My run down...

~Loving Meridith's sister Lexie

~The deer thing was stupid and Izzy wasn't well written yesterday

~Meridith needs to TALK when people talk to her and not just give them a strange look and walk away.

~The McSteamy/McDreamy thing was fun, especially when McSteamy said he came to Seattle to get Derek back.

~I felt bad for George, this is a good plot because he can mix with the newbies and get us more interested in those who will have bigger parts that intern1 and intern2.

~Liking Callie less and less with each scene she's in.

~I felt bad for Bailey, but understand the Chief's reasoning, especially since she's getting groomed to eventually take over for him (in my opinion).

~Didn't feel bad for Callie floundering in her position. She's not my idea of a strong woman-- she practically manipulated George into getting married and is now trying to have a baby to keep him. Yuck. Can't she tell at all that George just isn't that into her or having a baby? Of course, George could  also be more assertive and actually TELL her. I really hope she doesn't get pregnant or that if she does, it's not George's. That's all he needs is to be tied to Callie for the rest of his life. It would be interesting if she chose abortion like Addison did when she was preg with McSteamy's.

~Can't wait for next week-- to see more of Lexie and Meridith, what happens when Callie won't let George tell her he doesn't love her, "Mama" and Christina and whatever else they thrown our way.

So far my favorite story lines are Lexie/Mer and George/Izzy

Love Grey's Anatomy.  My favorite show.  I agree with most of what you said but I still like Callie.

I'm in agreement with your run down, Amy. Just want to add...Christina is my favorite character, she's strong, takes no crap and lately seems to have grown a heart.

I can not take Meredith's whining one liners! She has got to be the worst actress on TV.

I hate to sound like freakin' Suzy Sunshine, but I LOVE all of the characters and am thrilled that the writers don't seem to have lost their touch at all this season! Love Lexie (tho thought she was pretty inappropriate bothering Meredith during an emergency), love Cristina and how she barks (sorta tenderly) at her interns, love Bailey and, hell yes, I even love Callie (tho I agree with Amy's assessment of her deceptiveness in getting George to marry her).

I'm pleasantly surprised and PSYCHED about the new season!

I really don't like where they are taking the Izzy/George thing.  The whole Izzy/deer thing was stupid, IMO. Hopefully, they will let George grow some backbone.  I have never liked how they make his character weak.   Other than that...SO glad it's back, lol.

I tivo'd the show, so will watch and review tonight, am looking forward to a great season!

BTW, I downloaded Grey's soundtrack from Season 2 and it's awesome. Love the tracks: Kaboom, Grace and Monster Hospital!

Anybody else listen to Grey's music?

Rockermom, I have How to Save a life on my mp3 player, but haven't heard all of the CDs. I was in borders today and they had the first 3 season cds bundled together for $29.99-- it's 3 Cds.

Lexie reminds me a lot of Meridith in that they both have a bit of  bad timing-- like when Lexie blurted out she was Mer's sister during the emergency.  I can totally see Meridith doing that. Lexie seems to be like Meridith would be if she wasn't so deep inside her head and depressed. Lexie obviously has a lot going on with her mom's death and her dad's alcoholism, but she sure seems to be dealing better (probably because Lexie had her mom and Meridith had Ellis Grey as her mom). I can't wait until next week....

I finally saw the episode and I hated the deer thing!!  That was so dumb!!  Are they trying to get us to think Izzy is dumb??? Off the wall??? Want us to want her written off???  ....  I love Christina! She totally ROCKS.

Callie, her character is written really well. Seems strong but really not on the inside.

Bailey is great.  I guess the Chief wants her to be Chief of Surgery someday and like he said, not managing schedules. It's funny ... because she isn't the CR but the docs come running when the Nazi calls!   She is CR without the title and that's like real life. Oftentimes, someone else better equipped is doing the job without the pay or the title.

I am going to miss Burke. What doctor are they going to get that is serious and really good at his job?  A man you want to see let his hair down now and then?

Did I miss that someone is joining the cast?

I haven't a new cast member filling in for Burke. The woman who played the heart surgeon from the other hospital said she'd take the job in a minute if asked.

On the topic that of characters written well, I think Bailey is among the best. Her character has evolved so much from the first episodes and now we're seeing her softer side and her insecurities. I was surprised that she assumed the chief didn't think she was qualified to be chief resident.

I love Bailey, she does her part so well.  I didn't think about the heart surgeon coming back.

I'm STILL wondering what happened to Izzy's daughter? Undecided She came in with her parents for leukemia and just disappeared frrom the story line. How likely is it that Izzy would rather pursue married old George rather than pursue a relationship with a daughter she's never known? Are we to assume that the kid just dies and that's that? Hmmmmmmmmm......?

I forgot about her daughter Marin.  Maybe Izzy was just respecting her daugher's wishes about not being ready to see Iz yet when she's feeling so sick. Going through a bone marrow transplant is hell since they have to destroy the immune system beforehand and it would make sense to me that her daughter's priority (and her daughter's parents') would be getting her physically well. This has gotta be about the girl's needs, not Izzy's. I dunno, Izzy could have mentioned her though. I assume the parents would keep her informed.

I finally saw Private Practice, the premier episode and didn't like it.  Now, I did see it last season (the pilot?) and it was good. Don't think I will be tevo'ing this.

    Can't wait for Grey's tonight!!

I don't think Pvt. Practice will make it either.  Just doesn't have much spark.  Needs the Nazi and Christine!

    Week 2 comments--

~Meridith is really a cold fish, particularly where Lexie is concerned. Just because she's been hurt doesn't give her the right to consider no one's feelings but her own.

