Can I pick your brains please? I have just read on another thread that as my Cancer is ILC my ovaries may be at risk ~ is there any basis in this? I see my Onc in a weeks time and wish to discuss this with him ~ I would like to have some facts before I do. Many thanks

Hi Rosemary;
ILC likes to metastisize to the ovaries. It also likes to go to the bones, and digestive tract. IDC prefers liver, brain and bones.Take care.

Hi Rosemary, Mo is right---it does like the ovaries, bones, and GI tract. I also have ILC and once I recover from Chemo and Rads I will go for the hysterectomyw/ovaries, no question! I finished chemo in Sept. and have 3/25 Rads to go!! I am hoping to wait about 4 months before having to undergo surgery again. Good luck to you and God Bless! Chattie

Thanks girls ~ I will definitely discuss the possibility of having my Ovaries removed, have been thinking about it for a while anyway, recently had the lining of my womb looked at and a polyp removed, the surgeon said he would be happy to remove them if necessary ~ friend at work commented that I wont have many internal organs left at this rate! will keep you all posted. Hi Sherri ~good to hear from you, well I saw my onc today and discussed the possibility of ovary removal and to cut a long story short he felt that weighing up all the risks and the fact that I am BRCA1/2 neg, his personal opinion is not to remove them. considering all Ive been through over the last couple of years [ mast then prophylactic mast, expanders and exchange last Dec] that I had been through enough and that I should get on with life ~ this wasn't said in a patronising way at all. I did feel that had I pushed it he would have referred me to a surgeon. Well I will leave it for now but keep an eye on any updated research. I see him again in 3 months [to review pos side effects of Arimedex] so may revisit the subject, I like to think they know what they are talking about! we were dx at much the same time Sherri ~ I had chemo first then surgery followed by 15 zaps. I feel more or less normal now! how about you?
