Post Chemo Spa & Shape Up

Hello All,
I've been slammed at work with no time to post; am taking a little "lunch break" now. Thanksgiving was good. Of course, ate too much as well. Overdid it a bit, as I joined Jenny Craig again, so ate pretty much what I wanted until I started the diet on Monday. I just want to nip in the bud, as I feel my will power slipping away with cookies in the office, etc. I think I've already lost 3 lbs. yippee. Got to get to the gym. I am thinking of buying a used Bow Flex. I just can't seem to get into the weights at the gym. Tomorrow is my 6-month onc appt. and am dreading going in there for some reason. Just memories I guess.
Mizsissy, thanks for the webpage - your hard work is appreciated. I cannot see Dottie's pics, though. hmm. How is the diet coming? I am sure you are doing great.
Dottie - Way to go at the gym! That abs and glutes class sounds like a lot of tough fun! Exactly what I need. Have fun at Curves, I've known some ladies who did the program who loved it.
Cathy - how is that Wally Doodle? Keeping you on your toes if he is anything like my pup was! wow. What color are you doing your baseboards?
Mary - "Feed Me" sounds fabulous. Yum yum. I've never been to NOLA; maybe one day. I am glad to hear your hair is filling in.
Hi Carol, Casey, hope you guys are doing well!
Raye
-
Wow Raye, that was a quick response...maybe a few seconds after I posted!!! Great to see you and even better to know that you're losing your party pounds. We all hope to join you on the down side soon.
The old shared Google documents we had were moved to our "group" and now are "pages" that belong to the group. If you login to your Google account, and select groups, then select Spa & Shapeup group, you should see a page that lists all the members and the pages. There are two pages. One for stats and one for hair photos.
Mizsissy
-
Yes! I think we were posting at the same time. When I try to get into the group, I receive this message "You cannot view the group's content or participate in the group because you are not currently a member. Members must be approved before joining. You must be a member of this group to read its archive. "
I can get into the other two: the one with your hair pics and the old stats doc, but not the group.
Thanks - any help would be appreciated!
Raye
-
OK, we fixed Raye's problem. Your email address that I use for the group has to match the email address you use to sign up for your Google account. OR..it can be your Google email.
WooHoo...I have some good news to report. I'm already down 2 1/2 pounds since BEFORE Thanksgiving, so I'm back in the 120s territory again!!!

Raye and Miz-Congrats on the weight loss!
I have not had any sugar since Monday. It's funny. I stopped craving after the first couple of days.

Hi ladies!
Sorry to be out of the loop for a while.
I was glad to read that everyone seems to have a good turkey day. Mary, your meal in New Orleans sounds wonderful. I had one of the best meals of my entire life at a place called The Bistro in the French Quater; grouper with israeli couscous in a cherry reduction. l tend to be a fast eater but I found myself eating slowly, savoring the texture as well as the flavor of the food.
Ray and Mizzy, great going on the weight loss.
Barry and I went to the beach for thanksgiving, bought our turkey on the way down and didn't actually cook it until Sunday. We had a nice time although it was too rough to take the boat out. I did get in a couple of rides, the effect of which was completely negated by joining friends for drinks Saturday and the turkey dinner on Sunday.
I now have a head cold so between that and a serious crisis at work I have not managed to do much exercise.
My colleague's fiance became ill last week and long story short, he developed a rare bacterial infection that has destroyed both heart valves. He is only 35 and well, you can imagine.....
He was transfered to the Cleaveland Clinic last night and they plan to replace the valves. In attempt to keep it light we told him he would do anything to get out of the company Christmas party.
Well, I'm tired, having way to many hot flashes and the insomnia is simply exhausting. I am going to try to go back to sleep.
Take care.

