I had thought initially I would keep my port for about 6 months but now I think I will talk to my doctor on the 13th and see if they will remove it. I am getting tired of anything "CANCER" related. I am also wanting to finally get off some of the meds for the neurapathy. They pain is decreasing now that I am two months out of herceptin. I have dropped my mid day meds for the most part and that is a good thing.
I am not really finding any anxiety about the cancer and it returning at this point and just trying to get back to a more "normal". I am still not able to drive and that is driving me totally NUTS.
Take care all...

It seems like things are looking up all over.
Great news Maxine! You can breathe a little easier, but you still need some answers! I hope you get them in the coming weeks.
Good news from you, too, Tina!
Congratulations on your husband's job and the neg. results of your gene study.
I was thrilled when my port was taken out. My onc was recommending that I keep it a little longer, but my feelings of well being increased when it was gone.
As for my mammogram... my gyn requested the films, so that she could take a look and saw...nothing!
She said the radiologist gave it the Category 3 designation to make sure I had a follow up in 6 months...DUH! I have to reschedule my onc appt. but I'm not worried.
Susan and Sandra, I hope you will be able to meet up in London. What a great opportunity.
Be well!

Sandra,
I am going to send a PM... but I just bought tickets for something else on Thursday. I can do Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday..... How cool would this be????
*susan*
-
Peg,
Are you serious? This radiologist should be hanged by their toes from a tall building. You simply don't do this crap to a cancer survivor. On the other hand, great to hear that you don't need to worry.
*susan*
-
Peg,
I hate when medical professionals "play" with our lives like they do! I am so glad it turned out to be nothing. I am also very glad about my husbands business! We have several projects we want to do this year and this will allow us to do it!
We are in the process of negotiating a deal with a couple who have been married 61 years (in march). They live on 45 acres and really do not want to move but want someone close "just in case". Or instead of running to the store 15 miles away have us pick it up on the way home. We are going to buy the 45 acres and give the couple a "life estate". This will allow them to live out their days in their home while getting a mortgage payment so they can make ends meet a little better. This is going to be a win-win for all of us.
Maxine,
Keep going until you find out what is wrong or that you are satisfied with what they are telling you. You know your body the best and know something is wrong.
I agree with Peggy, it would be wonderful for Susan and Sandra to be able to meet even if its just over a meal....have a great time!
calico,
good luck with your Pet scan!

Good News Peg!!
Tina, I am so happy for you and hubby!! And the new farm!! A very exciting time! So glad to hear you are feeling better as well....
I am well. My son has settled in really nicely at his new school. All the problems his previous school has complained about has disappeared!! Says a lot! His play therapist also thinks we can start winding her visits down, since he has changed completely. He started Karate yesterday, and is enjoying the excercise and discipline. A huge relief for us.... He has started verbalising his feelings as well, and surprise me every day with his insight and compassion. He truly is an amazing boy...
I hope you are all well. It is very hot here - going into our hottest month now.

Anyone else in the London area on 8 March - Maxine ?? I have now booked and hopefully will meet up with Susan.
Unfortunately my hubby cannot come with me that weekend, but I am not worried about being in London on my own - I am treating myself to an overnight stay to ensure I am able to meet up with Susan sometime over the weekend. I am traveling down on the morning of 8 March. Whilst there I am going to take some bits and bobs to the restaurant I am taking a group of 12 to on 19 April - sort of pre-wedding trip for my daughter, we are staying overnight and seeing Dirty Dancing - I am working on a black/gold theme and want the restaurant to add some bits and bobs to the table in this color - I am making theatre (or party) bags up following this color theme also - bit different from the pink hen party stuff - my daughter is quiet so I have got to keep it low-key.
Anyway, we are all not doing so badly of late and that is great - look forward and never back girls.
Speak soon.

Liezel,
I am so happy to hear your little one is doing so much better these days! I know the extra added stress when our little ones ( and I don't care how old they become...mine are now 15 and 17 and we still have our moments).
Susan and Sandra,
I think it is so wonderful that the two of you are going to get to meet! I have met so many wonderful people through this horrible disease. One just never knows....
It is so hot here tonight I had to get up and turn on the AC! It was 81 today and still in the mid 70's at 10 pm. It was a record today and they are predicting more of it tomorrow night.
I am starting back to 40 hours and for the first time in a couple months I am haveing a hard time sleeping. I know it will be ok but when the boss says we will gradually add back hours from 27 to 40 over 4-6 weeks and then with springs it on you one week before that you are going back to 40 all at once it does add some anxiety. She is not the easiest boss to deal with but I thank god every day that I have a decent job and good health insurance. I remember the days when I had no health insurance and I was just starting my journey. We all will be fast approaching our 3rd anniversary!
Take care and God Bless all my september sisters!

