First of all, Sue you have me in tears - I can just picture you standing at the stove stirring you wig in a pot!!! OMG, that is just the funniest thing.
. Lisa's care instructions were spot on, please listen to her!! LOL.
Shirlann - My God, I had no idea ring worm was so involved!! You poor thing, here you go and do a nice thing and this is what happens. I hope when this is all behind you that kitty eventually brings you pure joy.
Poppy - don't even get me started on younger kids in the workplace. I swear, they just don't care!! I hope you are enjoying your vodka.
Lisa - I still have my wig and its been a year for me. Its sitting on top of a duck decoys head in our computer room!! lol. I just can't seem to part with it.
Well I'm off to walk my pooches, I'll check in later.
Hugs to all,
Valerie

Hi Sue
! You "boiled" your wig? I won't ask why. Were you thinking of bootface and dicided to take it out on your wig?! You crack me up...
I have learned sooo many new words from you! I love it. "I got my cob on ", yeaaaaa.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! , STOP lifting things. Make the young studlees at work do it. Thats what their there for. Your the boss , do your stuff. I like Dr. Chan! Uppin' the anti-Ds. Good for him.
Thanks Sue for the jolly brussel sprouts card! How cute is that! Hope you had a nice relaxing bath.xxxx
Shirlann , look at the bright side. Your house is sparkling clean. You don't have to have Christmas at your house this year. You can go to their house , help mess it up for the holiday , and then go back to your squeeky clean humble abode. Hey , I bet the cat rescue lady will NEVER call you again!lol Oh Shirlann , you have to give Walt a BIG hug and do something nice for him. What a guy! A big hug to you Shirlann. In a year your will be holding your little sweetpea , telling her all the stuff you had to go through for her. And this will just be a bad memory.xxxx
Poppy , givem hell tomorrow!xxxx
Wren , thanks for the lovely blessing. Its beautiful. I am sorry about your MIL. She sounds like she was a real blessing. Angels and white , healing lights , all year around. Sounds good to me!xxxx
Hi Lisa , hope you had a great day off yesterday. Did you run? You go girl , get in that zone!xxxx

Hello Miss Melody!
Did you have a good day at work? My day off was great...got allot accomplished. Then last night...my girlfriend had 4 of us over to her beautiful home for a wodnerful Christmas dinner. I can't even begin to describe how special it was! We all toasted one another, and expressed how very blessed and grateful we were to have each other. I of course got all choked up when it was my turn. It really was a magical evening..then she sent us home with gifts! I love my friends..I am a blessed woman!!
Yes...I am still running my 3 miles. I go at least 4 times a week. I am trying to get in the zone...haha...best that I can.
Is everyone ready for Christmas? I have some baking and wrapping yet to do. I am entertaining at my house on the 17th...so trying to get ready for that too.
Wishing all of my wonderful friends here a relaxing evening!
xoxo

Melody, Here we never know what to expect. Friday we had ice on the cars in the morning with low temps about 30. Monday, tues, and Wed we are having unseasonably high temps in the middle 70's. I actually went shopping last night without a coat. The ski resorts just up the mountains from me (30 min drive to the closest) wish that it would turn cold and stay cold so that they can make their snow. They opened up for Thanksgiving, we had a cold snap then but it warmed up so much that the snow they made melted and they can't make any more. I looked at my perpetual calendar where I write down important stuff year to year and in 2004 and 2005 we had an ice storm on Dec 4. Usually we get the worst part of the winter weather in Jan or Feb but if it snows it usually is gone in a day or two.

Sue, The ice is in the midwest I live in the southeast in one of the coast states and they are saying the ice storm be a 7-10 day event. The storm is over but it may take that long for the power to be turned back on and some of the people may still be in the emergency shelters at the schools during Christmas. The problem is they may get the power turned on in an area but the ice is breaking the trees and taking the power lines back down.
-
Gosh Sheila.....that is terrible....mother nature is an amazing force.....I do like weather but it is so sad when it affects peoples' lives like that...
I was just thinking about the US being vast.....I went to Florida in 1993 .....we stayed in marriot on internationl drive...we travelled to Kennedy Space centre to see the shuttle take off....it was the most amazing experience....I absolutely would love to take my boys there...
In 2000 I helped my dad do the family tree....his grandfather moved over to US leaving his wife behind...we never found out why....but he died in a road accident in Wyoming....we managed to trace him living there...and believe it or not my dad flew out a couple of years ago in search of the unmarked grave and actually found it....we have relatives who live in Utah!!! The pictures my dad took are amazing and he so wants to go back there...I am not sure if he will make it...they hired a motorhome for 2 weeks and travelled many miles.... I was so pleased to have helped my dad to find my great grandad....and learn so much about my family a hundred years ago
I just wanted to relate and its so nice to talk of things like this xxx
-
Sheila when you say ice storm do you mean it rains ice...I have never heard of this before xx
-
Sue.
An ice storm is actually freezing rain. But it is sooo cold it freezes and sticks to everything in the form of ice. It gets so heavy on the trees that it snaps the branches right off. It also rests on the power lines and winds up snapping them as well. Thats why so many people are without power. On the street its like an ice rink - cars literally slide down the street.
Its pretty to look at but horrible to live through.
Back to work I go,
Valerie
-
I saw on the news that the salt trucks with chains on the tires were even sliding on the ice.
(salt truck - dump truck loaded with salt and spreader to distribute the salt on the ice to melt it)
I am originally from Ohio where they are getting part of this storm but not the brunt of it. I love living in the south. They did say that this past monday was the first time the temps reached 80 in December. Our normal high is middle 50's, normal low is middle 30's for this time of the year.

