Dallas is beautiful - I have a grey cat, also.  And a black & white.  All three of them were rescue kitties.  Those are the best kind.

Anne, you should totally send that to the Ellen DeGeneres show-I am an Ellen addict, and she would be all over that one.

I love it!  I love the look on her little face as if to say, "Look at me, aren't I pretty and dainty?"  It just goes right with your beautifully set table (sometimes, we use real dishes....that's as far as ours goes....it all went downhill once we hit toddler stage with Daniel!).

Thank you for showing that!!   I am looking for Rosie pics now, and can't find the one I set aside to scan.....it's cute if I can relocate it!!!

Well, these don't show you my Rosie O'Donnell's adorable little face, but it does show you when she is all curled up as tight as can be as though it were only 1 degree in the house.  This was taken during my bilateral recovery in June, btw!

She hates it when I find her this way because I HAVE to pick her up then.  I love to burrow my face in her warmth!

Rosie is so cute!!!  My Black & White sleeps like that too. Maybe I will send the picture to Ellen. I don't know, though, she's pretty full of herself now and if her picture ended up on Ellen, there would be no living with her.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, back to the subject matter - it's so nice to learn why people chose their screen names because you learn about them, too.

Sorry, I have only been on the humor boards (to sharpen the old chemo brain) recently and have missed a lot of new threads.  We are busy trying to pack up to move and time has gotten away from me.

My name, Newter, is the nickname of a pregnant stray cat I brought home from visiting a friend at Ohio State.  Her real name was Helen and she was 19 years old when we had to put her to sleep, one week before I started chemo.  I also called her The Newt and Newtlyn.  Silly, I know but she was an awesome pet. I do not have a picture to submit because everything is packed up.  She was a long, lean tiger stripe.

My hubby gave me that name,

he said I was the Evilest of all evil elfs..

Hell..... I told him that HE created the evil elf monster

    I'm 5' 3" and shrinking...

That was my bike name and it's stayed with me through the years

Awww.... all those kittie pics are just SO CUTE!!!   I have two very special cats, Spike, who is a black and white tuxedo cat, and who was nearly a feral cat, since his Mom lived with a feral colony, and Thor, who is an all black Norwegian Forest cat.  We also got him from the same shelter where we got Spike... they were cellmates together!

Oh, and my screen name --- Harley  was my login for all sites, so I wouldn't forget... my memory has never been too good...and we had a Harley motorcycle.  Someone else also had HARLEY, so I added 44 later, my age.   But, also, my friend who I used to work with has a friend named...HARLEY, who had bc 17 years, and seemed to survive it, only to get mets to the bones in the last year of her fight.  She passed away  in December 2006, I believe.  My friend tells me that Harley is watching over me, and I believe that she is.  So, even though we NOW have a BMW motorcycle, and no more Harley, it is still my login....  in honor of our friend, Harley.

My is boring. Just my initals. I had only been on one web site like this before so I didn't have a clue what to use. BMD just seemed really anonomous. Now everyone has seen pictures of me and my kids and my dog and I have met many ladies from here in person so BMD seems kind of dopey.

We did this thread before, but I can't remember what the answers were... LOL, you know, chemo brain here, still!

Mine started as Lilia.  I was so shocked when I got diagnosed that nothing popped in my head besides my real name...

...than one day, and b/c of my humor, and my hanging out on the Humor thread, I changed it to NaughtybyNature.  At that time, JulieP from Florida (remember her?) thought that someone had hijacked my name... LOL!

And than when I decided to re-register myself here, they would not let me use NaughtybyNature, therefore I had to go w/ NbN!  Voila, my "alias" history!

Mine is just an old email name. My last name with the first two initials of my first name. It doesn't work well, though, 'cause everyone thinks I live in Southern California!

Southern California (LA) for sure!  LOL Cool  Especially since you and I are so fortunate to live in Southern OREGON!  Best, Ruth

This is a fun thread! Mine is just my initials, but my maiden name initials. I changed my name when I got married, but not my initials (I'm weird, what can I say?) In any event, I'm divorced, still have my ex-'s last name (I too wish now I had changed it back.)  The 35 is because I turned 35 in Oct, my mom died quite suddenly in Nov, and my husband left me in Dec. It was a really tough year for me, but I survived it, and for some reason, it just reminds me how strong I can be when I need to be. (I'm 44 now.)

Have you ever seen an otter, in person?

Most people think of sea otters when they see the word, "otter".  They're so cute, lying there on their backs, smashing mollusks with rocks to get at the tasty insides.

A river otter is what I was thinking of.  That's what we have around here (inland southeastern U.S.).  They are just as cute and comical as sea otters, but it's harder to get a good look at them.  Mostly we see them only on the coldest, frostiest days of the year.  Look out the kitchen window on a cold morning, and there they'll be--scampering up the bank of the pond, tucking in their paws, and sliding head-first down the bank and into the water.  They'll roll and splash around for awhile, then chase each other back up the bank to do it all over again.  They do this as a whole family--adults and offspring together.

The closest I've been to a river otter was one day when I was out walking across the pond dam.  I heard a rustling in the tall grass on the downhill side of the dam, and suddenly I was looking straight at a baby (not even half-grown) river otter.  It was nose-down, snuffing through the grass, headed right toward me--and totally oblivious to the fact that I was maybe 3 feet away.

But, MOMMA otter was right behind baby otter, and she gave out a chirp or something when she saw me.  The baby otter stopped in its tracks, flipped around 180 degrees in mid-air, and dashed back the other direction....running head-first into momma otter. She chirred at him, nuzzled him to hurry him up, and she and baby otter and another baby otter behind her, hustled on down the bank and back into the woods.

There is something so endearing about a wild animal that enjoys life as much as otters do.  We could all take lessons from them.

Otter, they have a river otter habitat at the NC Zoo in Asheboro and they are sooooo much fun to watch. The habitat has a glass front and part of the 'pond' is open to the glass and you can watch them in the water as well as going down the water slide and hiding in the 'woods'

DH and I ride a GoldWing motorcycle. I'm the girl that rides behind him. I had to re-register on this site when they made the upgrades so the 2 was added so I would not lose WingGirl. I'd rather be riding a Harley and have that for a screen name but DD college expense ended that dream.

The wanna be Harley girl alias WingGirl.

My nickame is BonBon which I also considered for screen name but WG over ruled.

    Bonnie,

I used Harley... well, I posted earlier with my explanation...

But, my dh traded in the Harley for a BMW, so now I don't want to change my name...

I also ride on the back!