Hi everybody:
I spent yesterday getting into the holiday spirit and it was so much fun.....shopping, that is. I've been on the prowl for a Nintendo wii for my son and have been confronted with all the stores being out of stock. I walked into the mall yesterday and thought I'd check at Gamestop and they were forming a line because they'd received a shipment. What luck!!!! I was sixth in line and elated that I got it. I just love the thrill of the hunt. Mary, I like to shop online, too. If I can't be at the mall, I'm online!!!!
I've been walking with my friend but haven't been working out with the weights afterwards. I need to get with the program!
Hope everyone is well and as soon as things slow down for me I'll post my pix on Mizsissy's document. My son has a birthday party today.
Take care,
Cathy

Happy Saturday, women.
Casey, I am so bummed to hear about all the trouble you are going through with your colleague. That heart problem sounds really ominous and I can't imagine the angst that you and iyour colleague are going through. We will pray for them. Did you know that Puppy has the same problem?
Insomnia can be very debilitating...I'm an old pro on the subject. I once went for three months sleeping only about 4 or 5 hours a week, but I managed to get past it. I would suggest taking a Benadryl at bedtime; that will get you at least a few hours. Prescription sleeping pills like Ativan are a good last resort because they really work, and it is important to sleep...but then you have to get off of them.
Please rest,, get better and keep us posted on how you are. Remember that Puppy isn't far away. Her computer is still not working.
Mary and Cathy...great to hear from you!!! Please update the dox with photos and stats so we can keep you in the loop. Cathy...I know what a big deal that birthday party is, I can't think of anything more exhausting than spending a couple of hours with a bunch of young boys!!!
I've had my share of crises too...I have learned about a number of women here who are friends who are very, very sick.
We've got a big winter storm coming today that is going to bring lots of snow and ice, so we've been battening down the hatches here. Bought a week's worth of groceries, have stocked up on canned goods and firewood, filled the tubs with water. If we lose electricity we'll lose communications, but we have a propane stove to cook on.
BTW, I got a haircut on Saturday. The shape now is much, much better but I feel naked, my hair is so darn short and my nice curly bangs have disappeared, so all you see now is wrinkles. My hair is straighter now than it was at first, but it's kind of wirey, like a terrier. So I am back to my turbans and even the fake bangs, and I don't know when I am going to want to post up-to-date pictures!!!
Luv ya all....

Casey - I am sorry to hear about your coworker - I hope he is doing better - any news? The Cleveland Clinic is a tremendous facility; they will take good care of him there.
Cathy - Glad to hear you like to shop! ugh, I just dread it. I've got a few things done, for which I am thankful for. Hope your Bday party went well.
Mizsissy - Haircut sounds cute! More manageable I am sure. I need to get mine cut, as the front looks a bit frizzy, but just hate the thought. Also, it is getting to be very hard to style it. I have been wearing a tiny ponytail in the back with all types of clips in it. Very professional, let me tell ya. I have a business trip next month, don't know what I am going to do.
Went for my 6-month checkup with onc last week. All was well, although I did get emotional while I was there. Crying in the room with the doc, she said "this isn't like you, you are always so up", but went on to explain that many pts get upset during follow up visits, due to the stress of being back in the onc office and the associations that go along with that.
Hope you all are well.
Raye
-
Raye,
I'm glad that all was well with your checkup. I think a good cry now and then is the best therapy.
My associate's fiance is doing well. (Sorry I spelled Cleveland wrong.) He underwent surgery yesterday. He had his mitral valve repaired and atrial valve replaced with doner tissue (let's here it for the organ/tissue doner!!!). She left a message tonight that he is extubated and complaining; no doubt well on the road to recovery. He may get out of the company christmas party but he won't get out of marrying her!
I still have a pain in the butt cold. I managed to ride my bike about 30 minutes yesterday at a sedate pace but tonight I just could not get motivated.
Mizzy,
I cannot imagine that level of insomnia!!!
I had insomnia during chemo. I took Ambien, then Ambien CR and found the latter wonderful until I went cold turkey because no one bothered to mention I should ween myself from them.
