For those starting chemo in June

Where is NL anyway? I do get an occasional email, but I think she has sworn off BC org.
-
Janie, She had some test done but she is back home. She has a hard time finding the threads and posting I think. Anyhow, I e-d her to see how she was and she said to tell everyone hi. Hope everyone is warm and dry. We had dense fog today. Now it was 47 and tomorrow warm and storms and heavy rain followed by overnight snow and freezing. What the tooter? This is Feb. so anything can happen through April. $&*#+. I don't like this weather. Hugs, Mary
-
It is going to be around 75 here today!?! Thunderstorms this week. It goes from below freezing to warm and sunny. Weather must be crazy everywhere. Never know what to wear.
My gastro guy said I didn't need to see him again until 2013. They said they would send me a reminder when the time was close. Seems strange that people are beginning to make appointments far out in the future. He said he did some biopsies and there are no signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in the esophagus, stomach or colon. I do have some inflamation (cannot think of how to spell the big named condition) and reflux, but nothing major.
Later ladies,
Janie
-
Good for you Janie. Yea, I will be here to remind you of that apt. and P.J. and N.L. too. We will all remind you. They will have to with my memory. Hugs, Mary
-
Hey girls, hope everyone is staying warm. Janie, hope your eye surg. went as well as the last one. I have been thinking about you today. Hi P.J. and N.L. too. Hugs, Mary
-
Hi All,
Mary, you all will need to remind me of that appointment in five years because I will be 66 by then and dementia will be settling in on my chemo fried brain.
My eye is fine thanks. I think it did a little better than the other one actually. He said the first one looks really good. So i guess this other one will too in a week or so. He does the follow-up in a month. I will be so glad to get rid of some of these appointments and go back to just the usual ones (those are enough).
Later gators,
Janie
-
Janie, Glad to hear it is fine. Stay warm and hope your eye heals fast. My thyroid seems better but I don't want to brag and hoax myself. lATER
-
Janie, glad your fine and hope you will heal fast. I will remind you only if I don't forget. Later girls. Hugs, Mary
-
O.K. I have no idea whats going on. Janie, glad all is fine. I will be back later. Hugs, Mary

Hey All,
Mary, did you not really delete those comments? Is that why you said you do not know what is going on, or am I missing something? That would not be a first if I am.
It is 38 degrees here at the moment. I am having coffee and shaking like crazy because I have not taken my meds yet. I have to have something on my stomach to take it or I get nauseous.
I worked all day yesterday (Saturday) -- work work not home work. This is getting old. My house is falling down around me while I meet deadlines. I must run some errands this afternoon, although I still have more to do before tomorrow. After Tuesday, things will slow down a bit. I still have much to do, but nothing due for a while after that so maybe I can get a jump on some of it.
I have a regular follow-up Tuesday with my onc. I expect no surprises, especially since I have been biopsied latey and seen by every specialist known to man. I will probably have more to tell him that he has to tell me.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs, Janie

