Why did you pick your screen name?

Deb,
thanks for asking, I am a little nervous about the bone spot, even though it's stable...I hate surprise "in retrospects"....
God Bless

When I first started using a comp I was a florist for 25 yrs. So to remember my login I picked a flower....

I have collected Blue Willow china for many years, since I was in junior high school, and 5/27 is my birthdate. I have to keep things simple and use this name for lots of user IDs. I also have the same password for everything-- can't risk changing stuff around any more, but I can't blame that on chemo brain-- I've always been forgetful!
Take care, all!

MANY years ago I went to a rural parade and sitting on the back of a convertible was Miss Kiwi. Somehow, during that period, friends starting calling me Kiwi. Over time, Kiwi was used when I was going through something difficult. So when I got my DX on July 2, 2007, the first thing I thought of was "Kiwi can make it on this journey". I decided my screen name should be:" KiwiKan" And, my avatar is a picture of my cat, Frank. His laid back cat-i-tude is one I aspire to.
Frank has given me so much comfort and he simply makes me laugh. Cheers to us all! Ruth

There were a LOT of debs and debbies here when I signed in. I tried my last initial, and someone already had it....tried several combos, and they were all taken....then I settled on AlaskaDeb, since that is where I live.....Not very creative, but it works....

Everybody thinks I was born or live in Australia......nope just my last name. It is an unusual spelling. Aquired this last name through marriage....and unfortunately a marriage that is no longer. Wishing now I had changed my last name when we divorced.
Fun thread, bandteacher!

LOL...I asked you in chat if you were an Aussie and also asked kiwikan if she was from New Zealand as New Zealanders are nicknamed kiwis here.
When chosing a screen name I just typed the first thing that came into my head.I was just browsing the site and didn't know that I was going to stick around this long.

I had a really hard time accepting my diagnoses at first. I struggled with the change. After some time I accepted my new normal and again was Happy to be me . That is why I picked that screen name.
-
Not too exciting, but, being new to Internet use I really didn't want my actual name out there so I choose "the2spoiledgirls" ... which are my 2 cats ... often just called "the girls" but ... didn't want people to think I had knicknamed by boobs ...
Only recently did I change to Laura-Vic ... because, I am comfortable here and I am a real person ... name is Laura, from Victoria, BC Canada. So - clearly our real selves are clear ... it's the background that makes us unique - and have really interesting "alias's".... ha !!
Thanks ... Laura in Victoria, -
The GS are my mom's initials and the last G stands for girl. if her name were gail smith it would be gail smith's girl. even at age 52, i'm still kind of a mommy's girl.

I started out on this board using my real name then got scared when I realized my info could be googled so I changed my user name to snowyday, because it was snowing like crazy that day. But I still end with my real name, which is stupid I should just go back to my name again.pearl49

I just used my initials. The combination is unique (or I got to it first).
I use my initials for everything. I still sign off with my real first name.

Well my first name here was BcMary49, I had BC, name was Mary and I was 49.
I changed it when the format changed. Mary-Lou is my real name.
LOL, Deb you already know that....I love you sister.
-
Well, my screen name is a combo of my first and last name without using all the letters. I use it on everything.
-
My screen name is what I love and do...teach sociology at a community college.

I like this thread. Thanks for starting it bt Deb.
My screen name is what most of my relatives called me when I was a little girl "lini" pronounced "lee-nee", not "lynnie". The "i" sound in Spanish is a long e sound. The 57 is the year I was born in.
Now off to the avatar thread.....
-
Hi,
Great Thread. I changed my screen name about a month ago, because I saw all the other unique names and so I went with a more unique one. My original screen name when I was DX was just my name (sherryw) But when I went with the more unique name I went with Monkey-face, When I was little I used to make a monkey-face all the time, I loved showing off how I could look like a monkey and even though I don't look like a monkey in real life when I do my Monkey-face, trust me I really do look like a Monkey.
So that is where the Monkey-face came from.

Lini, that is awesome-thank you for sharing that with us. I totally have been "saying" your name wrong all this time.
I love this. It's really like re-introducing ourselves to each other!
Love and prayers, Deb -
Deb,
My furbaby is glad she could bring a smile.
-
I love that she is your furbaby, too. I wish I could see a bigger picture-do you think you could?
My kitty (named Rosie O'Donnell) likes to plop herself wherever she wants. Presently, she is standing/crouching in front of me, directly in front of the screen.
Ellen Degeneres did a monologue about her pets, and how she will do whatever they want, as long as they are comfortable. So, like her, here I sit looking around my massive kitty so she can be happy. -
Deb, (bandteacher)
You are funny!!
: ) Traci
-
Maybe I should explain....
I don't know why I find it so hysterical that you named your cat Rosie O'Donnell....lmao! That just made me laugh hard. But, it started with the Blizzard....and then, lol.....asking to see a bigger pic of furbaby...lol....and then massive kitty!!!!!
Gawd....I can't stop laughing!!!!!!! Thanks girl. I needed that!!!

Most of you know this by now - I'm such a "regular" here at bco! LOL
But...dh and I own a race car - it's a GTO (aka: The Goat). When I was dx'd one of the few things that calmed me and took away my fear and let me drift away from bc - was taking the Goat for a nightly ride - into the sunset. Now...I have to admit - occasionally, I would "run into" another race car and if no one was around... we would street race.
When my dh realized how much the Goat helped me, he had a bigger, faster engine custom built for it. We, yes me too, race with it at 1/4 mile dragstrips. As I write this, we're having an even faster engine built. Our license plate is: RKN' GOAT
So come spring...I will be racing again and getting a trap speed of about 125 mph - and I should be able to finish the 1/4 mile in about 10.2 seconds.
I'm going to have my race helmet custom painted with some type of graphics (maybe the words, Racing For A Cure, not original but appropriate)...then, I may change my avatar to a photo of me wearing it.
-
I love you, too, Traci!
I was a huge fan of Rosie during her show. I just thought she was like my Mom, reincarnated, because my Mom used to be able to sing the words to any and every show tune ever. Rosie did the same thing.
I might add, one of my best friends is a Lesbian, and when we worked at Starbucks together for 5 years, all our customers thought we were dating.
My friend used to call me an "honorary" lesbian, and take me to all the gay functions and gay bars. So, it only seemed fitting that my kitty (who used to fit in the palm of my hand when I got her) was named Rosie O'Donnell. I got her in Salt Lake City the day I moved out to Wyoming. My friend (the lesbian) drove 18 hours with me to keep me company, and I flew her out of SLC. I was so lonely, I drove around until I found the humane society.
My little Rosie practically lept out of the cage when I "sampled" her, and curled up on my shoulder.
Now she is a huge cow that barfs everything she eats, and scavenges beneath Daniel's chair for mac and cheese droppings.HA! HA!
Mmmm.....we're having a Blizzard tonight! Before our "real" Valentine's celebration....... -
People still think I am dating my friend, by the way.
-
lmao!
Here's my cat. Dallas.
