Yay! The strike is over and the curtains will come up tonight (or tomorrow at the latest for some shows). One entertainment strike down, another to go and the writers and producers are talking!

I love musicals, unfortunately I don't get to see them as much as I'd like, so I catch the movie versions almost every weekend.

Benita, I'm on this fiddler on the roof kick. I just love the music. I've been watching the movie most weekends. I liked the Producers and Chicago-- loved the music in them. I like the older ones too like Cabaret. Rent was the last musical I saw on Broadway. I think I missed something in Rent, because as much as I enjoyed the music, I didn't get in the the story as much as everyone else I know. I've since seen the movie a few times and it's growing on me.

    I'm doing well, thanks.

That was the first show I saw on broadway! I love, love, love that show. That was also the first VHS movie I bought too! I haven't seen it in a while, maybe I'll pull it out this weekend.

My favorite show was wicked.  I wanted to see it forever, and my best friend bought these insane tickets- center front row, when the loser I was with dumped me when I was finishing treatment.

In return, she never saw an opera, so for her birthday last month I took her to the MET to see the opening night of La Traviata.  Went all out on crazy tickets, and she was balling by the third act.  Both events were so special.

That sounds like so much fun Beth. I'm not an opera person myself, though I haven't tried for a while so maybe I would be now that I'm older.

Having lived in NYC while growing up, I have fond memories of cutting classes and standing in line for tickets at TKX on Wednesday afternnons. Is it still there? It was for same day performances.

Also, there used to be a two story Mc Donald's at Times Square. That was a treat!

It was still there a year or so before. I also remember the 2 story McD's as a place to use the bathroom if need be, lol. In the 80s I went there several times a year-- I used to love the city when I was younger, more energetic and had more disposable income.
