    More random thoughts....

~The pencil in the eye was gross, I had to turn my head.

~I realllly do not like even the thought of Derek with that overlycheerful resident--she reminds me of Bree on Desperate Housewifes.

~How funny was it when the teenage girl told McSteamy he looked like her father. I love the male bonding between the guys.

~The Izzie and George thing was just plain weird.

~I really liked how all the stories related to self perception and the teenage years.

~Before Bailey had her melt down at the end, I thought maybe her old friend was illiterate and that's why he wasn't filling out the papers. Even though she might have known as his former tutor, he could have been functionally illiterate-- but I was off the mark.

~I don't like how Hahn treats the other female doctors- particularly how she was with Bailey and how she is with Christina.

~For the first 45 minutes of the show I was glad that Mer's father apoligized to her and seemed to recognize the error of his ways.  When Lexie clued Meridith in on to his drunken behavior, loving her one day, villifying her the next and the lies my heart sunk for Mer.

I liked last night, although I could've done without seeing the brain swell out of the hole.  Ugh.  Even the pencil in the eye I totally gagged.

Bailey totally pissed me off. I wanted to slap her.  And like Amy, at first I thought maybe he couldn't read--that would've been a better story line.

I love what happened with lexi and mer at the end.

I think Alex is staying pretty true to his original character.

I don't know how I feel about the new friendship between christina and Callie.  I mean, I guess it started last season when callie gave christina her flash cards... but I still don't know how I feel about it.

are any of you still watching private practice?

I'm still watching Private Practice. It's enjoyable, a bit predictable, certainly not a great show and not one I'd miss if it went away.

I also don't know how I feel about the Christina and Callie's friendship. It probably adds some interesting conflict to the show and I guess Callie has to have some friends/allies.

Beth it would be very interesting if Bailey's old friend comes back to the ER having made a mistake with his medication  because he can't read and someone realizes that he's illiterate to see how that effects her own self perception. People sometimes look for "proof" to confirm the thoughts they have about themselves, whether positive or negative. Bailey took his asking her to fill out the forms as "proof" he didn't see her, and if she realized he did so because he couldn't read how would that effect her self perception.

Very interesting episode. What about the nurse??? New character alert?

My first thought was that the one guy could not read or write! Funny.

How many more episodes do we get before repeats?

Next week's episode is new, part 1 of a 2 parter and then there's a repeat. I guess it's like a cliff hanger until after the holidays. The two sides in the strike are sitting down to negotiate on the 26th of Nov. I have no clue why they're waiting so long.

There are 3 completed episodes that haven't aired, plus scripts for 3 more since the cast went out in solidarity with the writers so at least when they go back there are already scripts waiting. Cross your fingers that things work out between the writers and producers.

For me, Private Practice is very watchable...because of Taye Diggs! OMG, did y'all see those arms when he was sweating out the birth in the convenience store? Hot, totally!

I agree with everyone on the Christina/Callie thing, but still would like it if Christina and Mer got cozy and had a brief affair...how wild would that be? Not gonna happen though since I'm pretty sure that America isn't quite ready for it. And I'm still hoping for a sexy hook-up for Alex and sure wouldn't mind if it's Lexie. BTW, did anyone see the two of them introduce Beyonce & Sugarland at the American Music Award show last night? Lexie looked stunning!

I think Lexie deserves someone better than Alex. I don't want to see her hurt after losing her mother, dealing with her father's alcoholism and Meridith. Jane Doe is coming back in 2 episodes for Alex.

Didn't anybody watch the episode last night?  I cried my eyes out with that man who was trapped and going to bleed out in the ambulance.

And there is definitely something going to happen with Christina and Mer ... Even Izzy calls it their love affair.  Christina must spend a lot of nights at Mer's ... unless they are having an endless slumber party.

I really liked the last two episodes - more actual medical drama and less soap.  Mer and Der mooning over each other in the elevator, Alex's nice guy/jerk routine, George and Izzy's deer in the headlights paralysis, enough already.

So now Bailey's marriage is on the rocks.  Her dh doesn't like being stuck at home with the baby, "unloading the dishwasher" while she's out supporting him and having a demanding career.  What year is this, 1985?  Find a nanny or a quality daycare and get out of the house, buddy.  What did you think life with a high-powered surgeon would be like?  Will he ask her to choose between him and her career?  We already went through that with Richard and Adele, although Adele hung in there through his love affair and for years after.  It will be interesting to see how Bailey handles this.

So surprised at Christina's whiny-ness with the big-wig cardiac surgeon,  and about scrubbing in with her. Under stand that cardiac is all Christina lives for, but Thursday's episode made me what to tell Christina, "OK, OK, just give it a REST!"