I remember one ice storm several years ago here in Western Washington. You'd go outside and all you could here was the snap, snap, snapping of tree limbs snapping off and falling from the trees. It was pretty wild. Driving in it was extremely scary.
Yes, Sue, I'll be doing radiation following my chemo. 33 sessions plus a couple of boosters to my tumor site. Hopefully, I'll be completely done with treatments by the end of March. The fatigue you're experiencing is absolutely normal. After my second round of chemo, I had it really bad. It was a type of tired that I'd never experienced before---a deep down in your bones type of tired. I can't imagine going to work feeling that way. You are incredible!
Love and hugs to everyone,
Karen
-
Hi Sue
! Yes , yes , yes. Absolutely ,100% chemo makes you more tired than you have ever been in your life! I remember crying , and telling my SO that I didn't think I would ever feel energy again. I truly believed it at that time. Nothing in my life ever made me feel as bad as chemo. I literally felt half dead. But when it was over , my energy is back , unfortunately my appitite , and I feel as good as ever. And thats why we went through it before you and Karen and anyone else , so we can reassure you it gets better when your done. So cry , whine , get mad. Its OK. We did all that too. Just remember you will feel better after chemo.xxxxx
wow Sheila , I didn't realize you can have severe winter weather there.
An x-Ohioan!
I did live in Tennessee for five years. I just couldn't take the hot , hot summers! My mom and sister and her family still live there. I talked to them Sunday and they said it was near 80! And I like the change of seasons here in Ohio. But I DON'T like the ice storm that is coming tonight! I might just have a snow day off of work tomorrow.
Ha ha Karen and Sue , I got to see the picture of Lisa first na na na na na na!!! She does look so pretty. Hurry home Lisa. I hope you had a safe trip.
Oh Sue , that is fasinating about great grand-pop. I would love to do a family tree. I know I have relatives in England and Hungary.
How is your dad feeling? I hope all is going well with him.
-
I'm sure our Sue is sound asleep. Either that, or she's boiling her wig again!!!
Sleep tight, Dorothy

I do not know what I would do without this thread. First of all Sue, you nut, OF COURSE chemo makes you tired, most gals can't make both legs and arms work at the same time, let alone get out of bed! And you are WORKING!!!! Most of us would be UNDER the bed, if we were accomplishing what you are, they would interview us for SUPERWOMAN.
Ah my dear Melody! You are so right! I was sitting on my tush, in the garage, with my sweet little kitty on my lap, and I thought, what the heck am I upset about! No one will come near us, I cancelled Christmas dinner, we are all going out, hahahaha, the best Christmas ever~~
I love all you lovely women, I wish we all were together in a snow lodge, with a big fire, and an egg nog in each hand, kids, gifts, trees, husbands, in-laws, all far, far away, with nothing but a single bed with a huge down quilt waiting for us!!!!! Maybe this is a plan????
Love you all, and Sue, for God's sake, slow down and sit down and just maybe take a break in front of the fire for a few minutes. I can see you were a dynamo, it is easier to get breast cancer if you are a couch potato to begin with!
Hugs, and hugs, and hugs, Shirlann
-
Hi gals,
Just a quick HELLO and hugs to all. I'm sorry that I haven't been checking in much this week. Trying to get the Christmas shopping done while I'm feeling remotely human. Next treatment is on Monday, Dec. 17 and I know I will be down for the count, so it must get done now! My son's birthday is on Monday, too, so we are going to celebrate on Sunday with family. Need to get organized for that, as well.
So much to do and just trying to cram it all in to 1 week...but you all know how that feels, 'cause you are women!
I wish I could come to help you all on the weeks when you are feeling crummy. I'm so blessed to have a great husband AND my mom to take care of my kids when it's my turn for a crummy couple of weeks. And after my last treatment, the mom's from school each took a turn bringing dinner each night (desserts and all!)
Sue...you're boys can come over to my house to play Guitar Hero with my boys anytime, and Portia can come over too and chase Shirlann's kitty around the house.
Someday we will get to meet each other...
-
Oh, that was sweet, I know, it is hard to believe we are all so far apart. Dang it! If I was Bill Gates, we would all spend a week in a lovely resort, bring whomever you want! Would'nt that be fun? I would get to see you all, hug you still you stopped breathing.
Ah, dreams, I will buy a Lottery Ticket.
Thanks, Mamma Mia, Shirlann
-
Dorothy, Dorothy (in my best Aunty Em voice) - WHERE ARE YOU???
Hope you are sleeping the day away.
Shirlann - not sure about the ski lodge, how about an island somewhere??? LOL.
More later,
Valerie