Hi Girls, Janie it is 14 with a wind chill of -5. Burrrr!!!!. Oh, what happened I clicked submit and it submitted twice and the words were scrambled up. The sentences didn't make sense. I have no idea what happened but I deleted and just wrote a note. You need some down time girl. I think the thyroid is settling down and I don't want to brag but it is soo much better the last few days. I hope it stays this way. It gets better then screws up again so who knows. Good luck anyway on the Onky apt. I go in June then I go once a year after that finally. Better go do a little house work. Hi N.L. and P.J. Hugs, Mary
-
I think mine changes to a year after this too. However, my ob-gyn said she thought I should have a breast exam at least every six months. At present, I have a follow-up at the surgeon's in July so I am covered for a year either way, but after that who knows. I have been getting mammos twice a year so who knows if that will continue or not.
Mary, so glad the thyroid is doing better. Let us hope and pray that continues. I now have a slight breather, but don't tell the powers that be, they will send me extra. I have plenty to do still, just no deadlines for little while. Had a fairly good day today. One cancelled so that helped a lot in keeping up with the rest.
Hey PJ. NL tell your brother happy birthday. Hey Shrink.
-
Hello everyone. I'm due to finish radiation on Friday. Can't be too soon. My skin is a mess - burns, itches, blisters - the whole deal. Hope you're all doing well.
-
Good for you Shrink, it only gets better now. Hope you celebrate. Hugs and Hi all, Mare
-
Congrats Shrink. Each milestone behind you is one more step to your "new normal."
Onc said everything is AOK. I was in the orignial study. For some reason Mayo wants me to be seen every six months from end of TX rather than from DX. My local onc is following their protocol since they saw me first. Therefore, I will not go to the once a year thingee until 2010 !!!! I feel like all my buddies have graduated and I have been retained! On the other hand, all the calcifications are being watched closely because it is so hard to distinguish them from lumps. So maybe this is best. Hugs to all. Janie
-
Hey, good for you Janie. Sorry you have to go every 6 months though. Later and Hi girls. Hugs, Mary
-
Hey Girls, have a Margarita and a chocolate covered strawberry and relax today. Think of good looking men all sexy and ripped, then be glad we are only dreaming because frankly I couldn't keep up. Have a great day and Happy Valentines Day Girls. AAAHHHH; Chocolate, it doesn't get any better. Hugs, Mary

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY LADIES!
Hope you all got fat and sassy on this holiday. Holiday? I had 11 meetings! But I also got lots of goodies.....like I need those?!?!
I got a kick out of this and thought I would pass it along. THe AP's daughter is in kindergarten at our school. They were at Wal-Mart yesterday afternoon and the kid picked out some kind of flavored tea. She took one sip and told her Mom it was awful. Her Mom said that was fine, she did not have to drink it but that she had picked it out and she would not buy her something else. This morning the kid tells her teacher that she had something to give her to drink. She says, "I had a little sip, but it is ok because I cleaned it off good with a baby wipe." The teacher ended up drinking all of it. lol
Don't know if I could keep up Mary, but would like to give it a whirl. Hugs, Janie

Hey, Janie, that's a hilarilous story!
Been gone awhile, obviously. Glad to hear your eye is doing well, Janie.
Work's been busy, what with mayhem and impending elections. I think Nathan wants to volunteer for Obama (whose campaign is opening an office here). Of course, if he really did, my husband would have to take him since I can't go near the place lest someone think I'm showing favoritism. The news business is weird sometimes.
My lymphedema is being troublesome again. I guess I'll have to start wearing that darn sleeve. For awhile anyway. I keep hoping for some miracle treatment for that. Janie, didn't you look into some laser thing or something?
Glad you girls had a good Valentine's day. Hope the weekend is a fun one. -
PJ, I checked into a clinical trial and was told I would be notified if they did another one; however, it is all the way in AK and I doubt I could make the required number of trips there. The cold laser TX did get FDA approval in the states, but the last I heard it was only being tried on the west coast. It has had success in Russia and Australia. I would love to try it. I like the sleeves I order from Ames better than the ones I get from the lymphedema clinics because of the material and they have the grip that does not roll. I have had to wear a day or night contrapion for about 3 years now. It DO GET OLD. Hugs ladies, Janie

