My thoughts on the oct 11th episode...

~I don't think Geo is going to leave Callie. I'm glad he got a spine and told Izzy that  him telling Callie wasn't about Izzy. I'm also glad he realized, "who marries someone right after his father's funeral." I think he should have told Callie he wanted to leave her in a different way, rather than saying, "I slept with Izzy." because if he really believed that telling Callie was between him and Callie and not sleeping with Izzy, that wouldn't have been the way to go. IMHO he should leave Callie because the marriage isn't working for him, not because he loves Izzy more. A relationship can only be as healthy as the people in it.

~I was glad to see Meridith melting towards Lexie and this time Lexie having the protective shield. I though it was telling that Mer said, "for the record, I was very fond of your mother." rather than saying that she loved her step mom although I guess saying what she did was a step. I liked how  Mer went over the report with Lexie in the end, in a "big sister" way.

~Alex has really grown both as a surgeon and as a man. His intern, the older gentleman was sooo annoying-- someone needs to tell that guy that being a doctor is about the patients' needs rather than his own old fashioned ideas. I wonder if he's a permanent (annoying) fixture.

~How funny was "very old guy" although I did think the writers took creative license when he was begging Izzy not to save him-- what about a living will? He could have gotten a DNR and wasn't she supposed to suggest advanced directives to him?

~I thought Bailey's admission  that she didn't know at all was as much for herself as for Alex. I also thought that her outreach to Callie was much more about being kind to Callie than Bailey's actual needs.

I can't wait until next week!

Well I missed almost the whole thing because I was online with a new potential lover (yessss!) and was in such a dither that I couldn't focus on the TV screen! But I hadn't lost my mind so much that I didn't have the presence of mind to push the DVR button. I'm watching it tonight (maybe Tongue out). It sounds like it was exciting and from what I did see, both Meredith and George showed some new maturity....intriguing!

Marin, glad you missed it!  Sounds like you had something much better going on!

    You'll enjoy it tonight.

I thought it was a good one. I love the fact that really old guy woke up!!

The lady with the tongue surgery!! what a hoot.

Yes, the season is looking up. Except for Alex being sh*tty to George. Taking him down from Intern-worship.

Well if anyone is getting pregnant this year, I would think it will be George.  This Izzy-George thing is driving me crazy.

George will dump his wife, Izzy dumps George cause a real man shows up in her life, and that melodrama will go on for awhile.

How mean was Alex at the end in the elevator with George...just when I think he is growing a heart he does the MEANEST thing ever!

Yep, the old Alex is Back!

The Geo. Izzy thing has never made it for me anyway.  It just doesn't work.

A DNR for old guy, hey, Izzy didn't have time to ck the guy out, she was too busy getting his advice about her love life to act like a real doc!

Mer did sound like a grown up with the death record and her half sis, Finally!

Hope Callie pulls her socks up and gets on with her life, she doesn't need George.  Not sure anyone does.  They'll hook him up with some little needy nursie type.  (hey, I'm a nurse and they always make us look bad in the doctor shows)

Did you see the look of FEAR on Christine's face when Mer was talking about a night of "talking and even crying".  Priceless.

Ah, real medicine: See one, do one, teach one.

I totally forgot about the crummy thing Alex did to George at the end---that was uncalled for-- hopefully he's a work in progress and that was just a slip back to his old ways.

OMG, y'all, what did you think of last night's episode? I'm so loving the hint that Izzy and Alex might reconnect and have been hoping for it since they broke up! Of course, previews show the return of Ava, but I'm betting it will just serve to settle his feelings about her and let them go to clear the way for Izzy (fingers crossed anyway!). And Derek is turning out to be the strong, steady guy, isn't he, while Meredith is being even jerkier than I thought possible? Does she really think that he'll just sit on a back burner while she dicks around? Nah, bet her sis, Lexie, will play a part in it all and we'll have yet another triangle to conjecture about! And how about Callie finally showing some strength? I'm impressed!

I didn't think that the show could get back on track and continue to be juicy but, for me, it's workin'!

I thought it was a really good episode. I am so glad Callie didn't back down and really got on Izzies case for dishin' another women by sleeping with her man. I think it was hillarious they everyone thought it would be a fight.

Derek showed some real character last night.

The niece of the Chief thing, was hard but I totally related how she felt.

The line about the girl losing weight and dying was really interesting.

It was a really good episode!!!

I don't like George anymore. I always liked Alex. And I am glad that Christine was slapped back a bit.

    My thoughts on the episode:

~ loving Lexie more every episode. I was glad that Derek stood up to Christina and chided her for being mean.

~ I feel bad for Meridith that she is so emotionally depleted she has nothing to give (more later). She had a chance to get some of that back with her stepmom, until she died.

~wondering why that old intern has a job

~I dislike Callie more each episode. She sure did make it seem like she wanted to meet Izzy for a public confrontation-- why on earth would she want to have a heart to heart about the cheating in a public place like the cafeteria. Additionally, Izzy is no way to blame for George's cheating, except for agreeing to participate. If Callie and George had a good relationship a naked Izzy could have thrown herself at Geo and it wouldn't matter. Callie said Izzy took advantage of George-- I think she needs to look in the mirror and realize she MARRIED him right after his father's funeral. What's up with that? There's no excuse for how she treated the patient's bf-- where is the chief-- Callie has no business being chief resident.

