha. The irony of Kelli McGillis playing the prosecutor--especially after just coming out herself.

Arlene is up to no good- I can't wait to see where that leads.

I wish Bette and Jodi would break up already- Jodi is so unfair to Bette-- so controlling and bossy. I hope she catches Bette and Tina--that would be dramatic.

I thought the trial wasn't up to parr - I was expecting something bigger - something that would actually show how the system works.

Do you mean Adele - she wants to be Jenny and that is just FREAKY. I wonder what her past is like - what dark secrets are in her past.

I hope this whole Bette and Jodi thing comes to some conclusion. I think that Jodi is way too bossy and she was complaining that Bette was controlling.

What about that kiss between Shane and Molly - told you Molly has the hots for Shane but is "playing" hard to get ...you know the kind "I'm straight but I still wanna get with you."

What about the end of the trial Pepper and the end of the episode? I guess that's the part I was talking about.

I don't know why I keep calling Adele Arleen.  I've made that mistake before.

I agree that Jodi is too bossy and I don't think Bette is controlling even though Jodi thinks so. I wonder if being deaf has made Jodi feel that she has to be more controlling to make up for feeling out of control in in Bette's hearing world.

Maybe I'm confused-- but I thought Molly didn't like the kiss and that's why she wanted to go home right afterwards? Do you think she wanted to go home because she did like it and that surprised and confused her?

I think Molly wanted to go home because she liked the kiss and got scared - seen this senario many times before instraigth women.

I just wanted to see the trial extended - maybe include what her peers thought, what the ramifications of her career would turn out to be. I come from a Military family and I have seen what they are like just kind of disappointed thats all.

They could have used this forum to educated others - I felt this was too close to the bc ending of Dana. Okay the world may not be up to parr with BC but having her die instead of survive - I thought was sending the wrong message to women everywhere. What about all those women that watch the show and are potential bc women. The message that came across was: if I get bc I willdie.

    Just my opinion....

I agree with you about the show being a gateway for information-- I wish the show was a little more responsible in that way. There's a good article on after ellen about how the entertainment industry does lesbian mothers a disservice through its portrayal. I think that's probably true for most things, like breast cancer or heart disease or whatever.

Well, I FINALLY watched the episode late last night after teaching. I was beat and had my scans this morning, but just couldn't let another day go by without my L Word "fix"!

I think that Molly freaked out from the kiss and is confused about her feelings. It would be kind of dumb for them to have her get hot for Shane and then instantly back out. On the other hand, maybe Shane will become obsessed because she's not used to rejection and she'll become all lovesick over her and all. Wouldn't that be awful?!

The trial was great though I, too, would have liked them to have dragged it out a bit longer. And being naive, I need to clarify with you all....are we to understand that the Kelly M. character was really a closet lesbian and that Alice threatened to out her if she didn't back off Tasha? And then, of course, the threat was unnecessary since Tasha came clean....and proudly! How cool was that? I'm sooooooo happy that they're back together and have that monkey off their backs!

Now as for Nicki....what a whiny baby, huh? And Jenny is just blind! Can't she see that Adele is trying to usurp her power and affection? That was so pathetic how she just waited like a child outside of the party! Ugh! I actually might almost start feeling sorry for her!

How many more episodes...does anyone know?

That was my understanding Marin, did you see how she looked over the naked woman in the locker room?  The implication could also have been that Alice would threaten to out the Kelli McGillis character even if she was straight and drag her through the mud to see what it felt like.

    5 more episodes.

Did you pick up on that Nicki is a minor??? I guess she's 16 or 17 but that makes Jenny even lower in my book.

    glad to see you sige--

I forgot-- did anyone think the last scene when Tasha picked Alice up and whirled her around was reminiscent of An Officer and a Gentleman? That scene has got to be one of my all time favorites.

I thought that Nicki was 20 yrs old. If she is only a teenager that would explain why she cries alot and acts like a child...

It was kinda Officer/Gentleman-esk. Maybe it will work out for them in the end.

Shane...Shane...Shane.... playing with fire with that girl. I miss the ole Shane - wild as a buck - she needs to come back with that wild gusto so that I can live vicariously through her!

Yeah, I think Shane has become too touchy-feely sensitive. I like her as a hardass horny babe.

I'm so glad you suggested that, Amy! I felt like I'd seen that scene before, but knew I hadn't....it was reminiscent of An Officer and a Gentleman! I love that movie too!

    5 more episodes...yay! I was thinking only a few.

Pepper I thought I heard the Nicki's agent say to Jenny that it would be a scandal if they found out the underaged Nicki was sleeping with Jenny-- perhaps I heard wrong though.

