I figured they were going to be really small, Sheila.  My dh was getting carried away--he has quite an imagination.  "You're getting tattoos????"  He thought the prospect was pretty exciting.  He's going to be sorely disappointed!  LOL!!

Thanks for the information.  I hope your appointment isn't rescheduled again.  I didn't realize you were going to get radiation.  When do you start?

Sue!  I forgot to ask you about that.  Your bone scan was clear!!  That is so wonderful!!!  I just knew that it would be.  I know you're sick and tired of it all, but that is such exciting news!  What a relief.

Yes, shingles, a pox on life! Ha.. I see they gave you the antiviral. Shingles sure can be painful. Hope your's stay on your back. Mine came out last year on my face near my eye, and in my scalp. I swear I have a permanent bald spot were a lesion was.



Good news: they don't recurr.



Do watch your temp, etc.. take care of yourself, Sue. Just rest. You're immune system is working hard right now. But you know that.

Karen, I am at the last step of my reconstruction, the icing on the cake so to speak . The recon is done in steps, starting with the surgery to put in the expanders, filling up the expanders, exchanging the expanders with the perm implant, creating the nipple twist, and finally tattooing the areola (put the color on). Each step has its time frame before moving on to the next step. My PS said that he needs at least 8 months to create a good boob, my 8 months was up the first of Feb. Also, I don't need rads because I did the bilat mast for my DCIS .

My husband doesn't like tattoos either but he did get one last fall for me (his first and last). He got a tattoo of a pink ribbon with my name over the top and under my wife-my hero. He got his without numbing . He said he can't wait to come home and see what I had done this week.

No, for shingles, or herpes zooster I see that 400 mg 5 x per day up to 800 mg 5 times per day can be prescribed. Whilte the total mg amount seems hugh, each drug is different so you really can't go by that. I'm trying to get to the Glaxo website for you. I can't find the package insert on FDA.gov yet.

Gotcha, Sheila.  Wow!  That's quite a process.  I remember you telling us that your dh got a pink ribbon tattoo.  That is so sweet!  My hubby wouldn't do anything like that for me.  You're very lucky!

I want a nice one too, Sue!  My DH made a comment a while back that he'll be glad when my "f*#king overhaul" is complete.  Overhaul????  Like I chose this for myself or derive pleasure from painful surgeries and having poisons pumped into my body!!!!  Geez!!  Sorry that I'm such a lemon.  I'm more than he bargained for, I think.  Sigh.................

Oh Sue, I know you are exhausted, sore and worried but I am so glad the bone scan was clear. I felt sure that it would be.

I am sure you probably do have shingles. It is a typical reaction of the immune system when it is stressed. My first husband got it once and he was in a lot of pain. As far as I know, he has only had it once. You can't get it if you haven't had chicken pox previously. As far as the dr misdiagnosing? Annoying and frustrating but doctors do make mistakes. You do need to rest as much as possible and let your body gain some strength. You are so strong Sue - I cannot believe how you do it! Working every day, feeling exhausted, caring for your boys...you do it all, feeling rotten most of the time but you keep going! That is true courage and bravery.

Karen, I am thinking of you too and your approaching surgery and rads. Did I read that you are having your surgery next Wednesday? When do you start your rads? Surely they will let you recover from you surgery before they start zapping you?

Sheila - yippee! You will soon have your tattoos and your recon will be complete! It has taken so long, hasn't it? I hope you and your husband will be thrilled with the final results.

My sister rang this morning to say she was safely with her daughter in Canada. She flew the long way and was 27 hours in the air - plus a 2 hour stopover in Abu Darbi. She is exhausted and hopes her daughter's baby won't be born until she has a good sleep!

Sue, I an so glad you survived your treatment but CANNOT believe you have shingles-  YOU ARE ONE TOUGH LADY- I can't even imagine the pain your were in.  I am SO glad they found out what was wrong and are treating you.

I have rad tattoes, as well as regular ones!! lol.  The rad ones are little dots.  They put them on so it is easier for them to zoom in on the spot they need to focus on.  They didn't hurt at all. You will have to go for 1 or 2 sessions of "markings" before they actually start.   Now, my normal tat's - thats I different story!!  Some of them hurt a bit.

Hi Sue! I'm so glad you got through todays tx. And there is a very good chance you may not get sick like before. Are you getting tx weekly now? Even though thats yucky , it will seem to go faster than before. Shingles?! You know , I had shingles about 9 years ago , same place as you. They were very painful. Meds sound about right. My doc asked me if I was under alot of stress , I said yes , work at the time was bad , he said that stress and bad physical problems can bring on shingles , and asked if I could change jobs. And I did. But he also gave me ten days off work to get better. So I think of all you're are going through , no wonder the shingles came on. Yes it is the chicken pox virus laying dormant in our systems until something brings it on. I'm surprised your doc didn't tell you to take some time off work. You really need to rest so you can heal and the pain doesn't get worse. xxxxx Love you sweet sister.

Hi to all my other sweet sisters. I am going to lay down and relax. I don't know why , but my paputations are back once again. As soon as I got off work , I was cleaning my car off and boom , I started getting them and they haven't let up yet. Gosh , I wish I knew what brings them on. This happened about two weeks ago , I went to the doc , they gave me an ekg , which was normal. And the  next day , they just stopped. They did say to stay away from the caffeine.
