Aren't they awful? I swear , when it hits , I can't feel the atmosphere around me. Only hot. Even if I am standing outside in the cold.

Hi everyone, Walt was a Mystery Shopper for Kentucky Fried Chicken for about a year. It was fun. I went with him sometimes. We would go to every outlet in San Diego County in one day. We had set things to order and we checked temperature of the chicken, whether they offered wet naps, etc. Then, when the day was over, we took it all down to our skid-row and gave street people about $600 worth of meals. The entire TRUNK was full of meals and buckets. Could not go to regular places where they give out food, because nothing was wrapped good enough. But we sure made a lot of people happy with desserts, whole buckets of chicken, dinners, drinks. It was so heart-warming. One day Walt asked a big black fellow if he wanted a chicken dinner, and he said, "Son, I need a lot more than a chicken dinner!". I felt so sorry for him.
But most of the folks were just tickled pink. The food was good and a real treat.
How is our Sue today? And have we heard from Ulla? I need to read the threads and see.
Love you all, Shirlann

Home...and Sue..you are dreaming. I think Olivia has what you have. Temp, stuffy, feeling yucky!! K...watching American Idol.

OMG - Just finished watching Idol - IT WAS HYSTERICAL!!!! Sue, can't wait for you to see it. Ryan hosted here, not sure why you get Cat.

Rats! Just when I get on here, you all go to bed! Loved reading all your comments.
So thrilled about your sister's results Melody. It sounds pretty benign to me - fantastic!!
Ulla, glad you are feeling a bit better. You are often in my thoughts and I try to picture you in the cold, dark north. Spring is coming and with it, better days.
We get house here and it's great. I enjoy American Idol too and So you think you can dance - that's amazing to watch. We also have Australian Idol and that is really funny too - a lot of people must just go on there so they can get their 15 minutes of fame for being terrible singers!
Lisa, my sons are all in their 20s. James, the eldest, turned 29 last week, then there's Heath -26 and then William who also had a birthday last week -he's just turned 23. James is currently travelling with Will. Will wants to teach in London when he gets there. James does lots of creative things - photography, web design, graphic art etc. Will is a high school teacher and Heath has just left his current job (similar to James - he is a photographer as well) and is travelling (in the US at present) and then he wants to do some sort of volunteer work in India or a 3rd world country. I miss them but I am glad they are doing this while they are young and before they settle down.
I am sitting here sweltering and there is a big thunder storm coming so I should unplug my computer as we don't have a power surge protector. I think I will go to Curves and work up an even bigger sweat as I have been inactive all day.
Sleep well everybody.

Lisa where do you work?
i run a mobile phone store and believe me I think that must be the most complained about industry in the UK.
People are late paying there bill and they get cut off then SCREAM at me because after paying it takes 24 hours to get reconnected. pay your bill on time then you cheap skate!
I have been spat at sworn at and threatened!
Crazy people, yes I do feel like saying "well your phone didn't work for a few hours"... so f'ing what! Life goes on... get a grip! (I don't say that) LOL I'd love to though!!! -
Good morning!! Or afternoon to some of you!
Poppy...I work for the airlines. I work at the airport. We do just about everything here...but I primarily work in the baggage service office. So...I get lots of complaints! I bet you do too, dealing with those unhappy cellphone customers!
So..what did you all think of American Idol? Oh my...some real winners!..NOT!! Haha..Sue...look out for Milo...and Ill call him the STALKER!! He sings a song he wrote for Paula...total freak!!
There is some talent too! I like the young tall blonde..I think her name was Carrie Ann...from Oregon! Also a very polite african american..very hot too..haha...with beautiful eyes..I think his name was Chris..he had longer dreadlocks...but he was a favorite too of mine. You will have to tell us what you think! I missed the first 45 min...since I was not home yet.
Have fun watching.
GB...Your sons sound like wonderful young men! I am sure you are very proud of them. Are they dating anyone? Haha..we could fix them up with 1 or 2 of my daughters!

I have an atenna and Fox does not come in well at my house, I guess I will just have to miss Idol.
We are under a Severe Winter Storm Advisory for tonight through Friday Morning. The weather is expected to hit after midnight tonight and they are predicting 2-5 inches of snow before the storm ends Friday morning. I hope that we do get some snow. My boss just helped me set up where I will get a text msg to my phone if the office is closed due to bad weather from Channel 9. I will know if it works tomorrow. But I only work half a mile from the office and if I can't get my car down my slippery driveway, I could call my boss to come in his 4-wheel drive and pick me up. I am one who always shows up anyway. This summer was the longest I have been out of work (4 weeks for recouperation)
I have always had the flushed face/ears when I get hot, the Tamox did not help it any.