Bette, Bette, Bette--- next time you tell Jodi you love Tina try doing it so she can see what you're saying. Just do it.

The more I see Bette and Jodi together, the more I don't like the pairing. I would not like it one bit if my gf got on top of me like that and didn't listen when I told her I wasn't in the mood. Sure breaking up with someone is unpleasant, but come on it's a lot kinder than cheating. Bette doesn't want to hurt Jodi? It's a lot less hurtful to be broken up with than to be cheated on.

Maybe I'm old fashioned or just plain old, but I never refer to sex or making love as the f*cking. I use f*ck to be a stronger form of sh*t.

Too much of the show is devoted to Les Girls -- the only part of that I'm interested in is Adele (I got her name right this time, Pepper).

So next week is the big race. I have mixed feelings, glad they're doing something, but also hoping it's only a small part of the show unless it feeds in well with the story line.

For the love of God, explain this thread to me.   I have seen the L Word advertised but only remember it vaguely.  I thought it stood for L "love"  Is it L "lesbian"?

Yes Pam it is for Lesbian. The show centers around a group of strong women who are not afraid to be "Out and Proud."

Amy I agree Bette cut the bullshit and get to the point. Life is too short to screw around. I don't believe in affairs - you are either devote to one person or the other!

I don't like to refer to my intimate relationship with my husband as "F" too vulger a word for me.

What was with the "Mafia" crap - is LA not big enough for the 2 of them and what about the other women's bar in the area?

I hope the race is not some wierd crying-fest. I hope they make it as realistice as possible and remember those that have passed on with dignity, love and courage.

Here's what I can't seem to get straight (pun?) in my head....Max was Myra, so he was first a girl, Right? Then s/he acknowledged her/his maleness and became a transguy. As Myra, s/he was a lesbian, attracted to girls, and after transitioning, s/he still seemed attracted to women (Jenny, the bosses daughter, and his current girl- can't recall her name). But now he's making it with Jodi's gay translator who's a guy! Undecided This is pretty confusing to me. Does anyone have insight? Is this supposed to be a fairly isolated situation where a transguy is attracted to both sexes or do you know it to be somewhat typical for that to be the case? I'll say this as a straight woman....I think the translater is hot, so maybe anyone would do him?

As for Bette and Jodi, this can only have a bad outcome since Bette clearly is always chickening out on telling Jodi she loves Tina. What's her freakin' problem?

The Adele thing is gonna blow soon enough or they'll have that as a teaser in the last episode. Very "single white female" as Amy has pointed out. It's too insane, that whole thing.

I'm so excited that Alice and Tasha are happy...how long can we expect it to last?

And Shane & Molly...very cute, I think. But Mom is pissed, huh? And having her own love issues...soon she'll be making puppy dog eyes at Joyce, me thinks!

    Oh, the intrigue! Wink

Told you that Molly was going to jump in the sack with Shane....saw that coming a mile-away. What really pissed me off was the way Molly described Shane to Phylis - Shane is simple and uneducated. Does Molly think she is too good for Shane?

Some of trans that I have meet and worked with tell me that after experiencing the change they usually are attracted to the same-sex.

Tasha and Alice make a cute couple - let's hope this last. I really like Tasha - she is so hot!

I believe that Max is biologically a female, but identifies as a male. I think he decided not to have the surgery a few episodes ago. I was a little confused about Max too, since he's postop and not sure he wants to have the surgery I don't understand the attraction to the interpreter. Does the interpretter know that Max is biologically a female without the male parts? That attraction confuses me even more. There is no way I would be attracted to a transexual, particularly not a preop one.

As for Phyllis's reaction to catching Molly in bed with Shane, no matter how open minded a parent may be, I doubt they would have a positive reaction to finding their daughter in bed with one of their friends LOL. I too was pissed what Molly said about Shane.  If she had such little respect for Shane, why sleep with her. I'm a bit of an intellectual/education snob, but I don't talk or think about people the way Molly does.

Pamfenton- you made my morning thinking the L word was  'love'

Amy...If I recall correctly, the interpreter and Max have already hooked up. It might have been at the Planet? And it was dark or something, but the interp came over and told the girls he had had a great hook-up, pointed Max out and one of them (Alice?) told him that Max was a transguy. So I'm pretty sure he knows.

Molly's "defense" of Shane to Phyllis seemed pretty naive and incongruent to me. She was trying to argue that her mother was being a snob, but was actually agreeing with her. Seems like a classic case of rebellion to me and if Shane hangs in there, she may actually get hurt. As the tables turn.....