~George-- grow a spine-- I thought he wanted to leave Callie. If he wants to, he should, if he doesn't he shouldn't but the wishy-washy thing is old.

~I don't think Alex and Izzy will be together again any time soon, since Ava/Jane Doe/Elizabeth is back for multiple episodes. She deserves better.

~I felt so bad for the chief. Estelle had no right to put him in that position, but then again, the chief really isn't supposed to be treating family members. There's supposed to be a divorce this season and tvguide.com said "it's not who you suspect." which leads me to believe that it's (unfortunately) not Callie and Geo, and I think the chief and Estelle are the only other ones who are married.

~Omg, McDreamy made me want to melt when he said he wanted to grow old with Mer-- I wish she'd get into therapy and work on her intimacy issues. She has every right to have them with how she was raised-- but she doesn't have to live like that. Apparently there's a new cast member for McDreamy, tvguide.com said he'd never hook up with Lexie and I HOPE that's true.

~the previews----- I can't WAIT to see what's going on with Mer and her mom's ashes next episode. I assume since the OR is supposed to be sterile, ashes would contaminate the OR. It's so fitting that Ellis would want to be sprinkled in the place she loves most.

Janis, I remember going thru treatment and being so tired of being tired. And being sick. I told my mom, thru tears, that if I didn't have my dd, I'd give up treatment.  I don't know if when I am 70, if I had bc again, if I'd bother.  But then again, there's always another day with your kids that they need you ...

I know with my dad, if he refused treatment I'd be so distraught. He's in Italy now and he calls but it's not everyday like normal when he's here. I cry cuz I miss him now. I think I would be pushing my dad or daughter to be treated and they'd be the reason I would get treated ... other than them, I'd just give up.

PinkRibbonAmy - there's another one who's married and has kids ...  Bailey ... now that divorce would be totally a surprise ...   hmmm.... they'd have to start showing something w/ her husband and kid(s) - not sure if she has more than 1 ...  for that to make sense though.

I used to really like Callie -  not sure if I do anymore though -  she's so emotionally weak ...   and hides everything she's feeling ...

Mer better get with it ...   oh my gosh ...   McSteamy last night ...   I loved his talk with her ...  gosh...  talk about melting ...

Hmm...  Mer and Lexi's dad will be on ...   could it be perhaps something is wrong with him and Mer and Lexi work together to save him ... that'd certainly bring the two of them closer and may even help Mer finally deal with her problems ...     too predicatable ???

Doreen, I totally forgot about Bailey! That would be a real twist for her and the show- the chief divorcing would be too predictable.

I wonder about the storyline with Mer and Lexie's father too. My thoughts were similar to yours. Since Lexie disclosed he's alcoholic, maybe he comes in with some type of substance abuse and/or liver problems.

What does Jump the Shark mean?

Jump the shark is when a tv show has been on too long and resorts to gimmicks to try to attract viewers. It was so named because on happy days when Fonzie water skiied and literally jumped a shark, people said that was the beginning of the end of the show, creatively.

Another  infamous "jump the shark" tv show is when the brady bunch adopted cousin Oliver. There's actually a whole website about it http://www.jumptheshark.com/index.jspa .

    I'll keep watching Grey's but I agree...

After everything that happened- the spin off, losing Isaiah Washington... callie marrying george...the show just isnt the same.

But, alas, between that and Dancing with the Stars, I'm hooked.  I do love DVR though, b/c I watch on my own time and skip the commercials.

What do you say if it Jumped the Shark before it even began????

Rocker, I think the practice is getting better with each episode, although I'd rather not have the practice and let  Addison back onto Grey's.

I loved most of the episode.

~Meridith seems to be slowly getting her mojo back. How funny were the scenes with her mother's ashes and the boy's comments about them. I thought the end with Mer and the chief  washing her ashes down the drain was really touching. I also loved how Lexie shared her mom's dead cat story. I'm glad the sisters are bonding and I really love lexie.

~I still don't like Callie, but at least she was attempting to do her job. She's supposed to be a professional, a role model and an example for the residents and announcing George and Izzy's affair was juvenile, although I guess slightly better than how she was acting passive aggressive before.

~I don't get the Callie/Christina friendship. They were never friends before, although Callie did lend Yang her intern notes for the exam. I thought Mer was christina's "person". I also don't get why yang was so mad at Izzy for the affair- since the writers seemed to just invent this friendship.

~Glad to see the heart surgeon back as dept head. She just did a hilarious stint on Weeds. I feel bad for Christina-- because what's between she and the dept head (can't remember her name) seems more personal than professional-- also unprofessional. Christina seems to be the most competent of the residents.

~Ava/Rebecca and Alex are growing on me a little. Even though I'm against doctors and patients hooking up, because Ava/Rebecca left, came back, and made the overtures, it doesn't bother me.