With hot flashes I took 10 mg of Valium every now and again but I am back to the Ambien CR 1-2 nights a week. I am at the point where drug addiction is preferable to not sleeping.
I hope everyone is beginning to have the Holiday spirit. It's already the second day of Hanuka and there are only 20 shopping days until Christmas!!!!
I am learning a song in Spanish for Christmas. I am hoping my tuneless singing won't sound quite so awful in a foreign language!
-
Hi ladies,
Not much news here, except our state looks like New Orleans all over again. I've never seen so much flooding in Wash... luckily nothing too close to home. Mizzy, I think our storm headed your way... Hope it didn't dump too much in your area.
I've been busy packing up DH ...sending him to Phoenix for a week with to golf with buddies. My sister and her DH are coming down from Anch for a couple days to go to the Seahawk game with me on Sunday. My fav sister of the five... looking forward to it! She had a breast scare last year in between my second and third surgery but her lump was calcification. yea.
Mary, glad your trip to NOLA was so fun! Still off sugar?
Cathy, I have friends looking for Wii here but all sold out... Happy b-day to RJ!
Raye, my trip to Onc last month was a teary one too, and she told me the same thing about "just being in the med office makes you think about mortality" ... so true!
Casey, hope you get some rest! I take one Trazodone (prescrip) maybe once a week, and sometimes an OTC version a second night...the rest of the nights are totally restless too...
BUT the good news -- I have been exercising regularly! I've been to Curves four times and go to spin & abs classes a couple times a week. I'm trying to cut out the alcohol but it's tough... especially this time of year... ugh. I also cut back Gabapentin (hot flash meds) from 2x per day to 1x so hope that weight gain will subside. I'd rather have the flashes than the pounds... What a struggle.
Carol, all well with you?
Hugs to all, Dottie.
-
Hi All!
Casey, Glad your friend is doing well after his surgery.
Cathy, hope the party went well. My daughter will be 11 in January, and I am trying to pin her down on what kind of party she wants.
Raye, Glad you survived your check up.
I had my three month check up on Tuesday. I started feeling queasy as I was leaving work. He did the ovarian cancer blood test which was normal. Now if I can just get those mamas out before they turn on me! I asked him about my hair and he was not very hopeful. Here's a quote that made me cry (but not until I had left the office). "Hmm. Yes. Your hair is on the thin side. That is not typical. Many patients find their hair comes in much thicker after chemo. From my experience, what you have one year after chemo ends is what you are going to get." That gives me about five months before I lose all hope. I am pretty depressed about it. I was always kind of vain about my hair- I used to have great hair. Is this my punishment for vanity? A lifetime of comb overs?
Dottie, congrats on the workouts. I have been lazy lately. I gained four pounds in the three months between office visits. I am very discouraged. I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted, and I guess those days are over. I am still off sugar and coffee, and my hot flashes are just about gone. (OK, I ate a Hostess Ding Dong yesterday-first one in years!)
I got to sleep in this morning because I drove in late last night from a meeting. I still have time to get my bald, flabby a$$ up and exercising before I go in to work.
Wishing you all a good night's sleep!

Hi All - I am copying and pasting this from another board I am on - I've missed chatting with you all - BTW how is BelindaJo? Has anyone heard from her?
Hi Everyone, I see i have tons of posts to catch up on and not sure
when I will be able to do it all. I don't know if you remember, but I
was going in for a hysterectomy on the 28th of November.
Unfortunately, I have had complications. It seems that the surgeon
perforated my bladder. I guess that complication is not all that
uncommon but when he went to repair the bladder he stitched my ureter
to it. I was sent home in excruciating pain (fucking nurses aids kept
telling me I had to push out more gas, I kid you not.) With my ureter
blocked, my kidney went into shutdown. I was re-admittted to the
hospital after 2 days and I now have a foley bag and a nephrostomy(?)
bag. One bag for each leg. Needless to say, I have been in a pretty
drug induced haze for the last week and a half and just now feel like
my head is clearing. I have to have both bags until Dec 17 when they
will try to use a guide wire to open the ureter and put in a stent.
