Nails starting to go
I posted this on another board but thought I'd try here, too. I'm a bit worried about this.
Now, almost 4 months after finishing A/C, my thumbnails are looking pretty bad. Actually, they have been getting progressively yellower and browner for the past couple of months. This color goes from the ridges from the chemo (about 1/2 way up the nail) to the tip. The nails are also a bit loose and I have to be careful to not catch them on anything that might rip the whole things out. Ouch! Of course, I am keeping them as short as possible and covered with nail polish, hoping to keep them from breaking.
What would you recommend to keep the lid on things? What's the deal? Have any of you experienced this?
On a lighter note, I am having my dh crack the tab on my beer cans. LOL Just kidding, kind of.

I am heading to the HF store to get some today. I assume you just rub it into the nail?

Okay, here's what's happening. One thumbnail has broken off about 1/3 way from the tip. There is a very thin nail growing underneath it but I imagine it's pretty tender. Doesn't look too bad, actually, but it is ragged at the tip and is catching on everything so I have it covered with a band-aid. Is that a bad idea and if it is how do I keep it from snagging and maybe further injury? Anybody here have this problem?
Just when you think you're out.............

tina ............ i lost both thumbnails, both great toenails, both baby toenails and one 4th toenail.
the thumbnails are back, the big toes are "half back" but thin and peeling, the other 3 toe nails have never returned ........... 18 months out of ACT chemo!!!!!
i've tried everything (to save them) and to grow them back, nothing is working so i'm now the pedicure/acrylic toenail queen lol!
my onc is baffled and makes me laugh when she says "that chemo crap really worked!" ............ my tastebuds are still shot to hell too, so i live on spicy, tart, acidy foods!
my nails just "fell off" one day, no pain, no warning .......... just gone! it breaks my heart to this day because i've always been complimented on my "great feet" .............. oh well .............. what's a girl to do?
my SIL swears by apple cider viniger, but it hasn't worked for me.
good luck!