Is it on next week or do we have to wait two weeks for the continuation?  And was the guy with the swastika a partner with the ambulance driver that hit the first ambulance?  I teared up watching this episode.

It's a repeat next week and rumor has it maybe until the new year, depending on how the strike talks go on the 26th (per tvguide.com).

~I'm starting to dislike Izzy a lot. I don't think she wants to do cardio as much as she wants to piss off Christina for not being more supportive of her and George. I admire Christina's sticktoitiveness. She knows what she wants and she's going after it. While Izzy may have a better bedside manner, I'd want a Christina operating on me because of her perfectionism and competence.

~Bailey having to deal with the nazi guy really struck a cord with me, especially when she didn't understand why the guy didn't want her to touch him. The irony of Christina stepping in, being half jewish to see his swastika really made me sad. Christina doesn't look like one thinks jews look, so he felt ok to show it to her. I like how at the end Bailey said no one will ever call her "the nazi" again.

~Alec is such a jerk, but at least he knows it. He warned Lexie, but it was still hard to see her heart broken. On a side note, how gross was the way they ended the show with the blood spewing all over the place.

~I wonder why Lexie isn't doing any surgeries, she's where Meridith and the gang were at the start of the show and they did surgeries on the first episode.

~The two guys pinned under the ambulance was really sad, especially when they were singing. Another irony with the dying man saving the other's life.

~Other than when she gave birth, we haven't been privvy to much of Bailey's home life, so it was interesting to see the conflict in her marriage. I don't think the issue is overdone since the chief and his wife broke up over long hours, because it's probably a fact of every day life for the the doctors and their families. My oncologist works 14-16 hr days at least 5 days a week-- between that and sleeping it's hard to see how she has time left for anything else.

I'm with you Ginger! The show has been WAY too graphic this year and the whole George/Izzie relationship is ruining the show! And I know it's never been exactly realistic but do they seem even more immature than before? I used to love this show so much...

I loved it when Bailey said not to call her Nazi ever again. Also like how the chief watches over Meredith. She needs someone to do that. I also think that Derek is going to hook up with that new nurse Rosie. Too bad for Meredith. Getting tired of her!

You do know you can watch the full episode after its aired at www.abc.com?

I have to watch it that way or on dvd since my DH doesn't like the show. I have to agree its a bit more graphic this year, the pencil was horrible!  I've been a nurses aide and yet that bothered me. I too teared up with the ambulance driver scene. They seem to be making Baily more human and left the b part up to the newest surgeon. I would like to see Callie get a new boyfriend whos hefty like her with a great personality that makes you forget he's heavy. I don't really care for the George/Izzy relationship either. Too many relationships floundering and the ones you don't really care for are the ones they keep throwing in our faces like Alex and George's.

I wasn't as enthused about this episode. It didn't really live up to my expectations.

~Alex is such an enigma. Why Ava/Rebecca still wanted to kiss him after he confessed about "screwing lexie" is beyond me, although she is married and presumably doing the same with her husband. That whole situation is just messed up. So I guess he was upstairs with Rebecca while lexie was downstairs dancing with the others? That's messed up, although he didn't know she was there.

~My favorite part of the episode was Christina bringing Lexie home and Meridith being ok with it. Kudos also to Christina for her mentoring of Lexie. I was also glad that Christina told Bailey she didn't appreciate being singled out for her skin color. Although I don't think Bailey saw it that way and I didn't either until Yang mentioned it. Calling in Christina in the last episode was a bit passive-aggressive, rather than just using Izzy as she had planned. Although I was glad to see the swastika scarred, it also didn't seem medically necessary, but another f.u. to the guy, which isn't the most professional thing. I guess I always look toward Bailey for professionalism.,

~I'm glad Izzy is realizing she isn't cut out for cardio. I think the only reason she wanted it in the first place was to one-up Christina. It didn't seem to be a passion for her like it is for Yang.

~Lexie really stepped up to the plate, but ugh, so much blood and gore. I don't understand why she wasn't invited into the surgery on the patient. When Meridith and the gang started at the beginning of the series, some were doing surgery on the first episode.

~Something in Meridith seemed to "click" in terms of attachment. I just hope it's not too late since Derek kissed the nurse Frown. I don't think a few months ago she would have realized that the EMT was all alone and his partner's widow was all alone and suggested she stay to be with him. I thought it was interesting when Lexie said she was all alone and hope the sisters eventually bond. They both could use it.