They tried but were unsuccessful in the hospital. The hope is that
the swelling will go down and bladder will have healed and they will
be able to get it through. Otherwise, Not sure about the next step.
Anyway, I have missed you all and will try to catch up on the posts
over the next few days. I am really hoping to have most of this
situation resolved by Christmas. Cause, damn, it sure hard to get
shoes to match THESE bags! Carol -
Carol...
This is terrible news. We are so sorry to hear about everything you have been through, what a disaster!!!
So many women on these threads are ill now...Sierra, Slonedeb, Cy, others. Talked to Debbie this morning, and she is busy praying for all of you and so am I...
I have a good feeling that all will be healed and well soon!
Mizsissy

Hi everyone:
Glad everybody is reporting in. I've been wondering where everyone was. I have Belinda Jo's home phone # somewhere and will try to find it. I haven't seen her lurking anywhere on the boards and I haven't heard from her since she had computer problems.
Carol - I'm so sorry to hear about your complications!!! I will pray all goes well for you and you will be over this by Christmas. Sounds like you still have a bit of humor left despite everything.
Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. We're celebrating Hanukkah and several birthdays this weekend with friends. I'm trying to get my house decorated for Christmas but I still have a small plant shelf to paint. I think I will paint tomorrow or beg my DH to do so. I drug out some decorations for the yard today and have decorated my kitchen counter. We're getting a tree this p.m.
I've still been walking everyday but have been slack on lifting weights. I'm maintaining the weight but am thoroughly enjoying lots of dark chocolates everyday. Last night I had some wonderful pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!!!!
Take care everybody and stay in touch!
-
Carol, I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. I will be keeping you in my thoughts. Let's just assume that the swelling will go down, and all will be well. (And this is why doctors have malpractice insurance. Get 'em!)
Mary
-
Carol, I think you need a new surgeon...I am very, very concerned about what you went through. Sometimes we have to be very aggressive and advocate for ourselves. The way I found a good surgeon was the question the nurses at the Breast Cancer clinic...they all agreed on one man and he is terrific!!!
Maybe you have some similar channels you can work through.
Hi gals, nice to see all of you here. It's nice to be able to look forward to the holidays without having the chemos and surgeries to deal with. I can't even remember Christmas last year. And Carol, we're so sorry you have to deal with this now, but we are hoping that everything gets resolved BEFORE Christmas (hopefully with a *new* surgeon).
Cathy, how much fun that you get to celebrate Hannukah AND Christmas..!!!
Now girls, let's enjoy the holidays, but remember....don't overdo!! We don't need to overindulge to enjoy ourselves, and keep up the exercise. I actually enjoy being outdoors more in the winter because you can really work up a head of steam without getting a hot flash...also cold air is denser and contains much more oxygen. It's good for you!!
xxxooo Mizsissy
PS...talked to Puppy this AM...her latest tip. She says the best facial cream she knows of is Oil of Olay Regenerative...think I'll try some!!!
-
Oops...asked DH to buy me some Oil of Olay Regenerative at Kroger's today...he corrected me and told me that it is really called "Oil of Olay Regenerate." What is that telling me
!!!!
-
Wow Carol.
That just makes me angry.
Please take care if yourself. I hope you are feeling better.
Mary,
I am sorry to hear about the hair. I would like to know who actually got thicker hair out of the deal. You sure didn't, I didn't, Raye didn't and I remember my mom 28 years ago. Pre chemo she had thick, gorgeous auburn hair; post chemo she had wispy strawberry blond hair that later turned mousy brown.
Dottie,
Glad to hear that the fav sis is coming to visit and the workouts are going well.
