    Happy New Year all of my September Sisters. Sandra, midnight has come and gone in the UK. I watched the clock so I knew when my daughter watched the new year. She is back in London, left me yesterday.

    Made an Indian dinner tonight, trying hard to fight the December blahs. Two parties tomorrow.

    Sending all of my good thoughts to each and every one of you.

    I am doing just fine. I tried to post from work and it ate my post. I have not had a chance to check back in until now.

    I had the gene test done for a couple of reasons. I wanted to know if I had the gene so we knew if we might want to test my daughters once they are over 18 and also I wanted to know if I carried the gene to see if I might have my one remaining ovary removed to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. I did not know how much greater the risk was of getting ovarian cancer if you carried the genes. The test also will not cost me anything as I have met all my out of pocket for this year.

    There are laws here to protect one if they have either of the breast cancer genes. In my case having inflammatory and at such a young age, I wanted the test.

    First the good news: my mammo and ultra sound showed nothing! whew! I can breathe again.



    Lynell, so sorry to hear about your cat. I know you'll miss him, but what a way to go...live to a ripe old age, have a good meal and roll over. We should all be so lucky.



    Susan, what is your daughter studying in London. My daughter wants to go to Europ for the summer. We're all for providing her with great experiences, but that exchange rate...shessh.



    Tina, when will you get the results of you test? I hope you get good news.

    Hi all

    Sorry to be away for so long, busy busy!

    Our amusement ride business has reallly started to grow and we have had bookings every weekend since October, as well as my job at the canteen. We have just purchased some mini dodgem cars (kids under 8yrs) to add and it is a very exciting time.

    Back home now from our two week caravan holiday at the beach, the rest was great. Not much else going on untill the Australia Day long weekend 26th January.

    Health wise not to bad. I did have a bit of a scare about 3 wks ago the lymph node on the right side of my neck (surgery side) was swolen and sore to touch (like my lump) went into a panic then saw Drs and it was just an infection. Antiobotics fixed in less than 24hrs. Phew! In the mean time before seeing dr I went on a bit of an "I'm not putting up with this S*#t" rampage! all ended well though came away with a pay rise at work!!!

    Had a good christmas except for the MIL (what a biatch) for the fourth year in a row she gave me a tin of short bread cookies (value $3.50) they are millionaires. Anyway hot on the heals of the not putting up with this rant I told her exactly where and how she can place her cookies! (no sun shine there baby!..lol) With a bit of luck she will never speak to me again.

    Anyway we have had lots of rain the sun is shining today and looks like it will be a beautiful day! I am going out to enjoy it.

    Nicole, thanks for the laugh!!  2 Weeks in the caravan - amazing!  We are planning a trip to Namibia, Zambia and Botswana for 3 weeks in ours!!  I can not wait!  I have decided until after our holiday in May, I won't give bc any more thought!  So if it wants to come back, it will have to schedule an appointment for after June!

    I think of everybody often, and hope that we'll have a good, NED year....

    I hate to have to take back some of my good news but I just got the mailed report of my mammogram.

    It said ACR Category 3-probably benign-short interval follow up.

    So it wasn't exactly the all-clear I had wanted.

    Not that it's bad, but who would be comfortable with "probably" when my mammograms never showed anything when I had cancer. I have an appt. with my onc and I'll find out if she thinks I should pursue an MRI. (I just had one about 6 months ago).

    So again, it's probably nothing, but I figure I can express my anxiety here, and not burden my family.



    Liezel, what an exciting trip you have planned. I hope you'll be posting some pictures.



    Nicole, Your business sounds like so much fun. I can just hear the laughing children.

    Maxine, I hope we hear some good news from you soon.

    Peg..I'll pray it is nothing.  Things like this always seem to surface when we don't expect it. 

    Nicole...that's a great way to handle a MIL.  And you always know they treat you that way deliberately.

    Lynnel...sorry about your cat...at least you know he had a wonderful life with you.

    Tina...did you get the results of the gene test?

