I did it!!!!
Well, I did it. So many of you on this board have already done it and if you haven't, hopefully you will soon. I made it to my one year anniversary of being a survivor. I was dx Sept 12, 2006 and when I heard the news I thought I would die within the week. That is how scared I was. I didn't die and I am doing great. I had a lumpectomy and then a left mast,4 DD A/C, 4 DD Taxotere, 33 rads and I will be on Herceptin until January 08. My I have been bald, sick and very tired. But now I have hair, I am not sick , but I still get very tired. Friday I am going to a survivor luncheon in Knoxville sponsored by the Komen foundation with Pat Summitt being the speaker. After that, I am going to an acoustic jam session at a music store with Papa Roach. (They are a rock band that my husband and 2 teen-aged boys listen to) DH and DS are going to the Papa Roach concert Friday night. Not my type of music but I will enjoy meeting them and taking pictures.I have changed a lot in the past year. My faith in God has grown immensely, the love I have felt from family, friends and even strangers is awesome, my hope for the future isabove and beyond what I could ever imagine, and my strength to get through this ordeal has grown. I have a tattoo (my first) on my ankle that has the pink ribbon with swirls around it with Faith, love, hope and strength circling my leg. I love it. I didn't do it as a reminder, Heaven knows i don't need that. But I did it as a way to tell others what I have been through because I don't look sick anymore.
I was so excited about this day because I am now looking forward to moving on and getting year number 2 over with. Everyday brings me closer to being a long term survivor. Everyone on this board has helped me so much to get through this ordeal. I have posted some and read a lot. I have learned so much and made friends that I will never give up. I love you all and I say thank you to you all. Let's get started on #2! Bonny

Oh, Bonny, you just put the biggest smile on my face.
I can soooooo hear and feel how very happy you are. I am coming up on my third anniversary in December.
However, I don't want to jinx myself.
Isn't that silly.
I did something the other day and after thinking about it I discovered something. My dh and I bought a new couch and chair for our den. I know this may sound silly, but I never thought once about bc...like why am I buying this..I may die and never enjoy it...we shouldn't be spending the money (well we shouldn't but....)...you know, those thoughts that invade our minds when we're doing something we normally don't do or spend money.
I am sooooo happy for you. Have a WONDERFUL celebration!

Thanks to you all. Marin, of course with me living in Pat's back yard so to speak, she is my favorite. I went to a Lady Vols softball game and she was there and she signed my hat. (I had a little fuzz at the time) She is awesome. I will let you know how the luncheon goes. Thanks again, Bonny

Go Lady Vols!!!!
Congratulations on your first of many, many years, Bonny from one big Orange fan to another.
I admire Coach Summit and hope you enjoy her speech. Just saw her on the news singing and speaking at a rally to welcome her coachs back home from their participation in the motorcycle ride for the cure.

Congrats, I haven't made it to a year yet but I will be in December. I was actually thinking about the fact of what I would do when I started looking like someone who hasn't been threw the cancer wars. I, like you, want people to know I am a survivor and they can be too. I have even thought of getting a tatoo but one with my kids names because it's for that I even fought this war. Only with God's help have been able to win this fight and I too want everyone to know how special cancer warriors are. I would love to see a picture of your tatoo it sounds beautiful.
May God Bless You for all the days you live...