I've been getting in a serious abdominal workout with all the coughing I have been doing. Other than that I've done one maintenance workout on my trainer and spent a couple hours doing yard work today. (It was at least 70 degrees, there were little midges flying all about and I saw a dandelion in bloom. ) Happily I have not been putting on any weight. I was at a shin dig last night and a woman asked me if I was a size 2. I was very flattered but told her no, I was a size 8 and it was amazing what a well cut pair of jeans and high heels can do for the leg. That's my holiday goal; that my jeans will still fit and my waist won't be hanging over my low rise jeans.
Mizzy,
I agree with Puppy about Oil of Olay but I really have not seen much difference in my skin with the regenerist vs regular lotions and so I stick with the less expensive regular lotion.
This week I'm meeting friends for dinner on Wednesday, shindig with friends on Thursday and Friday is the company Christmas party. Lots of fun, lots of food and drinks. I better be careful.
PS. My co-worker's fiance is doing much better. They replaced the aortic valve and repaired the mitral. He is still in the hospital because they need to culture his blood and make sure he no longer has an infection.
Take care ladies
-
Hi Casey...
Apparently I missed the info about your co-worker's fiance...my personal life has been chaotic lately and I've been a little preoccupied. I am so glad to hear that he's OK.
You know, our wonderful friend Puppy also has serious problems with her heart. She was diagnosed last year with congestive heart failure and she has a viral infection of her heart. She does 25 minutes of aerobic exercise every day and keeps herself in good shape...but it is a condition that is very worrisome. Let's all keep Puppy in our prayers!!
I bought some of that Olay Regenerative and I hope it works. Some years ago, when I was in my 40s and had quite a bit of sun damage to my face, I joined a study on Retin A. I used a very highly concentrated cream for several months. My skin peeled and peeled...and got very, very sensitive. (The only face cream I could use was Eucerin, what the doctor prescribed). Everytime I washed my face, as the skin dried I could feel my skin tighten around my eyes. Over the course of a few months the results were very dramatic. I lost of lot of the finer wrinkles and all the lifelong sun damage to my face was repaired during a short period of time.
I have heard that the best regieme for face care is one that causes the skin to exfoliate....you use an alpha hydroxy cream (Eucerin is one of the best and it's not expensive) and a cleanser that contains a little pumice. I use the Neutrogena system, with the electronic sponge....it does make a difference if you keep it up, which I don't...
But...I think I'm at the stage where I have to do something a little more drastic, like Botox.
Puppy's hair regieme worked wonders on my hair. The olive oil treatment followed by the baking soda paste and shampoo beautifully conditioned my hair. I followed with a Nioxin rinse, which has a minty quality and my hair was the best it has been since chemo. However, I did get my hair cut recently and I feel NAKED!!! I'm resigned to the turbans for another winter!!
Great to hear from everybody. Belinda Jo, WHERE ARE YOU?!!!
Carol, please keep us updated on your situation, and let us know when important dates are coming up. We are worried about you!!
Mizsissy
-
PICTURES!!! PICTURES?? No one has been updating our special dox except Dottie...!!!
Maybe we should just post them here. Mary, I'd love to see your new pix. Will you share them with us?
-
Casey - I am sorry - your associates finance'. I am glad to hear he is doing well. Sounds as though you are lookin fine in a pair of well cut j eans! Good for you! My favorite jeans just split a bit in the back (and they weren't even that tight). Time for a new pair, just so hard to find a pair that is complimentary to one's a$$.
Mary - I am sorry to hear about your hair. while I was getting my trim last week, the stylist and I were talking about chemicals being in hair, etc., and she mentioned that you can have your hair tested. She said that women with thinning hair go and have their hair tested at a place here in Ohio. The results tell the woman what she may be lacking in her diet that is causing the thinning. While we all know the chemo is the major culprit, it might be something to check out?
Carol - I am sorry to hear about your surgery! A hysterectomy should not cause all of these problems. I will be thinking of you and hoping you are feeling better even as I type this and that those Foley's will be gone like tomorrow!
