Well it's open enrollment time again.  We just got our paperwork and were ready to sign and send back when DH got an email - the company he's working for has decided to change insurance carriers.

I'm in a panic.  Can the new company deny coverage because the BC is a "pre-existing condition"?  It looks like I'll have to change oncologists and that is a major fear factor for me!!!  I don't want to change!Cry

It is my understanding as long as there is no break in coverage from one insurance to the other, they cannot claim pre-existing condition. And why do you have to change onc, unless your onc is not in the new network?

The new company cannot deny you coverage for BC.

As long as you are part of a group plan and did not go more than 63 days without coverage, you cannot be denied health insurance due to a "pre-existing condition".  I was also very worried about changing plans when I was first diagnosed.

As far as I can tell our medical group, including PCP and oncologist are not in their network.

Thank you all - now I'll sleep easier knowing that I'll still be covered.

My big worry is that the insurance we've had is incredible, and the cost of the new plan is going to be significantly less - hmmmmm, I just hope that doesn't mean that the coverage is going to be downgraded too.

No, always, always, if the company changes health plans, the new company has to take everyone or they do not sign up. Usually because the president of the company or his wife have something!