~Poor George having to relay the argument between Bailey and her husband. There's something going on between Bailey and her husband and I think it's more than just the time they spend apart.  Bailey is supposed to "narrate" episode 11 and it will be about a loss for her. In the back of my mind I keep wondering if her husband is abusing her, because she's the last person one would expect for that to happen, but you can't always tell on the outside what goes on behind closed doors.

As for the writer's strike. I read where it's partially solved. The TV writers and producers have agreed to settle, but movie producers and writers are still negotiating. Unfortunately, I doubt that means the TV writers will be back to work since they're in the same union. I wonder if the writers have been writing in between walking the picket lines and will have episodes ready. I sure hope so.

Well, Amy, that was one comprehensive review! I can only say a few things....I'm actually beginning to like both Izzie and George more since their characters seem to be showing more self-awareness and maturity. As for who I'd rather have as my surgeon, I guess that Christina is the obvious pick because she's so intelligent and OCD about her craft, but Izzie actually is reminding me of my own surgeon. He's top notch and chair of the department, but isn't showy or arrogant and obviously has a real humaness about him. Maybe Christina needs to get slightly softer and Izzie needs to become a bit tougher? How boring would that be, though?

Yeah, Baileys' in deep doo-doo...maybe she and the chief will hook-up and they can just have sex in closets like all of the other horny crazies around Seattle Grace? Surprised Then right back to surgery for another grueling 7 hours of course! That'd work. Undecided

I adore Lexie and as much as I'm hot for Alex, I think he's wrong for her. She's too sweet to get with a toughass like Alex. He and Rebecca deserve one another, though I'd actually like to see him with Callie. That would be hot!

And how about Sloan and Hahn? They seem to be making Hahn prettier and more girly as the episodes go on and it seems clear than there's adefinite sexual tension there. Oooooooooo, I can't wait for THAT to develop!

I think your inferences about Izzy and Christina's strengths are what the writers are trying to get at. Taking into account the whole series, it's Yang hands down for me. Izzy's boundaries are really messed up-- from when she fell in love with Denny. Obviously Alex's are too, but I expect little from him in terms of integrity. I can't see anything hot about Alex, though I can with other guys on the show. I thought Burke was hot (except for the actor's homophobic remarks) and thing Derek could be if he shaved. I think George is hotter than Alex LOL.

Okay-- so the gore and blood factor-- can you say ugh?

I was watching the show through my fingers covering my face.

I'm with you amy-- the whole alex rebecca thing-- why the hell did they kiss after his whole speech.  And I don't even like her anymore.  Alex is right-- she's married.

Love the whole lexie, mer, xtina bonding.  And wow- so izzy and george are calling it quits so soon..

We'll see hwat happens wirh derrick and mer and the nurse and all that.  But seriously, I HIGHLY doubt there are many neurosurgeons that would kiss a nurse after a long surgery.  I also highly doubt that a computer would ever malfunction like that during surgery.  BUT, every time I think the medical stories are far fetched I read about something happening that's the same scenario.

So now what?  we just wait I guess. ugh.

Oh, and private practice was pretty good this week.  Love triangles everywhere you turn.  The show is totally growing on me.

I have a name for Dr. Hahn, McMeany, it fits.  I was really floored by last nights episode my sister was  visiting and when the show was over we both took a big breath and just said "wow good one". I don't like how the writers are making Izzy look foolish but my sis thought saving the deer was sweet. I just said didn't make sense people injured all over and she's working on a deer and I'm an animal nut. Glad that George and Izzy are getting things under control, and wonder who they will choose for Christina to be involved with and really hope that Bailey's marriage will be okay. I'm also hooked on Ugly Betty, I just love the show because it's just funny and I can kick back and enjoy it.  I can't miss an episode of it, really love looking at the fashions and how hilarious it can get, I'd love to be writer for that show you could just do so much with the characters.

Bailey and dh are over.  It's in the cards.

When George and Izzie finally woke up to the fact that it isn't going to work--I said THANK GOODNESS.  It was wrong on so many levels.

Neurosurgeons just aren't that nice!  I worked for some early in my career and have to admit that NS are a God complex group.  All surgeons are, but NS are the worst to me.  so, anything they have McDreamy doing is off the charts cause he's so nice and calm.

Alex and Ava are just doing "it".  I think he really has a thing for her, but is ticked that she's cheating with him and has less respect for her because of it.

Haun is protecting herself--she's be Around--she knows how these guys act and move on.  But in the end she and Mc Steamy will get it on.

I like this so much more than the Practice, the women there are such whimps.  They act like teens around men.  If the writers would give them some more backbone, it might be interesting.