MizSissy - Yes, Oil of Olay Regenerist is what I've been using for two years now. I love it. I also use a Mary Kay firming eye cream - wonderful. That and Dove or Cetaphil soap.
I actually ran three miles three times last week. Felt great to sweat again and I can feel myself getting back into the groove of working out.
My shopping is almost done. Finish that up, wrap, makes cookies and I'm good to go.
Puppy - thinking of you sweetie.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Raye
-
Ohh, seems like I'm always missing something, Mary, sorry I missed about your hair. Have your tried Nioxin? I was told to order the Nioxin kit for men and I think it DOES work. For example, my hairline receded quite dramatically at my temples when my hair regrew, and I've been using it and the hair has been coming in!! Give it a try. Also, Puppy's routine also helps with hair growth!!
-
Thanks for the laugh Mizzy.
No need to hide your face!!
I'm sure you look just fine.
I kept my hair very short in my early to mid twenties. (Even had a crew cut for a while. Boy, did the girl who cut my hair protest when I told her what I wanted!) It wasn't great for the social life unless I wanted to date punk rock types but it was easy to care for and I think kind of cute. I just wore big, funky earrings and didn't worry about it. Depending what happens to my hair over the next few months I too will cut my hair and just stick with the boy cut.
Happy day.
-
Puppy's computer is not working, but she is hoping for an Apple for Christmas, and she asked me to type this message for you:
"Sweet sisters, I feel so odd that I have made such a wonderful love and friendship with you and I cannot talk to you any more. You are all always in my prayers and I think of you often. Carol, my hearts breaks for you. My prayers are and always have been and always will be will all of you.
"Raye, God always has a way to keep you and I together in spirit and I love you dearly."
"I miss you all and hopefully I'll be back soon."
Puppy

Hi ladies,
I had a wonderful time with my fav sis and now my DH comes home tomorrow. Our Seahawk win was pretty exciting. I'm thinking none of you are football fans except maybe Mary and her LSU tigers?? I love all the college bowl games too. I just love most sports cuz I was a tomboy way back when... (with five sisters, somebody had to play with the neighbor boys!)
Carol, I'm so saddened to hear about your complications. I can't believe surgeons can be so careless. Hugzz to you, and prayers for a speedy recovery for the holidays. I know you have the strength and will make the best of it ... matching bags and shoes --- you crack me up.Mizzy, tell Puppy thanks for the lovely message, and Merry Christmas -- hope she gets her new computer soon.
We have a couple parties this week and next ... gotta be careful from here out... too many sweets at the office, but I'm still planning to bake cookies next week with BF ... LOL... Will probably donate them to the women's shelter!
Cathy, Mary, Raye, Casey ... Love ya lots! Hope everyone is well...Take care y'all.
Dottie
-
Here's a pic of Kathy and me shopping for new hats before the game.
Pretty stylish, eh?
-
Hi All!
Dottie- great picture. I am not a football fan, but it is inescapable down here. The governor will probably declare a state holiday if LSU wins the national championship. (As a state employee, I have my fingers crossed!)
Casey, I had a punk rock haircut in the early-mid eighties, and I married a punk rocker. My hair is longer now than it was back then, but it is so thin and scraggly. My husband got in big trouble with me the other day. I was complaining about being tired of looking like this, and he said, "Yeah, it's hard for me, too." It took me a couple of seconds to register that. What could I say? Yes, honey, it sure must suck that your wife doesn't look hot anymore. Sigh.
Carol, I am worried that you haven't checked in for a while. I hope you are getting better.
MizSissy, I need to make the time to post pictures of my sorry head of hair so you all can tell me it's not that bad. (And I'll know you all are lying!) Maybe this weekend. I tried Nioxin for women, but I used it all up a few weeks ago. I will buy the product for men and hope it doesn't make me grow a beard! I am currently using a Jan Marini product that is supposed to be like Rogaine. So far no effect.
Cathy, how is Wally?
Raye, I sent you a pm.
