Hi gals, I will be there, of course, I wrote the whole thing in AUGUST'S calendar space! Urghhhhh,
Hugs, Shirlann -
Hi, BMD--I am planning on coming unless I'm slammed from chemo. Will let you guys know closer to the date--I am looking forward to meeting people in person.
-
Okay, I have September 22nd, a Saturday, Acapulco Restaurant on the hill in Old Town at 11:30am! Is this the right everything?
Hugs, Shirlann -
You got it Shirlann.
-
I just got the Pop Warner schedule through 9/22 and we have a 4 pm and a 5 pm game on the 22nd which means I can make the luncheon!! Can't wait to see you all.
Lisa #3 -
Can you believe it - bilateral mastec. is scheduled for 9/19. So, I will miss again. Have a great time, Ladies. Maybe I will meet you all in October?!
-
Lisa #3 great news.
starfish-so sorry you won't be able to join us. I have been looking forward to meeting you. Let us know how your surgery goes. -
Just found this thread and I see you will be meeting up on Sat ... Sept 22.
I will be at the OC walk on 9/23 ..... but on Sat I will be working. Have a great time!! -
If ever you can make it on a Sunday, lemme know!
-
Roctobermom--we would love to have you. Hopefully we can plan a Sunday for October. I have many busy Saturdays that month and I know Lisa#3 probably does to. What part of San Diego do you live in? What is the OC walk?
-
Orange County
I live in Riverside County and my Roctober Chemo Sister, Adnerb, lives in San Diego. -
We've had our meet on a Sunday before, I'm sure we'll do it again! We'd love to have a couple of Roctober Chemo Sisters join us anytime!
Lisa#3 - I am so jazzed that the new schedule means you get to be with us after all! Whooo-eeeee!
sdstarLisa - That's a drag that your surgery makes it impossible for you to come. You will be very busy healing. Is someone going to be looking after your young'uns for you? What part of San Diego are you in?
Lisa -
Hi, Lisa SDCA:
I have an almost-9-year-old, and while I am in the hospital she will be with a friend. Once I come home on Friday 9/21, she will be with me. I plan to ask her school if I can home-school her a few days, since I can't drive for two weeks. We live in Mission Bay, but she goes to school in Point Loma. -
I will try to make it to the get together on the 23rd! I'm only about 6 miles away from that particular Acapulco restaurant.
-
Brenda S. it is on the 22nd.
-
Two bits of news - I met a woman at my onc. appointment yesterday and told her about this board and our group and she is very enthusiastic about joining us. She is right in the middle of chemo, and has no support group of any kind. So I may be bringing Chris with me to Old Town, okay?
The other thing is that 48 hrs. after our meeting I will be going to LA for surgery the next morning at 6AM. 12 hours of surgery! YIKES!
So if I am bordering on being a complete looney-tune I hope you all will forgive me.
Lisa

This group is so great and I believe the more the merrier - I know I gain so much from all of you and am thankful to have found my San Diego cancer sisters.
And LisaSDCA - I'm so glad to hear you will be having surgery and DIEP as I know you've had such a battle with Kaiser and finding a suitable surgeon for the DIEP. I'll be thinking of you! Question for you - is DIEP the same as a free flap?
I don't know what all my reconstruction choices will be, but my neighbor suggested I start investigating surgeons and options now instead of waiting until I finish chemo and rads.
Lisa #3
-
Lisa, Yes, bring her .... we all need each other!
Melia
-
Lisa#3 - yes, DIEP is a muscle-sparing, free-flap procedure. I may end up with a Free TRAM (which uses a small disc of muscle, but is still a free flap) on one side, depending on what he finds in there, but he and I are both committed to the DIEPs if at all possible. I am in conversation with another woman on this board who he did a DIEP for a couple of weeks ago, so that is really helping me with questions!

Lisa..I am very happy you finally got squared away with the surgery..what a battle you have had...you are one determined lady...good for you!!!!!!!!!!! Hope that sparkle is still in your eyes...
See you all on the 22nd ...what size table do you think we need???
-
With all the stuff going on with the boards I did not even see the update on you LisaSDCA. That is so cool. I am very happy you are getting the surgery you want. Can't wait to see you before you go.
Well maybe we should get a head count for a reservation.
So far I have:
Me, Jan, Melia, Lisa#3, LisaSDCA and Chris, SoCal, Shirlann
Nash are you going to make it? Anybody else please let us know so I can see if they will save us a table.
-
Hi, BMD. I had been planning on coming to lunch on the 22nd, but now I have an appointment that day at noon to get my wigs styled. It's the only time I could fit it in--gotta have something to wear to church other than my current headgear that makes me look like a pirate.
So I'm rather bummed. But hopefully I can make October.
-
Oh nash. I was really looking for forward to you joining us. Well lets hope for Oct. I always wore my scarves to church. I didn't wear my wig until a couple months after chemo ended.
So I guess we need a table for 8.
-
I am going to try my best. Even though my mast. is the previous Wed., I think it might be good for me to get out. I just have to find a way to get there (won't be able to drive).
-
sdstarfish - let us know where you are coming from and one of us may be able to swing by to get you ;-)
-
I live about 5 minutes from Old Town. Lisa SDCA has been nice enough to offer to swing by, provided I can make it. (good thoughts, good thoughts...)
Maybe I can swing a ride home from someone, too?
-
sdstarfish-I will be heading north after lunch. Does that help? Don't push yourself though. I went to one of our lunches 2 days after my ooph and it was pretty hard on me. I had a long drive though. I was still very glad I went. Hope to see you there.
-
I will be happy to provide round-trip transportation if you feel like an outing, my dear. I'll already know the way!
You'll simply need to climb in (I'll even pack a down pillow for under the seat belt if you say so) and then climb out, order brunch, eat, chat, have a good ol' time, climb back in, get home, then have a nap.
You just let me know.
Lisa
-
OK, I'm in
Thank you all for being so kind.
So Lisa SDCA, I'll see you this Saturday morning. And I even have a seat belt pillow.
-
Hi everyone..just a heads up in Sunday's Union there is a coupon for Acapulco Restaurants...
See you Sat!!