Sheila...I saw that storm information on the Today show!! We are going to have a major cold blast! About 10 degrees this weekend for our high! BRRRRRRRRRR
I am like you, I hate to miss work! We all know Sue doesn't miss either!! I will be out in February for about 4 wks for my surgery...no pay, except for some vacation time I will use!
I hate the red ears...it's embarrassing!
Have a good day everyone!

I used my vacation time (one week) and sick time (one week) for the various appointments and one day procedures througout the year. I did get disability pay while I was out in June at the tune of $150 a week. Considering I have about $110 a week deductions in the various insurances I have taken out (med, dental, vision, life, Aflac) and a 401k loan, I got the grand total of $32 take home every 2 weeks. I just am thankful that I took out the Aflac cancer plan 2 yrs ago before my first abnormal mammo/biopsy which was b9. Last year I got about $15000 from Aflac for all the cancer procedures that I had, that money helped me keep up the house payment and even remodeled my bathroom (crack in the tub). My DH says he Loves that Duck!
They say we will be in the 20's this weekend for highs. Not good for melting ice and snow.
I get the flushed face from my great-grandmother and grandmother, my father said that his grandmother and mother all got red faced when they got warm, I have done that since I was in my early 20's. Everyone asks me if I am OK when I have the red face. I keep a small fan in my office set to blow across my head when I feel warm. speaking of warm, my face is tingly now, better start the fan. It is weird considering that it is about 40 degrees outside now and I have a fan running in my office but earlier this morning I had a heater running. I just can't get comfortable.
Sheila

Sheila,
How nice that you had that income from the "duck"! I don't have disability, nor did I have any plan like you did from Aflac. I would have never thought of doing that...esp since I have always been as healthy as a horse! Well, my family and friends have helped me out financially as well as emotionaly. Thank God for all of them. My ex, doesn't pay child support..so it's only my income. Things are tough, but as I see it, they always work out! I have faith! Luckily too...I have very good health insurance.
I am like that too..hot, then cold..then hot again..oh well..
Those are really cold temps for NC isnt it?
Lisa

The first year they offered the insurance, I took it up, because of my mom's dx in 2001 with cancer and her sister's ovarian cancer in 1978. I did not take it out on my dh but my policy is $28 every 2 weeks. At first I was hesitant about getting it, but this year it has paid for itself. I get $75 a year for cancer screenings (mammos) as part of the wellness benefits. Now the agent wants me to write a letter of testimonial saying how well it paid during my treatments that she can use in trying to sell the plan.
My son's dad also did not pay child support, I finally took him to court and dissolved his parental rights when my son was 3. If my new dh wanted to he could adopt my son and give him his last name, but when I met him my son was 11 and established with the name Beavers. John said that he did not need a paper to know who his dad was.
I live close to the mtns (about 45 minutes from Boone) and the ski resorts love the temps under freezing so they can make the snow but love it even more with the real stuff. It is rather cold for here. our normal high temps are in the mid 40-50's and low are in the upper 30-40's. Usually the snow here (in the foothills) lasts less than 2 days.
Where up North do you live? I saw you went to NY last week.

Hi Lisa! You guys were having a fun conversation last night. I intended to come back, but had to help Portia with a school project. We did finish in time to see American Idol though. Oh my! They had some winners on, didn't they? That stalker guy was creeping me out big time. I don't imagine Paula slept well that night!! Eeeewwww! The black guy with the dreads is a hottie, isn't he? I think he's going to go far. And the girl from Oregon and the one at the end who's a nanny. They're both really good and have the "look". What about that one really tall black guy with the deep singing voice. What the hell was he singing??? Some sort of scary sounding gospel song? I couldn't even understand him. It was painful!! How does Simon keep a straight face while the other two are practically peeing their pants, they're laughing so hard? I thoroughly enjoyed the two hour premier. Sue, you're in for a treat!
I'm worried that you have a fever, Sue! There's no way they're going to allow you to do chemo if you're that sick. I'm angry that you ended up having to go in to work. Shouldn't you be home by now???? I hope so--and that you're in bed too!
Hugs to all,
Karen
-
Hi to you too, Sheila. Good to know that Aflac is actually as good as they advertise.
Boy, you two are having some seriously cold, snowy weather. I'm dying and it's about 28 degrees and clear here.
Hugs,
Karen
-
We have not started having the weather. . .yet. it is expected to hit after midnight. but today is cold and with it being cold, the ground will be cold preventing the snow from melting too much to start out with.