Work out update: I went to Sports Circuit on Monday after taking a week off. Ouch. Going back tonight. Lost three pounds. Yeah!
Mary
-
Dottie, very much enjoyed your pictures. I love those earflap hats...chemosavvy.com has a really fluffy one lined with fur.
Hair Troubles Continue. Or, maybe I'm being a little too blase about it. With all the hot flashes I'm getting, I am uncomfortable in winter clothes and especially any kind of hat or turban. So I usually start off with a turban in the AM but inevitably it comes off at the first hot flash. DH is taking a few days off this week and yesterday I was sitting in my favorite chair in the living room and he comes over, pulls his comb out of his pocket and tries to improve things. Then this morning he offered me his hair gel. ..I politely tried it. I realize that some of my hair growth problem, especially the thinness around the temples, is probably due to the turbans. So today I decided to give myself the full Puppy treatment...olive oil mixed with hot water, followed by the soda paste with shampoo and the minty rinse. DH was waiting to me to finish my shower so he could take his, so I suggested this routine to him (since we are now sharing hair tips), and offer him the plastic cup I had just finished using, telling him to go downstairs and mix himself some water and olive oil.
He says, uh, there's some left in here, can't I just use this? But he doesn't get it, that's the soda paste shampoo part, so I suggested, "Why don't you rinse that out and go down to the kitchen and mix yourself a fresh batch, put it on now, and then you wash your hair with your shampoo mixed with the baking soda paste. By this time I'm out of the shower, and he says, "How about if I just use my own shampoo?!"
Today is sunny and we were finally able to get out and run. I had a six month checkup with my surgeon today. We were actually glad for the outing after 5 days of fog, snow, sleet, and drizzle and being penned up inside. We were both of us really getting a bad case of cabin fever. Yesterday we had a fire going early afternoon, and moved cocktail hour up to 3 pm out of pure boredom. Ennui was hitting so hard we decided to go out to dinner. I chose a salad trying to go light, but my Chicken Pavloc Salad turned out to be so loaded up with bleu heese, dried cherries and pine nuts it was very fattening (especially since I didn't resist the roll with garlic whipped butter that came with it and went ahead and had two). I couldn't stop myself from stealing a few wonderful morsels of my husbands tender, delicious port steak medallions. Then when he ordered a fried cookie dough ice cream sundae for dessert, I couldn't help having a few spoonfuls of that. By the time we waddled out of there, I felt V E R Y decadent.
I feel only slightly redeemed by the long walk we took last night in the cold sleet on slippery roads and our run this afternoon.
Like everybody else, now that treatment is over I am worried about recurrence, especially in light of my high oncotype score. I ask the doc, since there is really little chance of "cure" after recurrence, isn't there some way to check up so we can catch it before it gets too advanced. And he explains to me that I've just made a contradiction. Because it usually cannot be cured, there is almost no point to early detection...so I guess that satisfied me. I guess the most important thing is to keep up our hormonals.
Carol, please keep us up-to-date with your treatment...we're anxious to have your situation resolved ASAP. It is bad enough to have BC, but to put up with a surgeon's ineptitude is doubly infuriating!!!

Casey, that short hair must have been adorable - and hey, it got you ready for this experience! On the other hand, I had long brown (albeit big) hair in my early 20's. Kept it long until you know what.
Dottie - great pic! I love it. You look so vibrant!
Mary, congrats on the 3 lbs.; responded to you pm a few moments ago.
MizSissy - love the idea of moving the cocktail hour up! sharing tips with hubby on hair! Now that is interesting. Talk about decadent - I just consumed (binging???) a box of Godiva chocolates. Now, I didn't eat each entire chocolate, but rather took a bite of each and threw the rest in the garbage - a sampler per se.
Sooo, I guess I've got to go the gym and work off my binge. ugh. And certainly not in the mood at all tonight.
Carol, how are you feeling?
Puppy, thank you for the lovely thoughts. You are on my mind!!!!!
How do you post a pic on here anyway?
