FIRST NEW ENGLAND STATES Get Together (2008)
So, we have a bunch of girls that live "up here".

How's about an early Spring Get Together? (As in when the weather is way better for traveling, so I hope!).
I was thinking we could get together in Hartford, CT. I work there and finding a nice place w/ food and drinks is a no brainier! It is an hour away from my house in MA; and if you are worried about traveling, I have gone as far as driving between 45m. and up to 2 and 1/2 hours if not more.
Any one aboard on this one? (And off course, any surrounding states are more than welcome to join us).
Look forward to hear from you.

On my very first Get Together back in December 2004 in New York City (and through the BC.Org), we did a fun "Chinese Grab Bag"; I would like to suggest that we do the same because it was a lot of fun, everyone kept on stealing my gift!! If that is okay with you girls, the max. to spend would be $10/$15.
-
Found it! I'm in, and Hartford is fine. Really, anywhere within a 1 1/2 hour radius or so is fine. I'm between Worcester and Boston, and right off the Pike and 495.
Have a great weekend!
-
We would love to go....where are you thinking of eating?? There's lots of great places...looking forward to it

Love Marisa
-
Well, I was thinking, since MA is stuck in the middle of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut and Rhode Island, I can look for some nice restaurant in Springfield, MA to accommodate our group.
Actually, I have several restaurants in mind that come w/ free parking and are not far at all from Route 91N/S.So, I guess as soon as we narrow down the place (State), we aim for the date and other activities that w/ take place at our Get Together.
-
I would love to get together.
I'm in western mass so springfield or hartford would be great.
donna
-
I'm in Western Mass. about 20 minutes north of Springfield. Hartford would work for me too. I'm in! Donna, looks like we live only a few miles from each other.
-
Hey Lynn-
Howdy Neighbor!
Donna
-
Oh Boy, all I need to do is look
at that Map..
You know darn well, Maine is My fav state
and MASS.. lived in Conn.
Anyway I could be there
would go, but do not think so
will tell you if I can
At least take px and tell me about it

cmb35, Emelee26, florencedonna, Lynn12, drw, (Sierra, nice seeing you again, I miss you):
I think that Springfield, MA would be a wonderful and easy place for us to get together.
Let me know what you think about this restaurant:
For about $20 to $25 we can have a nice lunch (soft drink, lunch, dessert and tip included).
This place is located right at the Basketball Hall of Fame, so if you are traveling with your significant other(s) they can go the BHF and enjoy themselves while we get to know eachother and trade "war" stories.
drw: let me see what we can come up with as to traveling arrangements for you.
PS: Now that we have a place, lets work on a date for the Spring, preferably a Saturday or Sunday.
I was thinking may be mid April (I am not available at the end) or beginning of May. What do you girls think?
-
thanks nbn. even if i don't make it, it would be nice to chat with other women in ma.
-
sounds fun.
mid april, early may are both good.
donna
-
I'm having my stage II surgery on April 17th, before that or early May sounds good to me!
-
Okay girls, this is beginning to shape up.
Here are some dates, all saturdays:
April 5 or 12;
May 3 or 10;
Attending: Please direct yourself to the very first post of this thread; that is where I will keep all updated information regarding our get together. Thanks.
-
Hello, I'm also in MA, about an hour and a half from Springfield, I think. (Near Route 2/495.) I am probably going to be starting chemo in late March, so I have no idea how I'm going to be feeling in April/May, but if I'm up to it then I might be able to join you. I'm a single mom with an almost-7-year-old, so it would also depend on whether or not my son is with his father that weekend. Thanks!
Lauren

nbn-it looks like my boyfriend will give me a ride up there depending on the date.
dianne -
Hi, I may be able to attend depending on the date. I live near Boston, I often read the posts on this site but don't post a lot myself.
-
So... what works best for you girls, early-mid April or May?
Please see my edited post up above.
Thanks,
Lilia
PS: Please direct yourself to the very first post; that is where I w/ keep all updates regarding our get together. Thanks.
-
lilia-either works for me.
dianne -
Lilia, all those dates are fine with me as well.
-
Thank you Lynn12 for directing me here. I live in Amherst, MA but work in Eastern MA. Of course Springfield works perfectly for me. I would love to meet some fellow New Englanders!
I can do any week but the week of April 12-19, will be at a conference in California. (so April 12 no good). Otherwise, all ok.
My online support group here (Feb 07 chemo cruisers) are meeting in Florida next week. This is so exciting- to meet people who have had similar experiences. Thanks so much for doing this, Lilia.Regards.
-
Hello everyone: please direct yourself to the very first post of this thread. I will keep all the updates on that particular post; we have a date and place. Please drop me a PM with your phone nos. Like this I can keep a better count of everyone who is coming.
Thank you so very much.
-
Fabulous, thanks for putting this together! I'll pm you my phone #.

dianne -
Wow, so many of us so close! I'm in Ashfield. Would love to come and am planning on it unless there's something else that day that I'm already committed to but don't remember..... Understand?
Jorf
-
jorf-where's ashfield?
dianne -
Hi Dianne: I don't know if Jorf answered you but Ashfield is in the Berkshire foothills. The town was once a center of the peppermint industry.
Looking forward to see you girls at our Get Together.
Luv,
-