~I hope the old intern is transfered to psychiatry to complete his training-- he was annoying.

~I thought it was interesting that the chief is getting a divorce, Miranda's husband is mad and doesn't understand the demands of her job, and (hopefully) George and Callie are getting divorced. The first two showed the difficulties of balancing being a doctor and being a partner. I was really glad that Miranda was empathic with George and mentioned how fast he got married.

~Speaking of George, he was wonderful with the heart transplant man.

~I still worry that Callie will turn up pregnant throwing a wrench into their divorce plans. Even if Geo doesn't end up with Izzy, he needs out of that trainwreck of a marriage.

~I'll be soooooo mad if that cheery cheery resident from last year and McDreamy hook up-- she's annoying.

~The boy with the ear thing would have been more realistic if he didn't have the surgery the same day as he asked for it. That likely couldn't  happen since he'd need preop testing and have to have an empty stomach for anesthesia.

~ I wish they showed more psychopathology of guy who cut off his leg. There's a rare psychiatric condition where people actually do that. I saw a documentary on it once and was fascinated. There were people who cut off multiple limbs at multiple times in their lives, people who died from the condition, people with multiple wounds from trying. One woman tried to freeze her leg in ice for hrs before cutting it off....

What's coming in November, from my tvguide-- if you can get the mag yourself or read it in line at the grocery store it'll be better - it's not online yet

~Callie continues her downward spiral putting her chief residency in jeopardy (can't say I'm sorry about that)

~Mer's father ends up in the hospital (I hope with a huge mea culpa) and she learns more about Lexie

~Tension between Izzie and Yang over surgeries

~Izzie and Geo try to get their relationship back on track

~McDreamy, McSteamy and the chief go for a men's night out (this is supposed to be hilarious)

I know there's a lot of mixed feelings about them-- what's your reason(s) if you have them-- just curious.

The reason I like the whole beauty and the geek is because I was always the geeky, nerd Tongue out in my younger years. LOL- (but I had a backbone unlike Geo and I would have never flunked the exam)

I really don't know.  I guess I always saw Izzy hooking up with Alex. I guess. I think she is pretty and I would like to see her more independant.

George? I loved him at first. His family dynamics and how he interacts with Bailey (like the birth), but other than that he doesn't appear strong to me. I like strong people. Male or female.

I liked Addison. She seemed strong. Bailey is strong. Christina seems strong. Alex does.  Mer and George and Izzy not so.

So does mc Dreamy and Mc Steamy. Now as to Callie, I thought she was, but I have my doubts!!

    take care.

Izzy is a strong person, pulled herself from the trailer park to graduate level, all on her own.  Geo. is a softie, weak willed, non agressive, and really has no place in a surgical program.  He doesn't even fight to get cases.  These two just don't have chemistry.  It has nothing to do with geek/nerd/whatever.  She's kinda clumsy, but she's still a strong personality.  Geo is not.  That's also why he doesn't need to be with Callie.  He's run over by these strong women.  He needs Ugly Betty!!!  Someone sweet and soft and huggable, who will let him be their knight in shining armour, or What ever!  He's too much a teddybear.

I'm just not a teddybear type and neither are Izzy or Callie.

    Ok, that's my 2cents.

Rofl-- george with Ugly Betty-- I like that, the would make a good pair like Betty and Henry. I'm drawn to strong people too, but I have a soft spot for George in the way I would a little brother. I want to take care of him.

I think that Izzie probably doesn't realize just how strong she is, Dotti. I forgot about her history with the trailer park and working her way through med school. I've never liked Callie for some reason, because she always seemed to me more like a bully than strong. I loved Addison much more on Grey's than the practice, but I do enjoy that show. I have the biggest crush on Kate Walsh.

I never liked Izzie and Alex because he seemed too slimy to me-- although he is growing on me.

I see Callie as a woman in a difficult job for a woman: ortho.  It's really tough for a woman.  You have to be super tough and she did it and I admire a gal who can pull that off.  I worked in a university ER setting for many years and know what "types" go into different specialties so I guess I'm really biased.  LOL

Geo needs to be in peds.  or dermatology or radiology or opthal., not surg.

~I wasn't on the edge of my seat for this episode like I have been for the others this season.

~I retract anything positive I said about Alex. He's a bully towards George. Does he not remember failing his first exam, being on probation and how all the interns rallied to help him pass the next time??? And what's up with bringing Lexie to Mer's house to sleep with her. That was just mean.

~Dr. Hahn is cutting off her nose to spite her face where Chrsitina is concerned. Yang is so much more qualified to assist than Izzie, having done Burke's surgeries last season, and with her research. It almost seems like Izzie is going after heart surgery because Christina didn't approve of her relationship with Geo. Props to Izzie who reminded Hahn that Christina was the one who suggested the procedure.

~Meridith and Christina-- they sure spend a lot of time in bed together snuggling for straight women. I wonder if there's anything to this (furthering my post on the lesbian forum). I wish Meridith could share with Derek what she's sharing with Christina. I wonder if when her father is checked into the hospital there will be some reveals and healing on her part.
