Lisa , how do you wear your hair? Is it long enough to style? I think I am going to try some gel and see what it does. It is just soooo short. If I put it between my fingers from the scalp , it does come up above my fingers. I just wish it was long enough to cut and style...
-
Mel,
That is all the longer mine is!! Really...I had my hairdresser trim it up and give it a style with what was there. It looks good...just add a little Putty (hair sculpting) and that's it. The color helped soooo much...it's a med/brown, with a hint of red. It's very short..but sassy! Do it...you will be happy you did. I can't tell you how good I feel now.
-
Your right Lisa , I think coloring it will help sooo much. I have always colored my hair. So this "salt and pepper" look is making we feel old and blah! I have hair on the back of my neck I was thinking should be cut or shaved. But I don't want to look like a guys cut. And it makes me feel like my hair is longer when I feel it. lol , I'm so strange. I crack me up...
-
you crack me up too!! haha...I was a little worried about looking like a "guy", but after he shaped it up, and cut it around the ear area, and a little bit of the spikey bang up front (very short of course), it looked so much better. After the color, then I realized how very thick it had come in. The grey made it look less full. Trust me...this was a real positive move for me! I love not having the wig on! I play up my eyes more with make-up, and put on some great earrings..and I don't feel or look like a guy!!
-
I know. It is probably just me. Cause at the grocery store the past two months I noticed mothers telling there children , move and let the "lady" through! I wanted to hug them and say "thats right I really am a woman!lol
-
So are you not wearing a scarf or hat or wig now? You can do this! You have a very pretty face..nobody will mistake you for a man!! haha.
I have to tell you though, after my mastectomy in October..I was very pale, and not much hair at all, and one of the young volunteers called me sir!! I said...ummm...that would be mamm..she felt so bad..I told her not to worry about it. But that hurt!! haha.
-
lol...I love you all...Karen...we are all the bestest of the best strongest friends on this earth....under the same sky...living and supporting each other every step of the way....aquintances lololol...
Ok I ate my chips...same as in fish and chips...but minus the fish...not fries but big chips...wrapped in paper...with a lovely tub of gravy...the chips were covered in salt and vinegar....and I shared a few with Zippy...hahaha
I am having meltdowns tonight about dying...same as last treatment...at least it is normal...lol...I dunt want to die...I am whaling in my head.....
I love life...and I have so many plans to meet up with everyone...and high five until our hands catch fire...hahaha
Well I can't believe how quick time goes...this time last week I chopped my hair off...blimey ...how do we every catch our breath!!
Well I am going to lay my head on the pillow...and think of nice things!!
Much Love xxx

Oh my , chips with vinegar , I WANT SOME!!!!!! I just love potatoes , any kind and breads. There is nothing more satisfying that starches!.lol
I haven't wore a scarf since Oct. 19th! I just couldn't anymore. And my friends said that it was long enough to go without one.I am so sorry someone called you sir. I can imagine how that hurt. You are a beautiful lady , I'm sure that won't happen again.Lisa , have fun at the party!
-
Hey , I just thought , England has "Boxing day and Canada? How come the USA doesn't!?! Thats it. I am starting a petition. I want another day off too!lol
-
POTATOES.....I AM THE COOKIE MONSTER OF POTATOES! HAHA...could eat them all the time.
Oh...that comment was not to bad. It was a young person at the hospital. I know I looked bad. I felt bad for her, because I could tell she was mortified! So, Melody..did you ever wear a wig? Go for the haircut and color...you will be happy you did!
I will have fun, just not staying long. I worked yesterday from 5:30am until 4pm, then went to my girlfriends house at 6pm till 11pm..four of us made homemade pizza's..20 of them!! yum!!
So..I am very tired today. Glad I am off tomorrow.
-
I wore my wig , perhaps , 4 times. It was sooo uncomfortable for me. So I just wore scarves.
20 pizzas!?! Wow. Thats another of my weaknesses! I bet they were good. Where are they having your holiday party? My work use to have it at a party center. But now they just have it at work , and have it catered. This year it is being catered by Boston Market. I have never had their food. I hope its good. Our party is the 13th.
-
I mostly only wore my wig at work. But I am glad to be done with it!
Yes..20! We each kept 5, packaged them and froze them. It's an old Italian recipe, all they have on them are onions and cheese. So they are in my freezer, for whenever I need them. It was nice of my friends...the 2 of them paid for all of it! Refused any money from me or my other friend! They are so much fun!