~I felt so bad for Lexie

~Mama Burke turned out to be decent and compassionate towards Christine, I never ever picked up on the fact Yang was also losing her teacher and mentor. I felt sorry for Mama Burke, who is obviously hurting for her son.

~It's so obvious Callie should have never been named chief resident but I wonder if they're writing is as she's doing poorly now and will learn and grow and be great. IMHO if she's letting her personal feelings about Izzy effect her professional relationships, she's failing. Note to Callie--- respect has to be earned and since the residents obviously respect Bailey it would be good to have her alliance.

~Derek--- WTF? I just don't see how being with Mer is such a hardship to who he is as a man--I think the writers are creating drama for the couple to keep them fresh.

~I can't wait for next week....

I agree about Meredith's treatment of Lexie and about Derek's supposed angst. Everything in those relationships seem over-dramatized for audience effect. I also think that they're making Callie out to be a fool....what happened to that tough, earthy Latina she was initially?

But my absolutely favorite scene was the one between Alex and Bailey in the observation room! They, along with Chrisina, are my favorite characters anyway! I'm soooooo curious to see where they'll go with Christina's character. She seems to be becoming a more mature, sensitive surgeon, but what else? Maybe she'll hook-up with Alex? Just kidding...I've been trying to hook Alex up since the beginning. (Hmmmmm.....wouldn't mind hooking up with him myself Wink)

    Yup-- best scene--agreed.

I felt sad when christina came home to an EMPTY apartment.

I'm starting to hate Callie-- anyone think after george leaves her she'll get back with mcsteamy?

and I'm also excited about a possible rekindling of male bonding with derek and mcsteamy... we need some "guy" relationships now that we don't have burke and derek interacting.

I think it's messed up for mer to say she's an only child-- and while I understand that her dad left her, and lexie grew up with him (omg, my life in a nut shell) lexie didn't know about mer until a few months ago-- so its not her fault.

mer needs to get over it.  I'm sure there will be some dramatic scene where they need to work together to save someone, and then their relationship changes.

I agree about the favorite scene too!

Beth I'm also excited about the male bonding between the Mchotties and I agree there will be some dramatic emergency that will bond the sisters.

I also think it's messed up for Mer to say she's an only child when Lexie is so eager for Mer's acceptance. My gosh, if I was in Mer's shoes I'd great my sister with open arms. I had a similar experience to Lexie meeting a number of family members for the first time and one responded like Mer, although not quite so bluntly and it crushed me so that scene hit close to home.

Please fill me in.  I fell asleep at the end and I do not remember a scene with Alex and Bailey.  Last thing I remember was Derek finding the little meth kid and taking him from his dad.

Ok, girls, have you noticed that we seem to like the tougher scenes where our faves really let loose and act like strong women?  We like them better when they aren't all sweet and nice?

Let's get back to that kind of writing and get on with being a good surgical show with hot stuff going on in the back ground!

Get the strong Latina, Asian, African, whomever, back and get the writers going in the direction that made for the strong women to take over the dang hospital and run it!

Newter, Alex and Bailey were sitting down together. Alex was feeling incredibly guilty for telling the dad that he knew about the drug use and putting into action the events where the father took the kid and the kid had the stroke. Alex asks Bailey to let him have it. Bailey says it's not her job anymore. Alex asks again and Bailey lets into him, as she would have last year as only Bailey can do. Afterwards Alex thanks her and tells her he feels better. Bailey says, so did I.

I believe you can watch a repeat online at abc.com .

Thanks Amy.  Yep, I missed that whole scene. I thought they replayed the episode on ABC but I could not find it in my listings.  I have problems watching video on my laptop and I do not want to use my hubby's computer because it is down in the dungeon. Smile

I have to say that Bailey is my favorite female character.  I constantly want to smack Meredith and Izzy.  I liked Callie at first but not sure now because I missed a lot of last season.  Christina is fun and feisty.   Oh yeah, I always love Loretta Devine, I hope they bring her back.

I hate Meredith. I think she is self centered. But then again doesn't that make a good surgeon? She seem like such a strong smart woman at the beginning of the show 4 years ago.

I think it was sad they dropped the Izzy/daughter story line.

I loved Georges family, they should bring them back.

Callie, she is not impressing me.

I would like to see Alex grow this season. I love the chance of some more male bonding!! Bring it on.

Christina rocks as does Bailey. I love strong women.

I think we don't like Mer a whole lot anymore is because, like Janis said, she is self-centered and I think, weak.

We saw Callie as a strong woman, now we see her as weak.

I don't think it's about showing them as vulnerable but these women are just not doing the right  thing at the right time.  McSteamy sees her as someone worthy of a man who loves her but she doesn't seem to see the same thing.

Marg, I definitely think Callie will get pregnant and George will decide to so what his mind says, is the "right thing" and stay with her, even though he doesn't really love her.

I don't think they dropped the Izzy/ bio daughter story line. I just think it's not at the forefront because nothing has happened between them. Remember that her daughter wasn't ready to meet her, underwent a grueling bone marrow transplant and is likely still recovering from the transplant that was only a few weeks/months earlier. It's all about what her daughter needs/wants right now. She might not want to meet Izzy or might not have the energy to do so.  The daughter's parents would never have even contacted Izzy if not for the need for bone marrow. The writers are too good to let it drop for good.

I just got a scoop from tvguide.com--- Meridith (and Lexie's) father is going to appear on at least one show in November. Hopefully he'll be coming with hat in hand to  apologize--- I REALLY HOPE he doesn't also die.