Hi all,
just a quick Hi, will follow up tomorrow after PET results....
awwww....why does one have to be so scared....why can't I just say "kiss my %#@*" everything will be fine...??? Why do we have lung nodules and hip pain??
I hate cancer and what it does to our life...
Please think of me tomorrow.
God BLess
-
Good Luck Calico. Thinking of you and hoping you will be able to say those words after the results.
-
Calico,
your in my thoughts and prayers. Have you thought about counceling for your fear that it will come back?
For other reason my husband and I go to a family therapist ever couple of weks and she has helped with my fear. I believe in gettng the help one needs and not letting it go.
tina
-
Hi guys,...or girls....:))
Lung nodule is stable, so I'm done with check ups on that but they found a bone spot, that also has been there for two years, likely to be nothing, it lit up a little.
Tina,
I went to see a therapist but to reiterate my fear every week made it worse. he just said to think positive thoughts.....I am working out a lot and most of the time that helps but my anxiety I think is based on my missed mammo and the loss of faith in the medical (radiology) community (DD's tumor could have been found wayyy earlier before it destroyed her hip...).
Will try to concentrate on positive, looking forward to spring so much.
Thanks for thinking of me.
Hope, everybody is okay?
We haven't seen Maxine or Leanne posting in a while.
Liezel,
great that your son is doing better!
Susan and Sandra,
I hope that meeting will happen and I would love to see pictures.
God Bless

I'm so glad everyone is coming in here with great reports...
Peggy...oh how frustrating...and wonderful. I'm sure you feel a tremendous relief.
Tina...wonderful! 45 acres?! So what will you do with it? Horses are my favorite, lol!
Liezel, glad your son is adjusting. My daughter is much, much older...20...but this past summer she actually opened up to me. During my treatment she didn't treat me that well, and it was her first year away from college. I guess she had difficulty as the spotlight was no longer on her. Well we had quite the heart to heart and a lot of tears and pretty much cleared the air. Growing up is so hard, especially when someone you count on and hold dear has their life in limbo.
Well, I can't stay but a few minutes and I need to post a question on the lymphedema thread. Seems I've discovered that my swelling (and pain) flared up when I quit taking antihistamines. Hmm...wonder if there is a correlation.
Take care everyone! Think about you, pray for you all! Janet

Bump...I'm trying really hard to get back to this site more often. I still find this format a little more difficult to navigate.

Hi all - nothing sinister to report from my brain MRI.
Definitely going to London so I reckon I wil be seeing Susan - I will let her decided when and where as she has her family to consider also - would love to meet them too. Will take lots of photos to show you.
I have been really busy of late - working more hours than I intended - soon get back into bad ways - I find being really busy takes your mind of other things npt tjhe answer though, I know.

Sorry about all the typos in my post above - could get back to amend.

Sandra,
Will send some emails about schedule. I am thinking the two of us have a lovely dinner together on Saturday.... I am sending the kid and the husband off on their own. And trust me, you don't want to meet my extended family.
I am so busy this week that I haven't even imagined this vacation. Can't wait to get excited. Good news is, being wildly busy means I can afford a few meals in London!
*susan*
-
Sandra,
congrats on MRI results.
Susan, you both enjoy your dinner, wish I could go too!
God Bless
-
Hi all,
Congrats on all those clear scans.
Would love to be in London enjoying a meal and fine company...Please know we are all there with you in spirit.
I am doing well, busy busy.
Love to all

Just want to say HI!
I'm fine except that I'm sick of winter!
It looks like the same weekend that Susan and Sandra are meeting in London, there will be a BC.org get together here in NY. If any of you might be in this neck of the woods that weekend, check it out in the Get Together forum.
I hope you're all doing well.
Take care,
Peggy -

Well today I am off to the surgeon today to find out when they are taking out my port! I am getting excited to get this part of this ordeal past me!
How many of you had it removed in the office or in twilight sleep?
Tina
-
Tina,
I never had a port, but I am sure some of the sisters will be by soon enough to tell you their stories. You must be delighted!!!!
Yea!
*susan*
-
Bye Bye Port!
Taking it out is MUCH less traumatic than putting it in. Mine was taken out in the doctor's office. It went very fast and what a relief to be rid of it!
Peggy -
Tina,
had local injection with "take out" only but in a surgical suite.
Peggy,
nice avatar!!
We have a few sisters MIA, hope they report soon.
God Bless
-
Hello all - thankfully nothing to report.
I was thinking - almost 3 years on and we all have 'nothing to report' so to speak - I hope that (sure it is) it is the same for our sisters who no longer visit the boards. Anyway, this is good and should heighten our spirits, shouldn't it?

I know better then submitting without saving what I wrote...but got in a hurry...LOL
Port is coming out friday the 29th...Leap year...I will never forgot that date!
We are finalizing all the details on the new farm.... it is getting very exciting!