Hey girls, I have come to the conclusion that it is Not going to warm up here. This 9 degrees sucks. I just wanted to see how everyone is and if you all are staying warm. Hubby and I cooped up all day isn't a good thing. Well, we are going to do a craft show the end of the month. It is about 1 1/2 hours away or a little more. I am not sure. We just as well. It will probably blow up a blizzard and we will get stuck down there. Oh well. It is a big boat and craft show and flea market inside a big Mall. Should be good I hope. Maybe people will be spending their income tax money. Janie, hope your eyes are as good as new. P.J. hope your not working too hard with the elections. Hi to Nancy and Shrink.Well I better get. Have a good evening girls. Hugs, Mary
-
Hey Mare et. al.,
It is in the 30's here in GA! So I know it must be freezing there. The months are flying by. That craft show will be here before you know it. My eyes are good. Thanks. Everybody have a good Wednesday evening watching AI and basketball, or whatever you plan to do.
Love you guys,
Janie
-
Well we have about 4 inches of snow. Burrr. It is going to warm up next wk. or maybe a few years from now! Hope everyone is enjoying their wk. end. We are soo sick of staying. You use $3.00 of gas to warm up the car. Well, just wanted to say hi and hope you guys have better weather. Later Girls. Hugs, Mary
-
That half sentence is; we are so sick of staying in the house. Tool Man is lucky I am so easy to get along with. Hugs, Mary
-
Hey Mare, No snow here, just cold drizzly rain most of the week. Sort of mild today. Went to a movie marathon and survived! They were showing all 5 movies that are in the running for best picture at the Oscars tomorrow night. Saw 4 and left. Did not care about the really violent one titled something about country and old men. They were all uniquely different from one another. Hugs, Janie

Hey Girls, my daughter called lastnight in Scottsdale. She and her Pharm. tech were the only 2 working in her pharm.(it is a small one) and it was lunch time and the tech was just leaving to pick up lunch and leave my daughter alone when a man came in with a note demanding drugs and armed. The tech was able to get out of sight after talking to him and call 911 and my daughter was able to keep going over the note with him and asking about the drugs he wanted and stalled for sometime. When he got aggitated she gave him some of the drugs and kept going to the safe to get more as to get them all at once, he wasn't getting all her drugs she said. She slipped the note in her pocket because she wanted finger prints and when he asked for it back she said she would throw it away and he had all her drugs so he should just leave and he did. She followed behind him to the door and after he exited she went out to see where he was headed to tell police when they arrived. All she saw was a sea of cop cars and they tackled him to the ground and told her to get back in. She saw his face when they slamed him aginst the window and she said she just stared at him but he did not look her in the eyes. This is the first capture they have made I guess. There is a man doing this to a lot of Pharmsd. so I hope this is the bandit they are looking for. The cops praised her for thinking so well and not getting excited. Her tech was a basket case so they had to close because the cops had to get reports and evidence and people were mad and telling my daughter she shouln't be a Pharm. if she can't stay open and telling her she should be hit by a car because she was closing and couldn't fill the script. There are humdreds of Walgreens there like they can't just go down the block. Oh well, that has been my worse nightmare and thank God she is o.k. Thank God the tech hadn't left yet. Well it is warming up in the 30's but, snow again on Tue. Have a great Sunday. Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, Thank God she is OK. What a cool head she has! So glad it all worked out.
-
Wow, Mary, your daughter rocks! Thank God she is safe. How did she think to handle it that way? I mean, she has her mom's cool head, obviously, but I think I would have melted....
Speaking of melting, you girls still shivering? My sister from Madison was in California over the weekend and a pipe burst on an external wall, spewing water in her newly remodeled basement. Luckily, neighbors got the fire department to get in the house and shut it off. And, more luckily, only the laundry room had water in it, not the newly fixed up stuff....
All's fine here. Work is getting to be more and more pressure, but it sure beats digging ditches. Less than 3 weeks til Nathan, mom and I go to San Diego. -
Hey Girls, I must say my daughter is braver than I. I probably would have told the guy how he shouldn't be doing this and his mom wouldn't like it and he would have blown my head off. I am highly scared of guns unless I am holding it. She is very verbal and tells ya like she thinks it is so it doesn't suprise me at all. Thats why I worry. Well, hope you girls are having a relaxing evening. I have to go eat so Later. Hugs, Mary
-
mary, i hope you have a good productive trip and get back safe and sound.
pj, how is your mom doing now? any better situated in her new digs?
hey, nl if you ever get debanned, and hi shrink.
