cancer sucks

Just when I'm feeling good about making it to my 3 year anniversary earlier this month, I found out last night that a co-worker who was diagnosed a year ago with lung/liver/lymph/gland cancer and 6 months ago brain mets, passed away yesterday afternoon. I've known her for 10 years so this is really hitting me hard. Last night I didn't think I would be able to ever stop crying. Even though you're expecting it, you still don't expect it and it really sucks!

I am so sorry for your loss. It has not been a good week here on the boards. There were at least 2 deaths that I know. Yes, cancer sucks big huge time, absolutely nothing good about it.

Juanita,
I know what you mean.
My best friend of 22 years just passed away late last month from non small cell lung cancer that went to her liver and brain. We were diagnosed at the same time and have the same birthday (she was 3 years older than me).
It seems like every day we're hearing of someone else losing their life to cancer. And it's just as hard each time. Yes, cancer sucks!
I'm really sorry about your co-worker and offer condolensces to you.

Juanita, it most certainly does.
I'm sorry that you have lost a friend to this disease.
It is always lurking in the background for us. We reach a place of "moving beyond" and when we lose someone to cancer we know that it's always behind us.
There is no rhyme nor reason to this...who gets it, who stays ahead of it.
((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) to you for your loss and your loss of security. For the moment. You will rebuild that and keep moving forward but for now, just be in the moment of grief for yourself and your friend.

That beast is aways around isn't it? I hate Cancer too. It robs too many people of life. The hard part is that most of us didn't do anything to cause it. Crap happens.
We have so much technology around us and advances in medicine that it is hard sometimes to believe we can't beat it.

I'm with you here! Too many wonderful women and men surcoming to cancer.
This is not a board prone to improper comments. I must write my President and Congresspeople again today, reminding them we are loosing our comrades right here at home to cancer. There is a war going on, and it divides and conquers many. I plea for increased budgetary monies to NCI. It's a shilling they receive in comparison.
Pardon me for such. I am reeling from the loss of our sisters and brothers. We need the cure, now!