hi everyone this is my first time in chat rooms i was woundering if any one could give me some infor. i am going though another breast cancer scare and i have a problem i have had breast cancer once before with no medical insurance and lost my house and my flower shop and my husband because of no medical insurance.the problem is a doctor said that there is another lump in the same breast as before and it needs to come out but i can not find any company that will give me medical insurance.there for i do not know what to do because i can not afford to have the cancer removed this time, plus i have got back with my husdand and i am really scared about telling him about it this time. last time i went though this i ended up doing it by myself while caring for my eight kids now i only have two kids at home but i can't even aford to get any pain meds to help me with my pain.does any one know of any company in the us that i can get afordable medical insurance though that would help me with the cost this time
-
Have you checked with the local health department for assistance with the Komen Foundation or any state funds? I know that our local health department will file the necessary paperwork for assistance with grants from Komen and a state program for uninsured women with breast issues.
Sheila

Sheila's right on the mark. I know a gal who works for a local hospital here in the Seattle area. Her job is to help patients without medical insurance find assistance. She says there are HUNDREDS of special funds out there for people in need. Definitely call your local hospital and ask if they have someone there who can meet with you, get your info, and find you some assistance.
Good luck to you! Check back in to let us know how it goes.
Hugs,
Karen

Hello Everyone xxx
Hi Samantha , I hope you get everything sorted, I am so sorry for your situation, please do keep posting,it will help you a lot xxx
I hope you are all having good moments xxx
I am streaming with flu tonite. I left work at 2pm...its now 7 pm...I still have my scarf on and uniform..I hope my cold shifts..if not I will stay off Friday, I dont owe Tom any favours ...and we have come to the conclusion that he has pulled a blinding fast one with the sale. He will be sold on Weds ...he only told me last week and hasnt even got the balls to sit the staff down and tell them, I had to ...and he owes us all holiday pay...he owes me 4 weeks which is over 1200 pounds...I wont see that! He used to underpay his staff and everything ...I am glad he is going. He has been very supportive towards me...but only I think cos he knows which side his bread is buttered on !!
Well I am looking forward to Idol tomorrow night. It is repeated on Friday ...so it isnt 2 shows. I gather now that Ryan is hosting it...but is Cat not doing it...she did it last year...or at least she introduced the cities and people...did you not see her xxx
Right I am going to do the dishes and have a bath ..... I am sick to the back teeth of blowing my nose!!! hahaha
I am going to clear my head and think think think....I have tx nxt Tues and that to me is like ten seconds away ...rushin towards me like a black tidal wave .....
Much Love xxx

I just recently checked with the cancer facilitator nurse with the wig bank on what was available for the uninsured women and how to find the assistance for a friend who had a lump. Crystal was the one who said to go to the health department.
Sheila
-
Welcome Samantha. I am glad Karen and Sheila were of help to you.
Sue..Your tx is next Tues? Why was I thinking tomorrow. Good..then u have time to rest and get better. Olivia is not feeling good at all. Going to take her to the med. place tomorrow after all of my testing at the hospital for my upcoming surgery.
That's right Sue..you don't owe Tom anything. U better get your wages!!!!!!!!!
My ex is behind in alimony and child support to the tune of at least $10, 000 or more! There is a warrant out for his arrest..but that has been since November! He doesn't pay alimony anymore (since I had that short lived marriage..that we won't talk about...haha) but if he was paid up, he at this point would only owe about 300.00 a month for Olivia. So sad, that they don't take care of their own children!
I live in Ohio...just south of Cleveland. I ended up not going to NYC...the flight got cancelled, and we had already decided not to go the night before, because there was supposed to be allot of snow (never came). We will go another time.
Karen, I agree with you on all of the "talent" on AI. I don't understand how Paula after that "stalker" guy...then when he was leaving..said thanks for coming? What the heck...I would not have said that. Olivia said, Mom..she was trying to be nice...I said..why?? after that freaky song??omg..something else!!
Sue...I can't wait for you to watch it!!
xoxo

Lisa, I am originally from Troy, North of Dayton. I spent time (4 weeks) as a pre-teen at Cleveland Clinic for scolosis surgery. I still have family in the Troy/Tipp City area.
Sheila
-
I am close to Akron too!
I have heard of Troy. My nephew lives in Dayton. He and his sister both graduated from the University of Dayton.
-
Hi Sue! Sounds like you'll be better off without that boss of yours. I'm sorry you're feeling so crummy. Do you still have a fever?
Cat, I believe, only hosts "So You Think You can Dance", here in the states. I can't imagine why she'd be the host of AI broadcast in the UK. Don't you see the exact same thing we do? Ryan has been the one and only host of our version since season two. There was another guy with him for season one, but they gave him the boot.
Hugs,
Karen
-
Oops, sorry to bust into the middle of your chat Lisa and Sheila.
-
Karen...stop...no busting in...dont be silly. xoxo
-
It's ok Karen. I just check to see if there is any activity in between entering orders or if I am completely board. Usually I get behind in all the conversations going on during the day or evening and have to catch up the next morning.
