Please help women who can not afford a mammogram.
My son checked the site out through snopes.com, the site that checks for fraud and such. This site is legitimate.
If I could cut and paste and send all of you the two pages I received in super large colorful print, I would. I can not do that. A summary of what the email said is:
A Favor to Ask.... It only takes a minute. They ask the receiver of the email to tell 10 friends, who should tell 10 friends, etc. etc. When a person clicks onto the site
(you can do this once a day) The Breast Cancer site tallies up clicks toward a quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman.
Just go to the site, click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle) It costs you nothing. Corporate sponsers and advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammograms in exchange for advertising.
I thought, If I could call this to the attention of all my sisters here, and they clicked on (daily) and told 10 friends, WOW, wouldn't a lot of women who can't afford it, be able to get a mammogram.
I consider this an act of charity.
I have no personal involvement in this. All that I know about this, I just typed in.
Thanks for reading here and for helping, if at all possible. For October, each click counts double. Too bad I/we didn't know at the beginning of the month.
Again, it's www.thebreastcancersite.com

Hi, I've been clicking on this a while and i sent e-mails to everyone i know so they could click too. Actually i have an e-mail from the web site that reminds me every day. So I cant forget really.
-
Thanks Omo. I hope everyone gets to view the message and follow through.
Phyllis -
Thanks Phyllis . . .
My daughter sent me this link about a year ago now and I have it listed under my favorites, so that everyday that I am on the computer (at least 5 -6 times a week), I click for the free mammograms. It's a great way to help others. I think I heard that they are not getting enough people to participate and may close it down. I think think I heard that, but don't quote me. Anyway if enough of us remember to do it I'm sure they will be more than happy to keep it going.
Blessings,
Pat -
Pat,
Thanks so much for responding, and for doing this good deed as much as you can. I also heard that they need more people to respond, as you just stated, or they may close down.
I am surprised that lots and lots of our sisters here have not yet read this message. Of those that read it, I wonder how many are following through and clicking on. It's such a simple thing to do.
The only way I'd know, is if they respond to this post, to say so. I'm curious to see if the message here will help.
So far, the only two who responded here, were already aware, and were already doing this.
Perhaps after the weekend there will be a better response.

Thanks Phyllis for posting this. I have received this email many times myself and passed it to many as well. I hope that everyone here will do this. It really is for a great cause and so easy to do.
Take Care, -
Thanks Phyllis. Will add this to my favourites and also forward it to my family and friends.

Great idea! I'll click through.
-
Hi Jojo, Lornauk, and ratemds.
Thanks so much for posting a response here. As more sisters join in I may not be able to thank individuals all the time. You all (all above) agree it is a simple thing to do. I'm looking forward to many many names added to this thread, and clicking onto the site.
Phyllis -
Thanks Phyllis.
Missed you and Werner yesterday in Woodstock! Maybe Mystic in the spring?

Hi -- I've been clicking on that site for years . . . as well as its sister sites, the animal health site, hungersite, rainforest and child health. All the tabs are available across the top of the page, and clicking a few more times can make a difference for all these worthy causes.
Have also purchased some of the items advertised on the site, and been very pleased with service and quality. I think supporting their advertisers is probably just as important as clicking to ensure their work continues. -
Carol,
I sent you a PM re: the get togethers, and this site.
filmfestgirl,
You are quite right. I didn't want to overwhelm the ladies at the start, so I began with the request about free mammos for women who can not afford them. When I clicked on, I saw everything that you mentioned. All are worthy causes and it only costs a click for each. Of course our ladies can shop at this site too. Thanks for calling our attention to it.
I saw that they give a daily tally of how many clicks went through the day before, and how many free mammos will be given for that number of clicks.
It was really good of you to give us the additional information.
Phyllis -
Just bringing this back for more of you to read it before it gets lost. Thanks to all who read this thread and who click on.
Phyllis -
About time to relist this on the resources column. I think it's worth it.
Phyllis -
Hopefully, each time this is brought to the top again, more people will read it, and click on. While there, please take another moment to click on for the other worthwhile causes too. Anything we can do to help here, there, everywhere. Why not?
Phyllis -
Bringing this to the top again so others see it, and we are reminded to click on each day.
-
To the top again for new people and to remind the others.
-
I am continuing this request at least until the end of the year.
-
I do this nearly every morning as part of my morning rituals at work...makes me feel good to start the day off this way.
-
Jennifer,
Thanks for doing this. I am not personally involved with it. Just thought it was a human, decent thing to do. It looks like many women are doing this since the goal of 1,000 has been met and it is going further than that. I wonder if the other women also click on to the other sections, as feed the hungry, save the children, promote literacy, save the rain forests, help provide food for animals in animal shelters. It only takes a little scrolling down, looking around, and clicking on. If anything catches your eye that you'd like to buy, that' s wonderful. But, there are sponsers. No one's obligated to shop.
Phyllis -
Just bringing this to the top again. I believe the site and the other connecting sites are worth it.
-
Every few weeks I bring this to the top again. So, here it goes.
Phyllis -
Hi Phyllis...How are you doing? Thanks for bringing this to the top............xoxo,Patti
-
Patti,
Check your PM's.
Phyllis -
It's time to bring this to the top once more. As I click onto this site, and those connected to it each night, I get the feeling that WE who click on here for a few moments a day or as often as possible, are truly doing good deeds for several causes. I thank all of you for being the good people that you all are.
Phyllis -
Just bringing this back to the top again.
-
Phyllis:
Thanks for bringing this to the top again as Patti said. I think I mentioned this to you last time along this thread but I have the free mamograms on my 'Favoirites' list and as a matter of routein - everyday that I am on the computer that is the second thing I do, after checking emails. They are listing the number clicked-on so far - and I'm surprised at the low number because it is such a simple thing to do - just make it a habit.
Thanks again,
Pat -
Hi Pat,
Yes, I too, put this with my favorites and click on every day I'm at the computer. In that same listing, after the mammogram, you can scroll down and look around. The same kind of click can be done for such as child literacy, animal rescue, feed the hungry, tsunami relief, etc. There are about 5-6 items that can be clicked on, one at a time by scrolling down. It takes moments, and does so much good in this world. For each topic, they tell you the tally of the previous day.
Over weekends I get the feeling that fewer people have time to click on. Whatever good we can do, helps.
I continue to bring this back to the top to remind those who already have seen this. Since we constantly (and sadly) continue to get new members, this is to let them know also.
I looked back, and saw that you were among the first to respond to my original message, on October 29,2004.
Thanks again, Pat.
Phyllis -
Bringing this to the top once again. I noticed tonight that again, the weekend number of people (in general), who click on to this site is always at a low number. Weekdays could use more "click on's" also. So, if you have a moment to spare to help these people and causes, many in this world would benefit. Thanks.
-
To the top once more.
-
Thank you for doing this. I will add that site to my favorites and will forward it to those in my address book. This is a wonderful thing to do.