Our party this year is at a party center. I have never been there, it's about a 15 min drive in the opposite direction of my home. Before they had it at a restaurant right by the airport. I think it's a variety of appetizers. I have only had Boston Market one time. I forget what I had, but I do remember I liked it. This is a tough time to diet..but I am trying. I have a dinner on the 10th, then I am hosting a gathering of friends for an ornament exchange at my house on the 17th, then another party on the 23rd, then Christmas eve and day.....never ends..haha.
-
I know what you mean. I am just being careful of what I eat until after the holidays. Then I will get down to some serious dieting and exercise.
Lisa , it sounds like you have some fantastic friends. An ornament exchange party sounds like so much fun! Oh , did you find a car ornament for your daughter? If not , there is a Christmas specialty shop here that has all kinds of ornaments. If you would like , I will check it out for a car ornament.
-
My dear Mel...you are so sweet! I feel like you are one of my fantastic friends! How nice of you to offer to look for that ornament! I am touched. but, yes...I did find one. I found several that I needed at World Market. Do you have those stores near you? I love it..very cool. The car is like a vw bug..but I don't care...it's a car. I found a train for my grandson..he loves trains.
I have held a cookie exchange at my home for probably 12 yrs or so, but I have not held it since my divorce 5 yrs ago. Well..this year..I thought, I needed to resurrect it...my friends have been so supportive and wonderful to me. So...instead of doing the cookie exchange...I put on the invitations..."save the calories" it's an ornament exchange! Should be fun! I make allot of appetizers, we eat drink, laugh, enjoy the holiday music etc.
-
I love that "save the calories". Oh , your quite welcome. I am glad you found one. I know what its like to be looking for something special and can't find it. No , we don't have a World Market. Sounds awesome.
Hey , do you make any unique appetizers? I'm always looking for a new recipe.
-
One of the favorite's is my stuffed mushrooms (no meat) and also bacon wrapped water chestnuts..very good, also a zucchini one..very different, but yummy, artichoke dip. Trying a few new ones this year that I found. A few of my friends are bringing some this year, to help me with the expense. I usually serve 10 different ones.
If any sound good, and you want recipes..Ill email them to you.
-
I have to try bacon wrapped water chestnuts. It sounds so good. But I never made them. What is the zucchini one? I love zucchini.
-
bacon one is great and really easy! The sauce is brown sugar and ketchup. The zucchini has parmesian cheese and I think bisquick...I have not made it in awhile, but it's good. I love zucchini too! I can email the recipes to you...you may have to remind me though!! haha
Ok..heading off to the restroom to put on something a little more party like!
-
Have a great time Lisa. You deserve it! Yes , I will remind you of the rescipes. I will deffinately make them this Christmas eve. Thanks!xxxx Melody

Hey gals, the guys are exactly like a bunch of roosters in one pen. They warily strut around each other, sniffing, waiting to see what is happening, very suspicious that one of the other roosters will get their hen(s).
No, I know that some men develop very long, strong and solid relationships with other men. Lifelong, in some cases. But for most men, we are it. They just don't have the mental wiring women have.
We are instantly close. Whether it is the total lack of competition, or just a difference in the way we were made, who knows? But it is interesting to me that elephants live in totally matriarchal societies. The head female runs the show, period. And they stay together all their lives. They have sons, and they let them stay in the herd until they are about 15, then they run them off. I wonder why? haha
Bears have nothing to do with males, only to mate. Lions live in mother, sister, aunt groups. The males are just for sex. Then, out they go.
I think it is the competition. Men are hard-wired to be competitive with each other. We are not.
Anyway, I never wanted to be a man. I love all of my sisters, and, while it is easy for me to say, since I am a long ways past treatment, this cancer was almost worth it for the relationships I have formed with so many women. My, we are quite a wonderful group. To hear the heartfelt thoughts, the love, the kindness, every day, makes me proud to be a woman.
Enough sappy stuff. But I really mean it. All of us love our Sue, and we never have met her. But she needs us, and that is enough. I think any of us would walk through fire for her, if she needed it. How wonderful.
And Sue, at work of course, or, trying to sleep. Poor darling. I wish we could all live in a big motel-like place, fix her meals, watch the boys, help her when she is scared. But thank God for this Internet. What a blessing. My my, we are so lucky.
Well, that's all the preaching for one day!
I so love you all, Shirlann -
Hi Shirlann...hope to see you tomorrow!!! We had lots of rainbows in Bonita today!!
-
I agree. God bless us all. I'm so grateful for the companionship.
-
Hi SoCalLisa! I've seen your posts and it good to see you here. You get to see Shirlann tomorrow!?! I am so jealous! Shirlann , you are wonderful and I wish Ohio wasn't soooo far away from Calif.! You ladies have fun tomorrow.
Hi Wren , yes I am so grateful too. Hope all is well with you.
Shirlann , you hit the nail right on the head about men.
-
