ForTheMoment received her hug-aghan today .. here's her post from the mets and recurrance forum
Hi all..
I received one of these afgans today! It is so beautiful, colorful and you can just feel the love and warmth that went into it. I've been having a really hard time with treatment and depression for the last month or two, and this couldn't have come at a better time. I realize how cheesey this sounds, but it is like wrapping up in a giant hug.
Thanks so much to all of you who put your time and caring into these. Wish I had the talent.
Love and hugs
Erin
-
Dear Erin,
That's not cheesy at all! That's why we call them Hugaghans! So glad it has brought you some cheer and comfort!
Hugs,
Denise

Forthemoment sent me a message that she got her afghan...still need to post a pic but here is her message.

You girls gave another women another reason to smile. Thanks and you are the best
-
Hi Vickie,
I have someone I would like to put on the afghan list. I'll PM you with her name. I only know her screen name, but I sense some real sadness there and a lot struggles in the past few years.
Thanks,
Brenda in VA

I found this on the afghan thread on the Recurrence Board.
Jacquniel has received her Afghan!
Here's a copy of her post:
Thank you, thank you for the lovely afgan! When I came home from the hospital my son said - 'the blanket you ordered came in'. Confused, I looked in the box and knew immediately where it came from. And can I say - the butterfly is a beautiful touch. You ladies are amazing. I will take it with me today for my tx and will feel like I am being hugged by all my sisters here at bc.org.
Hugs and love, Jacque
-
PS123, thank you for letting us know Jacque has her afghan.
-
Trying to remember if it's a double crochet around the squares in black, can someone let me know I have some black yarn and want to do the boarders before I send these squares off
-
Cheryl - it's a double crochet. How are the hands holding up?
Hugs
Liz
-
Thanks Liz, I'll get the boarders started.
they are better today! Just as long as I don't try to grab things with the finger tips, would hate to rip a nail off!
-
Hmmm I'm starting to pick up a little more speed, I have about 5 squares done!
-
I got two boardered last night. will take more with me to chemo if I can remember to put them in my bag, hmmm maybe I should do that now
-
-
Gorgeous as always Madison - thanks again for your hard work!
Hugs

Below is what Bimmer Sent about the afgan that was sent to him and Diane from the reoccurance metasitic thread:
Dear ladies we can not thank you enough for the most beautiful afghan that we've ever seen. It is very lovely and we really do appreciate it, and you.
Although Diane has never been to this website (or for that matter, she's never been to any website) she is truly touched by what I bring away from it. I have learned so much here, that has helped both she and I. She looks at it as good therapy for me. She keeps insisting that I go see a grief counselor or something like that. But I have bc.org. That is good enough for me.
Thank you from the very cockles of my heart (and you know where they are?) it is a lovely afghan and we appreciate it..
Bimmer took a nap under it to try it out yesterday..Thanks...
Bimmer -
Where do you send the squares? Any special colors? I have all kinds of extra yarn. Do you know which needles to use for worsted weight 7 x 9 piece?
-
shrink I'll let the gals that have been doing this awhile answer your questions. I just sent my first box full to LIZW. She will be able to tell me if my squares are what they need. I'm posting a pic here of what I made yesterday. Are the flowers too much?
-
Wild, I think the flowers are a very special touch, beautiful. I'm a knitter so I don't have a clue about how to make them.
-
Shrink, The squares are really 7x9.....
I use a size G crochet hook to make the squares......the link for patterns (both crochet and knit) can be found on this website
http://www.warmupamerica.com/join.html
The yarn has to be machine washable. Any color, pattern, etc. would be wonderful.
Vickie and I can PM you with our address when you are ready to send squares.
Thank you so much for your interest in this project. I absolutely love working on the afghans.
Oh, Alwayshope does knit squares for the projects. She may be able to answer your questions on the size hook to use for knitting.

I think the flowers are great!
-
Just wanted all you wonderful gals to know that the gals on the Reoccurance and Mets thread think you all are the greatest making and sending out afgans to those that need the extra hugs and love!
-
You guys are awesome for doing this.
I do not know how to do this but, if I can help in any other way, please let me know.
Thank you again.

If anyone has some yarn laying around and no time to do squares I sure would appreciate some yarn as I have the time but don't want to pay full price for yarn if I can help it. Not much locally in clearance or in thrift shops...