    Well, everyone else...sorry I've been away so long.  My last semester at the college I teach at was not a fun semester.  I don't know why, but I really had a hard time dealing with the nonsense the students love to hand out.  My new semester has started--here's hoping it's better.  I went for my first colonoscopy...fun.  Really, the prep day was awful, but I don't remember the actual procedure as they put me under.  But I did have a little trouble with the anestheasia (sp??)...guess my heart rate dropped a little too much.

    Well, I simply wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  May this one be the best yet!!! (And yes, I'm still working on fixing up this farm I bought...what a lot of SLOW, hard work...but that's okay...it keeps me going!!!)

    Oh Peg, I really hope it is nothing!  Probably benign is such a worrying phrase.   To us it translates to something else to worry about.  Won't it just be easier to get the MRI and put your mind at ease?  Hope it works out.....

    Janet, good to hear from you again!  Isn't a colonoscopy weird!! Freaks me out completely.  Good luck with the farm....

    my good vibes and thoughts continue. Sounds more positive than negative but just like yours, mine (IDC) didn't show up either.

    What is it that they saw? Calcifications or a mass? Grrrrr....I am so jumpy about everything, it must be hell for you waiting for more info...it would be for me.....for everybody....I feel we are all "just" a MRI/CT/PET away from a bad diagnosis when we go in for check ups.

    Hang in there!!! Let us know what happens.

    Hi - we have every right to be jumpy and I think if it puts your mind at rest Peg, request the MRI.

    I think that is why they gave me an MIR on my head yesterday, simply to put my mind at rest - I don't think there is anything they will be able to do about the ‘pneumatic drill in the distance' noise I am getting, I am going with what is being suggested, that nerve endings may have been damaged by the treatment (chemo) - will get results in 2 weeks (is).

    Where are you Maxine?

    My life is starting to get really busy workwise again - I think I am OK with it - doing some teaching around my admin job.

    Got a sibling wedding in Cyprus this year (May) - busy planning a theatre trip (Dirty Dancing) to London for a group of 12 (April) - sort of pre-wedding thing for daughter - enjoying the organising of this.

    HI all... time to bump us up. As we roll into year 3, I am so sorry that so many of us are still anxious. Please let us know how your tests come out.

    My kid is back in London and loving this term's classes. I will go to London in March to visit. [Very annoying that BA published lower fares today.]

    Sandra, any chance you are coming down to London during the week of March 3rd?

    I am in London from March 3 - 11th, with a possible side-trip to Paris. We are staying near [or in] Russell Square, right near our daughter's flat. The Paris trip is getting less and less likely the closer we get.

    Hi ladies

    Sorry to worry you all, I have had a bone scan, and its all clear !!

    Also had blood tests for antineuronal antibodies and that came back normal, so i'm still no closer to a diagnosis.

    The next step, is to see a neurologist again, from Southampton.  He comes to the island once a month, the specialist here is going to write to him, hopefully on Monday.  I'm hoping he will ask to see me in Southampton, as he isnt due back here until 15th February.

    Sorry to have been absent....it has been an interesting few weeks. I finally got back my test results and I am NEGATIVE for both genes.

    I have been busy getting back in the swing of things at work and also I had my 38th birthday on the 19th. I am so greatful to have had another one! We did not do much but did go to have lunch in San Antonio with old friends and then took in "the bucket list". Even though it kind of hit hard (the two main actors morgan freeman and jack nicholson have cancer) it was a very good movie.

    Not sure if I shared ...we rescued another dog....Winston...and he is a 4 year old st. bernard!

    One more good thing.... my husband got notified yesterday he got a 150,000 job he bid on (about 100,000-110,000 profit!). His business is ramping up (it appears the rich are still building houses in Austin, tx!). He said it should take about 2 months to get started and another 3-4 months to finish. This is just one job of many as he has sold another 100,000 or so smaller jobs.

    I am finally starting to feel a little better and will be returning to a full work week on feb 4th. I am looking forward to some "normal"!

    I am glad everyone is doing well....will post more later...
